Ask: Factory Talk Thread

Game tech is extremely shaky territory. We normally don't allow it if it's ridiculous, which about 90% of it is. If you feel like putting in the work for a comprehensive and balanced tech submission, it will be judged accordingly. But it will get zero special consideration because it's "canon."

Game canon is the weakest of canons. We tend to ignore it.

But I'm looking for a temporary severing, something that can be controlled. Now that I think of it, I saw something like this, or at least what I interpreted to be similar, in a thread. Jacen Cavill had a ring which was described in the thread as cutting him off from the force when he had it on, allowing him to disguise himself as Cade Lee.@[member="Fabula Cavataio"]

If you want a ring that makes you into a muggle, write up the tech sub. Balance it. Tweak it. Describe it as comprehensively as possible. Maybe do a thread showing how you found/made/stole it. If you're willing to put the work into the submission, we're willing to put the work into judging it.

@[member="Fabula Cavataio"] How well would this work? Keep in mind it's to be implemented into Xardus's story later on, this is just a concept for then.

Intent: To give Xardus a ring that when worn, will restrict him of his force powers and cut him off from the force.
Development Thread:
Manufacturer:
Model: Finger ring
Affiliation: Xardus Folidaar
Modularity: None
Production: Unique
Material: Durasteel
Description: When he gets beaten and subdued, Sadrion is stripped of his armor and a ring is placed on his finger, restricting his host body from using the force, and thus pushing him to the depths of Xardus's mind. The ring's only effects are to completely cut the wearer off from the force.

That is nowhere near enough description for a solid tech entry, especially not one that has the ability to protect you against Force attacks. You're gonna need a lot more than that, hon. Go into some detail.

I can give it some more detail, but I never mentioned anything about protecting him from the force. This instead restricts him from using the force. Think of it like kryptonite to superman, it takes away his power. @[member="Fabula Cavataio"]

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
I'm looking to refit several ships for the Galactic Empire, all of which were approved for Mass Production, under the old system. The changes are somewhat comprehensive, including general re-balancing and things like size and weapon loadout. They are also both over 1000m. Do I need to finish a dev thread as per the rules (there's one in progress but it's sorta slow and the write ups are finished and I'm impatient) to get them as Mass Production, or can they inherit the the original versions submission?

@[member="Cyrus Tregessar"]
I'd say not. Most of the submissions I've done or refitted vessels don't require development threads unless your judging Staff member wants to see one. For the majority of the refits of capital ships, I review them and they're usually acceptable to the site standards.

"The thread is completely insufficient. You require at least 10 threads with the owner of J.A.C or a representative of the company."

Ok...what? How am I supposed to do 10 threads between my own two characters? I thought that wasnt supposed to happen?

Lol you said ten threads though. That's why I was like O.O. cause ten threads combined for a singular sub was a lot lmao. Ten posts though is much easier haha. I'll get that thread expanded asap.

Most stupid question I'll probably ever have to ask here;
Is Vong armor allowed?

Edit: Never mind, just noticed the Vong Tech thread, thanks.

I guarantee we've had dumber questions than that.

Vong biotech is allowed on the same basis that all other tech is allowed: after Factory Judge approval, seconded by staff approval. It's subject to the same constraints as all other tech. It's not better than conventional tech. Just radically different.

So are avid Mando characters still required to have a dev thread for Beskar'gem (actual Beskar armor)? I was thinking about it, and I'm like well if they're actually a part of the faction then they would frequent the planet a lot and would most likely have one by default.
