Sia's Song | The Wedding of Zak Dymo & Sia Ike

THE PLANET
V O S S
VOSS-KA MOUNTAINS

The was a light mist as the sun began to settle behind the mountains.

The Jedi knight standing there, looking out into that wild frontier, was ever the same and yet ever changed. No longer a boy, the Nautolan had grown into a young man. He wore the formal attire he'd become familiar with during his time apprenticed to the countess of Rosedge. The green head-tails were loosely tied back, tailing over the shoulders and down the back of a resplendent white coat that was articulately decorated and accented in a vibrant red.

The curved handle of his lightsaber hung ceremoniously at his side, the hilt ornately wrapped in gold cord, with an intricate sword knot cinching the symbol of a Jedi Knight to the belt.

They had discussed a variety of places where they could have married. Exotic locales, places steeped in the rich history and tradition of the Jedi Order they had both sworn their lives to, or familial places. In the end, the simplest solution proved to be the one they could both agree upon. Voss was where they had met. A long, long time ago.

A tale as old as time. A story about a boy, who met a girl. And the two had been friends ever since.

They still were, and that was the best part.

Makai shivered slightly, unused to the cold air, especially in such an elevation. There were times he was on the Farm in winter and he and Ellie would ski or tromp around the grounds and surrounding village as the snow fell. Then again, he wore thermal underwear and a thick coat. His suit jacket and vest weren't cutting it. He was a boy made for the warm seas, not snow capped mountains.

Yet some spirit of the ocean remained with him, donning a fish printed bowtie instead of something boring. It may have clashed just slightly with his dark navy suit, but it went with the eyes....and besides, fish!

Breath came in little puffs as he and Ellie walked down the stone path to the actual wedding venue. The stones were slightly slippery and he took her hand, ready to keep her from falling. Not that he could probably be of any real help, having limited experience with ice and snow. It was the thought that counted.

"Feth, could it be any colder? Where's the beach? [member="Zak Dymo"] is like me, water dwelling. Would have thought we'd be standing in the middle of a beach right now." Another shiver. "You okay? Want my jacket?"

Sia would be in the ready room, this was the day she had been waiting for her whole life. She would look at herself in the mirror, her gown was so beautiful. The decision to marry Zak was the easiest one she had ever made. She would have had her gown hand made by the finest tailor in all of the galaxy. She would look back at her bridesmaids who would be making ready for the wedding. Her hair would be done the best she had ever had it done.

Théo would not miss this day for the galaxy, the irony too great to pass up witnessing. It had been some time since he had seen Zak or his surf buddy Makai having been pulled away to duty as Jedi and training and what not. But he would always had time to celebrate with friends. Their history had been a long one, dating back to when he was a toddler with Zak hot on his tail after the wayward child. Trouble followed them both no matter if they looked for it or not, still does it seems as the day had come for Zak to wed his love. Théo had not met her, so the curiosity is almost killing me, who was the lovely girl that had captured the heart of the heart that would never be captured?

He entered the platform on which the ceremony would take place, dressed for the occasion and sporting a smile wide across his face. Not the first to arrive, noting Zak at the far end looking most dapper in what appeared to be something regal, this was new to Théo as well and he realised much time had passed since they had the chance to talk. He realised he missed him, him and Makai.

Théo approached Zak and stood beside him, his hands folded behind his back and he too looked out over the vista laying before them. Cold indeed, it was a perfect day on Voss. "Hey", Théo shot a flashing look to Zak's profile. "Never thought you would be the first". He grinned.

There was a lot of buzz being generated and the petite woman had to admit that she was surprised and somewhat amused... Mostly shocked because she couldn't recall ever meeting the boy which was an important thing as in some fashion there was going to be a lot of Ike's here... like a lot.... like they had holographic projectors to attend if they were unable to and the hardlight droids able to project them into an area to interact if it was needed using the new display and communications system they had had been developing lots of new things. Katagiri herself was walking around and looked at the ones arriving as she stood in the more formal jedi robes with a nod of her head to them seeing ones she didn't really know but clasping her hands behind her back as the proud mother of the bride.

The clicking of high heeled shoes announced the presence of Valae Kitra. She grinned wide upon reaching the space designated for ceremony. It seemed that she had made a triumphant return to Voss, but had anyone noticed that she had been gone? She was no longer a meek padawan, Valae was now proud to say that she was a woman of the world – or rather, a woman of the galaxy. The brunette lingered towards the back, her chestnut eyes taking in the lovely view. Today she had traded in her brown robes for a fine dress, and her rugged boots for a pair of fancy shoes. Her wild hair had been tamed, and she had even dabbled with a bit of makeup.

