Back in Control (Mandalorian Dominion of Aeten II)

In the Darkness there is Truth
(5/20)

The darksider was knocked on his butt when the shockwave impacted upon him like an invisible hammer, presumably breaking some bones judging by the loud crunch she heard. Getting up with a groan and quickly grabbing her bolt pistol, Sumiko fired a couple APEB rounds at him, hoping they would shred him. Unfortunately for her he was quick on his feet and responded.

Those bullets that were not dodged were for the most part reflected. Ah, well, nothing could ever be simple these days. A grenade was tossed her way and on instinct she pushed back with the Force, realising too late that it had been set to detonate on impact. She was a good deal away from the blast radius, but winced in pain and bit down on her tongue when some shards of shrapnel showered her, in places penetrating her armour and slicing through her skin.

Inexpert Dark Repair kept the pain down to a degree, but her opponent charged her. He had been affected as well by the blast, but the pain seemed to give him fuel. Blades were crossed as they fought across the corridor. She managed to slice into his shoulder but he, being stronger and more physically well-built, was driving her back.

She seemed to be gaining ground as she went on the offence, but then a blast of Force lightning hit her in the chest and brought her down, making her reel in pain. Holding his blade high he moved to bring it crashing down upon her, but with a good kick she seemed swept his legs out from under him and, pulling out a hidden shatter gun, shot him dead.

The Sector Ranged sighed and moved to holster his weapon. "I am part of the Rebel Alliance," he said, "If you can give me all of that stolen stygium ore, I will let you off the hook and even redirect you to one of my associates within the Alliance. I will give you my word if you give me yours."

The entire crew was taken aback. A sense of renewed hope flooded their veins, glints of liberty and freedom shone in their eyes, and small, hopeful smiles curled their lips upwards. "Are you serious?" The Captain gaped, "Are you really one of them?"

"I wouldn't say I'm an official member or whatever, but I have some good friends in there that I met when I was back in Special Forces for the Galactic Republic." Marcus gave the crew another look over. "But if you can promise the return of anything stolen from Aeten II, I can promise your guaranteed entrance into the alliance."

"We accept."

It didn't even take him a full second to consider the weight of his decision.

Well, that had been quite dramatic! With a deep groan Sumiko got to her feet. Pain surged through her, though she could call upon her power to still it a bit. Alas, enemies were not far as some battle droids, having heard the commotion, appeared on the spot. Fortunately this time she was ready.

No time for refined mechu-deru, so she simply unleashed her power of technomagical handwavium by wielding it the way a butcher would, causing electrical discharges and brutally blowing up circuits. Explosions were heard as machines were broken and she quickly tore open the hatch to the ventilation shaft, climbing inside and sneaking away from the mayhem. Deep inside the shaft she quickly began crawling, trying to keep her senses alert. From what she was picking up through her senses, the fighting was still continuing, though the Mandalorian advance was steady and determined.

Graad and Briika we're finally fighting again. The rugged Concordian was tired, their infant son kept him awake, but Manda'lor called. The world was needed in order to regain territory lost after the loss of Wayland. Graad still harbored bitterness toward the Primevil for that. He took that anger with him as he went into this dominion. Lives would be lost today as the Mandalorians took the world once more. The stygium mines were important to the Mandalorians, and with the influence lost, there would be free rain on the mines. They had to protect their interests in the world.

He stayed close to his riddur as they worked with the Hound of Keldabe [member="Strider Garon"]. The man followed with his blaster rifle forward and shot anyone in their way. The demolitions team blew the path ahead, and the rest took the facility. One room at a time, one death at a time, one conquest at a time.

The order to push through had been barked out. The pace was so fast, Graad stuck his head down and followed through. He'd have more time with his wife later, and perhaps they would get some time to themselves before returning to their small son. It would be all to soon his son would be at his side, and much sooner that [member="Mesh'la Hokan"] would be next to [member="Briika Hokan"]. This is what Mandalorians loved for.

For a long time Sumiko snuck through the ventilation shaft, taking care not to make too much noise. She had used the brief lull in pursuers to take care of her wounds as much as she could, even pulling out a shard of shrapnel with telekinesis. Which hurt as much as can be imagined.

She kept on sneaking until she finally came across a corridor that, if her estimates were correct, should lead her to the storage room. Deciding disrection was the better part of valour, she waited as a patrol passed, biding her time. Then, as one soldier passed right beneath her, she dropped down with her legs, seizing his throat between them.

The soldier struggled and thrashed, even trying to grip his blaster pistol and shoot at her, but she persevered and in a swift, brutal motion, snapped his neck as she dropped down. Her shoto was swiftly in her hand when another soldier came racing down the corridor and, with the Force as her ally, she sent the weapon flying through the impact to impact upon his forehead and send him on a trip to the underworld, then returned into her hand like a boomerang.

