Alliance's Vengeance [GA/ME Myrkr Skirmish]

kzOFuMp.png
Aryn Teth

Immortal-class Siege Dreadnought 'Vindicator', Myrkr Orbit, Myrkr System, The Inner Rim
Allies: The Galactic Alliance
Enemies: The Mandalorian Empire
The bridge of the Vindicator was alive with activity as the hull of the ship ceased shuddering, the craft fully reverting from its hyperspace jump, carefully positioned to bring itself, and the accompanying fleet just outside of Myrkr's gravity well. Towards the forward viewport, and at the end of the command walk-way stood the Supreme Commander, his hands clasped gently behind his back, and his face hidden behind the mask that he had retrieved from Dagobah after the first battle on the world, the very battle which had now brought him here.

"Multiple ships detected in atmosphere and high orbit, they haven't engaged fighter screening yet, but they're hailing us."

The primary signals officer called out from one of the command pits behind Aryn, the Supreme Commander's gaze shifting somewhat to focus on the silhouettes of the Mandalorian craft. They were too significant to be simply a planetary defense fleet, even though Teth was aware of the presence the clans had on Myrkr, their positioning didn't suggest as much either. As he ran through the scenarios in his mind, he almost couldn't help the smirk which split his lips behind the mask. The First battle of Dagobah had begun with an Alliance wargame, it seemed only fitting that this should begin the same way.

"Ignore their hails, bring us into high orbit over the Northern forest, begin charging the autocannons." Aryn knew that the bases or cities on Myrkr would have been more ideal targets, but with the positioning of the Mandalorian fleet, it was unlikely that the Immortals would be able to get within range before taking fire, taking their initial shots into the forest had the same effect that Aryn had seen the Sith use on Thyferra. It was a Sith tactic, certainly, but what did that matter, if it achieved results?

"Begin informing the ground commanders that they may deploy, The Australis' base is their primary target." Within seconds of his order being given, it was delivered across the ship and the fleet, informing those who would be leading troops down to Myrkr's surface that the operation had begun. The deployment of the dropships would have most certainly given the Mandalorians the indication of what was happening, especially considering the fighter escorts that soon joined them, yet if it had not, they would have soon properly understood. "Autocannons primed, sir." The voice of the chief gunnery officer echoed across the bridge, and with a silent nod from the Supreme Commander, the four ventral cannons began to fire, each pouring a series of devastating shots down to the surface, engulfing a large swathe of the forest in flame.

"Move the fleet closer to support the ground units, re-target the autocannons on Hyllyard City." There was a brief pause as the order carried, the ships executive officer speaking up quietly towards the Supreme Commander. "Sir, we are unable to guarantee there would be no civilian casualties if we fire on Hyllyard." As his mask turned down to settle upon the face of the executive officer, Aryn almost had to fight back a laugh. "They are Mandalorians, Commander. They don't understand the concept of a 'civilian'."

Welcome to the GA/ME Skirmish of Myrkr!
The OOC thread can be found here, please use it to resolve any issues or discuss things as necessary!
Just to re-iterate, these are the basic rules of this skirmish:
  1. Have fun, we're all here to have a good time, if you have a dispute, try your best to resolve it amicably among yourselves, involving Faction staff and especially RPJs should be a last resort.
  2. Fleeters will have a limit of one capital ship, and a number of smaller escorts no bigger than 1000m each, up to a maximum of 10km per writer. Faction admins will control larger fleet numbers for story purposes
  3. This skirmish is limited to members of the Galactic Alliance, and the Mandalorian Empire.

Location: Outside Hyllyard, in the jungle
Objective: Defend Hyllyard, Kill or Capture GA raiders
Enemies: GA
Allies: ME

Strider Garon was deep in the jungle a few kilometers west of Hyllyard. The old man was not alone, he had a platoon of mandalorian warriors with him, mix of age and experience. They were learning jungle warfare and survival from the legend himself. Good portion of the younger mando'ade had never been in a jungle such as Myrkr while some of veterans had been in far worse. It was good practice to have the mixed group work together, not just to bridge the gap in age but to build upon comrade while passing on essential skills and experiences to the next generation of soldiers. They were only a few hours into the first lessons and that was mostly just getting the warriors acclimated to the difficult jungle surroundings and hot muggy air. Best way to do that was a forced march, in full gear.

The alert was broadcasted to all of them, Myrkr was being invaded. Some of the mandalorians around Strider could be heard applauding the situation for they were all being recalled out from the jungle to defend the city of Hyllyard. "Listen up!" He growled "We have enemy contact. We are being recalled back to Hyllyard to defend and repel the raiders" Strider would let the orders sink in before continuing "But if you di'kuts think a little dust up is going to get you out of jungle training, you got another thing coming. Those that alive and able will be right back out here the moment this is over!"

Yeah, he was a ray of sunshine. Old age had bout the best out of the grizzled veteran. Though the last comment may have caused a few signs, it brought a smile from ear to ear of Strider, yet was hidden behind his T-visored helmet. "Otuoioa!" Once again the old man growled, this time in their native tongue initiating the platoon to 'move out'.

"Our troop ship will pick us up halfway!" And with that the mandalorians warriors would begin to haste back towards Hyllyard. They would stay on foot till their troop ship was in range. Then they would rocket upwards to it and fly back the rest of the way. But for now, they were grounded and making way to their rally point. Their eyes peeled for their objective is to defend the City and they were not that far off from it which puts them in potential Landing zones for the enemy to set up and stage their attack. They had to move as quickly as they could with as much stealth and care they could afford. Within the Jungle, war was usually conducted at close range.

