After reaching the top of the ramparts, Phaelissia quickly swept her gaze across the area. Seeing that it was momentarily clear, the Aetharian turned around and gestured for the acolyte to begin her ascent up the wall. Still, she didn’t allow herself to relax. The sensors in her neck piece and her own ultrasensitive hearing remained primed for any traces of an incoming hostile presence, whether it be Jedi or Netherspawn.

Moments later, a series of roars, hisses, and snarls caused Phaelissia’s ears to twitch in response. After glancing down once more to check on the acolyte, she turned her gaze towards the source of the commotion at the far end of the ramparts. At the same time, the Aetharian called her probe droid to hover over the fortress. However, the decision was redundant, as suddenly, a towering, leather-clad Mirialan leapt up and over the ramparts, coming into sight just as Phaelissia’s cybernetic eyes brightened to an icy hue of cyan in anticipation of a fight.

And a fight it would be, as the figure swiftly ignited a lightsaber, batting away a stray blaster bolt just before her yellow-hued gaze settled on Phaelissia and Eira.

A Jedi.

Once she reached the top, she paused and pulled out a dagger. "Someone is coming here. Get ready." She could sense a Jedi. Someone who she could feel was strong in the Force and Eira was determined to prove her skills in the Force and combat.

“An obstacle in our path.” Phaelissia replied, her tone turning venomous and as she settled into a low stance. “It will be destroyed!” She hissed.

Suddenly, twin beams of ionized CryoBan lanced out from Phaelissia’s gaze in a half-second discharge. Fired from 20 meters away, both beams honed in towards the Jedi’s lightsaber-wielding arm in a less than a heartbeat, delivered with the intent to immediately compromise her opponent's offense (and possibly her defense as well) by freezing the limb in place!

As soon as she locked eyes with the younger woman was as soon as she noticed a pair of brilliant glowing eyes shooting daggers through her. First as a metaphor but then as a very real threat of danger. Cyan bolts of ionized energy flew from the diminutive woman’s eyes, through the air, and toward Ran. Hesitant to clash her saber against the eye beams, she sidestepped both bolts instead and took up refuge behind one of the many half standing stone pillars that dotted the ramparts. The Jedi Knight watched as one bolt traveled over the edge of the ramparts into the open sky where it would eventually fizzle out. The other made a deadly crack against an outside pillar. It would’ve chipped and broken off if it hadn’t been frozen in place. Ran’s face took on a hurt look. Her lightsaber or even her arm had been one wrong choice away from freezing. It was a fact she wouldn’t soon forget.

“Nice trick, whoever you are!” Ran called out from behind cover. “But it will not work on me. So lay down your arms and close your eyes, and make sure your companion does the same. Do that and I’ll be lenient.” She continued. “You have until the count of three.” She informed as she looked toward the sky. She noticed a probe droid that had initially evaded her attention. She wouldn’t comment on it for now. Maybe Ran could turn their perception of having the numbers and the upper hand into a weakness. Ran started counting as she peaked an eye over the pillar to see if the women had done as instructed, and to get a better look at them and assess their threat level.

Both women wore dark armors that obscured their faces. It’d be impossible to tell if both had shut their eyes but Ran would just hope that the other wasn’t capable of the attack she’d just witnessed.

boop

Ran’s communicator dinged an alert. Her team had breached the walls of the High Tower. She needed to join them, but first things first.

Vulpesen's eyes widened as he felt the surge of power coming, sensing it before its release. His options were few. The reflexive tug on his legs made him aware that he wasn't going to be dodging. His saber only now igniting so blocking was impractical. It seemed his best option was of all things, the power of friendship... The Valde's Armor, had initially been forged by an entire circle of wilders using his blood as the catalyst for the runes that carried the imbuements. That formidable armor had then been entrusted to Jedi Master Matsu Ike Matsu Ike , a woman who in Vulpesen's estimations, made it her personal hobby to make an arsenal fit for fighting off gods. That armor now took the brunt of Kalzok's blast. Wind and stone, despite their method of propulsion were still physical strikes to the body. But lightning was, by its very definition, pure energy, and when you grew up fighting hordes of lightning hurling enemies with energy weapons, you learned to specialize.

Vulpesen's cloak soaked up the barrage of lightning, consuming it like an angry carmuuth and converting it into power that the Widler could use. More than any mild pain that seeped through from the sith's attack Vulpesen felt an invigoration as power flooded his veins. "HAHA! C'mon!" His golden eyes blazed wildly as he dropped down to place his free hand on the ground, then with a burst, blasted out from the stone around his legs, launching forward as his saber ignited.

He wasn't sure if he had the practice that Kalzok Kalzok had with molding stone. He had after all, only been a wilder for the last few decades after training among the jedi and the sith, and he had studied a broad range of abilities in that time. But he knew now for certain that what he lacked in finesse, he now carried in raw power. Once more he slammed his will against the stone, using a combination of earth shaping and telekinesis to blast through it while his saber lanced forward to the sith's chest. "HELLO!"

