The Pleasent Ball

"Hmm, princess..." Kadrak smiled and winked. "I don't mind the sound of that, not at all. I never did see myself as royalty, so even if you do convince them, which I'm almost certain you'll be able to, I'm not sure how great I'll be at the princess bit. It doesn't hurt that I have you as my prince, though. That just sweetens the pot." She shrugged. "And besides, I already saw you as a prince of sorts. Making it official doesn't sound like a bad idea, though."
She paused for a moment. "I'd be interested in meeting your family, definitely. And I've never been to Csilla, so exploring the planet will be fun as well. A new society and culture will be refreshing, I think, along with learning more about the culture as a whole. You might have to tell me a bit about things on the way there, however."

I laughed, a short, almost barking one, this time.

"I'd be interested to meet my family, Kadrak. I certainly hope we don't end up having them shooting at us. Won't be the best family reunion ever, but it certainly won't be the worst."

I smiled, and pulled Kadrak a bit closer to me.

"You're already a princess. All I had to do was provide the opportunity to show it."

[member="Kadrak Jalaan"]

Kadrak flashed a grin. "Well, if they do shoot at us, I'll do my best not to hit anyone. I'm decent at disarming people if it comes to close combat, so all in all it shouldn't be a problem. I'll do my best to plan for every eventuality though, don't you worry. Wouldn't want to have any of your relatives surprise us. I'm sure I'll appreciate the warm welcome, whether it's blasters at our heads or smiles all around. I've become accustomed to both, though the latter is more preferable. I've read enough about Chiss military prowess to want to avoid an engagement of that sort."
She smiled. "Already a princess? Well, if you insist, I suppose I could be convinced to believe it..."

Watches Oka waiting to follow his lead then smiles. "Sure. We can learn on the go." she said then turns a bit to face him.

Oka nodded to the man with the music. A slow tempo came on along with a classical song. He sighed in his head. Oka didn't like classical, but he could take it for a dance. He put on one hand on one side of her hips and one hand on the other. "Hope you don't mind, this is the only way I remember to slow dance." he mentioned as he moved with the beat. He smiled and waited for her moves. He figured moving with her would be more fun, since she probably has more experience.

"What kind of insistence did you have in mind?"

I winked, and took another gulp of my drink.

"No Chiss that's less than a Jedi Battlemaster could face me down. The rank-and-file might be good, but they're not as strong as me, and probably don't shoot as well as you do."

[member="Kadrak Jalaan"]

"Depends on just what you meant by that wink of yours. There are a few different directions I could take things, and none of them are a bad thing. Well, as long as you're fine with spending plenty of time with me." Kadrak grinned, taking another swallow of her whiskey, keeping the glass in hand.
"The Chiss never really struck me as the sort of people to be that fond of Jedi. No offense meant, of course, but from what little I've witnessed and the literature I've gotten my hands on, that seems to be the case. I can't say how good of a shot they may or may not be, but from past experience underestimating your enemy isn't a good way to start things. They seem like a pretty formidable foe on paper, but history is written by the victors, as they always say."

[member="Zatten Black"]

"Maybe not Jedi, specifically, princess, but they definitely have Battlemasters there. Plenty of accounts of invasions of Csilla evidence that. Especially the recent One Sith invasion. There were Chiss force-users in the battle there."

I grinned, and put my arm around Kadrak's back, pulling her closer.

"Sadly, I think today's form of 'insistence' will simply be conversation. But not neccesarily..."

I kissed Kadrak on the cheek.

"... uninterrupted."

[member="Kadrak Jalaan"]

A slow smile found its way to her lips. "You are dead set on that princess thing, aren't you?" Kadrak returned his kiss with one of her own, on his cheek as well. "But if you insist, my prince, who am I to challenge things?"
She nodded, setting her half-empty glass on the counter. "I might have to see if I can get my hands on a few of those accounts, sometime. It's always nice to read about just what other people thing and compare it to your own opinions. And, well, I'm not intent on engaging any of the Chiss military anytime soon, but I would be interested in reading about at least some of their strategy. Especially in regards to how they integrate their Force users into things, and what sort of training they received with no Jedi or Sith temples there, presumably."

[member="Zatten Black"]

"Oh, there are enclaves. Just not anything that could be seen as an actual order. They're more like the special police."

I grinned, and squeezed Kadrak's hand.

"We might have to have some fun before we go strutting around trying to out-think a bunch of blue people. Or else I don't think the prince or the princess will be in any sort of mood to talk."

