Maybe that was the case seven thousand years ago, but in the modern era only those who subscribe to the Sith culture have the legitimacy (however small it may be for most Sith) to claim the vaunted title of Dark Lord of the Sith.

All Sith are Dark Jedi, but not all Dark Jedi are Sith and as I pointed out it was originally the Dark Jedi Exiles that brought the Sith to prominence.

Exar Kun & Ulic were proclaimed Dark Lords of the Sith by the ancient spirits, so they're a special case.
So unless the ancient spirits actually rise from their graves to go out of their way to bequeath the title onto you, there's no other feasible way a Dark Jedi can profess their claim to Dark Lord of the Sith as being legitimate.