He sat with his back against the wall in one of the lean to bars often seen thrown up in military bases. Nothing to write home about. Usually they comprised of merely a central location for hooch where the squad could unwind, then add in some asthetics. The one he currently was sitting in was incorporated into the side of a barracks. Tables and benches thrown together from scavenged pallets, a tarp pulled from roof to a central pole, and several conjoined crates formed the bar.

Leaning back he allowed himself to close his eyes, the cool surface of the building seeping into his shoulders and neck to alleviate some of the tension therein. It was different then Manda'yaim, being on this planet. The sorrow that seemed to stain his home with coloring of the travesty affecting all who had survived the catalyst tore at him constantly. It was part of the reason he left Mandalore and followed the war drums of war.

The guilt was killing him.

So he slid into his mismatched armor and became another faceless mando'ad to the call. With his sniper against his shoulder and eyes down range no one questioned him, which meant he didn't have to answer. Leaning his head forward slightly he took a swig from the beer, the neck dangling in his fingers as he leaned back once more.

He had left because in a blink he had lost everything that mattered. Then later he got a new aliit, the wolf pack, and again he had failed and a blink, everything had changed once more. He figured the best way was to stay away. People wouldn't have expectations that he would fail. Another swig another quiet sigh. One of the reason he had signed up for the war games. He was just another mando'ad looking to fight. No one cared who you were in battle. You were vod, and that was enough. That was all he needed.

As his lips touched the bottle again an explosion of activity hit the bar, and the base beyond. Leaping to his feet he heard the message over the frequency of his buy'ce and dropped the beer as he ran from the shade, bucket going on and his rifle swinging from his shoulder and into his hands. He had no formal role in the clan, nor in the military forces on the planet. But he'd be a shabuir if he didn't answer the call of battle for his vode.

Running through the base as he weaved around the running troops, he moved toward the front lines. But pausing he looked around. His rifle would be better used from a position where he had a clear line of sight. Turning to his right he ran at the side of a building as he slung his rifle across his back. Jumping he hit the top of a barrel and leapt up, the toe of his right boot catching the eaves of a window sill and leaped again, hands reaching up and gripping the second story window. Pulling himself up he leapt a third time and caught the edge of the roof and pulled himself over. Unslinging his Verpine he dropped to his knee then his stomach to lay prone as he looked out over the base. It wasn't the best height, but it would do for a sniper.

Objective: Set up roadside bombs, and ambush points within the city.

The planetary alarms had been set up, the planet was under attack! Being apart of Kaine's army , Skosk had been assigned to his general's clan planet to conduct patrols within the city. Most had believed that this was mostly a boring mission, with no threat of being attacked in this jungle world. However this was a good place for training, and a good defensive position. The red armored brute would gladly adhere the call regardless. The clans were one big united family in his eyes, protecting this territory was no problem for him. The Fett was accompanied with ten men, one of his men was a demolitions expert like the Giant himself. Armed with explosives, his squad prepared to move throughout the road planting explosive charges with enough punch to blow up an average sized tank.

The mandalorian activated his comm system within his T-Visor Bucye, " This is Skosk Fett, my squad and I are planting explosive charges throughout the main road to the town center on eighty fifth street. If approaching the area to set up defensive positions proceed with caution. We don't want any of our vod getting blown up . Explosives will be set up at the entrance of the road and street we will also be setting up explosives near the entrance of the town hall. Fett Out. " . The message was brief and sweet, as a warrior he learned what it meant to be quick. This was especially in battle, the longer messages were spoken the more casualties their would be.

The squad ran quickly throughout the panicking city, civilians hurrying toward their designated bunkers . In the event of an emergency, local government would flee underneath the town center toward their bunker. This squad would be charged with slowing the advance to that town center. This was regarded as a priority job, and the towering leader would not let the general down. Their squad were placing seismic charges, that would cause two nearby complexes to blow up should they be set off. The buildings would explode upon entry blocking that area, thus forcing most enemies to take side paths, to get back onto the main road.

The squad would be hiding in a side alley to the right of the entrance, allow them to charge out into the open to ambush any units using any side path. The squad leaders plan was to funnel enemies wishing to take the town center via keeping them in one area. "Squad in position, these Arueliti scum will wish they had not attacked us. " , the warrior loved to make things kaboom , the horned being grinned at the idea, tho many would not see it underneath his bucye.

Sol still had dreams he was back on Dagobah.

He had been a soldier since he was old enough to enlist, and the academy seemed now like a lifetime ago. The young duros was already a veteran of several campaigns, with seemingly no end in sight, but Dagobah had been four long days of near constant swamp fighting. Most of the combat he'd seen there had been either remote guarding artillery emplacements or brawls out on patrol, close to medium range engagements.

Ambushes and counter-ambushes, guerilla warfare, the stuff of true nightmares. By the time the Defense Force had made a tactical withdrawal from the sector, Twilight Company had lost nearly half of their troopers. Stazi had watched many of his men killed right in front of them, and some of those had been at the hands of Mandalorians. He had even repaid the favor once or twice. Jedi could have their harmony, the Captain would take revenge every time.

