the Disney fanboys/girls that backs them up.
I did not say because they disagree just that I no longer care ad it turns out please don't quote or tag me I don't want to see this in my inbox I'd rather not be dragged here for me to get angry.

Also I will take this personally due to my love for the eu.

Oh no the European union can burn its a waste of money. Damn uk and America don't charge to help each other. Thats one thing I did wish Disney would get there hands on it then that would get removed too.

Lol. Yeah you have to be a fanboy to realize how Disney's business practices allow for studios to do their best. Yep, total fanboy here. Top lel. Nevermind that I have actually read most everything which has dropped in the official canon, and it has all been solid. But I'm totally a Disney fanboy here NOT a star wars fanboy. Lol. Yeah. totes.

We are in agreement that those are essentially the highlight, mainly X-wing. I can do without Thrawn. X-wing is just such a natural continuation of the movies.

There are some good EU things sure, but a huge portion of the EU was kinda trash if you want to be honest about it. I mean, boba got caught in the sarlacc pit like, 3 times if you follow the EU. Incredibly awesome bounty hunter? nah, I am just some idiot who falls into desert butt holes whenever I get the chance.

Yeah that's why I could care less about a Boba film. Though! I will say that I enjoy his presence in the comics.

Which btw, the newest Lando comic was pretty tyte and is going to have some pretty sick Sith stuff in the upcoming issues I believe.

If you don't like it, don't post in it... [member="Eddie"]

Wow... That Acturally helped me understand a lot of it, thanks.

As for the EU stuff, I get it, I don't know how many times a movie based off a book just hasn't made it, or fans get all butt hurt. But lest be honest here, even if the new movie comes out, and it makes trillions on the opening day (Because I'm gana see it 3 times alone cuz I'm a Star Wars nut even if it is bad), there will still be people saying the books and comics were still great. As a person who grew up with it like a lot of people here it's sucky for a corperation to just run along and tell us what he thought were good books and Infomration is no longer part of the story we love.

Of course the younger generation that didn't grow up with Star Wars, Ie mostly my age group and younger won't really care, new univers means we can finally grow up with it as well. But I was poor young, so the older books and comics are what I grew up on, and I'll miss it. Does that mean I'm not gana enjoy the newer stuff, no, (Cuz I'm gana see it 3 times when it comes out) but I'll be a little upset if they make a prequel about the Old Republic and mess it up like they did Clone Wars.

I mean I'm a huge Mass Effect fan, as you can see from my pic. I enjoy a game, movie, or book that has a working and fantastic storyline. I'm not gana bash on their decision, mainly cuz I can't do anything about it, cuz I'm gana be honest, I'm more interested in them filling in the gaps then sad they made those gaps.

I'm not a comic person but I view it somewhat in the way that the marvel resets are. Sometimes it is good to just clean the plate, and I think that the now empty areas will get filled. Just have to be patient, and as I've said the present content is pretty stinkin' good. Like, I am amped for everything.

Wouldn't it be prudent to wait? Why complain about a discussion going south if it has not? I just don't get that.

The retcon was totally necessary.

There are several excellent stories from the EU, particularly Kotor, Thrawn, and some other novels, the original Clone Wars and Dark Horse Comics were solid as well. Swtor for the most part has had great storytelling as well. (Although they totally fucked up Revan as a character.)

However, there were to many contradictions and bad stories, not to mention the fact that while the force could be awesome in the EU, had turned into like a D&D spell book. The concept of the force was raped by the Force Unleashed. The force works because it is powerful yet not all powerful. I don't think we'll be seeing any Starkillers in the continuity soon, thank god for that. As cool as massive shockwaves and mastering both sides of the force are, it just doesn't work with the original concept of the force.

The franchise needs to concise storytelling. Let's face it, most of the material (OT, RoTS, Clone Wars and yes, even Rebels are fantastic.) not to mention the new comics and adult novels are amazing.

All of the unnecessary garbage of the EU is being dropped, and it's the next best thing to retconning the prequels and Lucas's stupid remakes to the original movies.

As fans we should be thankful for the fact that Lucas for the most part is out of the picture and that we will get a coherent Star Wars universe. Disney knows how to make movies, just look at the Marvel cinematic continuity.

Finally, there is a lot of EU material that is being reworked into canon.

For example:
The Old Republic
Planets and species such as Anaxes and Chiss
The Sith Homeworld (if we can get over the fact it was changed to Moraband, fuck you Lucas)
Etc etc

The next generation of writers is gonna have a field day, the retcon is creating opportunities.

besides, the Vong was a $hit concept, seriously, a snake can withstand a lightsaber?

I actually like the moraband thing. I like the idea of it simply with the idea that it may have been called Korriban in the past but had its name changed over it. It was a good time. Very good time.

The Old Republic is likely not going to get put much back into lore insofar as what we have there being made into canon. I think that era will be re-explored.

And I do not view this as a retcon so much as a restart. To me, at least, a retcon is when you purely redefine existing material. This just wipes everything but a few things.

And yes, I always thought the fact that their weapons and armor just happened to be lightsaber resistant was kind of dumb. I could deal with the rest of their stuff, but that was just one of those dumb touches.

I don't dispute that. I just don't see them concerning themselves with it, and therefore not making anything that already exists of it already canon.

Another way to look at it. Why make something pre-existing into canon when you can make something similar but new.
