Kahlil tilted his head. He didn't see it himself.

Aris continued to sip his drink, just watching his mother and sister talk with the calm expression on his face. Then he blinked. His name? Ah, right. People had names. Didn't he hear mom and dad earlier..? Then..?

"Aris, like mom and dad named me."

<Don't play innocent~> she snickered a little. Yeah, he was a lot like Kahlil with the calm aura, although Kahlil had been a lot less like that in recent years. Still, Aris was a lot more like his dad at first glance than his mother. The opposite of Vera in a way, but that would only make things interesting around the house. How would they interact and get along? How would their relationship as siblings grow? It was going to be a joy seeing all of it unfold and being a part of it at the same time.

"Aris is a pretty name!" Vera said with a big nod. "Welcome home, Aris." Vera then stepped forward, uncaring that he was still drinking, and wrapped her little arms around him for a hug.

Figures that Vera would be the first to steal a hug from him, but Kahlil would be able to tell that Valery was struggling not to pick Aris up for a big hug too. The cuteness overload was overwhelming her momma senses.

"Are you hungry? Or is there anything else you'd like, sweetie?" she then asked Aris with a warm, loving smile.

Kahlil just snickered before nodding in defeat. Yeah, this was very much like him wasn't it? That was good, though. Or at least made him think that he really was Aris's dad. At the mention of food though he got right up and grinned as he moved towards the kitchen. It was pancake time.

"I'll get something made, alright?"

Aris though just tilted his head to the side and glanced between all three of them.

"I am hungry. Do you have nutritional paste handy in the room dad is going to?"

"Sounds like a great idea," Valery said, and Vera already knew what was going to make too. "Yes!" she called out with a little bounce in her step, before turning back to Aris. He didn't seem even half as excited, but then again, she figured that he had no clue what meal was about to be served.

His question only confirmed it.

"We... don't have nutritional paste, no," Valery said, blinking. "We like to cook nice meals that we'll enjoy with the whole family. Dad is going to make us some pancakes - Vera's favorite and I'm sure you'll love it too.." She smiled, crouched down, and gently pulled him a little closer by grabbing the blankets around him.

"Are you cold or just comfy like this? I can get you some warmer clothes if you'd like."

"I am comfortable."

Aris nodded his head before staring up at Valery. Curiosity and confusion. Pancakes. Oh, yes. He'd read about pancakes. He hummed in thought before glancing again towards where Kahlil had disappeared towards.

"I think I will like pancakes."

"Good, you look very cozy all wrapped up like that," Valery said with a warm chuckle before she fixed up his blankies, and leaned in closer to bring an arm around his shoulders. She wanted to test the waters and see how he responded to physical touch and a hug from his mother. Because in reality, she wanted to just pick him up and pull him into a hug before maybe showing him around a little bit.

Dad would still be cooking for a little moment, after all.

Seeing her mother go for the hug, Vera squinted at Aris and seemed a little jealous. Her cheeks puffed up, but she knew that this was his first time here, so she quickly ran off towards the kitchen. "Daddy, can I help make pancakes?" she asked, mostly because she wanted the attention too.

"What would you like to do this evening, sweetie?" Valery then asked her son. "Play with Vera or watch shows with us maybe?"

He didn't react.

At least until Valery pulled away. Once she did he just reached up to pull her back gently into a hug. He'd never had a hug before. This was.. He smiled. The first smile of his life before he caught sight of Vera's jealous stare. He blinked in surprise before again looking towards Valery as Vera went to the other room.

"Vera didn't look happy. .. Was this a bad thing to do?"

"You can always help if you'd like, little star." Kahlil glanced down to Vera with a smile before holding out the bowl and the whisk for her to mix up the batter while he got the stove ready. "So, what do you think of Aris?"

Valery blinked and looked down at her son when he tugged her back to keep her close. Seeing him smile was... overwhelming, in the best way possible. So without wasting time, she wrapped her arms around him and hoisted him up for a nice, warm embrace in his blankets. Perhaps the first true hug, but it would certainly not be the last. Together with Kahlil, she was going to make sure he'd always feel loved.

"You're a big hugger, huh?" Valery smiled, but when she had him up in her arms, he asked a question that made her look toward the kitchen. So he noticed too? That thoughtfulness about his sister made her feel very warm inside.

"She can be a little jelly when mom or dad give a lot of attention to someone. She's just not used to it yet," Valery said with a chuckle. "But that's why she ran off to help Daddy, so don't worry, okay? She really likes you, I can tell with my momma senses." She leaned in closer now, and gently pressed her lips against his cheek for a small kiss.

"You know, Vera isn't your only sister. You have three other siblings too. Do you want to meet them?"

"He seems nice! I wanna play with him later if I can," Vera said while she started helping her dad make the pancake mix. "Mommy will still give me lots of hugs too, right?" Vera then asked a little more carefully.

"Oh."

Aris nodded slowly before smiling again. So he hadn't done anything bad. Hopefully he wouldn't make Vera too jealous in the future, but knowing that it was something to expect did seem to put him at ease. If he was ever not at ease.

"I have more siblings?"

And all at once excitement filled his eyes as he stared up at his mother. "I would very much like to see them, yes."

"Always, little star. We are family, all of us. I know it's weird, but.. He's been asleep for a long time, longer than he should've. He's learning a lot about what family actually means, so can I count on you to help teach him?"

