Suppose that I have an unused supply of a restricted material consisting of X posts. If I start another thread with another interested party of Y posts, under the same stipulation I obtained the supply of restricted material, in which said material would change hands, do the other party get a supply of X+Y posts or only Y?
Unless you are giving them what you got in the first thread, they only obtain what they participate in.

I would have to see the modification request first. Assuming you already have the thread handy, go ahead and post a modification request and I'll let you know when I can.

Boa MkI
Cobra MkI

They are both assult ships, and serve the same role, just one bigger than the other.
The thread would be to turn the ion torpedoes into plasma ones, for more shield cutting.

Suppose that I use AI as a restricted material for a component sub, with its attenant development.

Do I need additional development for using the component in a droid sub (unique/semi-unique if production matters)?

A
Artificial Intelligence (Non-Droid) (( Objective: A thesis must be written, either in a blog or over the course of a role-play thread, consisting of the concepts of your Artificial Intelligence’s design. Scientific journal excerpts from your character’s time spent designing the Artificial Intelligence must be included. Minimum 1000 words total. ))
Only non-droid uses of AI are restricted. If you're submitting a droid, which already have some form of AI, then there shouldn't be an issue - as long as it's just a droid.

Does Canon tech of cloaking require Dev?
When used in a factory submission, cloaking devices require development threads. Personal cloaking devices are also a restricted material and require special objectives to be completed in order to use them in a factory submission.
Personal Cloaking Device (( Objective : Complete a role-play without your character by only describing the scenery and actions of other characters from NPC perspectives without changing the course of the story directly. Ask for permission from the participants before engaging. ))

[member="Lily Kuhn"] The original component that had AI in it was designed for a much wider range of applications, such as ships (sub-100m ships to be exact) or power armor, hence the need for the 20 posts of dev writing a thesis, embedding paragraphs in each relevant post. (Limited production, pending second-chance)

Would a sub for a ship or a power armor equipped with that AI component also need development? If so, would I need to pursue the same objective for an application of the component as I needed for the component itself? (I know it would be limited at best)

The answer to your question can be found in our technology & vehicle templates.
General Rules for Technology

Here are the general rules and guidelines for Technology. Please also review the Factory Standardized Rules prior to making a submission.

1. Submissions which make use of base material submissions that utilize restricted materials will always require substantial development involving that restricted material. (i.e; Phrik Armorweave submissions will require development for utilization in future armor submissions)

2. Fully constructed lightsabers are restricted to a maximum of semi-unique production.

3. All companies utilized as manufacturers must be hyperlinked to their submission or canonical article.

4. The template's fields are not to be changed/removed/altered, additional information may be added but base fields may not be changed or removed.

5. Development threads must be ten posts or greater to be accepted in factory submissions.

6. Submissions & development threads should adhere to the established standards of development.

7. Work-in-Progress submissions are not permitted in the factory.

8. For Restricted items, standard development may grant between Unique and Limited production depending on the submission, with a maximum of Minor production following additional development.

9. All development threads that are hyperlinked in submissions must be cited as the full thread title, not an abbreviation.

What's the rules on Genetic modification?

its essentially a biological droid but do i have to class it as a species?
Is it sentient? Do you anticipate people roleplaying as it? While droids are not submitted as species - because they are not.. living - something which is alive in the literal sense, with beating heart and all that, but isn't used as "living weaponry" a la Yuuzhan Vong weapons and artillery (all of their weapons, armor, clothing, etc are alive) should be submitted as a species. If the idea is to make this into some kind of weapon (like, say, a bug that acts like a gun) then you can submit it here, but otherwise it would go in the Species section of the codex. I would suggest posting a submission there, first, and if the Codex feels it does not belong as a species we can have it moved to the Technology forum and adjusted to our template.

The only rule we currently have that would really involve genetic modification is our rule on nanotechnology - it is banned.
