"When you can't sense something, you have to be smart." She smiled at him and drew her lightsaber to cut down the vines that Seszil couldn't get to in time. Granted, he had most of it covered, but they were coming from multiple angles - she had to protect her son so they could move forward. But she also knew he could protect himself.

Especially now that his body could manipulate fire a little.

"Sometimes, even I can't sense anything. The Dark Side clouds senses, and there are ways to hide your presence or even dampen or nullify the Force." She gestured to the vines, and Aris would definitely see how they were all slowly converging to one point somewhere.

A tall plant with teeth, currently still out of sight, but it was able to extend its vines quite far.

"Follow the vines, Aris. I'm right there with you."

Follow the vines.

Aris nodded once as he crouched. Seszil was already close, already ready to defend him even without him saying anything. And Valery was there, too. Mom would always keep him safe, that much he believed. So he ran. Rushed forward through the mess of vines as Seszil cut down any that got too close to him. He was focused only on one thing, the creature at the core. His fist came round, swinging down in a heavy blow to unleash the flame from his knuckles.

While Aris ran towards the source of the vines, he'd see one purple flash after another shooting passed him. Thorned vines were trying to bring him down from all sides, but those that weren't stopped by Seszil, were cut apart by his Mother. She had never been this fast around him, and never so deadly either. But in the jungles of New Cov, there was no other way — she wasn't going to let anything happen to her son.

This combined protection between Valery and Seszil gave the young Noble a path straight towards the root cause of their issues. A gigantic plant, with sharp teeth and flailing vines for arms.

A fist, augmented by fire, came around and slammed into its side, causing it to rip open while flames began to spread all along its skin. In nearly an instant, the deadly creature burned up, leaving Aris standing in its ashes. Valery stopped, tilted her head and looked at her son with a proud grin.

"Wow, your flames are very strong." She flourished her lightsaber blade and disengaged it to return the weapon to her belt. "Still liking the jungle?"

She paused...

"If so, how do you feel about camping here? Just to stay a bit longer with me."

White flame.

Aris stared in surprise at the white flame. He knew what that meant. It was hot. Much hotter than he expected to see. It was worrying. He frowned a little, glancing up to Valery as he stood among the ashes. The plant was one thing. Dangerous, threatening.

"I want to make sure I can control this. I want to stay."

While Aris frowned and seemed concerned, Valery's eyes had that sparkle to them. A dangerous sparkle, sure, but she wasn't going to ever let her kid hurt himself. Walking over, she leaned down, smiled, and patted him atop his head without messing his hair up this time, "We'll stay as long as we need to make you control it. But... go you!" her excitement bubbled over and she looked from her son to the dangerous plant he had burned.

"White flames, huh? That's really great, Aris! I don't think I could do that even if I tried." She wasn't jealous at all, but filled with pride that her son could do that.

Her boy.

"How do you feel about it? I wasn't expecting you to have to use it so soon already. But it's not making you too scared, I hope?"

Valery seemed really excited, which had Aris smile a little. But still, faced with the sheer destruction the flame had only made him somber. "I.. Am a little scared. I don't want to hurt someone. That fire burns really hot. It can hurt a lot of people if it's not controlled. I want to make sure it doesn't end up out of control."

Once she realized just how somber he was all of a sudden, Valery took both of his hands and pulled him closer, while she crouched down to look him in the eyes, "Heyy, sweetie," Valery began. She raised a hand up to tuck his silver locks away a little, and kept a very calm and comforting smile on her face. Just to create a feeling only a mother could.

"If there's anybody who can learn to control this, it's you. When I was your age, I wasn't even half as calm and collected. But now, after my own practice, I'm pretty good at it," she said with a chuckle, and this time, she did reach up to ruffle his hair.

"You can do it, too. I'm going to keep practicing with you, and I'll need you to trust me. Because as hot as that fire is, you won't burn me. I'll train with you." Valery finally held up her arms and spread them, just in case he wanted a hug. And well, she kind of wanted a hug as well.

She was still so proud.

After a moment, a quiet moment of contemplation, Aris smiled. He reached up to return the hug, nodding his head in understanding. "Okay. I believe you, mom. I'll train and make sure I can control it."

"That's my boy," she said before she wrapped her arms around him underneath his own, and stood up to lift him from the ground. Valery then leaned in closer and pressed a loud kiss against his cheek. None of his friends were here to see it, so she wasn't embarrassing him this time.

"Now, there's something I want to show you."

With Aris in her arms, and Seszil floating around them, she began walking back the way they came. The journey was luckily not too long, but as soon as they spotted some caves, she set him back down.

"There's something inside that cave that I want you to find."

There was still a little embarrassment. And a smile. As much as he wouldn't admit it it was nice to get a hug from mom like this. And a kiss on the cheek really just made him feel loved and happy. He did blink though, glanced back to where the cave was. Something to find? He wasn't the best at finding stuff, but.. Maybe he could. He glanced up to Seszil, who seemed to bob in agreement.

"Alright. I can do that. What am I looking for?"

He didn't need to tell her — she knew. The little smiles told her so much about how he felt, and so did the way he returned each and every hug. Maybe one day, just like his dad, he'd be a lot more open about how he felt. But... it could also just be because it was more embarrassing when it was his Mom smothering him with love and affection. That made her think for a moment, but not for too long.