"Undertaker Actual to Roach, Tigers pushing in to reinforce. Load up wounded into rear vics. We'll pop an umbrella for you."
The artillery opened fire, smashing into the tanks pushing into the swamp. Droid poppers coruscated over the battlefield, the ion flux high enough that most of it cut through the humid air. Sara pushed herself out of the water, scanning for hostiles along with the others. She could make out friendly CAS and transports swooping over the area, though she was too busy coordinating the defence.

<<Copy.>> She switched back to Company frequency, relaying the orders to the platoon commanders.

Working like a well-oiled machine, the platoon commanders immediately set up a simple system- wounded from Platoons 1 and 3 would be shifted to the vehicles immediately. Once that was done, the two rear platoons would move up to the current frontline while Platoon 2, right now in the thick of it, would disengage.

Sara checked in Sundial-Actual; casualties had been taken in the past few minutes as the front had absorbed the first wave of droids.

<<Ma'am, you should stay back.>> Her XO radioed, jogging up to her from the defensive position behind the trunk. The nervous Chagrian was still looking around, scanning the area. She wanted to tell him off for exposing his position, but he was largely right. It would not do for the OC of the Company to be caught in the frontline by assassin droids.

<<CONTACT UP!>> She whirled around, and as if summoned by her thoughts, assassin droids dropped out of the tree canopy on the Marines still in the boggy water. The Marines fired wildly in the air, but that was not enough to stop them as they fell upon the Alliance soldiers, blades slicing and dicing.

<<Back to the trunks!>> Sundial-Actual's gravelly voice called out on the net. The Marines scattered, firing at the droids who largely disappeared back in the shadows. Ion grenades were tossed in their general direction, but the lower yield grenades in these cramped conditions would make them more of a deterrent than actually dangerous to the hiding droids.

Sara had made it back to the defensive position as well, and the Sundial's PC Lieutenant had made his way to her.

<<Ma'am, even with the bombardment, the droids already close to us are going to keep pressing forward.>> The Duros Lieutenant transmitted a hastily drawn map to her HUD. <<At this rate, we'll be squeezed in before Anchor and Compass can shore up our flanks.>>

Sara considered the situation- these redoubts that Sundial was holding was the best and driest defensive positions in this area of the swamp. If they pulled back, all three platoons could be caught out of position. It also seemed from the radionet that the Armoured Companies were busy maneuvering already, and a danger-close fire mission here would do more harm than good. As of now, Sara also had no idea about the disposition of the transports that just entered orbit.

<<We hold these positions- there can't be too many of the assassin droids left. Get all Sundial squads to disperse- half in hiding, half holding these strongpoints. We stay submerged.>> If they all spread into the jungle, the assassins would simply infiltrate past them towards Anchor and Compass. Sara frowned inside her helmet, knowing that those who remained visible would be the wounded and a minority of the Marines still in fighting shape. <<Fortune-2 do you read?>>

<<Loud and clear, we are set up near the rear vics.>>
She could hear the experienced drone operator's voice just barely over the idling engines over the comm.

<<Bring your Ravens back to our position, and bring them in as low as possible, scanning the swamp- we need their targeting data.>> The artillery had more than enough data from Fortune-1's drones, not to mention all the armored elements making contact with the tanks. <<Priority data channels to Sundial.>>

<<Roger.>>

<<Incoming!>> Sara looked up and opened fire, hoping against hope that the other two platoons could move up before the assassin droids bled more Marines.

Platoon 1 and 3 at the back evacuate wounded.
Half the Ravens of the Helldivers called back to assist Platoon 2 in fending off droids that are already close to the Marines
Platoon 2 remains to hold off the droids, dispersing again to make use of the environment

Suddenly, just as it seemed that she might not be able to turn any tighter, Seela slammed the foot pedals just before the bandit opened fire, splitting the throttle so that her port-side engine briefly carried the bulk of the power allocation. [...] As the superheated plasma bolts from the X-Wing raced past her fighter (with two grazing her shields in the process) she took an instantaneous snap shot. On cue, four branching electrical discharges exploded out from each of her starfighter’s ion cannons at once, unleashing a salvo akin to a thunderous quartet of lightning strikes.
The astromech bleeped in alarm, activating the GalaxyGuard onboard the TX-05. The front ion shields flared, absorbing most of the discharging and depleting some of it. The two ships merged, and by instinct and training, Shar turned, both craft moving into a turn fight, circling. Shar watched the astromech's analysis complete, just as-

quick course correction thereafter was enough to bring her into a pure pursuit tail-chase after the X-Wing, which briefly opened the distance before Seela kicked another minuscule shot of coaxium into her engines.
Everything the last missile had seen, it would see as well.

<<Fire.>>

Another missile launched. Shar ignored the alarms as he continued the turn, locking on and launching his own missile.

<<Boost!>>

The engines roared to life, and Shar quickly looked over the scanned schematics of the ship- the target's maneuverability had dropped with the sudden coaxium fume spike even as its speed jumped, equalling Shar's advanced X-Wing. In defense and firepower, they seemed to equal. He would need to get the pilot to keep up the coaxium boosts to keep its maneuverability equal to Shar.

