Escape from Purgatory •[Thread Planning/OOC Discussion]•

Alright, sorry I passed out last night. Seems like everyone had a lot of ideas bouncing around.

[member="Singularity"]

It sounds like it'd be a lot of fun to work with you on all the tech submission and technical aspects of a lot of the work on here. I look forward to it.

@Everyone

When you mentioned an "Event" we're all taking part in, all I could think of was the Hunger Games. Maybe the Antagonists company produces experimental combat stims or some other kind of combat enhancers, and, rather than experiment on soldiers out their in the war zones, he decides to test them on a prison population in an arena.

Another idea would be that we were all captured by the protagonist and wrongfully imprisoned on Purgatory. They tortured us over the course of one or two weeks, followed by them asking the same questions over and over, trying to determine guilt of some form of crime they believed our characters were guilty of. However, after that one or two weeks, they bound us, blindfolded us and threw us to the back on the planet. We would join together against the antagonist due to the injustice, whether we're individually good or bad people, of it all. (I got this idea from Cory Doctorow's book Little Brother)

The funny thing is that when I was writing my idea up I didn't even think about the Hunger Games. Now I can totally see it haha "event" :p

I like your idea about experimental combat stimulants/enhancers. It makes perfect sense for a group like this to use prisoners as test subjects for things that either they themselves made or their viewership (corporations, criminal organizations, etc.)make and pay them to use. It would add a whole new level of gambling and "participation" from these people by showcasing "samples" of their products and trying to one up eachother.

Oh, this all sounds exciting. I'd love to join.

I got captured by Mandalorians a little while ago, so I still need to break out of a prison. Perfect opportunity.

Maybe the prison ship is attacked by pirates, or other people that hate the prisoners. The ship goes down on an unknown planet and the prisoners try and kill us? Growing out ideas. The explosives would be deactivated wth the fall of the ship. And going with the arena thought, prisoners could grab weapons from the arena and, well, kill each other. Add in the thought of survival, food, water, animals that want to kill us. Maybe something like that. The storyline sounds really good right now.

If we have one person, good or bad, bring us all in after a ship crash or prison break, people could go missing. Then we'd have to figure out who is the bad guy and where the kidnapped are going. I feel like my ideas are a little cliche though...

Ok! Read everything. Now I'm embarrassed.

Anyways, I Would love to help you two, singularity and Silas, make things. I too love making technology and sci fi stuff. (Call me a nerd) I would be happy to help you guys make things. My character probably couldn't present them as his own creations. He isn't a tech guy.

I also think the enchament idea is really good. We definitely need to use that.

Shame on me for going to sleep so early last night because you guys had a field day (This is awesome). I do like the idea of crash landing on a planet, something really dangerous like the Shadowlands of Kashyyyk, definitely a harsh environment. Kind of a who's hunting whom type of situation always interests me. The military injection experiments is really a cool idea, adds that dehumanizing (or de-anything-izing) element where the characters all experience the withdrawal and effects of the drugs a different way such as hallucinations or other such things. This character has depression and anxiety so it'll really be interesting to see how he handles these new things in his system, it'll be hell for him to get through but he's been through worse (maybe worse).

Well, if we are a prisoner ship, perhaps the owners of the Purgatory, whoever we decide they'll be, might need a therapist to better maintain their emotional condition. That is a reality in the world we live in - I wouldn't be surprised if prisoners stationed aboard a ship-based prison, isolated and forced to combat each other, would be left mentally unstable; rather than be a part of the group taken prisoner for whatever reason, maybe you could be a part of the civilian staff on the ship that simply gets caught up in the prison break?
And then I'll help the prisoners break away because I feel that most prisoners' mental condition would be best taken care of outside of prison, or at least in a prison that would neither isolate nor force them to fight each other.

I was unaware that your character operated solely on Mandalore - then again, with that said, how would it be plausible at all for your character to get involved in this conflict? If what ideas have been shared don't work, that's fine, we'll think of something else to ensure everyone can be involved, but I'll need a definite understanding of where your character's coming from beyond what's shared in your character bio. I can't make suggestions if there's multiple obstacles, of which I'm unaware, getting in the way.
Mandalore is a place that attracts the more unsavory therapists of the galaxy: those who can't practice anymore on their original practice world(s) often look at Mandalore as an attempt to redeem themselves. What few reputable therapists there are on Mandalore, tend to have a truckload of patients with PTSD. Even then many Mandalore residents go off-world to get therapy.

That said, as of late, she feels that solely practicing therapy is strangling her as a person because she feels like her Force abilities are hanging up to dry. This is where [member="Jakkor Kess"] will come in: peer Force training can still work, even though it may not be optimal. Her brain (and lekku) may give her, as she calls it, "twice the power" and probably learn almost as if her brain was an hyperdrive.