The leap frogging movement made sure there was time to reload, and gave overheating armour a chance to be cooled by internal regulators before burns got too serious.

"Feth they really don't want us to take this back."

"Course not, they took a look at the beautiful mando ladies on the planet and they can't stand to leave. Don't take your helmet off La, we'll never get rid of them, they might follow us home."

"Berika, are you sure he hasn't take a slug to the brain?"

"All natural."

This caused a chorus of snickers. Puchlines were that much funnier when they were delivered by the taciturn Lorrdian. And then it as their turn to cycle forward again, game faces on and weaponry roaring.

To their enemies is must have been a truly demoralizing sight as they appeared to move silently and without commands, all sound hidden within their armour and kept to Mando channels.

the blasterfire was intense as the troopers just like those before did stand their ground to their last breath. Mantic could definitely see why these troopers were so popular among the myriad of sith war lords across the galaxy. the storm trooper stood for the very soul of a sith empire and through them control and fear was utilized at all times.
while his soldiers fought the officer desperately tried to load the crate inot the ship he had standing on the landing pad.
Granted that these troopers seemed ot belong to a fraction of some long gone army they still kept loyal to ther cause. Whatever that was the officer used it to its limits.

But this was to late for an escape.
Once the last trooper fell from Mantics lightsaber strike he shouted at the officer.

"Hey! Drop that and surrender! You dont fool me sith. Yild and justice will be brought to you." He demanded.

the officer turned, fear crippling his face and stance. With a mad mans roar he drew his sword form his back and charged. the movement was easy for mantic to foresee and he simply sidestepped and let his saber going down on the vibrosword. It hit solid ground and the officer dropped it.
Standing within inches from Mantic he stared at his two empty hands, then the dead troopers spread around the shuttle. He fell to his knees. surrender was inevitable.

"Yes," Mantic said. "A sign of intellect. Now, we got some people to meet, because you are not going to end up in a local jail my friend." he spoke and pulled the man to his feet. Even though it was weak the dark side was in him. And Mantic sensed soemthing from those crates as well. He would take them with him.

"Lets go." he ocntinued and gave him a gentle push toward the shuttle. "We are going to Ossus and all wil feel much better. You'll see." Mantic was not sure about it but there was always hope. After having loaded the crate the men entered the shuttle and Mantic sat down in the passenger seat.

with a smile he turned to his prisoner.

"By the way, i hope you can fly this thing..."

They kept moving up, using the cover but also each other as one would activate a forearm shield to catch blaster bolts and deflect them while another was firing. Then Shane came out and moved a little faster up letting a sonic shot at high levels smash into a leg join knocking it over. Her was kicking the droid seeing and hearing the sounds of others fighting ahead while he motioned and threw down a hallway caltrops from their weapons makers. The traps adhering to the surfaces before a group of droids came and they were sticking to them as he detonated them. "Toss rollers." The small little ball droid explosives moving and going down the hall to seek out targets.

The small probes ducked around corners and came up behind an enemy position, glaring them down. While not particularly strong or durable the droids were capable of causing a ruckus, and killing quite a few people given the Destroyers mixed in with the Hunters there. The change of fire, shifting in our favor now, was sudden, preceeded by several small explosions sending enemy troops running from cover. “Push forward. Gorran to the balcony.”

The big beskar armored wookiee roared and leaped upwards, his jump pack igniting mid air, followed by his remaining soldiers. One got dropped on the way up, not much you can to with a blaster bolt to the visor, but the six of them made it up there nonetheless, coming to grips with their enemies. If there was anything to say about Mandalorians, it was that we were brutal in close quarters.

The other groups ran forward, taking the hallways and stairs, using their rifles to drop opponents on the way in, and then their thick, heavy beskads to hack them apart once we closed with them.

Taak’Shukur thundered as I smashed it into the chest of an enemy, dropping him flat and sending blood gurgling out of his mouth. I took a shot to the shoulder, stinging and numbing the arm. It was still useable, just it hurt and it killed my reaction time with it. “Gut em. Betna has the tank down, lets take these lads and meet up.”

The thrashing of the giant spider was a strange sensation, it was like her body was there but it wasn't.. She had all these new sensations and the looks from some of the mandalroains as they had seen her she could feel. The helmets not hiding the surprise as the others sisters were picking up her staff before moving forward into the fight. Energy bows ripping down the hallways and she was rushing forward along the walls as her feet adhered to the surface. Backside a thick bulb that she swished around smashing one into the wall. "AHHH" her voice rippled out guttural and feral from her mind but it was a screech from her body before another was smashed into the wall.