A sharp jostle in the troop bay snapped him out of his black thoughts, Sol had been doing this long enough to know that the Firebird had begun taking AA fire from Myrkr's surface emplacements. The corvette was a tough old broad with deflectors that didn't seem to know when to quit, but she was also one of the larger targets among the Alliance drop pods and troop transports descending now into the atmosphere. Such was the life of a mobile infantry grunt, from hyperspace to planetfall their lives were entirely out of their own hands, only to be dropped off at some of the most miserable hellscapes in the galaxy.

Sol loved the Army.

"Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!"

"That light look green to you?!" he hollered the man down, barely able to even hear his own voice in the middle of rapid reentry, "You wanna get dragged out into the stratosphere?!"

Another hit shook the bay even harder, giving troopers whiplash in their harnesses and there was a momentary feeling of weightlessness as the Firebird's inertial dampeners struggled to compensate. Finally, the drop light in front of him flashed from red to yellow signalling they were approaching the LZ, and Sol slammed down on the release which automatically freed his men from their crash seats. The troopers rose unsteadily and struggled through extreme turbulence to form into a somewhat orderly queue.

There was no use in speeches now, even over their internal com frequency none of his men would be able to hear him. Not for the first time, he wished Major Sunfell was here, even if he was glad she would not be forced to shed the blood of her own people. This close to the drop, there was only his black thoughts of vengeance and self doubt in his ability to command Twilight on his own. The light turned green, Sol stepped up to the hatch.

Blaster fire cut through the bay even before they had tossed down their ropes, and a private right next to Sol was struck center mass as he reached out for the line, tumbling down twenty meters to the surface. Without hesitation Captain Stazi took his place, rappelling down from the hovering CR90 into unfamiliar hostile territory. There was no place he'd rather be.

The Dutchman's Bane
853 ABY
Hyperspace - 40 minutes outside of The Myrkr System
[member="Kaine Au[/FONT][FONT='courier new']stralis"] | [member="Aryn Teth"] | Lovely GA Fleeters
Kei sat back.

They had marched on Myrkr, the Galactic Alliance had made a fatal mistake. They had marched on the home of Clan Australis and the Mandolorian's wanted their blood. They had attacked Kei's home, the home of the Clan that had accepted him and Kei wanted blood. No-one marched on Kei's friends, his family and expected him to sit back and let them go about it. Kei would charge headfirst into battle to protect them, to protect his friends.

The Dutchman's Bane shot through the stars. It was a lumbering ball, by mass probably one of the larger military vessels in the galaxy. It was a lumbering ball with very powerful weapons, including the central superheavy proton beam cannon. That would tear through a ship with ease, based on the weapons used upon the original planet destroyers belonging to The Galactic Empire, if you believed the rumours of course.

Following behind were the remains of the battle against The Galactic Empire, the battle over Ukio. Kei had replaced those that had fallen with bigger, better ships and renamed others. Kei was taking the fight to The Galactic Alliance, they would be chased from the system and back to Courscant, Sullest or whatever they had come from. They'd be chased back there anyway, back into hiding as the angry Mandolorian's came for their heads.

The internal war bridge was full of activity, higher ranking officers preparing the ship for battle. The big space ball of death had it's weaknesses, the choice between engines and weapons was always tough. Kei didn't know what The Galactic Alliance had thrown at Myrkr, they could have very easily had the very large ships or they could have turned up in the smallest fighters and frigates that they owned. Kei wouldn't know until he arrived.

"Commander"

Kei raised a hand softly. He had used the holoprojector to hide the armour that he was trapped in, appearing as a regular male in a suit and tie. It almost surprised him to see his hands as skin once again, it was something he was just about getting used to. He preferred to appear in the armour when charging into battle, it tended to insert fear into the enemy, however he knew that the Mandolorian's wouldn't enjoy it.

He turned his head towards the commander, who walked over and stood besides him casually. He was an elderly man, had followed Kei from The Flying Dutchman, his flagship that he used when not working for The Mandolorian Empire. Kei trusted the man dearly, he was clever and he knew exactly what to do before Kei needed to do it. They were a team that offset each other extremely well and balanced each other well.

The man also enjoyed his promotion to Commander.

"We will wait in a neighbouring system until General Australis provides us with an accurate representation of the situation. When we hyperspace into the battle, I want all of the frigates to move in front of the Bane. They will absorb the damage while we move into position, locking weapons as we move. Once we are in range, I want the proton beam fired towards their biggest, strongest ships. We should be able to tear it apart, rip it from the sky with ease."

The Commander nodded, eyes still locked on Kei, hands clasped behind his back.

"The one strength of being in a large sphere is that we have weapons facing every single angle. Once we arrive, I want every battery firing on their smaller ships, their frigates. I want all fighters launched, bombers to remain behind. The frigates will be absorbing the damage, but they can feel free to fire upon any of their crusiers should they get a shot"

The Commander nodded once again. He was all to used to being given very detailed, long winded plans.

"See to it Commander. May the force be with you"

Equipment: Lightsaber - Armor - Combat Cape
Objective: Be a stereotypical Sith juggernaut and destroy anything stupid enough to stand in front of you
Allies: [member="Sol Stazi"]
People to fight: [member="Rex Taff"], in coming for you

Yuvie had no real take on Mando's there culture, while seeming to be their own downfall half the time, much like sith, was a little new it was nothing bad in his eye, people did their own thing and as long as it did not affect others no problem. The problem came when that was not adhered to, and the Mandalorians where not exception, their willingness to switch sides in the middle of battle to fight with the strongest or just outright pay was an act that made the Mirialans blood boil. It had been their actions that had ultimately allowed the First Order and Sith Empire to conquer more and more planets and their government never batted an eye lid.