That's the beauty, Love. You get to decide what makes you special. Well you're the beauty but that other thing isn't bad either.
Perhaps the owners of Purgatory thought that a Twi'lek female, regardless of color, would probably help keep human and Near-Human prisoners' spirits from plummeting or something like that. They know that Twi'lek ladies are, more often than not (along with Zeltron females) highly attractive to a wide palette of human and Near-Humans. But they can't possibly whisk me away from Mandalore with the promise of a steady supply of patients alone (see above).

For planets I'm thinking maybe Felucia or Mygeeto. Some remote part of either one would suit our purposes. It'd be a hard place for surviving. Felucia would be the better of the two. Monsters, deadly plants, Etc.

For the drug part the organization, we really need a name, could hand out drugs that alter your strength, agility and other combat factors. Tissue regeneration and resistance at the cost of an induced state of rage. Permanent effects include unlikely brain damage, scars, angering easier, and I can't think of anything else.

Also maybe technological enchaments. I've read in a book about a pseudo-muscle layer. Increase all natural abilities. Strength, speed, and other stuff. Cyborg stuff? You know, the standard power enchantments. I don't know much about those though. If we wanted the pseudo-muscle layer I could make that.

That would be awesome, and I would use my survival skills learned as a Tusken, and learned during the Clone Wars, and The great Jedi Purge, and would help the group survive. While I help you strengthen your connection to the force, and basically become a informal Master, and teaching you what I do know. Creating a Force Bond between us.While you try to help me cope with my PTSD which will most likely grow worse through the whole ordeal, and at one point I snap, and may try to kill everything in site.

Oh god. I have a feeling that the therepy ewok may not work, infact one horrible Clone wars flashback, and the ewok would be torn to pieces literally and me wondering Wtf just happend than I see the ewok pieces, and be like. Ohh yeah I did that didn't i . The point being why did they make furry teddy bears therapists huh I don't see them running around with a Phd.

Sorry for the late responses, everyone; I'll be on for a moment to review everything we've discussed and post the daily recap. I'll be doing these as we progress through idea bouncing, so we can take a step back, review decisions made or thoughts spoken, and decide what would be the best day to progress. After about a day of this thread exploding with fantastic ideas, maybe we should pick a few paths to proceed, so we don't accidentally overwhelm ourselves with a variety of alternative storylines. :p

First off, let me welcome all the new people who've joined us since we began; great to have you onboard and you all have gone nuts with the concept, which is fantastic.

Also, please make sure to follow this thread if you intend to be involved with the planning; everyone gets an equal opportunity to define this story, and, to be quite frank, it'll be important that you do. This will, hopefully, last us a good long while and requires a bit of initiative from all of us. I see a lot of you taking this idea and running with it, which is great, so keep up the good work.

I also want to make a note that I intentionally exclude personal decisions pertaining to character development and so forth, since the recap posts are simply for public review and scrutiny; your decisions revolving around character development are for you alone to decide and stamp with approval, so long as it does not conflict with the overall story. However, if you'd like this overall development to play a bigger role in the story, which you are all free to do - so long as you can manage the extra workloads - please tag me in the post.

RECAP:

Damn, you guys gave me a lot to read.

So, as initially discussed, we will be using a prison vessel named the Purgatory for the introductory setting of the RP. We'll all be there for different reasons, which can be determined by the individual writer; but ultimately the goal is the same - we're a part of an annual event (Singularity) where we'll be forced to combat each other in a Hunger Games-esque system, where we'll be injected with prototype stims/combat enhancers (Silas Miu) in order to test the product to the delight of nobles, criminal overlords, military leaders, and so forth during this underground, and highly illegal event, while also being viewed for entertainment. We'd be psychologically manipulated, tortured, and forced to fight one another - the variety of dynamics that come into play will require a lot of forethought; however, I definitely like where this is going. In that case, it would definitely be wise to create our own planet for this use, since this annual event would likely heavily be ingrained into the culture, depending on the time it's been implemented - which I imagine would be quite awhile to build up this notoriety in order to attract so many high-ranking figures - and it would also help to have the freedom to create what we'll need for the setting. I think a dangerous, shadowlands-esque planet (Nicair Claden) would be an excellent idea. Share your thoughts on this.

So, from there, we escape onto the planet's surface; either that or we'd escape once we're already on the ground - perhaps the ship we stole wouldn't have a hyperdrive? Though, we'd be hard-pressed to find one like that. As Jakkor Kess suggested, we might have explosive devices around our necks - but we'd need a way to work around them; perhaps they'd remove them once the game began? It might be further initiative to escape post-landing; again, I'd love to hear your input. Silas Miu, Singularity, and Jaster will work on the company together - I'll contact you guys later via PM to better discuss how to manage this. This'll probably be all we need to manage it; however, if anyone else would be interested in involving themselves with that project, please feel free to notify them or me. Another option was provided by Nicair where we would not necessarily escape, but try to survive the prison - this would definitely make for an interesting thread, where we'd have to band together to survive until we made it to the planet, where we could then break free and escape into the wilderness.