Behind her lay several corpses and some wrecked droids. Souldrinker had made itself useful hewing them down or cleaving them in half as she made her way to the control centre of the facility. The unlucky individual she was currently holding in an iron grip was an officer of the facility.

"Where do you keep the stygium?" she asked coldly, impassively as she tightened her grip around his throat.
"There is no stygium here. The supplies have been depleted for...aargh." Through her mind she began doing unpleasant things to his lungs, causing painful spasms, though not enough to kill him.
"Where is it? Tell me what I want to know, and I'll let you go."
"Never! I'll never betray the Great Ones! My life for..."
"Such a pity. I shall have to do it the hard way then," and so she dove into his mind. He seemed to have been conditioned to a degree and so he resisted at first, but bit by bit she cut through the layers of defences, much in the same way as one would cut a salami slice by slice. Alas, Sumiko lacked the gentle touch and she had to cruelly cut through his mind before she finally found the information. "Thank you," she said, then tossed him to the ground and stabbed him.

The current stretch of hallways was littered with death and destruction. The prime squatters had once again retreated back through another hatch and locked it. They were trying to grind us down or hold us up as much as possible while the main force was concentrating the main body of the Mandalorian might. Smoke was being cleared from the hallway through the ventilation and naked eye visibility was improving. The Commandos would walk over the dead, place a two more rounds into each body to make sure for there was nothing worse then a die hard ruining your day with rear end deucbaggery.

Strider took the moment of pause to catch his breath. He was old and not as spry as the younger warriors around him though nobody questioned his mettle or ability to carry on. His HUD was picking up the Facilities blue prints and what was beyond these doors worried the field marshal. it wasn't another hallway but a open square balcony that plunged 20 floors below into the Aeten's lava. That wasn't the worry, there was plenty of sniper positions that could plague and pinned down the Mandalorian's advance as there were two more floors above them in this hollowed out tower.

"Talak your turn!' Strider ordered the commando to breach the next door with more det tape. "Alright lads this nest hurl is gonna be rough, we have possible sniper positions or heavy weapon nests that will have the advantage. I will act as the bunny and draw their fire to expose their positions. THe rest of you better slot em fast or this old man gonna be retired"

Strider would look to the blast doors as Talak placed the tape. He gave the count down and like before the doors dissipated in the explosion. Strider thumbed his personal shield deflector and thrusted out into hte open. There was heavy fire coming from one story up and across the open. From the rate of fire and how fast the shield was depleting, the old man marked the position as E-web nest.

Strider would slide across the floor and find hard cover just before his shield completely fried up.

"E-web pinged, SMASH IT!!!"

Strider lifted his weapon up but was forced down as he recieved small arms fire from a mixture of combat droids and prime mercs trying to kill the old man once and for all.

There were more people coming and he could see it on his tracker while moving forward before feeling the problem of being on a ship at the chair all the time.... He was out of shape compared to the soldiers and starting to feel it now before he stopped getting itno cover. The breathign a little more ragged but dammit he was getting old as he came out of cover and was firing with his ripper into the droids. Attention on their major systems with some movement towards the anomoly on his scanners that was leading he hoped to enough stygium for his ships upgrade.

Finally she had reached her destination! It had taken a while and resulted in her getting beat up a lot and getting several scars, but here she was. Unsurprisingly the storage room was sealed, but some quick hacking took care of that. The same applied to the ray field that prevented immediate access to the sealed containers containing stygium crystals. Here once again mechu-deru came in handy.

Unsurprisingly, there were not that many crystals to be found here. After all, presumably Aeten had been mined again and again first under the Galactic Empire, then under the Mandalorians, though this was not the only facility on the world. Fortunately Sumiko did not intend to cloak a Super Star Destroyer or something similarly extravagant. No, her purposes were far more modest. So she quickly began loading some crystals into a repulsorcrate. She could hear the sounds of battle coming ever closer, so she made haste to get things done.

She was still moving down the hallways and making a scene now, the vents of this facility were hers for the claiming while more explosions were ripping through the area from disruptor blasts before she lept out and behind a group of droids tearinginto them. Her nightsisters were follwing as the spider clan gripped the wall with their hand and feet firing boltcasters almost deigned like their energy bows but for one hand. They wanted to make it a nice sight until the mando's were coming through the halls after them and she grabbed a droid that was still active with its torso trying to grab oneof the mando's.

Betna lay on the ground for a few minutes longer, letting his lungs recover from the two concussive blasts. It was a bit hard to breathe and he was certain that they'd hurt for a good few weeks and that he'd be getting a solid scolding from his wife. He had to admit, though, it worked well enough.

