Armament:

Now it was the Butcher King's turn to feel a dark sense of elation as his fist connected soundly with Korr's face, shattering the right cheekbone and pulping flesh with a resounding meaty crunch. Dark eyes watched as the Grandmaster fell to his knees from the blow, but he would not yet yield despite the blood that flowed from his mashed face like water from a burst dam. Again, Vornskr could only admire the man's tenacity and unwillingness to give up in the face of total overwhelming adversity, but in the end none of that would amount to nothing as the worms gnawed at his grotesquely misshapen body after the Sith Lord was done putting it through the paces.

Yet even as he relished in the pain inflicted by his own hand, he could not help but shudder as the pain of his intestines being cauterized and severed by the Grandmaster's blade twisting in his gut finally caught up to his senses. Luckily he wouldn't bleed out from it, but it was still a wound that he could not afford to dilly dally around with. He had to finish this fight quickly, patch himself up to the best of his ability, and continue on with his purpose. So he casually lifted up his right leg and let loose a kick aimed to collide with Korr's breastplate and send the Jedi Master rolling and careening back away from the Sith Lord's immediate vicinity to give himself some breathing room.

"You fight well, for vermin." he bellowed as he tore free the lightsaber embedded in his gut, the beam flickering for but a moment before fizzling out into nothing as the amount of energy used to actually sear through the thick phrik plating finally took its toll on the power source. With the strength allotted to him by his mystical shuk'oroks he attempted to crush the hilt of the drained lightsaber before callously tossing it aside like trash. "But I'm done with these games, it's time for you to die." He activated the one blade that wasn't shorted out earlier by the cortosis weave and started to make his charge towards the Jedi Grandmaster, each powerful booming step giving him speed and momentum and light a freight car he bore down upon the Jedi Master with unrelenting furry, intent to carve out his heart and hold it up for all to see.

[ How about something with a bit more... bounce to it?]

Micah chirped out, a half grin on his face as Alex switched the music to a genre with a bit more bass and quicker beat.

[ Acceptable? ]

Ahh yes, Painted black.

[ Good times. ] he said, pleased.

He couldn't help the few seconds of air guitar, fingers strumming at a faux strum of strings.

[ I see a red door and I want it painted black. ]

Head bobbing to the music, a rhythmic bop to his step, the Talith shot forward. Stuns shoved from the Talith, crackling to paralyze and to knock the men out. Nothing lethal; not that he wouldn't cross the line if he had to. He was his father's son. While he may have been trained with respect to his mother's Jedi teachings, it didn't mean he wouldn't revert to deadly force if he had to.

[ No colors anymore, I want them to turn black. ]

Rare flashes of cerulean would crack to and fro. If one could imagine him a student of Teräs Käsi, this was it, with as how quick as a Jeco his hands shot out, his HUD allowing him to utilize the sensors therein to spot them. A few grunts came, bodies freezing in place only to twitch like marionettes. A few stiffened up, much like frozen womprats after being tazored by a Moph stunner.

[ I see the girls walk by, dressed in their summer clothes. ]

Cryo. Micah's voice would echo. A flick of his thumb and then the deployment of a cryoban darted to three of the guards. It exploded, spraying a flash of ice and freezing two in place. One got lucky; a volley of blaster fire struck blindly, managing to strike at Micah right on his chest. It struck right through the Cloak of Aatrox and on the song steel plates of his armor and burning out. He gave a grunt, dropping back a bit only to steady himself.

[ I have to turn my head until my darkness goes. ]

[ Alright then, let's dance. ] He murmured to himself, still rather quite jovial. The amusement never left the Talith it seemed, even now. That flash orange bloomed anew, identifying himself and distracting all others from [member="Vexen"] so she could move. It sent a sphere of bright orange around the room, and everyone focused fired. He intercepted the next blaster shot that came his way and batted it back towards the trooper. It struck the man in the helmet and caromed off, burning out against the bulkhead. The soldier fell, the shot not fatal, but he would suffer a scalp burn and most likely a concussion.

[ I see a red door and I want it painted black. ]

A flurry of bolts met the distinctive zap of a lightsaber blade intercepting it, then deflecting it. Micah sped up. With the flow of the Force, the Talith came closing in. A sudden extinguish of his blade via trakata, then the sudden jab and thrust of powerful stuns.

Enemy: The One Sith
Equipment: T-70 X-Wing Fighter

Tensions were running high aboard the fleet. They had been chasing the Sith fleet for how long, back and forth. This was his job and Lochlan was a professional, but there was something about gearing up mentally for a battle that got called off at the last second over and over again, that felt exhausting and draining. This despite there technically being no action. This time, however, it was no drill, no feigned engagement before the One Sith fleet hopped away into hyperspace. This time the enemy was waiting for them. Officially, this would be the first mission Lochlan partook in as a member of Rogue Squadron. He was the new kid on the block with something to prove. Not blowing up his X-Wing the first day would be fantastic.