Where the company could come into play following this - especially if the antagonist truly does have all the resources we've built him up to have - could come through a variety of avenues. Perhaps, due to the discreet nature of the planet, they would not openly attempt to silence us, out of fear to drawing attention; perhaps the planet this takes place on is simply the dangerous moon of a larger planet with a more merchant/trade-oriented focus, giving the company-runners the ability to tap into the galactic market close to where the resistance RP will take place. Again, give me thoughts regarding this. In addition, we still need antagonists for this RP; it'll carry a variety of heavy responsibilities, so please keep this in mind - if you have a tight schedule or fickle muse, it may not be for you. However, if you still remain interested and confident in your ability, please send me a PM to notify me. Tomorrow, if we get enough nominations, we'll discuss this openly in the thread to decide what's best for the group. Regarding the antagonist, a great idea was shared by Aerin The Lost in PM, regarding that the antagonist would actually be posing as a prisoner to view the chaos up close - maybe to review the effects of the stims, to sabotage any rebellious motives; this would largely depend on the elected antagonist's opinions, and it would be complicated to do, but I found the idea a nice twist and I would love to hear what you guys have to say about that.

We'll need to determine the type of drug, if any, and details regarding it; feel free to toss ideas or, if you have any, concerns about utilizing this for the plot.

Another neat dynamic we could use is the withdrawal effects, again up to the opinion of each individual writer; this is about us as individuals, not as a whole - the more control we have over the story as people, not a group overall, the better. We want to remain passionate about that, and we can't manage that unless there's a little bit of individuality shared between us and the story; hence, why I encourage you all to contribute ideas and to go above and beyond.

RECAP OVER

There we have it - if I missed anything, please let me know; but, hopefully, we can narrow down what we want out of all these options today, in order to keep things moving. Keep up the good work, everyone!

We are going to need to coordinate this... a lot. I'm glad this thread is here.

In other words and letters and squiggly things, I have an idea. (When does that happen?, I hear you asking. Not very often, I answer.) The antagonist/company LETS us escape, furthering the games and providing a 'story' for the viewers. (Cough) Hunger Games. (Cough) Our band will try and survive ON the world we've escaped on/to. The boost from the drugs and other things eventually will wear off, leaving the team weak and vulnerable. We'd have to run with our weakest members, all while they might be trying to kill us from some drug side effect.

The company would send troops, vehicles, heck, even mercenaries at us to all 'further' the story as well as actually capture us. A reward would be set out for us throughout towns and cities too. The company does all this to advertise it's products and show their effectiveness.

Also, the planet would probably have to have a planet or system wide comm jammer or something to make sure we don't radio our factions for help. Because why wouldn't we?

I like [member="Jaster Starfallen"] idea of us being actively hunted down on the planet. I can just imagine our characters rushing through a forest or jungle environment while blaster fire and what not explodes around them, maybe tackle a trooper in their way, take him down nice a brutally, then continue running. Really excited for this to come to fruition. Definitely a Hunger Games type of match up, active survival and hunter-hunted fluctuation of power is sure to add a lot of tension into the overall story line.

Talk of all this combat and such makes me want to somehow implement my Besalisk Bodybuilder character. Sorry for lapse in communication. Long and busy day at work, still maybe an hour or so until I'm actually off.

I like how the idea of the little prologue to the overall story has grown into a huge episodic adventure in its own right. My character would probably, instead of combat or physical boosters, have been given neurological or mental boosters to see how mental-boosting drugs could help weaker forces face/beat stronger ones. That's at least my idea.

We would probably crash land in the prison ship (as the antagonist would allow it, as it adds to the story, making this a very twisted hunger-games/ Truman show esque adventure) and then we'd fight in an attempt to find a working ship or comm beacon.

[member="Joran Del-Finn"] And also in this web of plot lines there just has to be some room for romance to blossom between the two of us - and probably that will lead me to join the prisoners as they escape.

[member="Silas Miu"] You wouldn't think I would also receive such mental boosters because I am Force-sensitive? I believe the twisted owners of the prison ship would also be interested in how said mental boosters act on Force-sensitives. They know we're both bright people in our own right without the drugs by the point we're administered those things.

One thing that I'm wondering is how will they take my lightsabers that I'm armed with. Even though during this Hunger Games event most likely I'll get them back.,and does anyone else have any plot ideas for my character because so far I got nothing.