Did he support this raid and action? yes, very so, the Alliance had to show they could not be pushed around, those that wronged them had to suffer the consequences and Mando's should know that more then anyone else. From that moment their Empire had betrayed the Alliance they should have expected this sort of action, and if they did not, well that was just foolish, but considering the AA fire the ship was taking such did not seem accurate, unless the empire had defenses primed 24/7.

Giving his armor one last fist punch, confirming its plating was secure and set the 'Traitorous' Sith made his way towards the, slowly strolling toward the area where the ground troopers where harnessed in, himself not needing to, the force worked just well enough to abate external pressure. Soon though the troopers standing up, the yellow light indicating their final approach, himself thinking about the irony of a Sith serving with the Twilight company, the name suited well, not that it would be Twi'light for long.

In a second the sunlight blasted through the opening, along with actual blaster, Yuvie raising his hand to block one aimed at a trooper standing adjacent, "... lucky, you may live through the landing, now best get moving". The solider gave a small stunned looked before repelling down, the Mirialan tensing his legs up, favoring a different approach to reaching the LZ. With a large force push Yuvie launched into the air, sunlight enveloping around the black as nigh armor worn on the former inquisitor, the figure temporally vanishing from, before it suddenly started falling back to the ground, faster and faster and faster until...

A loud crashing sound as the armored Mirialan landed on the ground, the feeling of no force suddenly enveloping his body, "nothing new, just think of it as another undercover mission, with actual fighting, fun".

Rex was inside the main HQ over looking the addition of some new people to some of the legions at Kaine's command. Sometimes Rex thought that the man had to many forces then again he was the general of all the mando's ground forces. Rex had a laugh at that thought. That was when the Alarm went off. Rex immediately understood what it was and took control of the situation.
kytzqkd1.png

"Okay call the patrols back in." "There are only 2 out there sir." "Doesn't matter call them back. I want the AT-BT's still here online now. I want the rest of the men in gear and in there combat positions within 5. I also want the DA-7's moved outside and I want them hooked up to a Sovereign-class Heavy Tank so that our boys out there aren't shelled by our own guns, and get the others on the field." "It will be done sir." "Good so who are we up against?" "GA Sir." "Damn it okay, give me a com-link I am going to lead from the front like a true mando." A Comm-link was handed to him as he made his way outside.
kytzqkd1.png
Rex would walk outside. The DA-7's where being set up and 3 of the AT-BT's were online along with 2 of the Sovereign class Heavy Tank. "Come on your mando's you are always ready for battle get the rest online for me." "Yes sir." Rex would watch as the last of the DA-7's were set up when a mando came to him. "Sir. GA have landed a corvette not far from here." "Kark really damn it, get a horn to the village and to the stars we need so help. I was prepared for fighters not a corvette. Get the fighters here up and running to." "Sir that will take at least 10 to get the first flight out." "Well lets hope the village or Kaine can spare so fighters to give us a hand." "Will do sir." The mando would run of to ask for some help.
Action Summary
2x 10 mandos with a AT-BT were on patrol, they are currently returning to base
12x DA-7 are being set up with a link to a Sovereign-class Heavy Tank for the MBE-1
3x AT-BT are active with the other 2 being turned on
2x Sovereign-class Heavy Tank are fully crewed with the other 5x crews getting their gear together.

He slipped his helmet over his face and charged a round into his MF44. Shots rang out as Alliance shock troopers descended to the base, and return fire from the Mandalorians formed a hellish landscape that he'd been partial to many times before. A Mandalorian near him tumbled outward as a round hit him in the neck, causing him to squirm and convulse before he quickly met his end.

Karsan rolled into cover, launching his one and only grenade he managed to snatch up before the chaos happened with the momentum of the roll. The grenade rolled and exploded, but Karsan wasn't able to see the damage. Karsan turned his head towards the approaching Mandalorians, and directed them with a wave of his arm into respectable defensive positions.

This was going to be a hard fight.

He may not be declared active in the GADF any longer, not since his desertion and the subsequent return. He focused more on become a Jedi, a leader in the Order, than serving as an acting combat pilot and special forces operative. But the fact that he was who he was, meant that he heard when things were going down. And the call that some of the GADF was headintg to the world of Myrkr. A planet Coren couldn’t tolerate for its anti-Force bubble making lizards, and the Ysalamiri.

Yeah, the Starchaser didn’t care for Mandos. And this world was one of those places he just avoided at all costs. The fact that he was aboard the Spear of the Alliance, in orbit being flanked by a pair of Scythe-class cruisers. The Jedi Master nodded to the ship’s captain and commander. “Bring us into formation with Vindicator. And set the Scythes out to settle the entry zone. And alert group two to warm up their drives. We’ll need them in here to chase the Mandos away.”

“As you command,” stated the Vaemath commander. Coren nodded and made his way down towards the hangar.

“Porter, ready the E-Wing, we’re going to be taking that out along with the A-s and Y-s.” As Coren got down to the hangar, he tossed on his flight helmet and warmed up the engines of his fighter. Seeing the others lifting from the deck, he and his group hurried out into space.

“Vindicator Actual, this is Tiburon One. Starchaser’s battlegroup has entered the fray, and deployed fighters, need us on space support or helping on the ground?” The Jedi Master allowed his astromech to link into the rest of the fighters. They were going to spread out to engage any Mando fighters in the area, and the bombers, Y-Wings mostly, were going to be heading directly for capital ships.