Klaxons sounded, orders were given. The battle begun. The T-70 was different from what he was used to flying. Naturally he had done his homework, done the drills, and he was combat ready, but it had taken some getting used to. His overall impression of the vessel was positive though, he appreciated its speed and manoeuvrability. The hangars opened and starfighters from both sides of the battlefield flooded out into space. To him only one squadron mattered, and that was Rogue Squadron. This would be a big battle, with too much going on to keep track of it all. He told himself that as long as he followed Rogue One's lead and stuck to his wingman, everything would be okay. Lochlan's X-Wing set out into open space, its pilot knowing he might die today.

The torrent of lasers that met him was intense. This was definitely the biggest battle he had taken part of. Looking down the bulk of the One Sith armada, it certainly felt as such. There would be many engagements and clashes before this day was over. Witnessing the sheer scope of it all, he even had his doubts that a day would be sufficient to reach a decisive conclusion to the battle. When the first wave of starfighters came upon them, Lochlan kept his head cool and his ship steady. There were no fancy moves, simply a slight tilt as he opened fire. The trick became spinning out of the wave as the flaming hull of the ship he blasted open came crashing towards him at an alarming pace.

The battle raged on. Eventually, the message would chime into his comm from Rogue One and Nine about the enemy destroyer deploying a fresh wave of fighters. "This is Rogue Two, copy that Rogue One." Lochlan replied, opening communication, keeping it professional. He redirected the arc of his ship to take up position alongside Rogue Nine and behind Rogue One. His systems were locking on, his hands tensing around the handle, hovering just slightly above the trigger. When the signal came he unleashed what he had against the shuttles.

Shortly thereafter the order came for the Rogues to form up, in preparation for a striking run against the Mynock. Again Lochlan's voice chimed in over their comms with a voice that tried to stay as calm and clear as possible, despite the rush of adrenaline washing over him "This is Rogue Two, will comply." Tension was again rising as Rogue Nine communicated with the shuttles. Meanwhile Lochlan brought his T-70 back into formation, close to Rogue One and Nine. So far he hadn't done much. But this wasn't about doing much, this was about showing up, being present and ready to execute the coming orders with lethal precision.

The guards were careful with their blasters, fearful of striking the very machinery the pair had come to destroy. Vexen moved slowly, carefully. The large engineering bay, which housed some critical reactor components, was like a late night light show. Each shot bathed the room in a seedy red glow, leaving an afterimage seared into the retina.

A bright blue flash. A bright arc. The silhouette of the wraith swinging upwards. A groan and the sound of armour clattering to the ground.

A second flash. A straight blue-white line. A faint silhouette hung in mid air falling. A startled cry.

A final flash. One light lancing straight across the breadth of the chamber. The wraith this time highlighted by a second flare of swinging around. Two cries. Silence fell.

“Anyone still standing?” a faint voice called out.

Someone groaned.

“I've got it,” Vexen said offhandedly.

daredevil-102-flipkick.gif

A flutter, a thump, a job completed. “Anyone else?”

Silence. The Force informed Vexen that there job was done anyway. It wouldn't be long before more guards arrived now. Even if no one had made a report alarms would have been triggered by blaster fire in such a sensitive area.

“Where am I shooting and where am I putting charges?” Vexen called. Micah followed his outstretched armed and put a blaster bolt through a piece of machinery. There was a low groan that resonated through the entire sector of the ship. Someone should have stopped them before they reached this section of the reactor.

“Copy that Rogue One. I'm picking up some odd fluctuations on the power grid of that carrier,” Asmus replied, holding formation.

“Roger. I've got three TIEs at nine and plus thirty. Two, Nine break off and intercept whilst I stick with the bombers,” Rogue One replied.

Asmus turned to his display. “I've got them. Two drop in behind me after a delay. Let me pull focus then cut across them.”

Asmus took full advantage of the manoeuvrability of his vessel. He cut power to the engines and allowed his fighter to drift. Then he twitched the controls to turn in ninety degrees and accelerated hard. His engines must have flared up on the displays of those fighters as they all reacted and altered course.

Asmus accelerated in hard, coming in low. He pulled up his nose and fired a burst from his rotary cannon at extreme range before once again changing direction and diving suddenly. Green bolts followed his turn, grazing his shields. One shot cut through and hit the hull. Fortunately the self-reparing cells sealed the gap with laminamium.

“Come on Two,” he grunted to himself as he duked to his right, with TIEs closing in.

