I am, considering that he's blatantly power-gaming to get his advantage (hell, the Republic as a whole seems to have been doing this from the start).
Yes, our ships are outdated, but not to the point that this would be a curbstomp battle in the Pubs' favor. I mean come on, there's instances in the Expanded Universe of THOUSAND-YEAR-OLD WARSHIPS WITH NO SHIELDS WHATSOEVER still being useful (for example, Naga Sadow's flagship Corsair in service of the Krath, and in an even more blatant example, Corsair's sister ship, the Omen, in the service of the Lost Tribe of the Sith despite being FIVE thousand years old, and the Omen didn't have the benefit of carrying a star-destroying superweapon). The TIE Defender, while old, would still be very fast given how technology seems to improve very slowly in-universe, and it would CERTAINLY be faster than a bunch of corvettes!
He seems to be dead set on maintaining the status quote. Our whole point for this campaign is DEFYING the status quote, shaking things up to create some variety, but alas, it looks like this is going to be quite the anticlimactic campaign.
They need to get over themselves and realize that sometimes, the bad guys win.

Either way, I need help or those corvettes are going to annihilate my TIE Defender squadron