"Mhmm, triplets too. So all of them were born at the same time. Two little sisters, and a little brother." Valery smiled when he seemed very interested in seeing them. So with her son in her arms, she walked over to the large bedroom they had for the three, opened the door, and walked inside while she tried to make as little noise as she could.

...only to find all three of them wide awake, staring up at Mom with a happy grin.

"Well, seems they also wanted to see you. This is Aurra, that's Aeryn and the little guy over here is Adam." Valery put Aris down, so he could get closer to the triplets, who were all squealing and flailing their arms at him for attention.

Meanwhile, Vera listened to her dad in the kitchen and nodded, "I did not see this in a vision, so it was not expected. But I promise I will help and protect him, daddy!" She had made this same promise about the triplets, and she would also care for her new brother in the same exact way. "I just also want to get hugs!" She giggled, grinned, and continued helping him make pancakes.

"Can I give him one of my plushies? Maybe he'll like them too."

Wonderment flashed in his eyes as he looked over the very awake and very animate triplets. He stepped closer, just looking them over in sheer curiosity. He could see both their parents in them, like with Vera.

"They are adorable."

"You will always have hugs, little star, don't you worry about that." He started to cook up the pancakes then, smiling down towards her with a simple nod. "But that sounds like a great idea."

"Right? All of you are adorable to me, and I love you very much," Valery said with a warm smile. He had probably never heard anybody tell him that before. I love you. But now that he was part of this family, she wanted him to never forget just how much his family would care about him.

The triplets already showed this, as Aeryn began reaching for him with grabby hands.

"Yay! I like hugs," Vera meanwhile told her father with a giggle. They were starting to cook up pancakes now, so she ran back and forth between the kitchen and the dinner table to start putting everything down. Not long ago, she'd have been too small to reach everything, but now she was really starting to grow fast.

"Should we call Mommy and Aris for pancakes?"

Aris reached out a hand towards the grabby one, mostly to let the little Aeryn take hold of his finger. And again, he smiled. Just a calm, simple smile before he looked up at Valery and nodded. "I like this family a lot. .. I think I'm lucky to be part of it so quickly after waking up."

"We should."

Kahlil reached down to ruffle Vera's hair a little before calling out.

"Pancakes are ready!"

Little Aeryn did, in fact, snatch his finger and squealed loudly while she pulled on it. Valery couldn't stop smiling because of the sibling interaction, and turned to Aris once he spoke up, "Well, we're very lucky to have you." She stepped behind him, placed her hands on his shoulders, and gently hugged her son against herself.

"Pancakes are ready!"

Valery blinked, reached down to take Aris' hand, and grinned, "Let's go try pancakes for the first time, huh?" she asked before guiding him over to the large dinner table, where Vera and Kahlil were already seated and ready to devour the best Noble meal there was.

Still wrapped up in blankets, Valery helped him up on his chair and sat down herself.

"Try one, Aris!" Vera called out excitedly. "It's yum with syrup!"

Aris stared blankly was he was at the table, between them all and the pancakes on the plate before him. He couldn't say he'd ever had something like this. It took a moment before he finally seemed to summon up the courage to give it a try. A knife in hand and a fork in the other he cut himself a piece, then slowly, very slowly, took the first tentative bite. And immediately his eyes sparkled with joy.

Vera blinked when he grabbed a knife and fork and looked down at the pancake that was dripping syrup all over her hands. To her, it was the only way to eat a pancake, so why was he being all proper with it? She supposed he didn't know that eating like a gremlin was an option, so she just returned to her pancake and took a huge bite.

Valery... just snickered. That was her daughter, alright.

"Yeah? You like it?" Valery smiled warmly. "Vera and Daddy made a lot, so eat as many as you'd like."

"Should eat them like this!" Vera chimed in, as she grabbed another with her bare hands, before devouring it with disgusting, large bites.

<...she didn't get that from me.>

Kahlil chuckled, just watching them both as he continued to eat his own pancakes. Aris, though, watched Vera for a moment before shaking his head. No, he would not be eating food like she did.

"That will get my hands dirty."

Valery was, in fact, eating the pancakes with her hands too. Just without making as much of a mess as Vera, but she also believed in the one true way to enjoy a pancake.

...maybe Vera really did get it from her.

"But it's fun! It tastes better, too," Vera said with a big nod, and Valery snickered in agreement. "Eat them however you like, sweetie, but I like to eat without a knife and fork too when it comes to pancakes." She then took another bite, and turned her gaze to her husband, seeking just a short connection.

She was happy, and she wanted him to know that after such a big change to the family. An important change.

"We should do something fun with the family to celebrate. Don't you think, love?"

"Hmm.. Something fun, huh?"

Kahlil reached up to rub at his chin in between bites, trying to figure out what exactly they could do. Here on this world, at least. There was.. Quite a bit, actually. He smirked, glancing to Valery before looking outside.

"Why don't we see if the locals are in the mood for a festival?"

Valery blinked and looked at her husband for a moment, before she grinned wide. A festival huh? Out here, far away from the troubles of the Galaxy, the kids could just run around and have fun, while they wouldn't have to worry about protection constantly. Of course, they'd be watching their kids, but the Epicanthix were a strong people, and they'd all be there to make sure children were safe.

"I can definitely poke a few people and get something going. Maybe to celebrate the move here and just have a good time. Music, food, games and dancing." She smiled and looked over at Vera, who was already bouncing in her seat at the idea.

Then she looked at Aris, "What do you think, sweetie? Does that sound fun?"