The sun was out shinning down, giving warmth to those gathered at the Hyllyard market place. The market place itself was an open court yard area… a mixture of different style of tents. The ground cobbled brick. At the edge of the court yard stood buildings that served as dwellings for the residents of this city.

The verity of the people flowing through the market place, there was no one race. It was a proud mixture of beings living together in a beautiful complex code of life. There was a mixture of the old and the young, the common and the noble. They were people whom were just trying to make a living. The vast majority was just people and not the battle hardened warriors you hear in tales of Mandalorian conquest.

Mothers bought goods while their children played nearby. Hunters sold their collected meets and pelts from the jungle of Myrkr. This was not a city that was expecting an attack.

The peaceful interaction in the market place was interrupted.

Beams of light flashed through the sky toward Hyllyard city. One bolt hit the market place. Death was swift to those caught under the beam of light. The solid impact sent a violent cloud of a mixture of debris into the air. The unfortunate people within its path were either crushed by heavy debris or choking of the dirt that was flung up into the air.

Surprised Kista dropped the leathers she had bought today. She was momentarily stunned as she watched the destruction of that one act of war.

Like many other people standing around watching, she too heard the call of Mandalore.

Another bolt came speeding in. Kista was standing far enough back. She could see one child was not. The child would surely be crushed by debris.

Fiery blood pumped through her as she began to move. Her muscles tightened and relaxed as she started in a dead run. The vong tech running through her propelled her forward. In her HUD she started to see her armor’s system beginning to clock her speed. Then her armor activated its unique ability. The crushgaunt tech that lay within the suit like layers of muscles came to life. Her speed increased to a point she was only a blur of movement. It was only a couple of breathes before she was between the child and the debris cloud.

Bricks and wood pounded the back of her shielding. She lurched several times forward but the hidden strength of the armor kept her from failing over onto the child. When the dust cloud settled, the child had a few small scratches and coughing. The child was alive though.

Kista looked down at the child. Feeling a small victory she smiled. “You will live to fight another day, vod”, Kista said showing a softer side of her.

“Go to your mother” Kista released the child from her protective grasp. “When you are older, you can answer the call”, she said as the child ran over to his mother.

Kista stood back up and turned to the direction the capital ship fire came in. High in the sky she could see the massive ships that were breaking orbit and bringing troops to the ground. Other Mando’ade around Kista noticed this to. Some moved to take the old and the young to safety.

Others like Kista, they started to move forward hearing the call. For these defenders there was nowhere to run. There was only one direction and it was forward. They would protect their people even if it meant death!

Clad in power armor, the admiral watched the troops attached to his task force march down the Purity of Thunder's ramps in a mostly orderly fashion. He turned his head to scan the tree line, half expecting to see shots ring out from amid the murky woods. Yet none did...yet. His fur rippled. Then again, a sniper isn't a match the Thunder's guns. It provided him with a little solace knowing that the assault carrier could easily chew apart any attacker that showed themselves too close to him, yet he knew that the Thunder couldn't push itself into Hyllyard City itself. That is, not if they expected to capture anything useful for later study. The naval intelligence officer turned his head to a short man standing next to him, similarly clad in GA power armor.

"Colonel Ramt, where's 2nd of 31st Assault Company?"

The man shifted his eyes downward, telling the bothan all that he needed to know. As brutally effective as the 31st could be, they weren't the most easily motivated or controllable much of the time. What did he do to piss of Krebesh this time? He turned his eyes past the figurehead leader to a slender man clad in the simple blast armor typical of the rest of the 31st Regiment.

"Sergeant Yrotas, tell me why the 2nd isn't out here."

"Reasons."

"Not good enough."

"That's all I know," said the man with a shrug, "something about a batch of spice liquor that needs a little bit more work in the vats."

Oh for fek's sake...He toggled his armor's internal comlink, "Comms, get me a line with Major Gresk stat."

"One moment sir."

The communication officer's voice faded away, leaving him to hear a dull static as the naval officer attempted to patch his line with the other soldier. The bothan took that time to watch the rest of the disembarkment. The Directorate Rangers seemed to disappear as soon as they marched off of the ramp, disappearing into the tree lines in small teams to set up defensive positions to hold the ground around the Purity of Thunder. As capable of troops as they were, Kre'fey knew that they wouldn't be the best for actually assaulting into the city itself, nor was he sure if they would really want to, especially after witnessing the orbital firestorm from the Vindicator onto the city itself. Well, hopefully enough of the city will be shattered and unsecured that we can find something or someone useful without too much resistance...but we are facing Mandalorians after all...there's bound to be a least a few of them with some fight in them still...His thoughts were interrupted by a brief chime announcing a connection had been established. A baritone voice filtered through his helmet.

"Yello, this is Gresk."

"Major, if I don't see your troops marching out of the hold in five minutes, you can tell them that they are going to have supply difficulties for that little hobby of theirs shortly."

"Ah...I think I can make the understand that, sir."

"Good. They better be ready as part of the second wave. Understood?"

"Understood."

"Kre'fey out."

He cut the comm line and turned to Yrotas, the unofficial leader of one of the 31st more reliable platoons, "Sergeant, let's get underway."

