Question Tef's gone. You're now the Owner of Chaos. Besides firing all of Staff, what's your first moves?

Faith is the heroism of the intellect.
  1. Previously mentioned (Continuing to blame Gerwald Lechner )
  2. Free John Locke from Mechs and Spiders.
  3. Beg Tefka Tefka to come back (ran enough of these things, don't want the responsibility)
  4. Continue the site in much the same way the previous admins had, after all, it has gone incredibly well for so long. checks nose, nice and clean
  5. Bring back Anime playbys and avatars (sorry, but... yeah)
  6. Take a consensus on whether or not to allow canon character pics as playbys and avatars (I personally never liked it, but understand those who do. not just clone, Death, Dark, and Stormtroopers, but like Luke Skywalker)
  7. Keep the freedom of choosing whether your character is Force Sensitive or not, but have an admin "roll" to decide the level. (Not to limit people playing them, but to challenge just how creative they can be.)
  8. Let the factions stay the way they are, and the map stays the same but gives each minor faction one, and each major faction 2 "heroes" let them decide who gets this.
  9. Host a "Monkey Dance" party once a week just to drive Tegan Starfall nuts.
  10. Post a thread asking players what they would do if I was gone and they ran Chaos.

Forgot!

11. Increase the number of memes tenfold!

Have a dedicated PR person on staff
  • Optics matter when dealing with the community. There should be someone whose job it is to say "okay, this looks bad, let's figure out how to fix it." By and large, actual corruption and cliquishness aren't nearly as much a problem as the perception of them. If too many members of staff come from a particular faction while one that said faction is beefing with is underrepresented, it's gonna look sus. Have someone on staff who can recognize that and take steps to mitigate potential issues before they arise, and to handle damage control when they do.

Hypothetically speaking, if I knew the owner, I would imagine he’d say:

1. he doesn’t care about optics
2. He simultaneously cares about staff members displaying bias but
3. Doesnt give two shakes about Staff representing your imaginary colors equally, map game =\= site staff
4. We have had HR/PR roles but the damage control is unsustainable due to Tef always running his fat cankly mouf

Well. If he were here, I imagine I'd point out that he doesn't have to care about optics if he hired someone to care for him. Preferably someone who's willing to tape his cankles shut and lock him in a closet until the fires have gone out. Buuuut he's not here, so I can't really tell him that. All that's left for a robot space ninja to do is dream.

Why is this image of the Bryn as PR in my head?

The unbiased equality of my uncaring towards all of you has never been more profound as it is today.

Besides, “take PR lessons from Rusty” is...well, read that a couple of times and think on it. I might as well be asking Penny, Lucien Dooku, or the Bryn’adul.

Hey, I never said hire me. I might be the one person on here who'd be as bad at the job as you are.

For the lolz;

Firstly, I’d change the way that factions chose mandates. There’s a small list of what mandates seem popular, as they’re the “go-to” selection, so why not throw a wrench in the mix for kicks and giggles? By that, I mean disallow duplicate options - so only one faction can hold one mandate at a time.

Not only would that see a plethora of mandates get chosen, albeit by force, but imagine the amount of communication and collaboration that’d happen behind the scenes? All the hex trading to get the mandate that best suits their faction? Mhmmm. Suffering. So delicious.

Secondly, I’d lower the number of dominions required to trigger a Rebellion to one. They’re barely used as is, and this way - it’d be a more logical representation of a faction taking over an entire sector in space. Not everyone’s gonna be happy that their planet was brought into the fold via a speed dating simulator. So, why not fight for it instead?

Thirdly, Dominions. Let’s make them Skirmishes instead, so you’d have to fight other factions to gain the territory instead of passively gaining the hex through shitposting. To make things even spicier, let’s say that the Dom opposition takes the IC cake… why not let them have the hex instead of the people that launched the dom? #MiniInvasions #DistantFactionColonies #MinorFactionsBecomingMajor, etc.

From there, let’s fire all the Codex and Factory staff. I’m sure they’re tired of judging countless component submissions and army units anyways. Then, I’d turn the place into a repository, where folks would take the templates and flesh them out how they saw fit. Sure, that’ll lead to a bunch of people crying foul in the comments because I made some NotSuperweapon, but in the end - does it matter? My character can’t die unless I say so, and trinkets and armies don’t win combat threads when the story’s being judged.

So, what’s the point in trying to balance things - when it’s the unregulated stuff that breaks the game anyways. I’m looking at you Space Wizards, and your ability to teleport entire fleets without breaking a sweat. Or the number of times people have broken into the Netherworld or performed some planet-killing ritual.

We get it, you love your power fantasies. Sheesh.

After that? I’d lock propaganda articles behind a paywall. Wanna post up an image with a filter and try advertising your faction? Gotta pay them posting dues to keep the lights on.
