Act II The Spark of Revolution [Green Zone Open Thread]

Nefertari was about to make a run towards the crash of metal and the call of prisoner 626. Even though she could sense [member="Eralam"]'s strength, the knight knew he alone wouldn't be enough.

A large drone floated in front of her, blocking her path forward
"You rebellious scum" it said in a mechanical voice, deploying its blasters

The Jedi ignited her blade, holding it in her brass hand. She had fought a rather run-down drone like this, and Danny wasn't here to fire another ion blast which had probably been a stroke of luck.

This bucket of bolts has strong shields, how am I going to take it down?

Where was the shield generator on this thing anyway?

Bolts of red flew in rapid succession, Nef deflected them as best she could.

And then, her thoughts wandered to her sword lessons. The words of Nef's father echoed out of the mists of the past and into her head
"Remember,Neffy, to never show your back to your enemy. This is a simple tactic, but it deprives your opponent of many opportunities for attack"

And Nefertari had only seen these ugly machines of oppression from the front until they were down.
There we have it

Combining speed with a leap, Nefertari seemingly vanished from the drone's sensors before reappearing an instant later.

The plasma of the lightsaber's blade pierced the shield generator as the night landed on the other side and thrust the weapon behind her.

A startled scream echoed through the building as the droid opened fire. Three bolts grazed Nefertari as she executed a masterful disarming slash, taking out the drone's array of blasters.

With the drone's attack and defense nullified, Nefertari tried using the force to bring it along with her; It resisted.

The woman thrust the teal blade through the empire's robot dog and lifted the shell with the force as she extinguished her blade.

Now to assist [member="Eralam"]

Nefertari jumped onto a severely beat up shelf and positioned both herself and the shell of the drone above the rebel shard and [member="Raziel"]
This thing must weigh about 400 kg

The lady was sick of even telekinetically carrying this heavy piece of scrap around. Nefertari threw the dead drone down from near the top of the room, intending to crush the imperial agent under it and provide the prisoner more opportunity to escape.

As the light bathed them, Kay turned around quickly to locate it's source. Her eyes widened and that was all the time that she had before the drone started firing on her. As the lightsaber was already ignited in her hand, she let her instincts guide her to deflect the shots. The drone was far better than any practice drone. It was calculating her every move, the shield bouncing off any of the blaster fire that was deflected it's way.

Kay started to retreat towards the middle of the warehouse, hoping that her friends would gain the advantage and fight the drone from all sides. "Crush it!!! Crush it!!!" One thing was clear. If they didn't try to help her soon, she would begin to tire. Drones unfortunately didn't tire, and Kay wasn't used to fighting on her own for an extended period of time.

Ascendant moved quickly, seeing the drone's light be began to move into the room more fully. He knew these droids were armored and shielded beyond any of the weapons they had here. He did however have an idea. [member="Lady Kay"] yelling out to crush it told him all the more what to do. He ran straight for it, trusting the armor that he had been made with to hold against any fire he might have been struck with. His blaster was raised and let off half a dozen shots as he moved towards the drone.

He felt blaster fire turn to him for a moment. Five shots struck his armor and three burned through the weak metal plating. He could feel the blasters burn holes almost all the way through his body. His systems began screaming to him that he had been damaged severely. He was leaking lubricant, his power systems were no longer stable. He leaped up to the drone nonetheless and put his hands around it. One hand found grip while the other moved to the scanner and optical sensors and smashed them, followed by pulling the weapons down and out of the drone.

He let go of the drone, seeing as it was mostly disarmed. He called out to the others, "Get the quarry out of here!" He fell to the ground, hearing the crunch of more components as they broke from the damaged structures and the added weight.

The wave of debris came crashing towards where Eralam would have been, if he'd been foolish enough to stand still.

One could accuse the Shard of being many things.

Arrogant.
Violent.
Criminally handsome.

One would be hard pressed, however, to consider him a fool. Unless one were to count rebelling against an all powerful Emperor as foolish, that is.

Anyway, semantics aside, he had no intention of letting the enemy's puppy bury him under several tons of ferrocrete and durasteel. That would have been silly. Instead, he rushed to meet the Emperor's Puppy. The Shard kept his saber in the high guard, ready to defend himself from the inevitable attack. His pistol, however, was a different story. The ancient Colt roared twice as the Shard advanced, sending two rounds towards his opponent's chest. They might hit or they might not. That was irrelevant. What they would do hopefully was force the bastard to check his advance for a moment. That would create an opening, and openings could be exploited.

[Sorry, I caught the exam bug]

The Jedi Master had been following orders, igniting the blue blade and keeping blaster fire off the others. This was something he was used to, of course, from the battles he had chosen to take a more passive front. But if needed, he would strike down those who might attack them directly. He could feel the dark side, oozing from every inch of this place... It made him shudder, just a little. But it wouldn't be long before they made their way through and they would come across their enemy.. As well as the prisoner.