The man whistled down to his troops and gave a few arm signals, causing the platoon to break formation and enter loose formations by squad. Yrotas jogged down the ramp with Kre'fey hot on his heels. As their boots touched the ground, the bothan could see that the platoon was already jogging forward towards the city. He marveled at how quick they were on their feet, especially when he thought about his time on Bothawui in the Academy. He followed Yrotas past one squad. But they are carrying less than the Bothan Honor Guard...They entered the treeline, and glancing around, he thought for a second that he saw one of the Directorate rangers at the base of a tree. But at a second glance, no-one seemed to be there. He shook the thought of the phantom trooper away as his eyes turned to the upcoming road that led directly into the center of the city, labelled as 85th street on the electronic map. His suit's built-in HUD began to light up as the suit began to scan the upcoming city and then map it by its built-in sonic mapper. Yrotas suddenly halted and fell down into a kneeling position, causing the admiral to the same and bring his rifle up to the ready, half expecting some Mandalorian to jet into the sky and attack them, but none did so. Nor did he or his HUD see any threat.

Yrotas turned to the scattered fire team to his left, "Tanith, you get your team's heavy repeaters set up here in that irrigation ditch, provide us with a base of fire in case they're expecting us. Everyone else, on me, let's take the gate. Stay spread out. And remember, the boss here wants prisoners, not limp and charred bodies, got it? All right, let's go."

A murmur of acknowledgements echoed among the group before the troopers all rose again. The dispersed group began to roll across the field and into Hyllyard City itself with their blasters at the ready. Kre'fey began to feel beads of sweat roll down his face, not so much do to the physical activity (his suit kept him pretty cool) but of nervousness. Going into a battle is hell of lot easier when you're behind five meters of durasteel in space...With my luck, if I don't catch a blaster bolt, I'm going to contract Falsin's Rot...

Auxiliary objective: Ambush [member="Bandor Kre'fey"]

Forces with Skosk: 50 mandalorians

Garrison: Various squads in the numbers of 10 vod scattered throughout the road.

The amount of bombardment had hit the city badly, mainly in the market were the orbital bombardment had focused in the city. However this was not the only problem, the witness had watched as Myrkr's various forrest's were set aflame due to strikes . Screams of various innocents disturbed even this battle hardened mandalorian, oh boy did he want blood for this. The horned being had seen much action throughout his lifetime. Yet this angered him the most, his vod, his allit, dying by these aggressors. This was the life of the mandode, to die and fight in battle. It was an honor for them, as it would be Skosk one day. However, the T-visor warrior would avenge them for such insolence, for such gall as to attack the greatest warriors in the galaxy.

The mandalorian channel was cluttered with various hails, and calls from his fellow vod readying a defense. The mountain of an individual could not help his vod who were engaged throughout the city. The main road was priority defense, it lead through the market place, to the base inside the city, and finally making its way to the town center. If the enemy took this gate, the city would be karked for sure. This objective was of the utmost importance, the city garrison sent as many men as it could spare to this front line. Due to other points in the city needing security, such as side paths, the market place, the base itself, the dwellings ,and the city walls. The police force would have to reinforce the gates, in hopes of future Galactic Alliance waves being held back.

During the commotion of the bombardment the warrior had received forty armed mandalorians at his position. The nukmbers bolster was widely needing as the ground troops hid in nearby alley's waiting to swoop down upon hearing the explosion . The base had also delivered several sniper teams among the complexes and dwellings hugging the 85th. These sniper teams for sure would greatly assist the gate forces should a larger contingent of troops attack. This front was prepared for any action, especially forces moving forward as of late. The red, massive tank of a being had peered around the corner spotting a platoon being led by a naval officer in power armor. This would certainly be a perfect target to kiill or capture, the zabrak thought to himself.

Upon Alliance troopers entering the kill zone, the demolitions expert at the push of a button activated the seismic charges. The detonator button making a Click! noise following the massive explosion. Buildings toppled half the platoon, having debris, and large structures fall on the unfortunate victims. The survivors where inside the city but with no cover, and without the ability of using the gate to retreat backwards, making this a huge opportunity. The muscular brute and his fifty men had emerged from the alley's onto the street , firing hails of blaster bolts at the survivors, along with the sniper support getting in on the action. The majority of the survivors falling like bugs being squashed. Some of the mandalorian's men had fall upon returning fire, and in response his repeater blared with intensity killing six men himself . However, the naval officer in power armor surely would respond. There were several paths to the right or left that his forces could retreat to, the warrior knew there would be more troops on the way. The ambush was set, how many survivors would make it to cover?

Skosk casualties: 1 wounded, 1 dead.

Fighting strength: 48 men, plus the various sniper nests.

The Alliance fleet came within a tooth of the planet, and my comms lit up. Death washed into the air, and I could taste it on the burning wind. Not even Mandalorians begin a conflict by setting a forest full of people on fire.

“Ambrose! I see the reports, I’m mustering up [member="Quoron Mantis"] and my Hell Wolf Fleet. We’re en route. Hold out, eh old man?” Mand’alor the Infernal’s voice was the most welcome and familiar.

“I’ll take control of the garrison in the city. We’ll protect them, Mand’alor. Be safe… Ka’lo? Protect our girl, cyar’ika.” They were the last words I might speak to my wife.

The exercises, which brought my Yalilyr and myself to Myrkr were supposed to be a way to rectify the tension between Death Watch and Clan Australis.

“The Yalilyr thanks you for the heads up, [member="Skosk Fett"]. Give me updates.”