After all, it was a special occasion.

She had been thrilled to receive an invitation to Zak’s wedding, but she had to admit that it had come as a surprise. Valae had also struggled with the crushing realization that Zak Dymo was getting married before she was. What was this galaxy coming to? Always the bridesmaid, never the bride – or in this case, not even a bridesmaid... only a guest.

Her eyes came to rest upon her Nautolan friend, she hardly recognized him. Valae would always have fond memories of the young boy she had met on her very first day at the Silver Temple – a day that seemed ages ago now. Her gaze narrowed just slightly. Oh my, was that little Théo? A man grown now, a sight that very much reminded her of her former master. How she missed him.

Valae began to amble towards the small gathering of men, attempting to make a graceful entrance, but promptly tripped over her own feet. Nice one, Val.

Kianna was most excited when Sia had asked her to be her bridesmaid. Sia was a wonderful person and Zak was a lucky man. When Ryn'Dhal contacted Kianna to be his padawan, she had met Sia within the same time and they became friends. As the bride and bridesmaids generally got ready in the same room, there was at least a bathroom to go into while they change into their dresses.

When Kianna came out, she wore a navy blue bridesmaid dress that was floor length, that was complete with hair that was similarly pulled up and heels that she wasn't exactly used to, but they were at least comfortable. She was used to dressing up some, but even though she was royal, it didn't happen much, so she found the best pair of fancy shoes she had and they matched the dress that was used as her bridesmaid dress.

"Sia? Do you need any help zipping or lacing up the back? Or did you already get that?"

she asked in a calm soft tone.

It's true what they say, time does fly. It seemed like yesterday that Zak was the little boy who got upset about using a green lightsaber in training. Now Nef was attending her padawan's wedding, and Zak had grown into a fine young man. In short, Nef was glad and excited to be here.

Of course, an occasion like this called for dressing up right. Focusing her social energy, Nef looked around for somebody to interact with.

"Actually help would be much appreciated." She would say turning around revealing her open back and the laces to go with it. Just then she had a flashback to their first kiss right here on this planet. Food was flying everywhere, they had been the two to start the food fight but just then instead of throwing food at Zak, Sia would have came close and kissed him. It was the best thing she had ever felt in her life. She would smile at this

As Sia would turn, Kianna came up behind her and started lacing up the back for her. She saw her smile and she smiled back. She was probably one of the most prettiest brides she had ever seen. Kianna was extatic to know that she was part of a wedding for such a perfect couple.

After she was finished lacing her dress up, she tied the remaining ribbon into a perfect bow. Then looking back up, seeing Sia in the mirror, she smiled.

"Sia, you are looking very beautiful. Zak is a very lucky man. I can't wait to see his reaction when he sees you for the first time."

She said, her smile growing the very slightest.

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel rarely did social events. It simply wasn’t part of who she was. But formal events she was more comfortable with – like funerals or state banquets, where she had a defined role to play as a Jedi. Here and now, as Jedi were so fond of saying, was an occasion that was on the cusp. A wedding. She knew Zak for sure but not his bride. So there was some comfort in being familiar with many present and she was glad there was no initial requirement to dance or engage in small talk – it was easy to focus on the wedding and manage her conversations accordingly.

So she joined the growing number of Jedi that were gathered here today and looked around for a familiar face or two to sit with.

Joza didn’t know [member="Sia Ike"] all that well, but she knew her father and knew her husband-to-be. So when she was asked to be a bridesmaid, she graciously accepted. Then, she realized that it was [member="Zak Dymo"] getting married and almost had a heart attack. Wasn’t it just yesterday that the Nautolan was drinking juice boxes and playing in the oceans of a planet they were exploring? Time certainly did fly, and it made her feel a bit old.

Making her way towards the room where Sia and her other bridesmaid were getting ready, Joza adjusted the fabric of her cobalt blue dress. It was the only thing she’d been able to find on such short notice that was of similar color, and even then the material stretched tightly around her stomach. Thankfully she hadn’t ballooned up yet, only just entering the second trimester of her pregnancy.

