Alderaan, Shades of Grey

"Once more, only this time, i want you to focus on how you bring the force to listen to you rather than focusing on whether you can expand your sight or not." Verrin blinked a few times, bring the force to listen to him? He had never tried to make the force do anything before. He gave it a nudge once in awhile to get it to respond to his touch, but force it to listen to him? When he tried to 'see', he always tried to ride the ebbs and flows of the force with his mind; he never tried to force it to change to suit him.

"Okay, I can try," Verrin said a little unsure as he closed his eyes and reached out to the world around him again, but instead of riding the waves and letting it wash over him, he tried to pull it to him. Force it to bend around him. Instead of reaching out, he tried to draw the world to him instead.

As his awareness and reached furthered, it was harder to maintain 'control' on it. Every time he pulled, another part would flow back in place. A dark pit in his stomach desired to dominate it. To force it to obey him and his whims no matter what they be. Verrin let go of what he had grabbed and opened his eyes, dispelling the desire to dominate that had been spreading in his mind, "I am sorry, but I... don't think I can do that," he whispered.

"No, thats a good thing that the Jedi have not taught you to force it to listen to you, it means things will be easier for me to show you. This time, instead of controling it, or even just going with the flow of the force, communicate with it. Ask it to show you more, dont search yourself by let it help you focus. Show it the same respect you would show your masters and instead of you or it leading, cooperate with it." She saw the force as another being, one they lived beside and it crafted their very existence. To work with it was something that few did, they either let it lead them or tried to bend it to their will, but she would rather have middle ground. @Verrin Ris'To

"No, thats a good thing that the Jedi have not taught you to force it to listen to you, it means things will be easier for me to show you," Verrin let out a small breath of relief as repeating that wasn't something he wanted to, or would, do. The feeling that raised in his chest only reminded him of how careful he had to be.

"This time, instead of controling it, or even just going with the flow of the force, communicate with it. Ask it to show you more, dont search yourself by let it help you focus. Show it the same respect you would show your masters and instead of you or it leading, cooperate with it." Ask it? How did he just... ask it?

"Ask it? I.. do I just feel like I want it's help? Or, I, how do I ask it for help?" Verrin asked unsure of what she meant. On some level, he understood, but he wasn't sure how to, well, do it.

"Same way you just did so to me, the Force is just every bit alive as you and me, perhaps even more so. It holds a will that the Sith want to break but cannot, it holds a Voice the Jedi want to follow but are deaf to... no offense... No, it must be treated like your masters, respected and worked with, it is not some great leader or slave, it is a companion. A Sibling that is unseen, a blood brother that is never gone from you, it is something great and small, and all you need do is work with it to better understand it."

Verrin still wasn't quite sure what was being asked, but he ventured a guess that it wouldn't be easy to describe to no matter how many times he asked. All he could do was close his eyes and do it, hope fur the best.

Verrin let out a slow breath and closed his eyes, once more letting his mind leave his body, and the force to flow through him. Ask for help. It sounded so simple but so complex at that same time. How did he even start? Once more, he tried to reach out mind, gliding on the ebb and flow of the force, but just as before, the small details like the grass and leaves started to blur in his mind and escape his touch, so he did as he told and.. tried to coax the force into helping him.

He felt like a child trying to get the wind to blow in his direction, how was he supposed to do it? Verrin inched forward, closer to Alexandra and held out his hands, "Would you sense with me? It will be easier for me to... feel what you do and go with you," He asked, his eyes still closed.

She nodded and took the hand, merging her mind to his if he allowed her to, speaking to him without a single breath. 'Breath slowly, let your mind wander, dont keep it still. Now listen carefully, listen as the force speaks and whispers to you, listen to it and answer it." She herself began to clear up his sight, adding in the details that blurred, her mind whispering out, not to him, but to the flow. The words were nearly too quiet to understand, but still there, asking for the force to help her clear up his sight, sometimes even sounding like begging once or twice on certain details she alone could not fully carve into the landscape. 'Can you hear them?'

For her and his own good, he could not allow their minds to fully meld as such a thing... was incredibly dangerous to do with a K'paur, but a light touch to hear and feel each other was something he could risk. "Breath slowly, let your mind wander, dont keep it still. Now listen carefully, listen as the force speaks and whispers to you, listen to it and answer it."

Verrin did as she asked, letting his mind wander yet holding onto her own as well as he didn't want to stray too far away from her. He opened his senses trying to hear whatever it was that she could hear. His vision started to clear, and he could hear her speaking, whispering, pleading to... something, and it seemed to help as details he normally could not pull to his mind were now easily filtering in and out of his awareness.

Can you hear them?' He couldn't hear, but... but he could feel something. Something calling to him in the ebb and flow of the force as if it was trying to touch him in return, 'I-I think so,' Verrin said as the new sensation was so strange, but it didn't feel wrong as trying to complete the force to do his bidding had earlier.

She slowly pulled her mind out, taking minutes upon minutes to leave him alone in his attempt. Infact it took her more than a dozen to pull off from him without a word, but in the end her remained alone to the ebb and flow that he was situated in. Once disconnected she watched and waited to see if he could continue this now that he was pointed in the right direction,t o see if he can hold the image that Alexandra helped create now that he knew what to look for. @Verrin Ris'To

Verrin could feel her slowly retreating from him like a father trying to teach his son how to ride his first speeder, but a part of him, the hollow hole in the pit of his stomach, the missing link in his soul that he had never been graced with wanted him to reach back out to her and bring her mental touch back in, to try and use her to fill the hole, but he refused to allow it, focusing on the new sensation of whatever it was calling out to him.