It was war.

Vaet hadn’t thought to see it so soon again after Lujo. His life turned out to be less exciting than he had first anticipated when joining the Alliance and their struggle against the One Sith. A life mostly spend attending to [member="Avalore Eden"] and [member="Meeristali Peradun"]’s children, meditating with [member="Relit Vandal"] in the gardens and generally just watching over the plant and wildlife around their home.

Part of him was surprised how much he missed it.

It contrasted his desire to be the change in the Galaxy.

But he did miss it. The two boys, the shimmering trees and grass, the beasts of burden. It was more peaceful than this ragtagged run in between enemies and allies. People dying and he could sense them.

The pain was kept at bay, if barely.

While Canal shot plasma bolts towards their enemies Vaet skidded in between the Sith troopers, his walking stick dashing out from his frame and hitting heads, legs, arms and whatever else was in range. He did not like killing other sentient beings, so he tried to avoid it as much as possible.

Soon enough they rushed past the enemies and ended up in one of the shuttles. Canal was taking charge of the situation - maybe he instinctively grasped the mental duress the little Vaetling was in from being so close to the suffering and death of those nearby, or maybe it came natural to him to assume a leadership position.

Whichever it was, the Jedi did not mind one bit at this junction.

Instead he gratefully took advantage of the lull in the moment to come to terms with all that had transpired a few moments ago.

"Copy that, Rogue One" Lochlan replied when he and Nine were asking to break off to intercept the incoming TIEs. "I'm with you Nine" he confirmed, letting Asmus draw their attention and fire first. Those Eyeballs didn't stand a chance. Timing would be key here. Too soon and the enemy fighters could split and keep him from helping out Asmus. Too late, and well... Rogue Squadron would have another opening.

He watched as Asmus cut power and drifted through space, before redirecting and powering away. Instantly the TIEs recognised the threat and were on him. Not yet, he thought. At the moment it still looked like he and One were going after the bombers. Not yet... Now!

Aedan pulled hard the stick, breaking his snubfighter away from Rogue One and in pursuit of Rogue Nine and company. It was not a moment too soon, for they were already hot on Asmus. Aedan saw the flashes of green blaring against his fellow Rogue's X-Wing, and from his perspective it looked like they were getting dangerously close. The one advantage Aedan had was they had yet to realize he had broken off, all of their attention seemingly on Asmus. This gave him time to angle up his shoot, but at the same time the longer he took the more danger he put the other Rogue in.

Come on, Two

Aedan was latching on, coming in on one of the Eyeballs at zero angle. There wasn't any hesitation now. He lined up the enemy and let the T-70 roar with its laser cannons, making short work of the TIE. Not waiting to confirm the kill, he knew he had the shot, Aedan was already tilting to the side and pulling up on his stick, floating sideways to try to catch a second TIE in his crosshairs. Now it knew he was coming however and started to break off, while the third stayed hot on Asmus.

His targeting computer did its work, locking onto its mark. Aedan opened fire, coming up just short of the enemy TIE. It tried to pull up, but he was coming in from above and managed to angle his nose so that the enemy fighter worked with him. Its shields were getting torn up and fast. Recognizing the danger it twisted away, but Aedan was on it. After another few rounds of red, he could announce: "That's two down, Rogue Nine. Last Eyeball still on you."

Aedan turned back in pursuit of Asmus and his travel buddy, but his last mark had had him drift off course. The last TIE might retreat at this point, or stay on Asmus. In any case, caught between two Rogues, its life expectancy seemed far from promising.

Crystal was pleased that her efforts to break through his mental walls were successful. Sure, the amount of thoughts were overwhelming when you dove in head first, but, it certainly was not Crystal’s first time. At present, she didn’t have time to make sense of all of the images and thoughts that she invaded on. She heard his words, but didn’t bother to retort. She was still being shot at after all. His mental push caught her off guard momentarily, but the little hairs on the back of her neck prompted a response to the impending rounds.

The rounds began again, but with fewer marines shooting at them. However, the odds weren’t quite in their favour yet. Cameron’s speed made their job much more difficult and gave her the opportunity to release a sphere of kinetic energy and hurl it at the hull. The sphere had exponentially more energy behind it than the pellets that were presently whizzing around, and would rupture the hull.

Perhaps the vacuum of space would invite their guests and accompanying personnel to its cold depths. Perhaps not. But, it was a solid plan to tilt the odds in their favor. Crystal rooted herself to the deck as she waited for the rupture to seal itself and restore pressure.

The Sorceress too had taken a pellet, right in the rear end. Her hand brushed against the wound and she observed blood on her fingers. Her lips curled into a sneer. Now it was on. Her lightsaber, that had been resting at the small of her back, was called to her hand and the snap hiss revealed a magenta blade.