<<Revenant Four to friendlies, need assistance on this advanced craft, broadcasting data now.>> Shar called out. No response, but it was worth it.

The missile continued to streak towards him, and he activated the Transmitter again. No dice.

<<Transfer all power to engines and dampener.>> Shar wrenched on the stick. He had less experience on X-Wings than he liked, but it would have to do. His other hand hovered over the manual engine switches, watching the missile on the radar.

He slammed them in quick succession- making use of the four engines to swing his X-Wing wildly by cutting power and turning them back on, flying in erratic zig-zags across space. The off-axis inertia strained the inertia dampeners to their maximum, and the Gossam could feel the leaking G-Forces squeeze at him even as his flight suit began to work to keep his blood moving. The astromech squealed in protest, warning that the dampeners would break if this kept up.

And then the missile shot past, detonating. The shields took a solid hit, but he'd survived. Shar restarted the engines again and looked around for the enmy craft, watching it dodge his own missile. He grit his teeth, pushing power to laser cannons and flying head-on, firing before it could use its superior speed to run off.

"Convoy to Central Command - Data Transmitting...."the voice of Commander OOM-7 said before being blown apart, as the small Trade Federation convoy was devastated in quick succession by the combined arms tactic used by the Galactic Alliance. With the superior skill of the marines underneath Sara Roche Sara Roche smashing through one droid platoon after another in the thick and marshy terrain, there was a significant reduction in the overall droid forces within the southeast swamp. This was further aided by the substantial firepower provided by Gress D'ran Gress D'ran which effectively neutralized their tank support and additional droid reinforcements.

The Battle for the Southeast Swamp had ended in an Alliance Victory -

The Neimoidian cast a glance at the tactical screens, noting the final transmissions from the Convoy Commander before they were blown apart by heavy firepower, which confirmed the decisive defeat of the Trade Federation in the engagement at the Southeast Swamp. The Alliance's superior force of arms and expertly trained marine detachments, armed with modernized weaponry, had proven to be insurmountable.

Nevertheless, they had acquired two significant insights regarding their defeat: first, that the Alliance maintained a marine detachment along with mechanized units in the southeastern swamp; and second, that they had obtained invaluable intelligence concerning the tactics employed by the Hellstompers, which they could subsequently sell to the highest bidder within the Sith Order for the next engagement.

"Wha-at was that..." Sentapoth said in surprise as two of the walls of the CIS Mobile Command Center was smashed in by heavy firepower of the Kyrat Artillery Platoon, resulting in that section crumbling to the ground. The adversary's aerial reconnaissance conducted by Liram Angellus Liram Angellus successfully pinpointed the whereabouts of the Trade Federation's command center, posing a significant obstacle in their efforts to secure victory against the Galactic Alliance in the southern sector of the Palace.

"If we stay here - they will destory our command center and the entire battle will be ended before it can even begin. Wha--at do we do now?" The Neimoidian asked with concern towards Zhom the GRX Super Tactical Droid as they glanced at him with red photoreceptors. His battle analysis computer indicated that advancing to engage the heavy walkers in the city would result in defeat. The marine detachment and mechanized force were poised to outflank the main attack force, leading to their destruction from the rear.

"We have little choice but to withdraw from the engagement with the Galactic Alliance now that we have some insight into the tactics of their marines, mechanized forces and heavy walker compliment. Such data will prove invaluable to the Sith Order's Legions in the war ahead." Zhom explained - the necessity of refraining from further troop sacrifices in this confrontation, recognizing that they had acquired critical intelligence for the Sith Order. Although they had not succeeded in their primary objective of securing the paalce, they had nonetheless secured a strategic advantage for future encounters.

The Tactical Droid would move his hand towards the central control computer to relay a message to the entire Trade Federation compliment -"Command Center to Main Army Compliment - begin to withdraw back into your landing crafts and take off immediately, abandon some antique units if you have to for quicker withdraw. Have the HMP Droid Gunships,
Imperial Phlac-Arphocc Vulture Droid Starfighter (x100) and Imperial Phlac-Arphocc Hyena Tactical Bomber (x8) cover your retreat from the engagement zone by providing air superiority. Artillery keep the skies clear of enemy aircraft as well" The communication was relayed to all droid commanders in the formation, prompting them to gradually shift their forces from the intended forward attack towards the palace to the landing craft areas that had not yet been targeted by enemy artillery.

The retreat was executed in a somewhat disorganized manner, but it did demonstrate its effectiveness temporarily, with the prioritization of loading the more sophisticated weaponry ahead of the outdated war machines at the back. The aerial contingent of the Trade Federation Forces, which includes HMP Droid Gunships, Imperial Phlac-Arphocc Vulture Droid Starfighter (x100) and Imperial Phlac-Arphocc Hyena Tactical Bomber (x8), entered the atmosphere surrounding the designated landing zones to establish air superiority in the event that Rear Admiral Liram Angellus Liram Angellus 's forces opted to engage them.

