Curiosity Killed the Raven (Red Raven Dominion of Nal Hutta)

Location: Johari's penthouse
Objective: Get his relatives killed
Mentions: [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"]

Johari's frown deepened with every passing minute taht he did not get a reply. Had they already sided with the other Hutts? That was his primary worry... He had not bothered to encrypt the message, or code it's tracing, so it would not be har for them to track it back to his apartment. Would they be coming now to kill them, if they had indeedsided with the others? No, he doubted they had... Not after what they did on Nar Shadaa. Likely they just hadn't replied, for whatever reason... Perhaps they were first working on elminating the Winter Palace. That was more likely. Perhaps they were killing his relatives even now... The ones who had stunted him, kept him from growing into an empire. Kept him closed in. The thought brough t asmile to his lipless mouth. Yes, he could practically hear them begging for their lives...

Objective:Explore Drestope Rosuu's Cabinet of Curiosities

Allies:[member="Keira Ticon"]

The beauty of being of being a hired gun was that-unless you were an idiot and went wild, you were generally unnoticed by the people around you. You were just a different kind of soldier after all, just point and shoot.

It did however also mean that one tended to be sent to ether more sacrifual missions or bodyguard type scenarios. Tora was... unsure which this was. She was sent with Jedi... was that the right term? Probably better than calling them glow stick warriors anyway. But in this case they were among the allies she was to assist.

So she really saw it as the usual

Point and shoot, prevent the contracted from dying (though she doubted they needed it) and retrieve the thing... simple.

But then their was the part that leaned her towards 'sacrificial'

Oh well, if she died he didn't deserve her pay right?

Location: Johari's penthouse
Objective: Find out who Johari is

"We're here Ma'am, did you want us to breach and bring anyone we find up?"

The Twi'lek considered it briefly. Sometimes it was fun to just steamroll through things, taking off the Diplomat hat. Having [member="Johari the Hutt"] hauled aboard would be in keeping with bombing the Winter Palace without a word of warning but.. Perhaps the message had been sent in good faith. Perhaps this Johari could be useful.

"No, I'll go down."

At this point they knew better than to argue. She'd bring her R.I.C.O units. Her bodygaurd [member="Foebacca"] might come along if he pleased. Beyond that, she didn't go in for large entourages. Couldn't have people thinking she was scared.

"Yes Ma'am."

That sorted, she moved to the dropship, flanked by her chosen few. It wasn't long before she was at the entrance to Joharis Penthouse. She toggled the comm unit at the door.

Johari turned suddenly to the identical comm unit mounted on the wall next to his door as it let out a long buzz, signaling that someone was requesting enterance to his apartment. Was that the Ravens? He doubted they' be going through the door if they wished him any harm... Did his actions work to get him in their good favors after all? He certainly hoped so.

A moment after the Twi'lek toggled the comm device, a voice much to deep to be a human's answered. "This is Johari. Who'm is this?"

"Chiasa Kritivaas."

The Twi'leks tone was amused. How many visitors was he expecting? He may or may not have recognized her name, depending on how much homework he'd done. She had never been in the news as far as she knew, unlike Cryax and some of the others, but she also didn't bother to try and hide her presence. There would likely be something about her in the holonet if a person looked hard enough.

"You sent me a rather interesting message earlier.."

The Hutt raised his large heavy-lidded eyes at the name. He had heard it before... Where had he heard it before? It dawned on him when he hear her second sentence. Ah! One of the leaders of the Ravens! So they had recieved his message after all... and apperantly came in peace! Things were all falling into place. With an elated tone in his voice, the large Hutt replied.

"Ah, yes! The droid will let you up."

With a buzzing sound the door opened, allowing [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] to speak with a droid receptionist who quickly showed her and her minions to the elevator leading to Johari's Penthouse.

Though it wouldn't be perceptible to the casual watcher, the Twi'lek stiffened ever so slightly as the door opened. It was probably just a droid coming to let her up, as [member="Johari the Hutt"] had indicated, but you never knew. Sometimes people were idiots. The R.I.C.O. units were ready however, one standing on either side of her, as they usually did. That was one of the bonsues of droids over organics. On top of not intruding into her personal space and privacy, their attention never wavered. When a regular inoffensive secretary model droid was revealed however, Chiasa relaxed slightly. Johari was at the very least not a complete fool then.

