Knocking on Forbidden Doors

"Maybe we can share our recipes. I grew up on a desert world as a slave. So my family did not have much to live with. Probably one of the reasons I can make a bunch of food out of very little."

Back then it had been herself and her mother, it wasn't until she had been freed that she had more in her family. Her mother got married to her step-father and they had three daughters of their own and then helped raise her son.

Through her ship, there were a few decorations from Lorrd and in her own cabin Seo had pictures of her family. Those personal items Iturizu likely wouldn't see unless she left her door open. This being what Seo thought of as home, there was a very good possibility of that happening.

Listening to his questions, she couldn't help but show some emotion outwardly. It wasn't much, but a small and comforting smile.

"As a Jedi, I follow the call of the Force. You are not the first or the last person I will find in such a manner. However, you are not the normal suspect in this. It isn't often any kind of Sith needs help. Light or dark, so you are different. My mannerisms though are from my people. I am from Lorrd and speak with my body more than words or broad actions with my hands."

"I think I have heard about that, a limited child can foster some of the best cooks", he was certain some short race with long ears was quite like that, merchants that often had to live of the land. Stories told that they could make a meal out of bug meat, animals claws and frog skin, a meal that tasted quite good that you'd never know what it was. "Anyways I would be more than prepared to share a few ideas of my own for cooking, just don't be surprised if they seem a little complicated and if half the words are unfamiliar". Not language wise but there were many words in basic and his own tongue that were so rarely used people needed to look up a dictionary to find out meaning, and quite a few ingredients shared that problem.

As she continued to talk a few points he was not aware of came up. "Well I am not your average Sith, to be honest the only thing that keeps me as a Sith is the fact I follow it's code even though I use the light side of the force". "Take that away and I am more or less just a light knight of no real order, still it is nice to know my position is unique enough". Still what came off as the most interesting was the latter part about her race, the Lorrd, one he had not yet come across. "So you are sort of like Echani but instead of talking it's your emotions and it is quite literal.... quite interesting, but nice to know the reasoning for your calm persona".

There was something unique about many people from Lorrd. They were experts at picking up languages, inflections and blending in with the population of many worlds. Seo Linn had that training so any words Iturizu might say, she would learn what they meant and act on them. She was a quick learner and if he started to tell her anything, she would make progress already.

Listening to what he said on the Force and his alignment, she tilted her head just slightly. Taking a bite of the food she had made, it gave him the chance to finish his own observations about her.

"Yes, in a way we are similar to an Echani. Only they communicate through fighting to my knowledge. How they move while fighting. Ours isn't combat related. We watch everything. From the timing of a blink to something greater like the crossing of arms or legs, even the tilt of a head. Words don't always come naturally and we usually hold our tongue in certain situations."

She made no further comment on his alignment and let that subject die. Unless he wanted to continue speaking about it, it should be clear Seo accepted him and his company.

It was always interesting to know more about someone else's culture, perhaps since he felt a little detracted from his own. Living a life of a merchant before turning to the Sith Yuvie had not really had time to delve into Mirialan culture and beliefs, more just copying what his parents did. Clothing style, hair style, most of his current fashion sense was heavily influenced by them, though that was all he got before their untimely death.

"You may have to teach me a little about your language and body motion so I can have a slightly easier time talking with you, would be nice to know your emotions with your speech, I feel that always helps carry the meaning of certainty words when in a conversation". That and if he ever came across more Lorrd, seemed like it would be a useful skill to have. "But that can wait until we finish eating, don't want your work to go to waste not do we".

[member="Seo Linn"]

"Well, we speak Basic, so that pretty much everybody knows. It's the finer aspects that people don't. A lift of an eyebrow or finger. The way somebody stands or moves. Everything is taken into consideration and not something people would notice normally."

As Seo spoke, she displayed some of her language to him. Already starting the lesson even if he didn't know it. The fact they were also eating just contributed to it being as something like a normal conversation.

Coming to terms with having to be social was sometimes difficult for her, but when she was at home or someplace she was comfortable, it was natural for her.

"I hope you enjoy this. As I said it's something simple, fast to make and quite filling. Depending on your metabolism, you shouldn't be hungry again until tomorrow morning. I certainly won't be."

She said this with a small smile as she took a bite of the food and drink she had made

"Not what you would normally notice, interesting, so even the slightest movement pertain to your speech not just basic body language of an everyday conversation"? It was a fascinating subject, though having to keep an eye someone for any minor movement did feel a bit strange, when talking it was common manners to look a person in the eyes while talking. So to change focus onto their body as a whole seemed a little odd, perhaps it was just a practice thing one got used to over time.