There was nothing better to relieve tension than fighting one war against a common enemy. The fleet fired down on the jungle, setting life itself on fire. Someone else would have to deal with the fire. I rushed with my Yalilyr to Colonel Vevut and defences. The chatter from the minor officers gave me a headache. There was no questioning in Death Watch. Sometimes I forget the rest of the military functions by its’ own set of rules.

“The next person who questions an order gets shot in the codpiece.” My armour is indicative of my place. Death Watch is my Clan, and I, their Alor, am loyal to only one.

Mand’alor the Infernal.

“Roll out every defence we have. Mand’alor the Infernal is en route, these brigands will not win this day! Prep the gun placements! Unleash the new machines! Call the Bral from the east city! Find me a sniper and put him on alert for enemy targets. ([member="Garon Priest"]) There! A force is oncoming from the Union-Class Assault Cruiser. Find the leader of it and eliminate them. Fire at their troops, create a bottleneck… and get me an itinerant list of what we have at our disposal!”

"Status, Mister Bashir?"

"Burning into range of their long guns now, Commodore," the ship's first officer Commander Bashir reported crisply, "Local defenses are impressive for a border outpost, but so far within acceptable parameters."

"We must have caught them by surprise," Mazik mused, stroking his chin thoughtfully. There was a gleam in his eye, "Just like Dagobah."

He had been on Dagobah when the Mandalorians had turned, not yet posted to the Hereafter but serving planetside in command of one of the the GADF's atmospheric repulsorcarriers. When the call came in from the Alliance's primary military base on the surface requesting aid before it was sacked, then Captain Stazi had been on the other end helpless to respond while his vessel was under attack by Galactic Imperial boarding parties.

"If we do this, there's no going back," the Mon Cal reminded him one last time. He knew Bashir had his doubts, as an executive he was aware this wasn't an entirely sanctioned operation.

"There's already no going back," his eyes narrowed, and the Commodore turned to fully meet his subordinate's gaze, "We have our orders. The chain of command is clear."

After a moment's hesitation, Bashir was forced to nod in acquiescence. Supreme Commander [member="Aryn Teth"] was their chief superior, and he had conscripted Commodore Stazi's patrol group onto this raiding expedition. The duros had of course neglected to mention to his first officer that he had made his feelings on the Mandalorian Empire quite clear in a meeting that preceded these anomalous orders. Bashir was better kept insulated from such political considerations that came with the life of a flag officer.

"They're starting to track us," before the words even left Bashir's mouth, there was a distant rumbling sound indicative of incoming HVC shells slamming against their deflectors, "Shields holding for now, but we need to close on that artillery soon."

"Return fire on enemy battlecruiser with long range turbolasers. Rotate onto the Vindicator's flank," Stazi gestured, inputting coordinates into the holographic display model of their immediate surroundings, "The Resolute and Devout will lead us in, escorts in staggered formation with the Hereafter as the tip of the spear. Let's show their Mandalore we know how to slug back."

It did not take long for the Mando's to react once Yuvie and the other members of Twilight company hit deck, "everyone down and ready? we will be making an attempt for the main HQ, our CR90 will provide us cover, just hope the enemy does not have a large amount of anti air weapons". So far the troop had be only exposed to small arms fire from local patrols that had been out, dropping a few of the GA shoulders but not lasting long again the overwhelming force, soon a beach head being established on the ground.

"For this task I wont be able to use the force, so don't rely on me to notice any sudden shift, but just remember, any force users the Mandos have won't work either, so this is a very traditional war got that". It was more a statement then an order but same old same old, now it was time to more out least the enemy get the upper hand on them. "Also you need a door hacked just give me a shout, no security can keep me out for long, we capture the main HQ and shut down the rest of the base, less fighting, but do not expect the Mando's to surrender, be prepared to have them fight to the death".

A rather honorable thing to do, but he was unsure if it was due to the fanatical nature or just a belief that one got some sort of reward, not that it mattered, at the end of the day a dead person was a dead person regardless of abilities, "Move out stay low and don't die". With quick movement the Twilight company spread over the battle field, making haste to the HQ but keeping a careful eye out for the enemy.

Rex was impressed with the speed the Mando's moved with. The two artillery batteries that had been doing tests had fired at the corvette. They had also managed to get the DA-7's were already up and running. The first salvo had already gone. It was aimed at [member="Bandor Kre'fey"] forces. He had gotten the co-ordinates from someone within [member="Skosk Fett"] group. With the accuracy and damage out put they had. It should make the GA hurt real bad. Thankfully the GA also didn't have comms and that any force users they had couldn't fight with the force or this would be a vastly different battle.
kytzqkd1.png
By the time both the patrols got back the rest of the AT-BT's were online and ready to go. Most of the divisions of mandos were already at there assigned positions and all but one of the Sovereign-class heavy tanks were online. He was thankful that the GA were silly enough to go straight for the city. It was exactly like them to do something like that. He was glad he wasn't a Jedi otherwise he would be appalled at the GA's actions right now.
He still was but that was largely due to the fact that these were his people. His Clan, and it was His to defend.
kytzqkd1.png
He had also heard word of a company of men and women on there way to try and attack him. Maybe the GA were as silly as he had expected but to get to him they would have to deal with [member="Strider Garon"] and his men if they hadn't already made their way into the city. He would slow there approach the next set of salvos would target the companies position and would most likely hit. It wouldn't kill all of them but enough to either slow them or make them abandon there attack. He would hold the base as much as his blood itched for war.