"Get out of my way - I must retreat first." Sentapoth ascended the ramp with a swifter pace than usual, as the Command Center was being evacuated and prepared for a strategic retreat. He was determined not to perish in this conflict, especially when he envisioned the lavish accommodations awaiting him on Cato Neimoidia upon the battleship's return to Trade Federation territory.

Commander OOM-7's small convoy was destroyed by the superior firepower of the Galactic Alliance.

10 Units of J1 Proton Cannon would carry on anti-aircraft fire to prevent Rear Admiral Liram Angellus Liram Angellus 's gunships from interfering with the strategic withdraw from the engagement zone.

HMP Droid Gunships, Imperial Phlac-Arphocc Vulture Droid Starfighter (x100) and Imperial Phlac-Arphocc Hyena Tactical Bomber (x8) filled the sky around the landing zones to provide air cover for the withdrawing forces of the Trade Federation.

The Trade Federation are withdrawing from the engagement zone using their untouched C-9979 landing craft (10)

"Given ideal circumstances, it'll probably be a few weeks before I return to the Core," Efret admitted. Ideal referred first and foremost to winning at Eiattu. She held the datapad, having taken it but not as much as idly scrolled through it for she didn't want to miss anything Noah said. She expected to have the first batch of recovered artifacts by then. Even if that meant only one or two, she needed to find a suitable place to ship any other artifacts that came through Field Camp Nu.

Which would be her first problem. Suitable was a very subjective characteristic. She knew Jedi both personally and by reputation that were fiercely uncomfortable with the idea of corrupted artifacts, even nullified, being transported through Alliance space, even to protect them from those who would misuse such items.

Those concerns were valid. What was not, as far as Efret was concerned, was the advocation for artifact destruction. Fear could not be allowed to win over knowledge. In just a few words, that's why she and her team were here, and why they'd remain here until there were more artifacts to find, be that because they exhausted every battleground or because the Sith pushed the Jedi back into the Expansion Rim.

"But even then, me work here won't be finished. I plan to stay here either personally or through my team for the foreseeable future," she admitted. "This conflict with the Sith Order will undoubtedly unearth many artifacts that will need attention. The shorter the distance people have to travel with items influenced by Sith presence or majik, the better for everyone." Except for the Sith, but Efret chose for the purposes of this conversation not to consider that aspect of what she was doing. If she did, she wouldn't fulfill her obligations to the Jedi Order. Stealing, in effect, Sith objects was unfortunately the compromise she could stomach. Its ethics were lacking from both the anthropologist and Jedi's prospective that divided her down the middle.

"At that point, you and your legionnaires are free of your obligation to me. I'll leave Knight Stil in charge of the Field Camp while I'm gone. I just want to wait for victory, a few specimens, and for the front to more a system or two away. From there, we should be able to fend for ourselves."

Efret smiled. "I did want you to be aware, though, that in the meantime Nu may be visited by a Jedi Shadow or two. What I'm doing here is divisive." She put up a hand before signing further. "In the kindest way possible, I expect you to not get involved, but I did want you to know that they might make an appearance while you're with us." For a quick moment, the master's brow furrowed as she remembered how a colleague of hers had gotten violent with herself, another Jedi, and a Service Corps member.

The Shadows would surely not cause her trouble like that, right?

Fear sobered her right up. The adrenaline of the sudden dismount morphed to self-preservation. Warning prickles trilled through her neck and pushed her to move without question. From her back, she rolled to the side and transitioned to stand. Through the motion, her hand found the blaster from her holster and positioned it at her hip once she was upright.

Just when she stood, she felt an overwhelming surge of pain and doubled over to the side with an anguished gasp. While the blade had missed the chance to bite deep into her flesh for a fatal hit, the edge grazed along her back and between her shoulder blades. The sting of hurt had a pulse of its own, and she barely had the wherewithal to shield her eyes from the sparks that flashed and splattered burns to her skin.

She dropped to a knee, concealing herself from further damage and recover. Her motions were fumbled, unrefined, laced with heavy gasps and panic. Wide eyed, her gaze darted between her blaster and her assailant.

Red, massive, and unnatural, the glowing eyes that pierced the veil bore down. Like a rush of cold water to her gut, trepidation flooded the youth. She'd never seen anything like this before. If she thought the sewers had been scary, this was something else entirely. The shape of desire and hate felt sharper, focused. And there was no goading, just hate and violence. And… something.. familiar?

The strike had separated herself and Talsin, putting them to the upper right and left of the incredible foe. Instinct and rhythm from training regime after training regime with Talsin took over. She'd adopt the role of distractor. He was the sneaky one, after all.

"Y'know, maggots usually only show up when somethin's close to dead."

Barely thinking, acting only on motion and instinct, Tansu fired of a sequence of salvo at the blade of the incredible creature, and at is feet — all while still trying to catch her breath.

"So if we're maggots, that must mean you're…?"