He pulled himself behind a pile of rubble to recover a bit more safely as his men went to work. With the tank destroyed, the enemy troops were demoralized and in shock, making it easy for the Mandalorians to push them back and route them. As the last of the defenders fell or ran, his men got to work treating their wounded and securing the area. It was a costly victory, but a necessary one.

Pulling himself up to sit on the rubble, he took a look around. The dead lay here and there bleeding or smoking depending on their method of passing. There was an odd quality of death, truth be told. Each may live differently, but death made all men equals. Kings and Mand'alors, Sith and Jedi, cowards and warriors. Death was the great equalizer. Things were funny like that.

Shaking himself out of his quiet reverie, he opened comms once more.

"We've got the courtyard secure," he said after a moment. "Doesn't look like they wanna play anymore. How are things on your end?"

While Sumiko loaded up her stolen - pardon, requisitioned - loot, Mandalorian troops were assuming direct control over the facility. The sounds of blasterfire, the roar of shotguns and explosions echoed across the hall. Those that resisted were being put to the sword and shown the error in their ways. Heads would roll at the swing of a beskad, lives extinguished in a hail of blasterfire.

Having finished raiding the storageroom and loaded up all the crystals she could reasonably transport without reducing her mobility too much, Sumiko quickly left the storage room. She did not even bother wrap herself in a cloak of shadows, simply pushed on towards an exit. Fortunately digging through the memories of the unfortunate officer earlier had shown her an alternate way out. Here and there she encountered resistance, but they were cut down quickly enough with her blade and so very soon the wind once again kissed her skin as she made her way out. With her loot in tow she sought to make her way across the battlefield towards her ship, passing countless corpses. Renegades, Sith, Mandalorians...in the end they were all the same in death.

A glance at Beraga, who nodded, shouldering his sniper rifle and moving up to stand directly behind La, Harampr on one side and Sasctyr on the other acting as a protective square. Snipers were usually from above. The whole squad would go through firing of course, but Beraga had his orders.

One of the best tools to use against a sniper was another sniper, and Beraga was very good. Nothing on the current level would be his target, regardless of what or how many. Instead, using La to steady his shot as well as as a shield, he would be concentrating on the upper levels.

La was not crazy about the Hound playing the Rabbit, she'd been unofficial Squad leader too long for that. But he far out ranked her and had years more experience, in the field his call was law. The moment he was through the door, his Ori'ramikade followed up with several grenades, and then Buruk Squad was through. The coordinates already tagged by Strider, Beraga sent shot after accurate shot at the E-Web nest, protected by his vod who had likewise gone to work with blaster and flamethrower, clearing out the current level.

...rolling onto his side and then further onto his chest Laith would take a moment to reorganize his thoughts before slowly pushing up onto his knees and beginning to move away from his previous location. Ringing still filled the background despite the noise dampeners which activated as the grenade exploded indicating that more than just a bit of concussion force penetrated his defenses. Laith was lucky, his beskar'gam and near human physiology would protect him from major injury however he still had a bit of bruising underneath his armor centered around his chest which manifest itself as a dull burning sensation whenever he took a breath..."Feth."...escaped his mouth as he looked back over his shoulder ensuring no hostiles were following him...

...actually the battlefield seemed strangely quiet but Laith wouldn't risk turning back to survey the carnage after his position had been identified. Moving low along the hillside through the tallgrass the Mercenary eventually stood at his full height and moved into the open as he descended the hill on the opposite side of the fighting. As he came down the hill he heard shouting and looking ahead he saw several soldiers dressed in their Aliit'gam approaching him causing Laith to address them and identify himself...
"Laith Varad. Clan Varad. Got a status update Vode."...they told him everything he needed to know and even supplied him with a Blaster Rifle seeing as how he'd lost his own weapon hence....

...
"Oya!"...he'd have shared a small but significant celebratory cheer with the other Mandalorians when it became clear that the tide of battle was turning and that the forces of the Mandalorian Clans were carving a path through the enemy. Almost as though on cue blaster fire would have erupted nearby causing Laith to take a knee alongside the others, Sith Troopers were closing on their location but using his friend/foe designator as he scanned the vicinity Laith would note that..."They're scattered. I think they're making a last charge to try and break our lines without whatever opposition they can muster. On my Vode!"...then he had climbed onto his feet and turned to face his enemies. The Mandalorian Warriors did likewise. The Blaster Rifle Laith had been given raised, its butt found the crevice of his shoulder as he aimed down the barrel and squeezing the trigger he started to lay down a barrage of firepower with his brethren while wading into a final fight....