Entering the room, she gave both women a bright grin. “Sia! You look gorgeous. I’m sorry for being late, dear. Got a bit held up in the dressing department.” She rubbed a hand over her tummy, chuckling a little. “You need anything hun? Lipstick, false eyelashes, eyeshadow or blush touch-ups?” Holding up a small side-bag, she gestured to it. Ever the Zeltron, she’d brought her makeup kit along.

Turning towards [member="Kianna Auli'i"] , her smile softened. “Isn’t she just the prettiest thing? Zak had better appreciate having a girl like her around!!”

For the record, Théo looked completely ridiculous in that jacket.

...Zak totally approved.

"Sick threads, brah," the Nautolan cheered, a bright smile plastered across his face as he reached out to clap the Valkyri on the shoulder. He imagined that he looked rather ridiculous himself, being that this kind of formal wear wasn't Zak in the least. But it was a wedding, and this was meant to be Sia's day.

He could wear board shorts and flippy floppys at the honeymoon destination of a sleepy little resort on Arda. White sand beaches. Meiloorun daiquiris. Tropical sunsets. And that was just the world above the water!

Zak may have had a reply to the remark about being the first to marry, until a brunette walking into the wedding party caught his attention. Instead of responding, the Nautolan motioned for Théo to follow him.

Walking over to the lady, the Nautolan reached out to pull the woman into a hug. Which, was strange because the last time that Zak had given her a hug, he'd been about half her size. Now he stood an inch taller than she did. Turning back toward the Valkyri, Zak introduced the pair. "Théo, this is my master... Lady Nefertari Sovint of Chandrila, Countess of Rosedge."

Turning back toward the brunette, the Nautolan gestured to indicate the Valkyrie in the funky suit.

"Lord Théodred Heavenshield of Midvinter."

Yes, he actually knew how to act like he had some class.

Just don't get used to this.

A laugh issued from Théo from the comment made over his jacket, "The jacket is only second to yours", but wearing the jacket had been worth every credit to see his friend smile. This is a day for them both, bride and groom and people tend to forget that focusing all attention of the lovely lady that will grace them with her presences shortly. Or late as brides have a habit of doing.

However, Théo turned as Zak's attention was drawn to a lady that had arrived, walking with him, he soon discovered that the lady was indeed Zak's master and was formally introduced. Although this formal introduction had come from Zak, Théo was used to such things having dealings with the royal family of Midvinter of which he was part of. He bowed in respect to her, the Jedi way before his greeting, "Good day Lady Sovint, it is a pleasure to meet you".

Over the shoulder of the Lady Sovint, Théo noticed another approaching, someone he had not seen in a long time. [member="Valae Kitra"]. "Excuse me one moment, if you will". And just a Valae had tripped over her shoes, Théo reached for her hand to steady her. "Valae it is wonderful to see you again, it has been so long since Felucia", he grinned wide remembering their encounter with the Rancor. Looking about her to see if she had come with company, he suspected that like he, she had come alone. "It would be my pleasure to have the first dance with you at the reception if it pleases you". He smiled and kept her hand in his. "But first, come and say hello to Zak and Lady Sovint". And with gentle guidance Théo lead Valae to the waiting party.

and the delightful [member="Sia Ike"]

[member="Makai Dashiell"]

Myra Elspeth Korden Arceneau Kuhn was well used to the cold. Unlike her adoptive momma, the brunette had long since gotten used to the cold winters and the lengthy blizzards of Dromund Kaas after the cataclysmic event that sent it into an almost permanent winter. Bundled up, the teenager was all gangly arms and legs. Honestly, if one were to look at the Arceneau Kuhn heiress, one wouldn't really pick her out to be one. Her hair was in loose waves almost down to mid back, and her skin lightly tanned. She didn't wear much in the sense of anything designer like. Truth be told, were it not for the bright red gloves, she'd have easily been a wallflower amongst the crowd.

"I ain't the one freezin' my skin off, Makai Dashiell." the soft chide would drawl from the girl, her wide grey eyes swinging over to settle on the half Galan. She gave a cluck of her tongue, shaking her head.

"Here, take my scarf." she told him, already taking the soft grey length of fabric from around her neck. Were the Dashiell attempt to argue with her, he'd be met with a flat stare. Myra Elspeth wasn't the sort to have anyone hold any quarrel with her; much the less when she was fussin' over her best friend. The scarf would wrap round his neck, still warm from her skin and smelling like that lemon balm shampoo she used.

"I don't get it. Why would anyone get married young so quick?" she'd mutter, not really caring who would hear. Being afraid of eavesdroppers was never a concern for the girl. She'd done been taught by the Queen of Trade that if there is something to be said, one better just say it.