Aeron's heart pounded adrenaline through her veins, giving her a blood rush like she never felt before. An armored boot struck a cheekbone and resulted in a blossom of fire; a resonating crunch that could make anyone curl their lip back and bare their teeth in grimace. Her head viciously went snapping to the side, pain pulsing hot as metallic copper filled her mouth and came flowing from her nose. It was now broken, twisted an unnatural angle to the left.

A curse went snarling through blood stained teeth, bared as she rounded back. More thick crimson dribbled down her mouth and along her chin, a quick slide of the back of her hand smearing the sanguine stain from mouth to right cheek. The left was raw, brutally cut from where it lay lacerated to the corner of her mouth. A half Tantorus smile in its place.

Bodies collided, her back thrust against the wall. Remember those shattered ribs? Yeah, so did Aeron. A grunt and blood spat out in a thick glob against his chest. The clatter of her disc-blade upon the floor. Muscles flexed, legs like pistons braced, and her hands grabbed hold where they could. Ice blue eyes flared and she drew her chin up in challenge met. Die well?

Oh, you better believe it.

"As long as you put out, pretty boy." she spat out, bloodstained teeth a bright pink as she snorted out blood. With a surge, she suddenly jerked hard with the Force to throw him to her right onto the floor and against the wall. He may drop the frag. He may not. Either way, she had a few seconds once released. In between that, she was going to smack the ever living poodoo out of this karking bucket head if it was the last thing she did.

Bring on the pain baby... bring on the pain.

Alliance forces were battling to retain their positions and secure others. It was a fight that would not end soon. Klaxon blared and reinforcements were made on all sensitive areas. Those in the bridge took on defensive positions, while others in the reactor, engineering, weapons deck, and by the life systems secured their perimeter. No one was going down without a fight.

“Good work Two. You know, not perfect, but good work. When I call break port,” Asmus replied. He continued to apply lateral thrust to try and shake off his tail to no avail. His hand moved to the thrust controls.

“Now.”

Once again he reversed the thrust on the starboard engines. His craft turned about to face the tail in half a second. Another flick and all engines fired forwards. He could actually see the TIE pilot illuminated in his cockpit.

Fractions of seconds between life and death. Asmus pulled the trigger first. The stream of laser fire tore the centre of the TIE apart, but left the overall structure remarkably intact. The pair of hexagonal solar collectors sailed on without their pilot.

“We've got more red tracks heading for the bombers!” Rogue One called.

[ Roger, Rogue Eleven! ]

By then, the cross hairs had given a beep of confirmation. Much like [member="Chloe Blake"] and others had taught her before, Choli would focus with all her might. Sweat rolled down her cheeks and into the liner of her helmet. Beyond the yellow tinted goggles, the young snubfighter pilot flicked the proton torpedo safety cap off with her thumb.

Here we go.

The Phasma Class infiltrator was increadibly fast and increadibly hard to detect in stealth. However, the trade-off for these systems was that it was lightly armed, and that both its armor and shields were minimal due to the draw of power by the stealth systems. If anything, here was its reckoning.

A hitch of breath and Choli hit that button.

The proton torpedo shot out, the blast of its propeller following a second ignition as one shortly followed after it. Two torpedos went flying straight at the Phasma Class Infiltrator, homing in on its location.

The heavy boot crashed into Ryan’s armored chest in a push kick that sent him sprawling onto his back. He grunted and reacted from muscle memory, turning the fall into a backward somersault, momentum carrying him to his feet. Blinking, he staggered back another step before finding his footing.

The passageway spun, but through the disoriented haze of tears and sweat, Ryan watched the Iron Tyrant rip the longhandled saber from his gut and squeeze on the hilt until metal squealed and sparked. The blade stuttered before fading to nothing. Zambrano tossed aside the hilt contemptuously.

Fresh waves of pain shoot through broken molars as Ryan clenched his jaw. Drawing deep on the Force, the Jedi dulled the nerves to a bearable level. Head clearing, the room stopped spinning. His left hand found what it’d been searching for and unclipped the shoto from his belt. He held it up before him and the cerulean blade snapped to life just in time to catch the Tyrant’s charging blow.

The crimson saber fizzled, locked inches away from Ryan’s face, filling his nostrils with the scent of ozone. Hot sweat dribbled into the cut on his face and left it stinging. The scar-kissed Vahla’s normally stony features twisted, lips curling in a wordless snarl.

How many Jedi had this man killed? How many more had he tortured?

If I fail, how many more will die by his hand, when I could have stopped him?