Following the droid, she entered the elevator and in short order was ushered into the presence of the Hutt. While not her favourite species, Chiasa believed in business first. Even if this one was particularly unattractive, the Twi'leks face showed nothing but a polite smile. Fur seemed like it ought to have been an improvement.. Fur and slime however...

"Johari I presume?"

The Hutt's wide lipless mouth twitched into a sort of smile as the Twi'elk appeared- though his eyes wavered to her armed escort for a moment. he wishes the Ravens no harm- but he wasn't yet sure if they felt the same way about him. He was alone here- he would be easily overpowered by a few battle droids... However, he hoped it would not come to that. "You are correct." Johari raised a hand in greeting, a few droplets of slime dripping off the short green fur on his arm.

The Twi'lek inclined her head slightly acknowledging the wave. It looked as if there wasn't anyone else here, she'd not even seen any other droids beyond the one that had let her in. Interesting, Hutts usually went in for having big entourages. These was a very atypical specimen.. Unless he was in a position that he couldn't have one. Disgrace perhaps? It would explain why he'd provided them the coordinates for the strike. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. If this was so perhaps he could continue to be useful. The hungry often where.

Now what? Dance or direct? Perhaps a mixture.

"I am interested in your thought process. I can understand seizing the opportunity to wipe out rivals, which I assume if what you did. I wonder if you'd considered that the ruthlessness needed to take that sort of chance is the same ruthlessness that sets you up as a potential future problem for us."

Or an asset. It depended upon his next few words.

The Hutt looked slightly surpised. He hadn't thought of that... If Johari had betrayed his own family, what was to stop him form betraying the Ravens? Luckily, he had an answer to that; "The Desalijic clan were never my allies. Therefore," He shrugged slightly. "I had no problem with their deaths being on my conscience. The Ravens, however, will be. I would hope so anyway." The Hutt made it clear with his tone of voice that this was not a threat, rather a proposition. He was not here to threaten the Ravens. They were an oppurtunity. He wasn't one to destroy oppurtunities.

Oh for Edge’s sake. This was a first. As Cryax rubbed the lump on his head, he felt safe to say he had never before been captured by someone’s sheer girth. The Chiss scrambled to his feet and using his natural low light vision, helped Keira stand, and pulled her out of the way of the hungry creatures.

From what he remembered, Daxton Bane had let some of these creatures attach them to himself like armor as their shells couldn’t be penetrated by blaster fire. He had always found it revolting. Why not just get some phrik armor?

From what he knew about the creatures, they were lightsaber resistant, so trying killing them was going to be a joke. How did he know so much about these creatures. Well, the brainy Chiss was like a walking encyclopedia most of the time. Cryax began to search the basement starting with the other cages. Maybe there was something else down here they could use against that shape-shifting freak.

and [member="Cryax Bane"] in the Cabinet of Curiosities

When Cryax searched the basement he would see various creatures and insects. In the first cage, a bat-like creature sat miserably on a makeshift branch. In the second cage there was a giant tick-like bug and in the third cage were a pair of human sized slugs. The final two cages in the basement were empty.

Drestope Rosuu still stood in the doorway to the stairs and he wouldn't admit this to the Ravens but he was literally stuck. Sometimes he shape-shifting was difficult to control especially as a larger species. But they didn't need to know this.

"Go ahead!" Drestope shouted from above. "Open the cages Mr. Bane! Or should I?" He threatened to press all of the buttons which would open the cages. There were eleven Orbalisks still in the vicinity. Two of the orbalisks had made their way to Khaleel Malvern and were crawling up his leg. The nine other orbalisks followed Cryax Bane and Keira Ticon further into the basement.

"There is one way to escape those beasts," said Drestope. With his stubby hutt hand he pressed the button and opened the last two cage doors. "Get inside and I'll close the doors behind you." If they as he instructed they would indeed be free of the crawling, hungry parasites but they would be locked up in his cages.