Yonaka — PREDATOR[/H1]

“The name’s Ko Vuto…” He replied sternly as the grip he had on his San-Ni Staff tightened. Watching as he pulled out yet another lightsaber after the others returned to her. This was notably much larger and more befitting of her imposing stature. Even her wings seemed to vanish uncomfortably into her as well. Whoever she was, she seemed to have a lot of attributes that he’d need to keep in mind. She positioned her blade in a way that would allow for a rather powerful downward strike. The large saber was about twice as big as his own weapon. So he didn’t have any sort of reach advantage when that was combined with her already large physique.

At least he seemed to be allowed to make the first move. Not something he’d wanna take for granted. Given the position of her weapon as well as her size Ko was certain that any strike from her would need to come from above. The Kel Dor Jedi finally rushed forwards. Holding his flexible weapon up defensively to cover himself from her blade if it came crashing down towards him. However, before he could get close enough to actually strike her with his san-ni staff Ko raised his leg before performing a front kick towards her. He wasn’t close enough for his boot to meet her, not that he needed to as a telekinetic blast came from his leg, using it to focus a force push from himself and strike her large body. Ko very much appreciated Form IV since it best convey that a lightsaber was not the only weapon in a Jedi's arsenal, but that they're entire body, each limb, was a powerful weapon as well. Helping him not develop tunnel vision for his own blades or San-Ni Staff.

"Well then, Ko. Come at me," she replied, noticing his grip tighten around the strange weapon. It was easy to tell that the alien was sizing her up. One thing Teresa noticed, though, was how difficult it was to tell where this being was looking. He was the first to make a move, rushing forward, and she too rushed forward to meet him in the middle. However, before she could lower her blade far enough, the lowly little Jedi opened up with a Force push.

Her momentum was lost in that moment, and in the same second, her feet began to scrape backward across the ground. Her hand left the hilt to reach down, swooping and grasping the orange one's ankle. Not one bit of energy was wasted as Teresa swung the Kel Dor around to the other side and released. "Eager... heh. I like that. You'll do fine to entertain me," she said with an unsettling smile of excitement sticking to her lips.

Teresa's blade swung down and out to the side, timing it for when the Jedi was beginning to recover before she started to charge. "You may call me," Even among the sounds of battle her blade humming with a distinct sound as it drew nearer. "Teresa Zambrano." Her name only rang out for a second before she lunged forward with a brutal side slash that came swooping across. Teresa aimed somewhere around Ko Vuto's neck or where it should be if the Jedi did not move. The Valkyrie did not stop the motion after the first swing; the lightsaber turned in a fluid motion to come back with a second swing, this time much lower, pressing the attack further.

In spite of the enemy pilot’s undeniable skill, Seela remained confident in her ability to defeat them. However, it was one matter to beat them efficiently, with minimal resource loss and energy expenditure. It would be quite another to do so after throwing away half of her missiles, depleting her physical countermeasures, and overloading her systems. While shields could recharge, power levels could normalize, and cannons would eventually cool off, consumables such as missiles, chaff, flares, and EM Probes were finite resources that would run out if used unchecked, leaving her combat capability significantly degraded until she returned for rearmament—a lengthy process that would consume yet another valuable resource.

Time.

The thought was a reminder that she needed to end this fight now, given the overwhelming numerical advantage that the enemy seemed to possess. And so, when the opposing pilot abandoned their previous hit-and-run strategy and banked into a hard turn, Seela immediately did the same. Pulling on the control yoke, she broke her starfighter in the same direction of the hostile craft to stay on their six, while simultaneously opening another instance of her awareness to deal with the target lock warning. Although the Twi’lek failed to register the sudden flash of heat emanating through her body as she tracked the enemy missile, the snap decision to commit the power for a deactivation came easy (albeit after a brief consideration of her remaining resources), causing the missile to veer off-target and detonate in the process.

At the same time, while the X-Wing jinked and yawed in a defensive effort to evade her missile, Seela dialed back the throttle and threw her machine into an ascending aileron roll in the opposite direction of her own turn, before diving back down in the original direction of her turn to position her starfighter in a pure pursuit behind the X-Wing. The maneuver ultimately served to reduce her rate of closure, keeping her in an offensive position behind the hostile craft rather than creating a head-on engagement or worse, an overshoot.

And so, after quickly taking stock of her position, Seela clenched her jaw and honed in on the X-Wing, her eyes narrowed in a cold, icy stare as hot sweat dripped down her brow. If all went according to plan, the killshot might be imminent.

Seeing an opportunity, Seela didn’t let a moment of time escape from her grasp. After lining up her starfighter’s nose with the X-Wing’s central fuselage in a pure pursuit, a quartet of branching electrical fulminations surged out from her ion cannons all at once, unleashing a thunderous, galvanic salvo that had the potential to fry systems and knock out the pilot. It was immediately followed by three bolts of searing fusion plasma fired in quick succession from her laser cannons, aimed to strike the X-Wing in its upper aft to potentially destroy the engines!

