There are no allies allowed in this invasion i'm afraid(surprise attack). However if you wait a little bit, more will be coming where allies will likely be allowed :)

Or defect to the Republic.

Also, [member="Darth Mierin"], cheers on the 2000 post mark.

Looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.

[member="Ryan Korr"], I made a horrible mistake in going into the palace.

I gave you an avenue to explain Ryan's survival, though. And, I'm not departing from the thread until it's finished. I'll wait for the dust to settle and then see if the Palace is still a viable location or if elsewhere is better.

[member="Darth Junra"]. I was kinda wondering about that decision, lol.

No worries though, in the ensuing explosion I'm pretty sure Ryan would get thrown a few dozen feet and possibly knocked unconscious, so we'll have to continue this another time as I don't think it would be realistic for him to just get up and auto-find you. Maybe we can have it some other time.

[member="Darth Odium"], you and [member="Quinn Vos"] are probably still near the Palace so we could fight, maybe.

Here's my reasoning on why the palace is still (mostly) standing. The post I was linked to was a single paragraph in a three paragraph post (albeit well written). The number of soldiers wasn't stated, but after combat engagements and the like, they wouldn't number super high. The Aldera Royal Palace is a huge sprawling complex with multiple towers, a huge dome, multiple wings, and a guest wing set aside from the palace itself. The group putting explosives would literally require hundreds of pounds of explosives and at least an hour to set them all. The NPCs involved didn't seem to be anything aside from standard front line troops and while I'm sure Helios is an excellent practitioner of Force Sight and a specialist in Archaeology, I don't think he's a demolitions expert or an explosives expert and archaeology only goes so far into understanding the full mechanics of architectural design.

My logic is simple: Helios and a squad or more of front line infantry with only the explosives they could carry (even star wars explosives) would not have been able to set the number and size of charges needed to destroy the entire Aldera Palace. I understand there was probably previous damage to the structure, but let's be honest, this would be the equivalent of 9/11 where the plane hit the side of the building. A tower may be knocked down, a wing destroyed, loads of damage, but the majority of the palace would still be intact. Also, the tanks were shelling the grounds around the palace and the steps of the palace. A stray shot or two, maybe, but the damage caused by teh tanks would be minimal to the building itself.

If you feel differently, feel free to PM me. I'm not out to retcon folks, I'm not out to power game or god mod anything, just using basic, standard logic on an IC issue.

I don't mind speaking my reasoning in public, but if you want me to i'll edit this and PM it to you. Allow me to refute your point. Along with the charges earlier set by Helios, about 1/3rd of the palace was already said to be collapsed by both your members and mine, by charges set in a series of my post(i linked this as well and tagged you in the post with the explosion) thats a huge section of the palace that has already come down and thus the structural integrity of the palace would be shaky at best.

Taking this into account, and adding the fact that Helios' set charges on structural weak points holding up ceilings, walls, etc... and then agia add to that the ground quakes of a dozen tanks(you didn't specify the numbers but i assume its more than 10) firing into the steps directly before the building around it, and even striking it once or twice(And trust me on this, tank shells of any significant size make the ground shake like you wouldn't believe) it would be more than sufficient to knock down most of the palace, if not that then a majority.

Oh aye, though with a palace that large, especially one with a dome that big, relatively large sections would still be standing. Even then, there's still a separate guest wing according to the Wookieepedia page that is, iirc, "a long distance away" that could arguably still be untouched and is considered part of the palace as per the Wookiee page.

I would say that the main center of the palace has been destroyed. Yes there are probably a few fringe towers standing, and maybe the guest suite, but if you read the wookiee's section on the external layout, its still contained in mostly one compound a third of which was previously destroyed by me, and thus probably already causing the rest of it to fall down, structures aren't meant to simply have a third of them go missing at random, especially not ornate palaces never designed to see weapons of war. Added with Helios' explosives it would be more than enough to cause the rest of the palace to fall down naturally. The palace proper has been razed to the ground undoubtedly. Even if Helios' men aren't explosive experts, the place was already in shoddy enough shape, and the explosives were large enough(each one being a shaped charge) that it would tear the place down with the aid of gravity and the nearby artillery and tank bombardements.

Again I would grant that perhaps the guest room, and a few small towers still stand, but saying thats still "The Palace" is a bit silly in my view.