Ryan had failed too many times before. Failed to save the Temple on Coruscant. Failed to turn Quinn to the Light. Couldn’t even get his own Order to see reason when the Republic turned to corruption and villainy. Too weak, because he denied his nature, because he did not confront the darkness within himself.

The ever-storm in his heart flashed triumphant , a brooding menace threatening to overwhelm him with all those memories of suffering and anguish. How could the galaxy be destined for good, when all Ryan had ever known was loss? How could the Force be benevolent, when it had only given him heartache? What was the destiny of man if not to suffer? Futile lives led on meaningless planets. Trillions of beings eking out a miserable existence in a galaxy that cared nothing for them. Thousands of years spent advancing science and medicine, but still the horsemen rode on. Poverty, Famine, and War grinning, the vanguard that led the charge, heedless of men, women and children caught underfoot. Death drifting behind, reaping the luckless trampled beneath the hooves.

And this ‘Force’ that guided them all, what was it supposed to do, stop the conflict? Jedi and Sith had been at war for millennia, wiping each other out and a good chunk of the galaxy with them. What had it benefitted either side? Madness. If he only reached out, if he grasped the darkness and took its power, then he would be able to reach out and realign the planets in their proper course. Enough might to obliterate this pathetic Sith worm who’d probably grown up the son of a noble and led a life more lavish than most could ever dream. What could a man who had always had everything truly say he’d lost? This whining dog had never known true suffering, had never had what he loved most snatched from him by fate.

But I was forged in flame, watered with the blood of my friends. Does he wake up hearing their screaming in the night?

The ever-storm crackled and a lightning strike of hate flared in the confines of Ryan’s chest, hot imprisoned fury, begging for release.

I do.

All he had to do was reach out and seize that visceral rage, use it to smite Zambrano into the ground. Almost everyone he’d known had fallen to the Dark Side, or perished because they were not strong enough to resist those who wielded its power.

Why shouldn’t I? If anyone deserves that power it should be me.

He stared scornfully through the sparks shooting from their locked sabers at the man who towered above him, helmet a faceless visage inspiring the imagination to dream of a nightmarish face.

It would be so easy. So utterly simple. Death was like that. One moment she was a living, breathing being standing at his side, the next he was on his knees in the mud, holding her corpse as the Ossus rains poured down, the lifeless body so very cold in his arms.

She’d died fighting Sith. Would he now become one of them? Just another butcher on a long list...

No.

He knew what he fought for and why. Not to realign the stars. Not to seize power for himself, for he would be as broken as any of them. He fought to keep evil at bay. Evil would always exist, but that didn’t mean he should give in to the tyranny of oppression. There was a beauty in the struggle, a reflection of what hid in the hearts of all people. The capacity for violent and cruel acts, a darkness that lurked inside his own heart. He couldn’t purge away that filth, couldn’t achieve perfection. He could only acknowledge what he was and struggle to do better, hoping to find some small measure of peace.

This is the way of acceptance.

At the right opportunity, he found an opening within the fray and took it, playing a hard game of evasion with the scattergun fire, and catching his own share of pellets in the process across the arms and shoulders of his armor, some narrowly grazing his noggin at the crown of his head; more to add to the collection started by a hydrastaff, way back on Manaan. He mocked going down within a short distance of the droids, but was never slowed, coasting past them and rolling to his feet to send a driving blast at the rear of the pair before heading on his not-so-merry way with the Marshall, deeper into the trap.

Consoles sparked and crumbled from a simple, somewhat precise flick of his commander's 'sabre, and the large Felacatian slipped into the secondary bridge alongside him. Citric eyes peered into the contrast, searching a second along with his naturally-heightened senses of smell and hearing, until he hit the jackpot - he'd found the fether, and reacted without delay, plunging forward impossibly faster than a blink, sending jackhammering fists to Erebos' midsection... to start with.

The Sith Lord was silent for several moments, content to return his gaze to [member="Aela Talith"] and keep it focused on the young woman. It had been...years since he'd seen Aela, and Cameron scarcely recognized the adult standing before him, leading others into the fray. A part of the dark-skinned Sith threatened to swell with pride, but he had no real reason to take any. His participation in the youth of the Talith children had been largely infrequent and mostly centered around exposing them to the ways and beliefs of the Sith. That was sprinkled with the occasional, infrequent physical training sessions which a number of them loved...to hate.

Lowering the invisible barrier that had surrounded his presence, Cameron exhaled softly. "Well I was eating food, but it's obviously wrong place, wrong time whenever I have business to conduct with the One Sith." The Sith Lord waved his free hand dismissively as he slowly walked towards Aela. "Oh? Well I suppose you'll likely be wanting to leave in rather short order then as well."

