Unpopular Opinions That Choo Got

  • Too many factions recycle the same over used system and names.
  • Members flock too much to those factions that are carbon copy repeats with limited creativity or input.
  • Too many new, under used and unique ideas are pushed to the side and ignored.

Contraty to popular opinion, killing your character can be an awesome ending to a story.
This forever. A lot of my most cherished RP moments have involved some of my characters getting killed, and the repercussions thereof.

Oh, here's another one.

For the love of all that's holy, stop making lesbian characters and making them promiscuous because you get your jollies off it, and then trying to seduce everything in sight, especially straight women, because we all know every straight woman is a lesbian at heart. Do you have any idea how disrespectful that is, not just to lesbians but to women in general? That's pure objectification. It's sexism. And it's the sort of thing that leads to the attitudes that enable sexual harassment. Man the feth up and play a real character.

I hate when people come to me and ask to make them Beskar'gam
  1. I'm a the writer of a shipwright, not a smith, that's my brother @[member="Kad Kando"]
  2. They usually have no legitimate reason to have it and so the thread becomes more about OOC than the story
  3. You probably come from a faction that HAS lightsaber-proof material go use it instead!

I think that once a faction makes a contract with a shipbuilding company and said company/faction member with admin approval and company holder approval make a certain type of starfighter no new ones should be made until a dev thread about enhancing starfighter/SD/cruiser/frigate potential is done
  1. Keeps the factory clear
  2. RPJs will love us more
  3. Admins will love us more

-People advance way too quickly on here. There are people that have been here for months less than some characters, participated in a few Doms and one or two big threads and hit Master

-People should stop worrying about their faction and think of the board as a whole, allowing multiple stories to happen and just roll with the punches

-We should be making stories

-I tried to get Gilamar killed in an epic fight with Velok...but then he died

-I am a firm believer that not everything IC is dictated via OOC and that they can be seperate (Turin is proof of this)
-I don't know why planet and species creation exists but I'm glad it does because then we wouldn't have Garrus to protect us all
-I like the Sith and want them to come back via sneaky tactics, surprising a faction and taking over a nice portion of its space
-I think "Wars" should consist of more than a few invasions and an invasion of the capitol world. Lets see some skirmishes and faction threads with leaders talking and some more skirmishes and then a nice sprinkling of invasions. Oh, and occupations
-We need more civilian tech speeders and junk...I miss @[member="Shai Daw"]

AGREED, mostly the flocking part. I mean, yes canon factions of course are cool and all, but what about the unique factions, like the Levantines and all those Minor Factions that get a single glance then are left alone to die. Hell, only reason my Minor faction is even living is because all 5 of the members are my friends.

OH and that leads to another thing, if you arent friends with the right people, it is NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to start something up no matter the amount of time and quality spent on the project. Its annoying and feels like a fucking popularity contest sometimes.

This forever. Fringe and OP did this for months, and so far as I've heard, everyone loved it.

Sigh...

When people play "wookieepedia force power musical lottery" look at the Force power, regardless how rare it is and how few people know it, and go.. "huh, this sounds cool!" and insert to rp without any prior training or substance.

There was a time when a brand new faction was created with a wonderfully unique idea. This faction was brillianty designed, enticing a host of great writers to it's banner. And then... the creator left (within a week and a half) long before anything could be done with the faction. No one knew what to do. So it disbanded.

Since then, that's basically been the story of things. No one wants to actually put the work into a new faction or, if they do, they feel that it is a necessity to go major immediately - a horrid idea that serves only to hasten their demise. If you want 'unique' ideas to flourish, you must first put time and effort into it's creation. Then you need to roleplay; find members. Anyone can make an alt, but not everyone can entice through story.

If you can do that? You're golden.

But just posting up a new faction idea and making a new faction is never going to attract the attention it may or may not deserve. Why? Because there's a faction for everything.

nevermind that Fringe and OP are entirely original factions, at least at their core.

Edit: The success of factions through time, as Daella has reminded me, has come from the commitment and initiative of their leaders. If you can't be arsed to stick around and support an idea, even when it seems like no one is interested... neither will the members. Sometimes you have to keep yelling until someone comes to see what all the fuss is about.

I feel like making an 'Is Your Faction a Vanity Project?' checklist. I'd imagine questions something like these:

  • If you, as faction creator, left for two months, would your faction still be doing things and growing when you got back?
  • No, wait, that's the entire checklist.

Agreed, though i just wish people looked at the library of factions, even the mini planet factions like the chiss, Echani, (Not the Dathomiri, they actually have a player base so dont count.) And those Crystal finder guys. Like... trying to put this in the right words...

Gilamar deserves a lover and a child
Pubs are too small
we need rebellions
Star Peace sucks and kills factions
I hat star peace
Mando'a is not annoying in small doses but entire dialogues are. That's what <> are for!

I feel like the Asian Emperor has the fortitude of a god to have hung on to his idea for so long to have it go major... shame though that it didn't stay independent in my opinion.

EDIT: Sorry Akio, I forgot your last name, so I didn't bother putting any of your name till just now