"Bet you it was cause she's a Jedi floozy." well she also wasn't one to cut any punches.

"Ain't no sense to get married this early 'less someone done gone put the idiotic thought in 'em."

Suddenly, she felt the grasp of a steady and strong hand upon her own; Valae looked up to see that [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] had come to the rescue, helping her to regain her balance before she could completely embarrass herself. A warm smile grew on her face, accompanied by a rosy flush. Indeed, their adventure on Felucia was far in the past now. Time had certainly changed Théo, he was far taller than she was now and he had the same strong build that his father did. Valae shuddered to think about how time had changed her, but deep down, she would always be that clumsy girl from the deserts of Tatooine.

“Oh, Théo!” Valae beamed, “It is so good to finally see you again.”

She let her hand remain in his grasp, and began to walk alongside Théo. For a moment, she let her gaze wander about the other guests. She spotted [member="Sorel Crieff"] and offered the dark-haired woman a friendly wave. Valae made a mental note to catch up with her later on. It was just then that she realized that Théo had mentioned dancing, her brown eyes went wide.

“Dance? That’s very kind of you to offer, but I’m not sure. I’m not very good.” She replied, with a good natured laugh. “But I suppose I could give it a try.”

Her attention shifted to the groom, [member="Zak Dymo"] looked different too. It was strange to see him standing there, looking so grown up. When she and Théo reached Zak and [member="Nefertari Sovint"], Valae offered a pleasant smile and a polite nod.

“You must be Lady Sovint,” she turned to the other woman, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

And then she looked to Zak, and couldn’t resist pulling the Nautolan into a brief hug.

“Zak, it’s been too long!” Valae released him and took a step back, “I’m so happy for you, this is an exciting day. Who’s the lucky lady, hmm?”

Sia would look at Joza and smile her trademark bright white single dimpled smile. "Actually lipstick and base touch up." She would say smiling at them both. "I don't look that good do I?"

And of course [member="Zak Dymo"]

Katagiri stayed there a little while longer, watching the others arrive when she raised her eyebrow. As the mother of the bridge she was taking in seeing the other people who had come to join the party and dind't know many of them.... well she recognized [member="Sorel Crieff"] as Matsu's padawan when she was walking over and smiled. "Knight Crieff you look even more lovely in person." She stood there while seeing all of them and looking for @Jericho... as the father of the bride though there was a thing of wanting for him to talk with this boy who was taking their child away. "Oh sorry I am Katagiri, Matsu is my half sister." She said it with a smile though when she was there and seeing all of the others. She was glad to see they were a popular couple.

Makai immediately protested [member="Myra Elspeth"] and her scarf. Really, he didn't need it. Although it did give him a certain look....It would be un-gentlemanly to simply take it! Even if Ellie was basking in the cool air. Made him feel slightly bad she had spent much of her childhood basking on beaches in the tropical sunshine with him. Must have been burning up the entire time!

"Thanks"

Listening to her little speech about marriages and age, a plan formulated in Makai's head. Waiting until she was finished, the teenage boy collected a solemn look about himself, turning to look at his best friend and schoolboy crush.

"You're serious?" A long pause. "So I should take the ring I got you back to the jewelers? Hope I can get a refund...its a custom setting." He shook his head, continuing to look as if the world had crashed around him. "I mean....really, you could have told me sooner...."

Hand left hers to run along his chest, feeling where his breast pocket was. Out came a small, metal box with some odd stampings on it. He showed it to Ellie before taking her hand again, stopping in the path to get down on one knee.

"Ellie, you've been my best friend since the day we met. I just have one question to ask you...."

Top flipped on the box, revealing small circular mints nestled among thin paper.

"....Mint?"

Boyish grin broke out on his face, looking up at Ellie from his one-knee position on the cold stone path.

Kianna turned around at the sound of the door opening and then she saw [member="Joza Perl"] and sighed as she realized she was another bridesmaid. She looked at her and smiled seeing that Joza was pregnant. Kianna then looked back to Sia as she questioned their opinions on how she looked.

"Sia, I can tell you. You look as beautiful as a princess.. and I know what one looks like.."

she giggled at the last part lightly, giving a small smile. Hearing Joza's reply to Kianna's, she smiled.

"Yes, she sure is. Like I was telling her a little bit before you came in, Zak is a very lucky man."

She responded.