Perhaps they would need to sit down and have a proper lesson on this but for the mean time he kept glancing down to not her movements and tried to assume the meaning and emotion behind them. "As I said it is nothing I am not used to, it taste quite nice, as for filling, well I haven't had to much to eat in the last few days, so I may be coming for seconds some time after eating".

More so if he began to exercise again, a week on the run and not being able to keep up a routine to stay in shape, needless to say he'd lost a bit of muscle mass and needed to try and get it back as soon as possible.

"Yes, between the people of Lorrd pretty much every movement means something. When it comes to those, not from Lorrd, subtle movements don't mean as much. I want to pick an example of something. People make moves even when they are not aware of them. A lying person usually won't meed the eyes of the person they are talking to."

That wasn't always the case and some people were so proficient at lying, they could deceive many people.

"We still look at people we are talking to, but when we meet with other Lorrdians, then we pay attention to everything."

Teaching him would take time and right now they had a while. Unless her ship suddenly got faster, they would be together for an extended period of time.

"You are welcome to have as much as you want."

The former inquisitor held a hand to his chin as the women elaborated more on her peoples way of interacting with each other. "I under stand that, as per my training in the Galactic Empire I needed to be able to note persons movements in interrogations". "Often helped avoid the use of certain 'devices', those could be quite messy", not the most enlightening past to have under ones belt, but it would give some help in understanding the way Lorrd people communicated.

"So it's like using slang, when with your own people you use more moments and keep a closer look then when talking with someone like me from a different culture". It was the best way to describe such a 'thing' but the easier he could visualize and understand it in his own way the faster he could learn for converse properly with someone like Seo.

"Well we have plenty of time to get things sorted out, and again thanks for the food, quite tasty".

[member="Seo Linn"]

Making a snap with her hand and pointing a finger at Iturizu, she indicated he was exactly on the correct path. The fact he had once been a part of the Galactic Empire did not make Seo treat him any differently than she was currently.

"You're figuring it out on your own just fine. You'll pick this up with no problem."

Making a sort of dismissive wave with her fingers, she finished off her plate of food and pushed it to the side.

"If you're still hungry, help yourself to more. No problem. I wouldn't be a good host if I didn't have something to eat."

He gave a small smirk, rubbing the back of his head at the praise, "thank you, never though my skills as an inquisitor would lead to aiding the learning process of a new language and way of communication". Ironic if one were to think about it but one should never look a gift horse in the mouth.

He continued to eat for a few moments, making sure to satisfy his stomach, "thank you, but that should do me for now, I should probably ask where I'd be sleeping for the next few days, I'm guessing this place has a few extra room"? She had stated situations like this happened often enough, so Yuive assumed some form of guest room.

[member="Seo Linn"]

Much of what Seo had learned had happened as she grew up on Lorrd, but other things had been learned after she joined the Silvers. Learning continued through life and could be carried over from one area into another.

"What you learned then, you can use now. Even if you are no longer that Inquisitor, you still remember what skills you had. Just keep adding to them."

When he finished eating, she picked up their plates and cleaned up the table. Turning her head a little as she washed, she tried to show how she split her focus.

"Let me get these cleaned and I'll show you the cabins I have. You can pick the one you want."

If he decided to go look around himself, that was fine too. It didn't take her very long to get the items cleaned and she set them on the counter to dry.

"There are two rooms besides my own you can pick from."

"Well I wouldn't say I am no longer an inquisitor, even in the Galactic Alliance my espionage talents were of good use, but I get your meaning". Perhaps he'd once again fine himself in that sort of role in the future, but maybe a change of pace. Eventually dinner came to an end, Yuvie handing the dirty plates over to his host as she went about doing the dishes, "certainly, I could use a decent rest right about now".

As Seo went around cleaning up after their meal her guest started to take a loot around, noting the supple and personal aspect of the craft, though it wasn't overly clean to a fault it was clear the owner cared for the ship. Beyond that each little detail told a tale, he could sense that this place had transported a many force users, the light seeming to emenate from the walls, making the already homey feeling ship that more welcoming.

His little thought trip was soon to come to a close as Seo once again appeard directing him towards the vacant rooms, "Is there any difference? if not I will take the left room, always had a thing for the left side".

[member="Seo Linn"]

"Of course. Everything a person has done in their life goes into making them who they are. So while you might no longer be that inquisitor, you still have that as part of you. I really do think you understand though."

Putting the dinner items away, it would be noticed that on her ship there weren't any items just lying around unless they had just been used. There weren't too many personal touches in the ship. It was still homelike and comfortable. The personality that was there showed this was a safe place. A place where one could be who they were.

About the only extra items that did lay around were blankets on the back of the furniture in the Commons area. No artwork hung on the walls or small items on tables. That was the kind of person Seo was. Simple and businesslike, everything had its place and she kept her ship straightened up.

