Ask: Factory Talk Thread

While I am waiting for Fabula's angels to answer.

Is there a limit for resources on custom planets? If I wanted to make a world where they use something restricted or have deposits of it. Is that allowed?

They'd probably ask you to dev thread it and limit it to one resource @[member="Ayumi Pallopides"], just for balance and to not set a bad precedent of getting limited stuff via a planet submission.
That feel when you're not staff and you still impulsively look at the Factory. I understand you bro.

We actually just had this question yesterday. I don't like the idea of people coming up with new planets for it, but more importantly I don't know the official policy on it. That kind of decision would go beyond simple Factory politics. So...until I find an answer, assume it's a no.

@[member="Fabula Cavataio"] how about dev thread for planet submission with one rare metal(cortosis, songsteel, godmodium..) then they do a planet submission and it just gets added to the restricted items list and you have to dev thread getting the material to make an armor or weapon submission?

That sounds reasonable to me, the planet dev thread will probably have to be exceptionally fabulous with plot and story and good literary elements with proper grammar and spelling and stuff down to the nth degree and even then it might come down to how drunk we judges are and how our day has been.

Last bit is a joke, but it really does come down to effort and if we think it'll be used responsibly or if it looks like an excuse to get at an item otherwise inaccessible. Like by putting beskar on a planet in your empire's control. Oh speaking of, that probably wouldn't be under a major faction's control without a unique dominion for it regardless of it's spawn point.

*This is also mostly my opinion on how it should work and isn't solid and shouldn't be referred to as an official ruling. I is ship judge not planet, not rpj.

@[member="Domino"] no no as much as I would love beskar unless your a mandalorian you don't know how to smith it properly. I wanted to have stygium used in jewelry.

Though a dev thread is something I would be willing to do while I work on it. I don't know how a dev thread would have to look. Past rps where the world is discovered? Or past rps on the planet do how the resource is found? For now though I am writing the history of the world and working on its culture. I've set it up in such a way the stygium if allowed could be interchanged for the crystals used.

With enough dev threading would the gravitational levelers we developed for GIA agents and Republic soldiers be able to be used on larger scale equipment? Example would be getting it on a titan walker so it could hide in the rafters of a warehouse and fire on unsuspecting targets who enter.
That would purely depend on the structural integrity of the building in question. Few buildings are designed for 'upward' pressure. You'd most likely destroy whatever the vehicle was walking on and then crash. That being said, from a balance standpoint, I don't see a problem with it. Several canon walkers (the clone wars version of the AT-AT) were capable of walking up vertical cliffs and securing themselves to small asteroids and the hulls of ships using magnetic feet... So, if a canon walker can do it magnetically, I don't see a problem with your funky gravity technology doing it.

Again though... No walking on buildings. Few are designed to have multi-ton vehicles strolling along them. Especially not when they are applying their weight/gravity in a sideways or upwards direction/force.

Alright, got a question for the factory queen. May I own Incom? I already know that you have to submit a submission for it,but I was just wondering if it was possible.

I'm still waiting on my species submission. Meanwhile, other people have posted subs after mine and been approved already. I haven't even gotten comments.

The Factory takes as long as it takes. FJs work on what they can when they have time. Jared in particular has school to deal with, and often doesn't have a lot of time until the weekends. Long rant short, be patient. It'll get done eventually.