His boots didn’t make the slightest sound as he glided through the maze of corridors. Each corner Kasir turned was a risk; every guard he passed was a threat. Yet, he remained undetected, his back pressing against the cool walls, merging with the darkness. The assassin paused momentarily and focused on the flow of everything around him. The intense battle taking place near the hangar bay was finally silenced. His senses heightened, tuning in with every sound and flicker of movement nearby. The lights illuminating the halls revealed a trio of men with blasters, their backs turned, oblivious to the danger lurking just behind them. He was tempted to take advantage of their ignorance as he stopped within striking distance. Despite its allure, he resisted the urge. He decided to push forward, coming to the end of another hall. But just as he was about to contemplate the next move, a pull on his consciousness came through the Force. Stopping his progress once more, Kasir drew in a deep breath and closed his eyes.

He could feel the life source of another Sith fading, flickering out like a candle's flame. It sparked a tinge of annoyance within him. However, that wasn't the end of it; there would be more lives that quickly followed. A smirk then played at the corner of his lips. The Jedi believed themselves to be the champions of light, yet here they were, their actions mirroring the very edge they sought to avoid. It was as though they were lost in the depths of their own morality.

There seemed to be a number of wings and chambers, each with its own distinct purpose. Yet, it was the heart of the Citadel that called to him. He chose a path that would lead him to the Grand Hall; it would serve as the stage for their dance. The path to the hangar bay was through the very entrance he had entered from. If the two of them wished to go there, they would have to pass through him.

It was in that very spot he would begin to slowly pace back and forth, letting go of everything and allowing his anger to consume him. With each inhaled breath, he seemed to draw in more dark energy. He felt like his power was growing with every heartbeat, remembering his purpose, and visualizing the fight in his mind’s eye. Underneath the helmet, intensity in his eyes burned a bright yellow. With each passing second, his rage felt like a more reliable ally than any weapon he could carry. He was prepared to unleash everything hidden under his calm facade.

There was no question that the two figures he detected earlier would now begin to feel his presence. Kasir longed to gaze upon the faces of the individuals who seemed to effortlessly dispatch the other Sith just minutes ago. This hunt was not merely about victory and carrying out orders; it was about testing his abilities against worthy adversaries now as well. He would not hide in the shadows; instead, he would act as bait, choosing to draw his prey towards him.

Objective II

-

Dust and dirt kicked up and pushed outwards as the transport ship came down to the ground. The sound of the engine dying down was like a hushed whine. The ship's entrance ramp lowered to the ground, hitting the dirt with a metallic thud. Down it's length came the lady Darth Athora, donned in her armor and her sword resting in it's scabbard. She looked around as she came down the ramp, searching for any of the beasts she had been sent for. The air was still and silent. She exhaled deeply, her armor shifting with her breath.

"The courtyard is clear. Keep out of sight but ready to pick me up on my command. And not a second later."

The transport ship's engine roared to life once again. In a few moments, it rose into the air and took off towards the west. Zahori wandered around the courtyard for a brief moment, awaiting a potential attacker, but nothing came. She looked into the Force, searching for something, anything that she could latch onto and hunt.

"So much noise. Sith wastrels. Jedi? Ugh." she thought to herself. Then, something else caught her attention. "There you are." Her eyes darted towards her right. Turning on her heel, Darth Athora marched to the source of her attention. She peeked through a door, looking into a long hallway. Inside, bodies of the High Tower's guards laid ripped apart across the hall. Blood stained every surface throughout. "How crude." she huffed. Zahori stepped inside, starting her investigation. Echoes of distant Nether creatures could be heard. Several meters away at least. She reached behind and grabbed the hilt of her sword before pulling the blade from it's scabbard. She held it in one hand, at her side. The tip of the blade rested in the innards of some poor fallen guard. She walked forward, into the darkness before her. With only the Force to guide her.

"It could be worse," she said, regarding the cave. Rosalia gave him a knowing glance, as if to say, 'it's better than the Sith.' And to his question, she shook her head, no. "I've heard others telling stories about this place. There are frightening monsters."

As the gap between them closed, and the young man gave her a squeeze, her face cringed tight. But before he could see, she forced her expression to that of relief.

Ah, so he'd already encountered one of those 'frightening monsters.' Well, it looked like he was lucky to have escaped with a bit of a scratched chest plate. His hand was on her shoulder to guide her, and she fought against the instinct to jump away from him. The light was there, and she didn't like it.

Her dark eyes focused on the beam of light, his flashlight illuminating their way ahead. For now, it was clear. But she knew that shadows here were alive, some even seemed to shrink away from the light. When he mentioned calling her parents, she was about to make something up when the ground beneath them began to tremble.

Rosalia's eyes cut to the side, widening slightly as they focused on the man.

"Something is coming…"

As they pushed on ahead, he offered a soft "Clever of you to run. The Sith are dangerous, even to normal folks who are just stander-bys" and a comforting nod. There was no good to come from having the girl start blaming herself for running into the cave system.

The newly formed duo continued moving in with the light in front of them moving with precision to scan each new crevice they encountered. From time to time, Vince would guide her into a crevice with a strong hand to quickly turn, let the light illuminate the path they had just walked and scan the area before pushing on.