Glancing to the console behind Aela for a moment, Cameron intoned a brief inquiry. "Care to tell me why?" Whether or not some kind of action that would encourage him to hasten his departure was pending was rather irrelevant to the Sith Lord. As he had those many years ago and recently on Karfeddion with [member="Micah Talith"], Cameron had every intention of making Aela work for her escape.

Though...just like Micah, he probably would take action to keep any truly lasting harm from befalling her.

Enemy: The One Sith

In the blink of an eye, the landscape of a battlefield could change in ways that were never imagined. As my wingmates had broken off the escort formation to pursue other targets of opportunity, I had elected to remain with Green Group as we swung around to rejoin Rogue Squadron and their newly assigned subordinates of Claymore Flight. Covered by the guns of our Flagship, the K-wing heavy assault Starfighters and I banked through the visceral chaos of void-based combat, and dived into a lower plane to skirt underneath the ashen wreckage of several troop transports, bored through by the amassed firepower brought to bear. In passing through the silence of their unmarked graves, I felt my skin prickle ever so slightly as the sheer raw sensations of their death echoed through the Aether, clawing at my mind with their discordant screams. How enticing! They died through various means, and from what I could see, most were atomized within their armor and scattered upon the solar winds. At least they died as feral dogs should, roaring in agony as the molecular bonds that held themselves together shook apart. Allowing that thought to pass through my mind, I felt my pallid lips curl into a sinister smile. The others that were arrayed before them would get what was coming, and being able to bear witness to it all firsthand? That would be a sensational sight to see.

Guiding my vessel free of the minuscule patch of human debris, I ordered my BB-unit to recalculate our projected trajectory to align our course with the first objective we had chosen to go after before the re-taskings had taken place. The Hungering Mynock, a Wyrrlock-Class Star Destroyer that had seemingly remained untouched by the staccato of cannon-fire throughout the engagement. Sure, there had to have been several - if not minor breaches in the hull by now, where Alliance Boarding Party's had made their beachheads, but nothing truly everlasting. The shields would envelop their man-made chasms, and trap them aboard the craft until they had perished due to attrition, or had managed to overpower the enemy defenders and capture the Carrier. While I hoped that the latter had proven correct, with the endless stream of obsidian specks pouring out from it's illuminated hangar bay - I was lead to believe otherwise. They were still likely laying down their lives to end the threat of the One Sith aboard that vessel, and it didn't seem right that they were the only ones to do so. Thus, as my course corrections came to life before my violet eyes, I throttled my ion drives to maximum combat speed and felt the acceleration ripple through my enthroned figure.

With my fingers grasping the control yoke and holding my course steady, I keyed my comms and signaled Rogue Leader, informing him of the successful attack on the Sith Assault Ships that sought to befoul the Aegis, and that the remaining K-wings of Green Group would be following his lead towards the Mynock. Once my report was complete, the Zabrak had ordered me to cover the assault bombers as they made their attack runs against the generator housing. With the schematics garnered from previous encounters with the One Sith, they had believed that the Shield generator and the primary deflector array's were affixed to the ventral surface of the Destroyer, but were protected with several inches of thick hull plates. The payload of the fighters I was escorting would prove useful in busting through the shields, so Claymore Squadron could move in and finish the fight with a thunderous bombing run. Signaling my understanding, I terminated my connection to the squadron level communications and switched my channel over towards a localized and encrypted broadcast.

:: New orders Green Leader, Take your wing and hit that Wyrrlock Carrier where it hurts. Rogue One wants that shield gone before Claymore Squadron can move in. I'll stay on as your escort, but be alert - there's more Sith fighters out that way. ::

His response was almost instantaneous, a vast improvement over the last time he had relayed his communique.

:: Copy that Rogue Twelve, All Units form up for an attack run, cycle up your tertiary engines and wait for my mark. We'll only have one chance at this boys, so make your T-33's count. ::

Flicking my thumb across the top of the X-wing's control yoke, I re-cycled my Fighter's weapons and armed two of the underslung proton torpedoes. Armed to the teeth, I let my smile ravage my lower jaw and curl into a serpentine grin. Enshrouded within the silence of my cockpit, I let loose an insidious bark of laughter as I dove back into the fray - seeking to punch yet another hole through the enemy lines to rejoin the rest of my Squadron. In the back of my mind, whilst my fingers danced across the various terminals implanted before me, I knew that the others would see me as an animal, who always bared his fangs when battle fell upon him. Let them think that; I told myself as my cannons atomized another enemy fighter, Let them see another side of me - one that isn't afraid to court Death's cold embrace and laugh as she worms her way through my flesh.