"No there is no difference."

Double checking to make sure it had sheets for the bed.

"Is there anything else you need tonight?"

"That is nice to know, don't think I've ever sat down and had such a conversion before, it has been quite an eye opener for me this day". He replied turning back to the simple room in front of him, gave of a hotel vibe with how little was in the room but at the same time just enough to live comfortably. "No I do not require anything else, again thank you for the rescue, I hope to learn more about your peoples form of communication during our travels away from first order space". He gave a small smile towards Seo before entering into the room, flopping onto the bed in a very casual manner, letting the soft mattress, "soo comfy, I guess I should say good night for now? assuming we are on the same time zone". Space lag and changes in sleeping patterns was always a minor problem when going from one end of the galaxy to the other, "either way I won't be up for another 6 hours, my body and mind need rest".

[member="Seo Linn"]

It wasn't very likely he would have this kind of conversation with another person again either.

"You are quite welcome. Sleep when you want and be awake when you are. Simple rules to live by while in space where there is no day or night. Have a good night, Iturizu and see you when you wake up."

Making her way into her own room, she closed the door. It was unlocked in case he needed anything through the night, but it kept her privacy and allowed him to have his as well.

"I guess for a nomad like you day and night is of no concern, he, alright see you later then", a small hand wave was given before Itutizu retried for the night, getting comfortable under the sheets and letting his mind wander. Slowly but surely the Mirialan dozed off to bed, the sense of time being lost as dreams took hold, what welcomed him in such a land though was a mystery. Times it would be good dreams of better times, others, not so much, the many faces of dead coming to haunt him here and their, those of comrades and former loved ones, other dead by his own hand, Jedi and Sith alike depending on age in the dream. Thankfully the force was kind, his night being carefree, a dream about a simple dinner and eating strange foods being the main focus...

Their night passed peacefully, but Seo didn't expect any trouble. Once they had left First Order space and were travelling the hyperlane, the only thing they might have to fear were pirates. Her ship was fast and manoeuvrable so if any trouble did find them, she assumed they would be able to escape easily. Morning came with no change to the ship. As she said, day and night meant nothing while in space.

When she woke up, she got out of bed, dressed and went into one of the other rooms. On her ship, this was what she used for her meditation. In this room was where Seo listened to the call of the Force and followed it. Her guest might not know how important this room was to the Jedi and maybe he never would. Time was lost to her as she sat on her heels and just listened.

If Iturizu found her, she would notice and invite him to join her. If he did not, then she would complete her routine and go prepare breakfast for them.

Though he couldn't see if the dark grasp of First Order space slowly went away, the dark side of the force that accompanied the Ren slowly fading away during the night. It was quite the nice thing to wake up to, the light side being easily accessible once more, it was quite the soothing feeling, but still a little strange. Though having put the dark past behind he still called himself a Sith, and never fully got the chance to train in the ways of the light, no time like the present, he had plenty of time to train.

As 'his' morning came the Mirialan sough out the ship owner, wanting to ask her about possibly lessons, she seemed like a person of talent and skill. If not Iturizu was certain she knew someone back in the Silver Jedi willing to take on a semi student, speaking of which were was she? Getting up the former Sith wandered around the ship for a minute before finally coming into sight of the Jedi as they meditated, a skill he had yet to properly get the hang of, "good morning Seo, I see you are meditating, mind if I take a crash course"?

[member="Seo Linn"]

Her eyes opened when Iturizu entered the room. As if him crossing the threshold had woken her up. That wasn't the case at all and she looked up at him with a bit of a friendly look on her face. Motioning to the room around her, she nodded and waited for him to join her.

"Do you not know how to meditate?"

It was one of the first things Seo had ever learned even before she had known it as meditation. Her life growing up as a slave hadn't granted her much time to be alone, but when those times had come, she had turned internally and learned how to meditate. The method she used might not work for him, but she could try and walk him through it. If nothing else, it was a starting point and he could experiment on his own after this lesson.

A small shrug came from Iturizu as Seo inquired about meditating, "to be honest no, I understand the concept and have seen other perform it but I myself have yet to sit down and try it". His reply coming while walking further into the room, taking a seat next to the Lorrd women, observing her current position. "Would it be to much to ask for a small lesson on how to properly undertake meditation? I know it's a skill often harder to achieve then one would think".

Mainly due to all the mind stuff involved and being at peace, patients and becoming one with the force, not exactly a Sith specialty, their type of meditation often involved focusing on emotions and what made you strong, learning how to pull them out. In his mind still a valid method, all but with less harmful emotions, love and happiness being the for front of his ideology these days along with hope, still getting some more experienced in other forms o meditations and leaning a way to be more at peace was definitely beneficial.