For the most part, he did not seem to notice anything of particular note until the ground started shaking. The pace at which the flashlight moved around increased as he steadied himself. But whatever it was that caused the trembles didn't appear immediately. In fact, it subsided for a time. The warrior looked down to her "This is not the time to freeze up. We'll keep pushing until we see something or meet up with the others, let's go"

Ko was rather surprised how she quickly used the momentum. It was impressive and fluid. Being swept off his feet as she grabbed his ankle and tossed him around her. Having him tumbling some across the ground before he acrobatically maneuvered himself back up onto his feet and without a moment to spare he moved his weapon up with both hands to his side to defend against her attack.

All the while introduced herself as well. He wondered if it was going to be just a matter of time until he had a run in with a zambrano loyal to the Sith. The Kel Dor didn’t know if this was another spawn of their forsaken patriarch or someone who’d married into the vast diaspora.

As her weapon collided with his he was quickly made aware of one of the disadvantages of his weapon over a more conventional staff. The San-Ni staff had flex and give so her blade pushed his weapon back towards him. I wasn’t the most solid defense but it was better than none at all. As Ko was stuck it was less like getting his neck sliced through and more like getting struck into the side of the head with a pole as the middle section of his staff cracked against him from the force of her large saber.

The Impact rattled his noggin and hurt the large extra sensory organ on the side of his head. Causing Ko to stumble back, which he tried to use since she was pressing the attack with another. Stepping just far enough away as to avoid being bisected by the imposing nodachi. The tip of it cutting through his loose robes across his chest and leaving behind a scorched trail of fabric that was far too close for comfort.

"Ugh... that hurt..." Ko muttered to himself. He was on the back foot now, and not holding up too well now that she’d scored such a solid point on him a second earlier. His mind raced, feeling as though this Miss Teresa posed similar threats and dangers much like a certain imposing xeno mandalorian he’d encountered before. Where he wouldn’t wanna play into the range advantage she had on him but also knew that getting into a grapple would be just as life threatening. "I suppose it's about time I was tested against a Zambrano..."

Taking a few more steps back Ko slammed his back foot against the solid ground causing the hard surface to have large deep cracks behind him. Shifting his focus he telekinetically hoisted up some of the loose rubble he just created for himself behind him before launching some of the debris towards his opponent. Hoping that her large stature and armor limited her mobility and nimbleness as he attempted to bombard her with about a dozen stones, each around the size of his head. That the force of such impacts would transfer and hurt the person beneath the durable armor blackened armor.

Alarm washed over Zaiya, blanching her skin with pale yellow hues as she took in the alarming discovery: Aris's saber hadn't cut through the towering Sith's skin. The failed attack only seemed to encourage the Sith; a fight was exactly what he had been searching for. Zaiya wasn't sure if the Force flash had been successful; the Sith had remained still. When the crackle of the red unstable saber ignited, a chill ran down her spine. This was serious.

There wasn't a second to waste. Zaiya could tell Aris was also shaken, but they couldn't risk making any mistakes. The Epicanthix shouted out a single word: "Sting." To anyone else, it might have seemed like an obscure command, but for Zaiya, her eyes widened in instant understanding.

The poison sack from the Netherbeast. Aris had sliced the stinger open before the Sith appeared, revealing the fist-sized organ. Maybe they could use it to slow down or incapacitate the Sith. But how? If his skin was impenetrable, then…

Wait.

An idea sparked. With a flick of her wrist, the Force answered her command, and she ripped the poison sack from the stinger. With a squeeze, she tossed it toward the Sith, hoping it would land right against his face. If the oozing poison smeared across his skin and saturated into his eyes, nose, or mouth, it might get into his system.

If that didn't work... well, she had another idea, but it was far riskier. It would be tricky, but she had to trust that Aris had practiced detoxifying himself as he had before. If anything, Zaiya could assist him afterward if it didn't. The Sith couldn't do that for himself and fight Aris at the same time, right?

Objective II - The Veil

tyIEZur.jpg

The effects of the planet caress her soul, and her heart beats in unison with its enticing melody.

Then…interruption happens. "There it is!" From the mouth of the cave his voice screamed out to her. She scowls as she halts in her steps. Little puffs of smoke disperse from her ears, as her eyes darken to black coals. She didn't have to allow his intrusion to rattle her. She could simply step into the vortex and continue her Spell behind a veil which Jax isn't likely to follow. He had followed her into the Netherworld once before, and the result was one unpredicted. The Ashla saved him. That sucked big time. 'This ritual does call for a sacrifice of one familiar.' The Nightsister ponders the convenience of Jax's arrival. Pom decides to try and keep Jax alive until it would become necessary that he die.

The fresh incantation urging to continue upon her lips begins to stale. That does not stop the conjuring, only her personal recitation. Beyond the veil is where the real Magick is brewing.

As usual, her current engagement with Jax seems more annoying than every memory of him prior. She wonders how in the hell he always seems to find her. He had to know where she would Aparate, before even she decided to heed the call of the Darkside.

'The family code be damned,' she decided. ' Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex will be forgiving if I get rid of this one persistent menace!' Jax is afterall, a son of Carnifex…sort of, her step-son. Slaying his bloodline is forbidden, although Carnifex himself is known for offing whomever he chooses. Surely he will forgive her this one minuscule transgression. She knows how to make it up to him!