This did not allay all of her concerns of course. Words were easy and it wasn't as if he would say 'Oh you're right, I'm definitely going to betray you in the future', but at least it established his current intentions and she liked the addition of the last sentence. The Twi'lek could on occasion get prickly about what she interpreted as slights, and these often included people assuming that she was going to do what they wanted at any particular point in time.

"I think an alliance could be arranged."

She purred. It was quite possible such a vain and proud creature should not ave been given so much power, but she had been and there you were.

"Certainly there will be a power vacuum here, and I've not the time or inclination to stay on this planet all the time. And it might be easier to hand over day to day management to someone more familiar with it..."

She left that comment there, dangling before him.

It was safe to say that this was the first time Keira had ever encountered any sort of shape-shifting species, and already things were off to the worst of starts. Sure, when first encountered he'd come across as an odd character, but in her line of work that wasn't anything terribly unusual. Even having others attempt to kill her and the other Ravens was the typical day-to-day. The methods used were what differed, and this was the only occasion in which their attempted captor used what could be called biological warfare instead of the preferred blasters and other firearms. And orbalisks were creatures none of them had encountered beforehand.

"Everyone, try and stay behind me." She glanced to Khaleel. "If you have a lightsaber and any idea how to use it, that'd be great. Any extra Force abilities would be appreciated as well. We can use all the help we can get, at this point." Not waiting for a reply she sent a wave of the Force out towards the orbalisks, not caring much about killing them in that very moment. Their main focus would be doing away with the Shi'ido, not his pets. With a flick of her wrist she sent her lightsaber arcing through the air towards the vicinity of his face, pulling the weapon back towards her with the energy field hopefully before he could snatch it up himself.

One way or another they would be getting out of this musty crawl space of a basement, whether blood had to be spilled in order to achieve that goal or not. And if anything went her way, it wouldn't be hers. While not a betting woman, if she was she would say that he wasn't prepared to counter Force sensitives. Most weren't, and that was what she was counting on. Just a distraction was what they needed, and slipping out would be the easy part. "Are you really this desperate for friends? I'd recommend trying not to kill them. That might get you off to a better first start. The orbalisks aren't helping anything either, but they are a nice touch."

Why was it always people like this the Ravens managed to find, out of all the sentients in the galaxy?

The orbalisks scattered like rumble pins when the wave of Force energy hit them. But once they regained their footing they skittered towards Keira Ticon. They fed off of the energy of darksiders and if they attached to her, she would become their host and the Jedi would become filled with adrenalin and other enzymes. This would make Ticon stronger but also cause her considerable pain.

In the meantime, the light-saber flew at Drestope and hit his face but only singed a little bit because of his rough hide. He yelped out a deep growl and then licked his lips with his slithery corpse-grey tongue. The weapon went straight back to Keira like a boomerang.

"Oh so you want to play now?" Drestope asked, rumbling in laughter, his great Hutt belly moving up and down. With his thumb he pressed one of the buttons on the electronic device and the second cage opened. The giant tick came lumbering out and headed toward the Ravens. It squished a couple of orbalisks in its frenzy to approach.

"That pretty little thing is a Sargonian behemoth tick. Don't worry. It just wants to give you a hug."

The Hutt's wide mouth twisted into a sudden smile. This was for more then he had even hoped for... He would be given control, or at least a portion of it, over the entire planet? Nal Hutta... It would be extremely useful to posses Nal Hutta. No one Hutt had owned the planet in the history of the Galaxy... Of course, he woudn't be owning it, he would be little more then a manager, but that didn't stop Johari from having illusions of grandeur.

"You are correct, there will be a power vacum... Though not as much as Nar Shadaa there are your fair share of gangsters and criminals here. With the Desjalic clan gone... They'll all want the power. You are correct to say, as well, that someone not fromt his planet would have trouble managing it."

He didn't say anything directly, rather he onyl confrimed what the Twi'lek had said. Hopefully this would lead where he wanted it to...

He'd certainly picked up on that quickly enough. It was likely not wise to just hand off power to a being one hardly knew, but quite frankly at the speed the Ravens were expanding she certainly didn't have time to oversee everything herself and while membership was growing by the day, very few had any.. Managerial skills. Besides, all [member="Johari the Hutt"] really had to do was make sure the credits kept rolling in. Beyond that what did she care?