[member="Kadrak Jalaan"]

"And from the sound of things, our little visit might warrant these special police making an appearance. I'm flattered that we warrant such high security, really. It means a lot, that a group of people I've never met are threatened enough by our presence. We've not even arrived yet, and here we are making battle plans. Quite the pair we are." Kadrak smiled and gently toyed with his fingers as she imagined to herself just what this little squad of Chiss special police would look like and how they would make their entrance. Not anything nearly as flashy as she herself was used to, she was certain. Military precision seemed more their thing.
"Fun, you say? What is it you had in mind for the night? Earlier you said the only insisting tonight would be conversation. From the way you're talking it seems as if you've changed your mind." She grinned and nudged him playfully.

[member="Zatten Black"]

I squeezed Kadrak's waist as she nudged me.

"Of course, we could make another pillow fortress, but we could also just sit like this, talking. If some other communication involving our mouths occurs, of the thoroughly silent kind, I'm not complaining."

I shrugged, and smiled at her again, looking into her face. My fingers wrapped around and between Kadrak's, and it was a pleasantly warm feeling.

"Battle plans? And here I thought I was planning our vacation."

[member="Kadrak Jalaan"]

"Another pillow fort doesn't sound half bad to me. Especially not if it ends up including some of that silent communication you mentioned." Kadrak winked, glancing out to the dance floor where Oka was now dancing with the girl he'd been speaking to earlier. "But for now, I think it would be interesting to stay, if not just to see how tonight ends up. Besides, it seems like Oka might have struck gold after all." She nodded toward the two of them.
She grinned and shrugged. "Battle plans, vacation...you could really group them into one category if you wanted. Our idea of fun is getting into some kind of trouble with authority, after all, or shooting at things. It just wouldn't be us otherwise."

[member="Zatten Black"]

I smirked at Oka and the woman he was with.

"I might need a snack to watch this little movie. Those two dance like they're actively trying not to step on each other's toes."

I looked back up at Kadrak, and grinned.

"It's not a vacation without high-energy blasters buzzing at my face."

[member="Kadrak Jalaan"]

Kadrak regarded the couple for another moment with a faint smile. No matter what she said she was happy for him, regardless. He seemed like the kind of guy who would be nice to be around, no matter your relation to him. "As opposed to us, with what little we dance. I think this is one of the few times we've actually had a proper slow dance in a proper ballroom at a proper ball. That's another thing to check of the bucket list. They arene't half bad at dancing, really. Not for what I have to assume is their first time."
She looked to Zatten now with a grin. "It's no fun if nobody's getting shot at. I would be surprised if either of us started not inspiring people to draw their blasters. That would be the start of our decline, I believe." She laughed quietly and winked.

[member="Zatten Black"]

I shook my head, half grimacing.

"No, no. To be truly inspiring to attack, I'd have to be wearing my armor. Now that would be a fight. got all kinds of funny gadgets hidden in that old thing. I don't even have to draw my sword. I just use wires."

I grinned broadly, and brushed Kadrak's face with my hand.

"It's actually a lot of fun to make people abandon all reason or strategy and attack you en masse. I might even have to show you, some time."

[member="Kadrak Jalaan"]

Kadrak mused with a faint smile. "Wires...that leaves a lot open to imagination. You might have to show me just for that. I've always been one inclined to see what new tricks I can pick up. It's always beneficial to learn where you can. Mostly because a lot of people who work with technology, that I've had the good fortune of working with anyhow, prefer to go by the book. Of course, the few that taught me the art preferred improvisation, but I can't be sure where they've ended up. It'd be nice to touch base, again." She blinked and shook her head, realizing she was getting off topic. "But that doesn't matter, I suppose. I would like to watch you get attacked by the masses, but only if I can have a hand in helping with the defense."

Smiles and shakes her head. "You are fine, Oka." she said softly as she slowly wraps her around loosely around the man's neck as she follows his steps to the slow dance.

"Have you come to these balls before?"

I nodded, and smirked.

"Of course you can help. I always need somebody to cover my back... Especially when I'm doing something as monumentally stupid as making people attack me."

I put a hand on Kadrak's cheek, and smiled.

"We can go meet your old teachers whenever you want. I think it'd be... enlightening."

"This is my first safe ball. I've been to some that have ended because of chaos but yea. Its nice coming to one every now and then." he said moving with the beat. "Do you come often?" Oka asked.