Jax and Pom had a history which led to her being cordial in their past dealings, despite his customarily rude approach. Here he is again, making demands upon her choices, as if the entire galaxy must bow to the will of the Jedi and worship his Ashla.

She does possess one last nerve.

"Frak cordiality!" she blurts and animates once again.

Standing concealed within the shadow of the cavern, the Nightsister withdraws her laser whip from her waist, simultaneously stomping her foot upon the rock bed which emits an explosion, blasting rock and bone out the mouth of the cave. A plume of dust hangs in the air. A swift flick of her wrist projects the tip of her whip to cut through the air, emitting an audible crack as she flicks a switch upon its hilt, while in mid cast. The barb of the whip suddenly radiates a red glow, as the tip appears while it snaps where Jax stands outside the mouth of the cave.

That armor now took the brunt of Kalzok's blast. Wind and stone, despite their method of propulsion were still physical strikes to the body.
[...]
Kalzok moved fast, reacting. It appeared that the Force Lightning did not work. This was unexpected.

His arms twisted and pulled inwards, and the Sith Warblades floating alongside him moved, a wall of sorcerours steel flying around him. Several flew toward the blur that was Vulpesen's propelled form- at the combined relative speeds, some were likely to strike. Kalzok calculated a high chance that some of them would damage the armour and cloak that absorbed his blast.

Once more he slammed his will against the stone, using a combination of earth shaping and telekinesis to blast through it while his saber lanced forward to the sith's chest. "HELLO!"
The remnants of the wall exploded toward Kalzok, and the floating Warblades turned inward like a folding fan, toward the point of the lightsaber. Sparks and plasma flew in uncontrolled arcs, and Kalzok leaped backward, floating. The Wilder's momentum drove him and his blade forward, a nd the Warblades pushing back against Vulpesen's lightsaber frayed and split apart, buying Kalzok just enough time to let his Force power flow out of him again. With his mastery of Alter Environment, his mind unfolded, his senses unfurling and time seeming to slow for just a brief moment.

The threads of probability, of physical forces that flowed outward from this point were wild, untamed- wounded by the battles here so long ago. The Thaumaturge pushed himself, and with his power he grabbed the threads and pulled hard. In the waking world, the a torn earth and stone flew upward, a desperate defence- as if gravity were reversed, pulling toward a point directly between Kalzok and Vulpesen, still propelled by inertia.

i forgot kalzok doesnt have a bunch of lightsabers- it's those sith alchemy warblades. just assume i retcon my first post in this thread

Watching Phaelissia jump into action, the icy blast she sent from her eyes was impressive. It definitely meant that the woman had some serious enhancements that Eira had not gotten to see from their previous mission together. In future, Eira was going to need to see what specs the cyborg had. Just in case any would be useful to her, in ways that did not weaken her Force powers. For now, Eira pulled out a long dagger and held it ready. Moving to the opposite side that Phaelissia was attacking from. Splitting the attention of the lone Jedi.

She watched as the Jedi fled and hid. A coward. Attempting to call for their surrender when she was fleeing them. It was insulting and the rage burned through Eira's body, electricity sparking from her right hand. As soon as the Jedi moved to look up, Eira thrusted her right hand forward and a lancing strike of Force Lightning shot towards the Jedi's head. She was still stepping towards the Jedi with her dagger in hand, the Force pooling in her fist as she ready herself to face whatever the Jedi was doing next.

Her gaze briefly looked over to Phaelissia and checked where her partner was and what her next attack would be. Swallowing hard, this Eira's first big fight and she was eager to demonstrate her skills and why she should be considered a prodigy in the Force.

As the shields on the droids and platforms advanced under the barrage the Troopers grew more confident and precise, no longer running for cover and evading incoming fire but instead moving up and properly engaging their foes. The walkers that greeted them were an issue of course but between the cannons of the droids and the heavier weapons of some of the squads the Sith Troopers were starting to cover some real ground. It was still a long way to the Citadel but at least they had managed to get their feet beneath them now.

Darth Strosius felt a disturbance as a bolt of lightning struck and destroyed one of his droids a bit ahead of where he himself stood, the Troopers which had been advancing alongside it quickly falling back beneath the shield of another droid behind them as the walkers started picking them apart. One distinct presence stood out from the rest of the Jedi, not only in regards to its closer proximity but also a slight familiarity. Someone was heading their way it seemed, someone that he had engaged before. He couldn't quite recall where he had felt such a presence before but it hardly mattered.

They would die all the same.

"Acolyte Voss." He called without glancing back at the younger Sith, drawing his sword in his free hand as he looked towards where the lightning had come down and where he could sense the Jedi. "It seems one of our foes has sallied out to meet us. Let's not keep them waiting shall we?" Instead of marching forward the masked man began advancing across the lines of his Troopers, moving to intercept this presence and rid himself of the issue. Every Jedi slain was a victory after all, and he already had more than a few casualties to make up for.