She couldn't stop showing her love for him, even if she tried to be less clingy.

"You'll know it when you see it." She put him back down, patted him on his head, and allowed him to go inside alone with Seszil. The cave was a bit dark, though light from outside still managed to slip inside enough for him to see where he was walking. Inside, nothing really stood out to him at first — it looked old, the rocks were sharp and scattered, and the cave didn't even really go that deep. It was just one single chamber.

But deeper within, light reflected off of something.

Aris walked in rather cautiously, but he didn't hesitate. Nor was he afraid. Rather, he was kind of excited. Whatever it was that Valery wanted him to get, it had to be cool. He glanced briefly to Seszil, who floated ever close by, before looking around the chamber once they were in. And immedaitely felt kind of dissapointed. He half expected something as exciting as the plant creature from before.

But there wasn't anything he could se- Oh. He blinked before stepping over to the glint. Tilted his head as he reached down to pick it up. A lightsaber. He thumbed on the activation rather easily, staring at the flash of blue that formed. ".. Wo."

The very moment the blade ignited, the crystal within the hilt burst to life for the first time in thousands of years. Normally, no weapon would survive nearly this long, but the caves had provided shelter, and the weapon had been designed with materials meant to last. Well, except for the wooden parts — those were definitely rotten and could use some replacements. But there was likely more to its survival; a mystery untold. What mattered most right now, however, was the Kyber in the heart of it all.

A Kyber crystal that now sought connection with a new owner,

"Well, what do you think?" Valery's sudden voice asked from the entrance of the cave. "Do you think your Mom did a good job building her very first lightsaber all those years ago?"

Aris handled it carefully, as carefully as he could. The wood felt weird, almost petrified with how long it'd been here. Then he looked to Valery. Blinked in surprise before again staring at the lightsaber in his hands. It was his moms? It was hers? She cleared her throat before smiling, just a little. Then shut off the blade to hand it up to her. "It's lasted a really long time because of how you built it, so.. Yes. You did real good."

Valery chuckled at her son's response and reached for the hilt of the lightsaber, only to use both of her hands to curl his fingers around the hilt, "I want it to be yours, whether you decide to use it a lot or not," she told him with a warm smile. "I have my own lightsabers and I think it might serve you well." She patted him on the head and stood back up to look down at her son.

"Your sister saw a vision of the lightsaber being here. Which...I'm not sure how it did. But she also saw you using it, and I couldn't agree on a better owner of my very first lightsaber." She wasn't sure how much he cared for having it - he had Seszil, after all.

But her motherly side did like the idea of him having a weapon to keep close to him as well. Seszil was often flying ahead, and well, Seszil wasn't going to deflect blaster bolts, right?

Aris's eyes were once more flashing with excitement and wonderment. He stared at Valery as she spoke. This was going to be his? Vera saw him using it? He turned his eyes back to the old casing, letting his grip tighten for a moment. Yeah. "Yeah." He spoke at the same as the thought crossed his mind as a goofy looking grin formed on his face. Very much like his father, no less. "I'd really like that. Though I should probably fix it up, right?"

Valery couldn't help but chuckle at the familiar, goofy grin on his face. It had taken Kahlil a long time before he was at a point in his life where he could feel this kind of joy, and express it with silly grins and excited eyes. It felt amazing that in such a short time, Aris was already feeling so good, and so part of the family.

She never wanted him to feel anything else. He was her son, and that was never going to change.

"You could replace the wood, or try to restore it. But... that's up to you." She smiled and fixed up his hair a little after having messed it up so much. "It's your lightsaber now, so its maintenance is your responsibility. Of course, I will help you if you need it. I used to study with the Artisans to make lightsabers, you know," she stated just a little proudly.

"For now, what do you say about some training with me?"

"I don't know too much about lightsaber maintenance. They've taught us about how to handle the training sabers, but they haven't taught much more." Likely because it wasn't something they needed to learn yet. Until they earned their own, at least. But now he had one. Aris stared at the lightsaber in his grasp, smiling ever so faintly. He didn't even realize his hair was messed up, he was just so focused on having a real lightsaber.

He glanced up though, smiling again. Nodded. "Yeah. Yeah! Let's train together! Will I be using the lightsaber? .. I don't think it's really capable of being used, though."

"I have a whole book about lightsaber construction and maintenance that I'll give to you when we're back home," Valery said with a grin. "At first, I'll help you, but I'd like you to start learning so you can do it yourself. And... involve Vera, alright? I want you to have this lightsaber because her focus is very different. But you know her... she'll be a little jealous." Valery chuckled and patted him on the shoulder.

If he let his sister help with maintenance, and have her learn alongside him, she'd be very happy.

"You'll be using the lightsaber, yeah," Valery then said before she reached over and flicked one switch, "Now it's set to training power, so you don't accidentally hurt someone in training. It should work just fine — only the handle is a little rough. But if you want, I can also give you one of my lightsabers for this training session."

"Then we repair yours at home and use it later."

Aris frowned a little at that, glancing to the lightsaber again before looking back up towards mom. She was right, vera would be very jealous. And he didn't like that what so ever. "Why not have Vera have this? Why am I the one who has it? I already have Dad's sword with Seszil. .. I don't like this, mom. I don't wanna take everything."
