Escape from Purgatory •[Thread Planning/OOC Discussion]•

[member="Silas Miu"]

I, personally, think the order should go Ship, Planet, Escapa! The ship is collecting prisoners, ships goes down the day of the games, mad scramble aboard the ship for resources, ship enters atmosphere after a day or two and crashes. Survivors are hunted. By the way the ship's escape pods would be fried so we'd have to find another way to survive the crash or repair them.

I do think those are all good ideas, but we as prisoners would make the story and RPing all the more fun.

ship, planet, escape too,
although, prisoners and staff alike would be karked if purgatory crashed, I encourage some people to be staff and some to be prisoners, it would give a level of distrust for some time, but if the staff characters are sympathetic to the prisoners going through heck it would bring the group together a bit better and develop them in a stressful environment.

Yea I figured. Plus as Jansal pointed out it would take a lot of time. Although the Heavy A.I. ship could work, maybe it's cybernetically structured for all sorts of things. Lasers, High frequency inducing restrainment, ect idk or maybe it's just a ship that's gonna crash lol

As far as the the game master idea the rules would be really hard to enforce now that I think about it. [member="Jansal Corego"]

Plus even after the whole ordeal is over with. What will we do afterwords we'll we all go our seperate ways,or we'll we perhaps stay in touch,and maybe create a little faction out of this, also I have an idea for a group of guards or a special sect of the purgatory,and cell block that is specialized for force sensitives. Jedi,Sith Etc..

I agree to both.

As far as game mastering goes, have players NOT know the rules if there are any. Consequences will arise for things. Like killing any noncombatants or gladiators. Effect=Monster released that will track you. Try to escape: DEATH. (Dramatic music) Be hunted down by fighters and Interdictors. Maybe things like that. Simply say to the players, 'You'll have to figure out the rules yourselves. Just think like a gladiator.'

you could actually ramp up the difficulty as more and more rules are broken, like I jokingly said, first transgression by all the players some little extra danger, like gundarks or something, maybe some vong creatures as it goes, and some really corrupted Rancors, maybe a cloning facility that produces these creatures could be found on the planet at some point

As mentioned before, this is just the prologue. You, as always, do have the choice of having your character tag along for the whole campaign, but you kinda hit the nail on the head with your speculation.

We'd see that the antagonist is rich and powerful, and organizes these horror games for his own, and his clients, amusement. We'd observe the antagonist gaining more powerful, using his increased political and financial capital to spread these games throughout the outer rim and unknown regions.

We'd figure we, as survivors, are the only hope those caught in the cross hairs have to get back to their lives. We'd form a minor faction (maybe), a resistance if you will. We'd earn our own capital through a company, using the profits and equipment to fund our private war against the antagonist.

Maybe at some point in the campaign the antagonist would appeal to the Hutt Cartel to set up a stable supply chain of slaves. He could also afford to set bounties on powerful, successful people that he and his associates would love to see try to survive these games.

Wow that was really thought out. I definately like the sound of that idea. We get supplied with our own tech. Get funding,and I guess our own little hide out. I never really thought it out like that.

What it's kind of sounding like is something along the lines of a Riddick style slam that's entirely run by mercenaries (sound about right?) maybe a character or two catches wind of what's going on, decides what better way to get information than working for the people running the whole operation? Kind of a mole on the inside, but no one would know who they were (if it comes down to deciding who does the spying I humbly submit my character, it sounds like a hell of a time). But something along those lines? Whoever it is will probably get found out by the higher ups so they'll just get thrown to the wolves when the ship goes down just like the rest of them, that person will have to figure out how to gain their trust, or at least their support, in continuing. I kind of like the idea of maybe just having an undercover journalist(spy, warrior, soldier, etc) type situation?

I like that! That's more of an individual thing, than something which would affect the overall story; so feel free to use that for your character.

That would definitely be interesting, turning this into a minor faction. I would have no problem with that whatsoever, but we'd need to make sure we'd have plenty of people on board; people here have agreed to a long-term RP, but, if we turn that into a faction, I'm not sure how people would react. Again, I'm all for it, but we gotta gauge a reaction.

And perhaps I could use the Force-alcohol spell to render the pilot in a PUI condition (piloting under influence) after the ship drops from hyperspace.

Really, my Force-alcohol spell works in 3 stages: 1, it takes sugar from a source, either internal to the target or external to it, 2, the caster uses the Force to accelerate the fermentation of said sugar intake and 3, the resulting alcohol is lobbed at the target.

[member="Joran Del-Finn"] You kept referring to me as "love" here so I could be your love interest ICly, at least until the RP ends.

Ok my friend I look forward to it.

@Everybody

I really am enjoying this so far. I have never seen,or been apart of such a collaboration of great ideas from quite a few writers,I'm happy to be a part of it,and I really look forward to the direction this is going,and I can't wait to rp with you all!! :)

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

That'd be an incredibly memorable way to do it, but wouldn't a ship of the required size, likely corvette or larger, have more than one person operating in the bridge? If so, could you intoxicate more than one target within a smaller period of time?

[member="Jakkor Kess"]

And I'm glad to have you along for the ride, wouldn't be the same without you, bro. :)

@Everyone

Planet submission is currently being worked on for submission by myself and [member="Joran Del-Finn"]. If you have anything you'd like to see implemented, please tag me.

In addition, I would like to hear everyone's opinion regarding a minor faction dedicated to the RP here - it would certainly do wonders for organization, but unless I can get everyone's feedback, it might only over-complicate matters here. So, please, let me know what you think on the matter.

As for game rules, try and look for a dynamic that would encourage interactivity - something that might push people to think outside the box. I think I told Jaster this when we first met, but, if you got an idea but aren't sure about it, flip it upside down. In this case, we want rules, but we're not sure if they would inhibit RP and we don't know how to enforce them; so let's try and look at it from a different direction, where it encourages additional effort. Rather than make rules with punishments, why don't we force them to do something they wouldn't normally do or be punished for trying to avoid it?

Hopefully you've had the pleasure of watching Princess Bride, if so I'm thinking the fire swamp, if not, basically, sinkholes or quicksand would be great, just saying. Maybe some deadly fauna and fruits. :)