Matthew moving with a trademark speed to almost blur, reaching their bomb on 2..1..0, the detonator went off, most of the blast sent toward the wall intending to breach. That day the bridge crew and perhaps the carrier itself were saved by the quick thinking of one young medic, an unsung hero, who perhaps only got a covering of dust on his face for thanks! Did he stop the force of the gas? Yes but where was that oxygen sapping gas going to go now?! Could he hold the bubble, the gas, and for how long? Alone and left holding the proverbial loaded gun, they were questions soon to be answered in the maintenance tunnel and perhaps outside of it in the corridor!

Grenade dropped harmlessly somewhere half between them, it rolled around undetonated, showing the choices made by all three. Kylath crunching hard against the wall, and floor, karked off TK Master style. The armor took a lot of it bending in at the back, the body the rest, fracture to the right collarbone a hell of a sting. “Princess, you wouldn’t last an hour.” His back feeling the strain(s) along his physique, body rolled alongside the wall as it was.

Left foot tucked under the right, meant a quick, agile raise. Pushed to his feet from squatting, Kylath took a double step back, which gave him seconds from distance too. Raising his own chin up, her disc blade was down, so he clipped his saber disengaged to his hip. Amadis pride to take her on even terms. Feeling the burning pain across the neck and back, his crush gaunt hands came up protectively and his stance dipped, like he had a thousand times on the mat before. He came for her, or met her coming for him just as likely, she wasn't shy, or as pretty as he was, maybe close.

Kicking at her shin with his right foot, his left elbow came down from high protecting his head, the elbow to block or jab down at whatever limb or weapon she threw, distractions needed against a stronger opponent. Ducking tight, legs flexible, what did his right hand do? A thrusting palm attack toward her body, the real attack, grabbing anything he could on that armor and squeezing to crush. Any other day for her that might be taking liberties. Today it was liberties vs Crushgaunts and their tendency to not play nice, with anything, least of all blue eyed blonds, or their fancy armor. She was faster, stronger, so he used what he had, what he was trained to do.

Elsewhere:
Evac Medical Shuttles came in, 770th Loyal Sons clones rushing out into the lower ruined decks, looked like a double cross... triggers were itchy everywhere. There was still plenty of shooting going on aboard as they withdrew, but most of the survivors came, the ones that could anyway. Seconds past, medics coming in behind to help the wounded, and then the 770th Loyal Sons, clones all, proved they were good to their word, and exceptionally good at following orders as expected, their shuttles departing cleanly. It would bring the 770th and the 769th a lot closer after that day, knowing they came in risking their lives just to pull them out of the fire. The 770th were just following orders, but the 769th wouldn't ever forget their brothers, changing their views on clones entirely.

Through it all had any assassins come aboard with them? Medical gear and perhaps disguised equipment being the perfect cover. @Any Sith Not Yet In.

Personal Gear:
X1 Officer Armor | MRS-1 Modular Assault Rifle (Dropped) | 4x Mixed Grenades (1 dropped) | Lightsaber on hip | Personal Ray Shield | Crushgaunts on Hands | Jack Knife Pistol on hip

Actions: 700 of the 769th withdraw with their wounded in the 770th Loyal Sons medical shuttles, leaving 100 cut off and surrounded aboard ship.

Predictably, things only got stranger. The sword toting Sith took a round, leaking blood all over the deck, before loosing some sort of blastwave from his mouth that scattered marines like ninepins. Then he promptly vanished in a swirl of blue n’ gray. Not because he turned a corner. He just up and disappeared on the spot.

Sal grunted, scatter gun swinging toward the only other hostile in the room. ‘Cept just at that moment, she lobbed a sphere of glowing energy through the mess. The orb slammed into the bulkhead, then detonated like a bomb. The groan of tortured metal turned to a howl as the yawning hole in the bulkhead quickly sucked all the atmosphere from the room.

“Kriff,” Sal growled.

The hole wasn’t big enough to suck anyone out, but it meant that they needed to get out of here and fast. The mess decks were anything but mission critical and much as Sal wanted to quench the thirst that made his throat dry as bones, he needed to get paid. Only way he’d be doing was by completing the mission, otherwise there might not be an Alliance to go back to.

“Disengage. Outbacker’s got this.”

Helmet HUD displaying he only had a minute of air left, Sal hopped on over to the nearest passageway, followed by the four marines - one limping - and managed to slip through before the door sealed shut behind them.

“Let’s get to that generator.”