He did not know what it wanted, so he followed the call, but it kept leading him on in circles it seemed. Whenever he got close to touch it, it would vanish. In his pursuit, the details that Alexandra had helped him create were slipping from his mind, so he did what she had.. he called out to it in a whisper asking for help. It was an odd feeling, instead of it escaping his grasp; it seemed to come back to touch his mind, to skirt along his consciousness. It wasn't the same intensity as before when his mind was touching Alexandra's, but it was a start.

Slowly the details started to come back to him, of the blades of grass, of the leaves yet he was still reaching farther then he had before. Pulling himself back, he blinked a few times not sure of what to say, "I," he paused, it had worked. She had helped him figure out how to... talk to the force. How to get it to help him expand his views. He wasn't sure what to make of it, but... "Thank you."

"For what, i didnt do anything past tell you to just talk. Why is it so hard for a guy to express himself, like trying to pull water from stone if i might say so." She smiled and sat back, breathing in as she looked at the sky. "Your welcome, remember the force is alive in every way that you an i are, no different from us in that aspect. Making it your slave or just following it will not serve you, you much command its respect to truly be one with it and understand it, and even then you wont ever understand it.... i dont in the least, but i can provide you with the door to trying to find out about the force unlike that of which the Jedi or Sith cant." @Verrin Ris'To

"For what, i didnt do anything past tell you to just talk. Why is it so hard for a guy to express himself, like trying to pull water from stone if i might say so." Verrin couldn't deny that as it had felt... odd asking for help much least for something he couldn't see. His natural pride made it hard for him to admit he needed help.

Verrin wasn't so sure about a door that the Jedi or Sith couldn't show him, but he was open to new experiences as she was kind and had helped him, "I will remember," he said offering her a hesitant smile. It did make him wonder what would happen if he tried talking to the force during some of his other training, but he would be certain to try it. He looked over Alexandra over once again, "Are you sure you would be okay with saber training?"

"Are you kidding me, i havent head a good duel in weeks. Helping you even just train is completely fine with me." She waved her hands for him to stand but did nothing more, just keeping her hands crossed behind her as she made sure she had a full range of motion. Her sabers remained untouched but she did make sure her hair was tied up out of her way, making sure that it would not blind her or get in the way. @Verrin Ris'To

"Are you kidding me, i havent head a good duel in weeks. Helping you even just train is completely fine with me," Verrin stood up when she motioned him to, and he would have offered to help her up, but she beat him to it. When her hair was tied back, and her hands clasped behind her back, Verrin took a deep breath to center himself and clear his mind again. Sparring, or even training, with his saber was always a dangerous situation for him.

Slowly, Verrin unclasped his curved-hilt lightsaber from his belt and held it out in his right hand.

"Hmm one or two, one or two, i wonder which i should use..." She paced for a few seconds before removing her blades and igniting both before holding them out to her sides. "After you, just dont gut me and we will be good." She waited for a single movement or insight into how skilled he was with the blade at this point so that she had a starting point. @Verrin Ris'To

Verrin had been hoping for two as he didn't get to face duel wielders that often, "Only if you promise not to take my hand," he said offering a small smile. His lightsaber ignited, the green blade giving a soft hum. He stepped back before bring his saber in front of his face and swinging it down in a flourish to rest by his leg, the common Makashi salute to someone they respect.

With the greetings done, Verrin flicked the saber at her in a feint, halfway into the slice; Verrin slid his hand around the hilt, holding it with the curve handle coming around to hug the side of his hand as he turned the slash into a quick thrust at her right shoulder.

Alexandra moved to stop the saber before it had changed direction, luckily though her other hand danced up and knocked the blow to the side. She was on the defensive, knowing Makashi's weaknesses from her own use of it. Her own stance was that of Makashi, her hands moving the blades in a quick fluid motion before she stopped and waited for the next strike to come in. Her eyes flickered over his body, watching his stance, watching his arms, waiting for him to move.

Verrin didn't try to stop his lightsaber being turned away instead preferring to move with it, he stepped to the right and flipped his hand around the hilt once again, the curved end resting in his palms as he flicked it up once again, but this time the target was the saber in her right hand. He would slide along the top and then jump the saber to her open right arm.

She slid back as the saber came in, the blade touching her robes but not her causing it to sear the fabric and throw up a bit of flames before they vanished. She smiled and then went on the offensive almost immediately, her blades coming down in a axe like over head strike as they would collide with his own blade to keep him off his feet, she needed him to feel the force, though not exactly hard, still held a good deal of force behind the over head dual strike. @Verrin Ris'To

Verrin's senses let him know of the approaching danger, and his instincts had him stepping to the right again as he caught Alexandra's lightsabers trying to deflect them and let them slide off, but his arm shook with the surprising force behind her blows. He was far larger then her, as he was most beings, but he could feel the force running through her, and she was far stronger then she looked.

Because of his surprise, her blades almost pushed his into his shoulder, but he moved and let them slide off his green saber. Verrin took another step to the right trying to distance himself from her sabers as he made a quick swipe at her right thigh.

Alexandra pulled her leg back as his strike came in while he also backed away, making for a solid miss before she reassumed her starting stance and waited for him to strike first. "After you." She twisted one blade in her hand holding it face down as she waited for him to strike, giving him a new avenue of attack and a new threat to deal with.
