OLD Factory Q&A

Canon and Chaos canon are rather ambiguous on the properties of Stygium.

Does it provide full visual cloaking as well as sensor cloaking? IE, if used for personal armour does it render a person invisible to sight as well as sensors?

Cheers

I am unable to find a source where it is physically invisible, so right now I'd have to go with just sensors and scanners.

[member="Valiens Nantaris"], Im not a Judge, but I saw a bit of confusion, on something I am versed in.

The cloaking device was a mechanism capable of rendering an object invisible to both sensors and/or the naked eye.
Cloaking devices were once fairly common, based on stygium crystals…

It does if used with proper cloaking devices.

Anyway, I do have a question:
A unique weapon, lightweight, with little recoil, that shoots huge bullets. What kinda dev am I looking at?

Its going to contain Merr-Titan, uller bone, and (if its approved) my DBS Gel. Itll be a large anti-materiel rifle that is super lightweight, with minimal kickback.

But it is also something my company now heavily focuses on, the alchemized uller bone that is, as well as guns. Im saying that, because im hoping to not need a thousand posts lol. From what i have seen in the past, 20-30 could do it. But again i am not a judge

Physics will be working against you.

As much as development can provide a buffer for various special features, breaking balance isn't something development can cover. Unless I see the actual submission I can't really give you a definite answer based on the question you've asked, but I would suggest either having development ready and being ready for compromise as to whether it may or may not be unbalanced (I can't really tell because I haven't seen the details of your submission yet) or simply going in with reduced recoil (like, say, half as much recoil as a normal rifle of the same size/type) with whatever development you feel comfortable doing. The latter would probably net you ten or fifteen posts, the former could vary depending on what you're pushing for.

[member="Darth Vitium"] Precisely. I really am asking about whether ionite interferes with a guidance system.

As a writer I have two possible casings for ordnance containing ionite. One has guidance systems, the other does not.

If ionite interferes with guidance systems, I will go with the dumb-fired casing (in which case it will be a proton bomb), if it doesn't, I will go with the proton torpedo.

Ionite interferes with electronics in general, including stuff like guidance systems

If I were to create a Holocron with the intent of saying that it is one of a collection (the only undamaged and functioning one, to be more specific) that served as a repository of knowledge for a long dead Force Cult and having said item be retrieved by myself (with the intent of supplying it for a Minor Faction to use), what sort of Dev thread would be needed for this?

(I'm assuming that this is a subject for the Factory, however, if I am wrong in this assumption, then please do feel free to correct me.)

[member="Darth Vitium"]

Please do forgive, me, perhaps I should have specified. What I meant to ask, basically, was as to whether or not a thread locating and retrieving the Holocron would be suitable or not. But, as a follow up question to your reply above, would the post count for the dev thread depend on my number or posts? Or could this be achieved in a thread with a group of people?

I'm a little confused as to what you mean by

If you mean word count, we just go by the number of posts made (unless you mean posts by your character, in which case a group thread is perfectly acceptable).

Finding the holocron should be fine so long as you detail what is in it somehow in the thread. How you do that is up to you, just have fun with the thread - and include as many people as you'd like to.