"You have proven useful..."

She commented as though considering the idea. This Hutt did not particularly concern her. His reactions were too readable. His actions bold but obvious. Given the power, perhaps he could hold Nal Hutta and if not, and he got himself killed, well so be it. She'd replace him. All she really needed was to have one Raven who truly understood that no matter what Johari bribed them with, she would better it, and she could consider herself safe from him. In her arrogance she did not believe he had the potential to sneak any meaningful coup past her.

"I could give you the men you'd need to cement your hold with the Desjalic out of the picture.."

Objective: I mean have a chat.

Johari's smile broadened. Fantastic. He had no plans to betray the Ravens as [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] feared; that would be giving away power. Besides, if he tried to take more power then he was given, he had no doubt that the Red Ravens could far outman him. Betraying them, or atl east betraying them any time in the forseeable future, would be foolish. However, he wouldn't need to. This had gone much better then he had thought it would. He thought perhaps he'd be given some kind of place in the Ravens, maybe overseeing a smuggling ring or something. But he was basically being made manager of one of the most important planets, if not the most important, in Hutt Space... This was fantastic. And with the Red Ravens with him, and the Desajalic clan gone, there woudl be nothing to take this away from him.

"That would be most appreciated..."

So it was decided, as long as the Ravens got their cut, when they took Nal Hutta, [member="Johari the Hutt"] was the one would could continue to be the public face.

And then the uproar and turmoil that had rocked the Ravens reared it's ugly head and Nal Hutta was put on the backburner, though the foundations had been lain and it was far from forgotten.

-------------------------------------
Present day. There was no dramatic booming out of hyperspace this go round, it was hardly necessary. After all, the Ravens spent a good half their time on Nar Shaddaa, within almost literal spitting distance of Nal Hutta. There were constant transports between the two, people didn't even have to take their own ships if they didn't want to. Chiasa did of course, she quite liked her little shuttle thank you very much.

The objectives were pretty easy.

Find any local gangs, wipe them out.

Find any local drug dealers, kill them if you had to or get them selling Raven product. A fun if ammoral way to do this was to get them hooked on Engspice, and then nothing else would do. They'd come crawling to the Ravens for more.

Scout out a good location, or find a suitable existing one, for the Ravens next Casino. Maybe they'd build on the glassed remains of the Winter Palace, that would send a message.

If anyone was feeling brave they could venture into the swamps and bring back a genetic sample of a Dragonsnake.

Those were the basics. Beyond that people were free to further the Raven agenda however they liked. Buy a whorehouse or three. Throw a party the likes of which Nal Hutta would never forget. Crash someone elses party. Spike the drinks.

[Objective: Take out Gangs]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA55Gwku30s
With a somber silence borne of the airless vacuum, Blood Raven slipped from hyper space into real space. It's crimson bow, painted to emulate the head of a raven, matching the rest of the ships montage to blood covered avians, was pointed at the heart of the homeworld of the massive space slugs that had at various points in galactic history ruled the Underworld in this and many other sectors. The ship was being piloted by a droid on loan from the Red Raven stock, Zander having yet to have the time to devote to finding a personal pilot, biological or cybernetic.

Zander was in what passed for the small ships hangar. Thus far it was empty save for himself. He was in his typical street garb of a nice suit with an overcoat over it that reached his knees. All dark colors except for his white dress shirt, opened at the color. Almost hidden, as crimson against black, on his lapel was set a pin in the shape of a Raven. To all appearances, Zander was ready to handle matters of some import, but not bloodshed. Any who assumed such would prove themselves to not know Zander, nor his purpose. Hidden in a holster beneath his suit jacket, tailored to hide such, was an Occluder Handcannon purchased legally by Zander.

As Blood Raven set down in what passed for a space port on Nal Hutta, sizable no doubt, but really, couldn't we find some disinfectant for all the Hutt slime trails, the hangar door opened and Zander exited. [member="chiasa kritivaas"] had given Zander permission to hunt here, particularly among the gangs that inhabited the slums of Nal Hutta. Needless violence from unaffiliated gangs couldn't be tolerated in Raven controlled space. A message would need to be sent, and Zander was the messenger.