Action Summary
All patrols have reported back in

6x Sovereign-class Heavy Tank are fully crewed with the last crew still getting themselves together. They are also sitting at the front of the complex.
Still waiting for the fighters from within the HQ to be readied almost there.

Brent was looking at a holo on the table he was sitting at which showed figures in some type of sports match he didn't know the name of. He didn't cheer for a team, he used the holo as a distraction so he could stay in the bar longer and drink. It had been a relatively quiet day so far, nothing really on his agenda except to keep drinking. He would have to leave the city soon though he knew, there were still things in the galaxy he needed to figure out.

Brent was enjoying his drink and the holo when he heard the cries and screams from outside, and the loud explosions from what he could only guess was some sort of attack on the city. He guessed leaving the planet soon would have to be put on hold. He had been brooding in a dark corner of the bar like he usually did nowadays, but when he walked outside and saw the horizon was lit with flames and smoke, he let a small smile creep on his face. He donned his bucket and turned his comms on to listen to the chatter to find out what was going on.

Amid the screams of men and women he deduced the Galactic Alliance had come to test their mettle and smash themselves against Mando'a armor. He did not remember ever testing his prowess against anyone from the GA before. He let his mind sink into a state ready for battle, breathing deeply and calmly, getting ready for what was to come.

Once his head was clear from random thoughts, he looked around. He noticed Mando's running back and forth throughout the city, carrying wounded and preparing themselves for the defense of the city. Over the comms he heard someone calling out about 85th street, a main line of travel through the city. If the GA attempted to overrun whatever defenses were set up along the 85th, they would have an easy path of travel to take over Hyllyard.

Brent checked his weapon readouts and made sure he was battle ready. He ran his hand along his armor and made sure it was secured in place and he had all his necessary gear. As ready as he could be, he started off towards the warriors who were undoubtedly holding back the GA attack along the 85th. He would make himself as valuable as he could and let the GA know they had erred heavily in attacking Hyllyard.

Kneeling down next to Sergeant Yrotas, the bothan watched as the first elements of the 31st leapfrogged into the city itself. Yrotas will take us in the next bound...His pulse quickened. From a fundamental tactical standpoint, he knew that entering the 'fatal funnel' would perhaps be among the most dangerous part of the mission for the vanguard. Not only were they entering a narrow space, but it was an unknown one at that. He half-expected a sniper to begin to precisely pick them off, or for a hidden repeater nest to suddenly open fire, but none did so. Several more Coruscanti troopers converged to help secure the area. He breathed a sigh of relief when suddenly the world's reality seemed to shift around them: buildings that once stood undamaged suddenly toppled to the ground and sent out a rain of debris around them. The first troops of the vanguard vanished in the rubble and the dust. A curious mixture of emotions flooded over the bothan's consciousness. On one hand, like any commander, he hated losing troops and material on a strategic and personal level. Yet on the other hand, he felt surprised that the mandalorians would so quickly resort to blowing up their own structures, especially civilian ones that likely belonged to private citizens. Then again, the Supreme Commander already made it clear with the bombardment that collateral damage is not something that he cares about. Underneath his armor, the bothan's fur rippled in discontent. But orders are orders...Yrotas raised his voice, which immediately caught his attention, rallying the troops to hunker down and remain dispersed until they could better discern the nature of the threat in front of them.

As part of that, both the sergeant and Kre'fey jumped into a newly created crater from the blast. Lugging one of the repeating blasters, Tanith bounded up and collapsed down next to them as they began to reset the weapon up to provide fire support against whatever the mandalorians threw at them. As Tanith fixed the weapon onto its tripod, his assistant powered up the portable shield projector, giving them a measure of more protection at whatever they'd throw at them next. That proved to be soon as Taff's DA-7s began to rain down hypervelocity plasma fire on the troops. Keeping a dispersed formation largely meant that the group wouldn't be easily wiped out by a single hit. He saw pair of GA troopers hunkered down disappear in an instant from one of the bolts. At least they died quickly and probably painlessly... He toggled his comlink.

"Purity of Thunder, return fire to the origin point of that artillery fire. Provide us with local ECM protection and jam their comm lines."

"Understood, executing."

Several blocks away, several of the Thunder's Plumbata Defensive Missile Batteries launched volleys of 3t3 missiles at the artillery pieces. Each missile carried a proton warhead with a 4.5 meter blast radius, meaning that even a near miss had the potential to cause damage. Simultaneously, the Erebus Arrays of the carrier began to project from the ship through their formation and into the city itself, making precise targeting by sensors unreliable. While that would affect their own ability to launch future precision artillery strikes, he felt it was worth it if it would keep him and more of his men alive. The Oracle Communications Package's subspace transceiver on the assault carrier switched to a selected jamming mode, flooding comlink channels known to be used by the mandalorians in the area with static. He toggled comlink channels.

"Colonel Netbers, I need more overwatch over the entrance into Hyllyard City."

"Already have two squads watching over you. Will move more towards you shortly."

From their vantage point in the jungle, the Directorate Rangers would be able to provide covering and suppressive fire from their perches in their trees if any of the Mandalorians showed themselves. The bothan turned around to briefly look at the woods, but saw none of the rangers. What he did see was a dispersed platoon of the 31st darting up the clearing to join them. Yrotas yelled, and the shattered remains of the platoon jumped to their feet with rifles and repeaters in hand to once more probe into the city itself.
