Private An Interesting Encounter

So they agreed they wouldn't do too much until the next day. But then Mila brought up the problem of what to do now. They had a bit of time before it would really be night and they could reasonably sleep, so what? He furrowed his brow trying to think about it. He didn't exactly have many things to do onboard.

He leaned back tapping his utensils against his plate in thought, "Ardon = Has no idea. Anyone = Has suggestions?" he asked. It wasn't like they could go for some kind of run or something. Truth was he would like to talk more with Mila, however, how to say that he didn't quite know. Even if he could speak normally that was something that he just didn't know how to articulate.

(Sorry for the wait crazy week, and still more time to go. Posts will probably slow down a bit.)

Mila thought about it too. And she was stumped. Talking was a nice pastime, and it let her know people better, but she didn't know what she could say, or who to talk to. Ardon was really nice and someone who seemed to be most interested in what she had to say, and she definitely didn't mind listening to him either. He was clear and concise, and interesting.

Taros spoke up first. "Why don't we go out and work on a secondary shelter, just in case things go south? As a place to hide should fight or flight fail."

(Been pretty crazy for me too so don't worry)

A secondary shelter, that might be a good plan. Just in case they could store some of the non perishable foods there as well. If for some reason they couldn't get back to the ship, having something to eat could be vital to survival. "Ardon = Agrees. We = Can take some supplies from ship." he thought about it some more, "Ardon = Has little experience building shelter. Ardon = Not sure where to start."

He understood the basic concepts, it was more the actual implementation. You wanted the right ground, and if you didn't have it you'd have to make it. But with what? Build the walls with wood? That'd take a long while. Maybe a tarp is possible. He probably had one of those inside. Then it basically became a game of 'how good are you at stringing things.'

No one had any real experience or expertise regarding construction of anything. They could work it out using basic knowledge of how to tie sticks together and how they can waterproof things. That and just a plan would work wonders on actually getting it built. So that’s where Mila thought they should start. And she voiced this.

“Well let’s figure out what we want it to be used for first. Do we want it only to be a storehouse for resources Andy builds the potential hideout shelter elsewhere or do we want it to be all in one? After we decide on that, I recommend that we decide on how we’re going to build it. Underground or above ground? So on and so forth.”

“I say that we build both together, underground, a little foxhole that’s we can hide in with a dugout compartment for food and such.”

Ardon listened to the suggestions, they needed a plan before they could start. Which naturally made sense, however then came the matter of making something underground. That was not particularly appealing, he didn't know how they'd make something stable enough without any prior experience to avoid it collapsing, unless they didn't make it deep. Or maybe they would make it just deep enough that it was technically underground, but not so deep that if it collapsed, they'd not be able to get out.

Ahh, boxes. That was a solution, he liked up with a smile, "We = Can use cargo boxes for structure underground. Sekret droid = has: plasma cutter + saw + Arc Welder. Angel = Still has empty cargo boxes." he thought a little more, "Digging = use what? Ardon = Doesn't have shovels or digger."

Have to have some ingenuity on that part. But aside from blowing holes in the ground using the ships cannon, he wasn't sure what else to do. And blasting holes seemed like something that'd get attention.

Mila Uhlesifa Mila Uhlesifa

"we can use the plasma cutter and welder on your droid to make some simple shovels, or at least trowels, from those boxes. Or we can just build something aboveground. It was just an idea." She said to him with thought.

"We could always just set up a basic skeleton structure and make a dirt mound shelter." Kark suggested. It could be inconspicuous, not hard to build and we won't have to worry about collapse."

Mila Uhlesifa Mila Uhlesifa

Mila suggested making of tools, that made sense. They also didn't have to do it underground, Kark suggested just adding a mound of dirt. Ardon nodded, that seemed a bit easier. They could still use the boxes for support in case the pirates, or whoever they were, tried to go right over the mound. He didn't feel like getting crushed by a tank or something.

"Ardon = Ok with either option. Ardon = Ready to get started." He said simply.

So after a short discussion and a vote, they got to work. Using one empty box, the droid's plasma cutter and welding tool, they made four total shovels, which were really trowels.

So they got to work. They did a bit of a hybrid, digging down into the ground to get room while building a dome or cone of earth above it for shelter. With a single tunnel to get in.

They worked until nightfall. Ardon and Taros were the ones that seemed to do the most hard labour, or at least the most effective, while Mila and Kark got the roof's structure in check. Mostly using long poles that were cut and shaped from the boxes left, and welded into the proper shape for a domed roof. The curve was fairly shallow, which meant that not a lot of dirt needed to be put on it, and it could also pass for a simple rise in the earth if hidden properly.

Once it was done, it seemed pretty sound, and if it collapsed while they were in there, they'd not need to get through a lot of dirt to get out.

So Mila looked at the result, satisfied. She looked to Ardon. "What do you think?"

Off to work! They had their plan, and they were executing it. It was not the type of work that Ardon was used to, loading and unloading sure, but digging and construction were very much not things that he had taken a huge amount of part in. He got a little bit of experience working on mechanics, but that was mainly as repairs. And for that everything was mostly already built, you were just editing it.

He put his hands on his hips as they looked at it, and her heard Mila Uhlesifa Mila Uhlesifa ask his thoughts, he smiled, he looked pretty pleased, if somewhat exhausted, which was fair given the conditions. "Ardon = Happy with this! We = Did a good job. Circumstances = Not great. We = Have adapted relatively well."

She smiled at his response. "That's great to hear. Now let's get some food in it and get back inside, it's getting dark."

