Ask: Factory Talk Thread

So, in lieu of me being bored OOC, and needing a new project, I'm working on a Space Station to defend Bothuwai. Currently, I'm looking at a 600 meter long station. My question is, as far as hanger space is concerned, can I hold starfighters/interceptors/bombers rather than the gunships/dropships listed in the Assault category?

Is there a board precedent for a dev thread for Jensaarai armor? I'm setting things in motion to construct it for Veino, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it, given the complexity of the armor, lack of concrete canon information, and a general lack of other Jensaarai characters that are active.

If there isn't a precedent, is there an armor similar to it that I could look at for an example?

[member="Veino Garn "]If it's a cannon item you don't need a submission for one, but often times one is made anyways to clear up lack of cannon information or to get it into our rating system. Usually an obtainment thread is enough but if you're constructing your own a thread going into one aspect or complex part of it is usually enough.

I'm interesting in putting together a company as the background for some NSA style espionage stories, as well as the make some security products.

However, I have no real interest in putting together a character to run the company.

Should I still put together a submission to describe them?

Another question. Would the cortosis mining/excavation/steal thread have the same requirements as a dev read? At least ten posts with at least one writer? Or does it need more than one writer? Right now, the thread I have for it only has me writing in it. I just would like to know if I should go find someone else before I continue.

Been a long time since I have asked a question on here.

So, since there is a small amount of information about a Vibroblade being used for the Clone assassins in the form of a gauntlet to be ejected and used as a housed weapon, will I need to do a Sub for it in the factory to make modifications to an armor that I am thinking about buying?

[member="Raziel"] One wouldn't hurt, especially if you're going to derive some benefit from it and all tech/ship subs require a cannon or approved company. You can have a NPC running it but that leaves it open to being bought out or taken over. Which might not ever happen.

[member="Veino Garn "]The required thread should be treated like a dev thread for that material, all rules apply. However dev threads can now be done solo but an emphasis should be on quality as you're no longer cooperating with another writer.

[member="CC-4277"] The device no, it's pretty standard if it's the one from the Republic Commando game. But depending on the armor and how modified you're making it, it should be re-subbed as a modified, personal, version.

Just my two cents, but would it make sense to add a classification section to the species template? I.E Mammal, aquatic, botanic, or avian species. Ect. Just a suggestion/thought, feel free to ignore it if it isin't worth doing. :p

Thanks to Valik answering my question and reading the wookiee article Ashin. What exactly goes into a force disperser? How would one go about building one for personal use? The Article says it is a device but makes no mention of sith magics or using things like taozin nodules.

I know a dev thread or two at the least would be required to make it but the technical aspects of it are what I want to get right.

Well I have been fiddling around with this idea since Mayferria has ionite. Since making grenades and big things would be as Ashin said somethign to stay away from for balance. Would ionite strips on tape you could put in a doorway and set for traps work?

On the Force disperser, canon's vague. What's certain is that it's alchemy, and not biological. So far every functional example we've made or allowed has had a dev thread, yeah. It generally projects a field, room-sized or so, in which Dark Side Force presences don't show up. Good bet it works best on the signature of the one who made it.

Ionite, yeah, just dev thread well, keep production level low, and don't make things that obliterate stuff.

Hey I made some sithspawn awhile ago by the name of Ethereal Slaves. They were basically an elite guard to the Imperial Throne... before it got smashed to pieces, and then subsequently razed by raining asteroids during the sacking of Dromund Kaas. Should I then consider them dead? And if they are dead, should they then be requested to be unaccepted? This is a question that has been nagging me for months/weeks.

I have a question regarding a ruling made by [member="Valik"] as FJ on the MKII Processing Machine. I am not dissenting from the judgement on it, since it got approved and stuff under terms that are fully reasonable, just want something clarified.

It was said that a dev thread would be required for every PC that undergoes the process. I might make another HRD as a totally new char to serve as a minion for Moira. Said HRD would be based on the MKII process. So my question is, would this new char have to start out organic and then get processed? Or does this rule just mean that every established PC who is supposed to be turned into an HRD this way must have a dev thread? Thank you in advance.

If the character is an Archangel HRD from the start I have no issue with it starting out having gone through the MK II process. I apologize for not being clear on that.