Lady Kay was right. They needed to get her to safety, and fast. He didn't know how long Eralam could hold them off... They were running out of time. But before they could do much, they would find themselves bathed in red light, and the Jedi would grit his teeth. This wasn't good... Not at all. And then the droid that had caused it began to fire on Kay.

The Jedi Master didn't hesitate to rush to her side, trying to deflect what blaster bolts he could. Of course, not even his lightsaber could deflect the powerful bolts forever, and he would find himself constantly having to move himself and [member="Lady Kay"] out of the way of some of them while they made their retreat.

"Hurry up!" Josh would call to Kay, hoping the others would attack the droid while he tried to help protect his friend to the best of his abilities. While it was targetting her, the others could attack it freely. And if he could keep Kay safe while they did so... All the better.

He heard noises behind them before long, and he assumed that someone had destroyed the droid. He hoped so, anyway.

Oh good! They were listening! It was always so much better when others listened to her. But then again, her plans tended to backfire on her quite a bit. Yet she always seemed to make sure that she took the fall or suffer the most when that happens. If they were her bad decisions, it was better that she took the fall instead of somebody else.

Joshua and Ascendant had her back, while Eralam and Raziel were fighting. The others were also doing their part. So Kay shut off her saber, stashed it inside her satchel and quickly ran to Prisoner 626. She crouched down and spoke quietly to her as she lifted her arm to put over her shoulder, "We're here to rescue you, so try to help me get you up. I don't have time to explain right now, but we have to get you out." With just a bit of help, Kay got the lady to her feet, the blood still streaming down her face. "Get onto my back, please." Kay did what she could to get the nearly unconscious lady onto her back for a piggy back ride. Once she was more or less balanced, she carried the woman back towards the hole, albeit a bit slowly. There was debris, blaster fire and the like to avoid. Hopefully someone stronger would be able to take over soon as they needed to get her up to the surface for the next set of instructions.

As the shard emerged to the side of the wall of tortured metal and debris, Raziel accelerated. Two cracks rang out above the din. His saber flashed across his chest, a quiet buzz accompanied it vaporising the first round. However, the second round slammed home, sending iridescent ripples across the barrier he had erected.

He slowed, keeping his feet close to the ground so he wouldn’t be caught off-balance again. Yet so focussed on the main target was the man who controlled the DfR, that he didn’t immediately see the assault from Nefertari. The shadow of the massive drone loomed over him. There was an almighty crash as it ripped straight through the floor. Both drone and man vanished, leaving a gaping hole. These old neglected pipes were often structurally compromised. Perhaps the pair had been carried straight through to temple through the depths.

Just a moment later there was another cry of metal bend rended apart. The ground beneath Eralam simply collapsed in on itself, leaving him with no purchase to leap to safety.

The Peacekeepers were beginning to thin out. Prisoner 626 could soon be saved.

Dredge, a name that did not strike fear into the hearts of those in this time. A name that was nearly forgotten as time had passed and imperialism ruled over most systems. It was a name in other universes that struck nothing but fear and anger into the hearts of those who wished to do good among the galaxy, but here things were a different story. The name Dredge was a joke, a relic of a failed Yuuzhan Vong Warchief turned heretic that had their regime toppled and their planet glassed.

Deep within the sewers of the capital the joke that was Dredge had survived and was feeding off of the remnants of corpses or the occasional sewer worker that had traveled too far down into the depths of the planet. Down there the beast waited in defeat, simply waiting until they died. There was simply nothing left for the heretic of a Vong, nothing to do but die in this black void of waste and despair.

A large near seven foot tall figure waded through muck and filth wearing a blackened hood and tattered robes. The stench that emanated from them was atrocious and did nothing but push even the most seasoned of sewer rats away from them. With their blackened eyes focused down on a single target, a nice juicy fat rat, the hooded figure plunged forward and snatched it with some help of from the force.

"There we are." The twisted Vong said as it knelt down and held the squirming rodent to their face.

The rat squeaked and squirmed until a thumb pushed its neck back causing it to go limp and die. After that the sick sound of bones crunching and teeth smacking could be heard echoing down the tunnels. But then it stopped, there was a sound of a light splash and the hooded figure that was Dredge looked up into the darkness. Something felt different, something felt off. Silence enveloped the sewer and soon a sick smile grew on the Vong's face.

"Yes, soon." Cackles of laughter exited the Vong's mouth as it soon faded back into the darkness that was the sewers.

Nefertari watched as the dead drone went through the floor, carrying [member="Raziel"] with it.

While there was no way to confirm if the imperial agent was dead or alive, he was out of the way for the time being at least.
Not quite checkmate yet

The knight's thought process was interrupted when the ground collapsed under the shard leader of the resistance

A look of shock crossed Nef's face as she called upon the force in an effort to save [member="Eralam"] from falling.

Prisoner 626 was nearby, she could feel it. Once the peacekeepers were cleared, they could easily get to her.
