OLD Factory Q&A

I've got a question that I have been wanting to ask for quite some time now.

Does Terentatek leather require a dev thread to be used in an armour sub thread?
I don't see it in the restricted items list, but I thought I'll just ask to be sure.

It depends on the purpose. If you alchemize it to reduce the efficiency of force attacks, that is generally a yes - as it was not a canonical ability of terentatek leather - but in most all other cases the answer is no.

Thanks. Appreciated.

By any chance, do you have any suggestions on a leather-like material that provides adequate protection against blasters/explosions which do not require a dev thread?
My knowledge on the materials is extremely limited and I'm having difficulty finding suitable materials. Thanks.

Glistaweb offers good blaster resistance, armorweave might provide moderate resistance to both to a lesser degree, but I don't believe there are many leather/silk like materials which provides protection against explosions.

Hello, I have a question regarding shipyards.

The company that I recently started has a Naval Starships division, in that we build starships. Now my company began on a world with canon Shipyards, however these Shipyards are described as minor and small. Due to my ever growing need for expansion and one upping myself I would like to construct my own shipyards on a world that has none. My only obstacle in this is the rule regard Space Station;

Average Length: 600 - 4000 Meters.
In the template it states that Space Stations need to be 4,000m in length, no more. However I believe that this is entirely unrealistic when it comes to shipyards. Most major canon shipyards are much, much bigger than this. Kuat, Fondor, Corellia, and even Yaga Minor have Shipyards that massively dwarf anything near 4,000m. This makes sense, since in order to mass produce capital ships you would need far more space than 4,000m, especially since typically capital ships are 1,000m+

As far as I can see the only rules that apply to the size of Space Stations is the one quoted above and this rule;

Tefka said:
5. Space Stations at or above 1,000 meters will always require a development thread. Minimum: 40 posts, 3-4 writers
This rule establishes that larger Space Stations require more Development, something I am completely accepting of and willing to work with.

As a whole I believe that these two rules, aren't purposeful in restricting the building of shipyards, instead I believe this rule exists to restrict "Fortress" Space Stations that would be massively armed and overpowered, though thats just my theory and it fits considering this rule on Flagships;

Tefka said:
6. No ship over 3,000 meters will be approved for any Major Faction without a completed Flagship thread.

So my question is this; If I put in enough work, and leave out exact dimensions(so as not yo be daunting), would I be allowed to construct a shipyard rivaling that which can be found on Kuat, Fondor, or any of the other places I listed? If so, how much work would I need to put into it?

Hello!

Caius on the company alt here, got a quick question in regards to agricultural products and such.

Right now I'm working on a development thread (or series of threads) on making cereal, breakfast cereal to be exact and similar to froot loops.

Are there any requirements or guidelines for food submissions?

Am I correct in that a food submission will be using the Basic Template?

No special requirements! Just use the basic template.

[member="Alric Kuhn"] To answer your question, I'd honestly put in the same amount of work for a Flagship. So roughly 300-400 posts. Since you're trying to rival and have something "bigger" than what's offered to you through canon. Its a really good question I thank you for bringing it up.

Question 1: Yes
Question 2: Series of threads adding up to 300-400 posts; or you can do a single thread with 300-400 posts.