Just as Kyber suspected, the obvious assault from all angles was to no avail. It seemed that the Sith that stood in front of him and Aela was one that was not to be trifled with carefully. Kyber would need to risk his life in its entirety to even begin to have a chance of making it out of here alive. Starting the trend of smart actions, Kyber lifted his left hand up before curling his fingers into a tight fist, signalling his men to cease fire and hold back on the Jedi's order. It was then that Kyber was graced with the Sith's look of utter disappointment and contempt. And of course at that point Kyber couldn't help but smirk from behind the safety of his helmet. No matter the enemy, Kyber always appreciated a man that cut straight through the poodoo.

Now, whether the Sith could use the force to sense Kyber's apoplectic attitude or not was irrelevant, because in the same hand movement that he used to halt his men Kyber rotated his hand 180 degrees and proceeded to promptly give the Sith lord the finger. Even though it was an obvious taunt, Kyber wished to assess the Sith's reaction nonetheless. Studying one's enemy was the most efficient way to end them after all, so that's exactly what Kyber did as he made his way over towards Aela through the sea of soldiers. Half of them looked like they were ready to pounce- the other half looked like they were scared karkless. Unfortunately they'd have to make do. Once Kyber reached Aela he dropped his rifle and allowed the sling to slide it down to his side, now preparing to shoulder his Quietsnipe. "Most of these men will get slaughtered if they stay here, ma'am. I suggest we have them exit the area and continue on securing a foothold- making sure our mission here is a success. Myself and a small squad will offer you our support in dealing with the Sith."

On Transport; Headed for OS Comm Station

"Hey, Jack?" came a familiar voice next to Jack. "You look nervous. First time?"

Meet Fang. He was 6'2" with raven hair and a normally serious expression on his face. However, since meeting and interacting with Jack, the two had fallen in with each other and were pretty much inseparable. They both shared similar humor and they were comfortable talking about whatever they felt like saying to each other whenever. Jack looked up from the ground and met his friend's concerned gaze. Truth be told, Jack wasn't at all thrilled to be on this particular mission. Being paired up with and meeting Fang was great and all, but the ever-present completely fatal condition that was space (a.k.a. instant death) really made his stomach march ahead of his own tempo...

"Yeah, you could say that. I hate space, sorta' kinda'. 'The place where they'll never hear you scream' and all of that boogie man jibe. I feel as though I have less control out here than I do on solid ground."

"Well, those are valid concerns. I guess I've gotten so used to it that I actually enjoy it."

"...You're crazy..."

"But, I'm the kind of 'crazy' that you need right about now...right?"

"...Yeah."

They both grinned at each other and then started talking about armor and weapons that they thought were really cool. Anything to pass the time whilst they skirted away from the large battle and prepared to infiltrate their own station. Jack figured that it would soon be time to upgrade his gear. His current stuff was familiar and comfortable, but it wasn't as efficient as it should have been for his line of work. The old suit was starting to become more of a hassle to maintain then keep. Finally, the lights went out except for two red bulbs near the doors. It was time to ready up.

____________________________________________________________________________________
The sound of his own breathing inside the suit made him feel much more aware and sensitive to their vulnerable state. Jack wondered if anyone else was feeling the same. However, the only thing he could see was the backs of patient, un-moving men in vacuum suits. No one displayed any telling signs of nerves. He must have been the only one new at this. They docked and the green light went up. Soon after, the doors slid open with little sound and everyone stepped out into the minimally gravitated hangar bay. An exodus from the transport ship to the airlock room of the hangar bay was underway until everyone was inside said room, the door behind them shut and the only light was that of the technician working on a nearby console to the room and opening the other door.

Aedan laughed. "Gotta leave something for you too. Can't have you grow rusty on us." in the next moment he wondered what that said about him, being able to laugh and joke moments after murdering two other pilots all the while his current wingman was under fire. But it was a high pressure situation. Let it get to you and one might break. The jokes kept it at a healthy distance and eased up some of the tension. Much like his T-70, Aedan's shields were up too.

Aedan was closing in, but Asmus had a plan. It was tempting to ignore it and just stay on course. He knew if he just got enough time, he could take out that last TIE. What if Asmus was wrong and blew up in a big ball of fire? This wasn't like his old squad though. Like most of the Rogues, when someone had a plan they didn't ask for permission but acted on it. They knew it would work. Aedan had the options of breaking formation and jeopardising himself, his wing and the mission itself, or play along. It was an easy choice.

When Nine gave the signal, Aedan broke to port. Asmus flipped around and eliminated the last Eyeball. It was quick, fancy and efficient. Smooth moves. Definitely not rusty. Though he didn't say anything Aedan was taking notes of that particular one.

"I see them, Rogue One." Aedan replied as he and Asmus headed back to join up again. Four FE Starfighters were approaching. Their formation seemed split in half, each fighter flying close to their wingman. I haven't seen those before, Aedan thought to himself. He had a feeling these wouldn't come down as easily as the TIEs had.