So they hauled a few of the non-perishable foods into the little hut, and a few canteens of water for later, and then returned to the ship. Since it was getting late she decided to say goodnight to Ardon, but first ask about the alarm system.

She asked, "so how do we plan to set up this alarm system? And do you need any help with it?"

Ardon nodded in agreement, just add food. They got what they could, extra water, and Ardon stashed some extra ammo inside. Though he still kept the majority on the ship. He looked over as he saw Mila Uhlesifa Mila Uhlesifa looking to ask a question and smiled at her. She asked about the alarm system and if he needed any help.

He shook his head, "Sekret = Come here please." he said aloud, the quick scuttling of the droid could be heard before it would appear as Ardon responded more properly, "Sekret Astromech = Can monitor over night. Ardon = Will hook up wirelessly to: Basic sensors. If sensors = sense change: Ardon or droid = Will know. You = can sleep well."

The droid showed up and he smiled at it, a rather scorpion like droid. He rather enjoyed it actually, it almost felt more alive because of it. At least, it did to him.

Mila smiled and nodded her understanding. “Great!”

She looked at the Astromech when it came up, she hadn’t seen a scorpion Astromech before, and it was most curious. She absolutely loved droids, vehicles and machines, anything that had to do with technology or mechanics she absolutely adored. She smiled back up at Ardon and said, “well it is getting late. I’m going to turn in, goodnight Ardon.”

And with tha she gave him a quick hug, then turned around and went into the crew’s quarters, where she chose a bunk and laid down to sleep.

Ardon nodded as she said goodnight, "Ardon = Wishes you goodnight." she gave him a quick hug, which he was somewhat surprised about but certainly not bothered. And then she was off to find her bunk to sleep. He remained behind for awhile, making sure the droid knew what to do and setting up how his own cybernetics would work with the ships sensors. Setting it up so that most things wouldn't wake him up as he went to bed and went to sleep.

Then he headed off, locked his door, and laid down. A lot had happened today. A lot to think on. It wasn't the easiest sleep. But eventually, it happened.

Her sleep was sound and uninhibited. And she woke up at 9:00 like she usually did, she would normally go to a bathroom, brush her teeth and such, but she wasn’t aware of any real bathroom and she didn’t want to steal a toothbrush so she was going to skip that. She did a few basic stretches before walking out into the rest of ship. She’d go out to the cockpit to see if anyone was outside, then to the kitchen to see if she might find a recipe book and get breakfast started.

Ardon slept rather peacefully all things considered. But he'd always been that way. Could spend a few minutes laying down worrying, but once he was asleep, it was usually a good sleep. He was used to regular danger, just not this much type of danger. And definitely not with these restrictions. His ship was usually the method of escape, but now everything had to be done on foot, and it felt just a little wrong.

He woke up sometime around seven. And then just laid in bed for awhile thinking, going over what had happened. Eventually he got up, got dressed, and started checking over the ship. He gave a quick sweep outside before he returned and just sat around for awhile. Eventually he heard Mila moving around and made his way to see her as she went to the kitchen. "Ardon = Greeting morning to you." he said smiling, "You = Sleep well?"

Mila Uhlesifa Mila Uhlesifa

She smiled at him, “I slept very well thank you. How did you sleep Ardon?”

She stood right in front of him, and said. “Mind helping me make breakfast? Or rather would you mind teaching me how? I’d love to learn more.”

(Sorry bout the short post.)

Mila Uhlesifa Mila Uhlesifa

"Ardon = Glad to hear. Ardon = Also slept well." he responded smiling. She asked if he wanted to help, or help teach her. "Ardon = Happy to. Ardon = was hoping to spend more time with you."

Might have come out a bit wrong he realized. Making him grimace slightly before getting ready to actually figure out how one teaches cooking. Being on the recieving end was all fine. Being on the explaining end was not.

(No worries. Shorter posts are easier for me right now also)

“Great!” She said happily, she wasn’t bothered by the odd wording. She knew from the first day of talking with him that words didn’t come easily to him. “Any suggestions on what we can make? Perhaps some eggs?”

She was glad that he was the first one awake. She wasn’t very adventurous in her social life, and tended to stick with the friends she already had. She had met with him in the cell, so interaction wasn’t exactly avoidable. But now she had a social partner so she’d likely stick with him.

He was again quickly left uncertain about what exactly to make. Eggs, she mentioned. He smiled, glad he didn't actually have to come to a proper conclusion. "Ardon = Agrees. Ardon = Also has bread. We = Can make toast + eggs." he said. He had a few choices of egg available but they were all relatively the same thing just from different animals, they were marked, but mostly just for sanitary reasons. And also because he felt that mixing the different types of eggs just didn't taste right.

"Ardon = prefers to scramble. Scrambling = Easier. Ardon = Has some appropriate spices in cupboards. Ardon = Goes with anything but: Doesn't like bland. Ardon = Is willing to poach or fry." he mentioned, naturally by spices he did not mean the illegal kind. Most were standard, again, nothing particularly impressive. He was open to different ways of doing the eggs.

Mila Uhlesifa Mila Uhlesifa

She didn't understand half of what he was talking about. Not because of his odd way of speaking, if anything his sentences being math equations helped out a lot. No, she didn't understand cooking terminology, so much of what he said about cooking eggs was beyond her capability of understanding. To be fair, spending five years doing nothing but dancing for a crime lord left little time for other things. "I'll... Trust your judgement on this. I don't know the difference between poaching and trying or scrambling, so please. Teach me Master Ardon."

This last bit was added as a bit of a joke by referencing what the Jedi did, calling teachers Master and such. Whether he got it or not she didn't know.
