disney aka the death of star wars

Hate. No but why the fuck would I reinvest? Because it's "cool". And the thing to do. Fuck that.

Basically what your saying is what is made right now is canon and every thing else wasn't canon and wasn't the real deal (regardless). Which basically and effectively changes the game. It changes what I know about Star Wars. All of it. It means that what ever I know from Star Wars is effectively thrown out the window because someone sold it, except for the moves and a 3d series for 12 year olds (a shitty one at that). Right.

So the entire Mandalorian Order is based around the less than 7 minutes Boba was in the movies and insert time here for the entire Sith and Jedi Order that in Canon has existed for years.

Tzu. When you lose a girlfriend it doesn't mean your love wasn't real or that she's no more use to the human race anymore. It means there is a new girl out there, waiting for you to find her.

Attitude man. It's all perspective. :D

A bit of an over-reaction, much akin to the OP's post, but I think I understand where you're coming from.

However, no, none of your stuff was thrown out the window.

Are you familiar with how Marvel and DC have multiple dimensions, such as Earth 1 and Earth 512 and so on? Well Legends Canon and the current Canon are essentially that.

Chaos, however, doesn't care which canon you go by, because we consider both to be canon info.

I got a new woman. And not a girl. Just to clarify. The love might have been real with the old girl but it has matured into more with a serious woman. And yes, direct associations should be made.

Perhaps the most logical and in this moment the best course of action is to adopt a similar stance that many others (including myself) have already taken, that being clearing your mind, stepping back from the picture and waiting.
If you go into a Movie thinking its going to be the greatest thing in the world you'll either be correct, or you'll be disappointed.
If you go into a Movie thinking that its going to be the worst thing in the world you'll not be able to watch the film for what it is (same with the new TV series that are coming out and anything in the future with the Star Wars name upon it).
Thus I will go into the Movies with a clear mind. I will not think that Star Wars Episode VII is the greatest thing since Betty White (whom was born before sliced bread) nor will I not think that Star Wars Episode VII is a betrayal and is going to be worst than Snidely Whiplash.

Nice. So are you a "Battlestar" man or a "Star Trek" man. Ya know. If we can compare features??? :p

Just kidding. Sounds like you're all set then. Enjoy! :D

Oh I'll go there thinking its a nice sci fi but not Star Wars.

I understand throughly the Marvel reference. But the Marvel set up is different, it allows for that. Star Wars doesn't seem too. And now the KOTOR and TOR games and other books are just nice books and games that just happen to have references in the Star Wars setting but not actual stuff is involved and doesn't actually effect anything or an influence on it. Except the current stuff (I waiting for this to be used multiple more times).

Site wise a reference to in EU or otherwise makes sense for the site.

So just off topic for a few second then we can all go back to decided weather Disney made a dumb decision after my question.

I'm just wondering if all the planets, you know, the over 100 planets that aren't in the movies. Has Disney stated whether their keeping them or just placing them as non-Canon, and making all new planets. I mean the new planet they introduced is not from the EU maps. Plus the comic series has somewhat added new planets as well. So if this forum will one day evolve into the new timeline.... What will happen as the planets aren't mapped out yet?

Also, the species..... Are they out of date as well?

Also, did they say Midi-Chlorians would be part of the new Star Wars Univers, cuz I'm not 100% sure they were in the movies, kinda like 65% sure.

I heard otherwise but I could be mistaken and things can (will, because of Disney) change.

Species and planets, unless they are explicitly spoken of in the Movies, Rebels, Battlefront, up coming books or Clones. Then they do not exist. Period. End of story.

Wow.... So then the whole atlas and even the planets coordinates will be out of date?

Man that will mess up a whole lot of fans as that's kinda how we navigate the galaxy. I kinda hoped that was one thing they would keep, just to make a shortcut instead of making a ton of new planets for us to enjoy. I'm sure this forum may stay with the EU for a while, as it would take years to create a new galaxy of planets from scratch.

To my understanding.......That's correct. And that's just planets, let alone the Miraluka, Zabraks, Yoda's species, Humans, Mandalorians and any and all other species and/or culture that not directly mentioned and their associated homeworlds in the first 6 movies.

As stated about a dozen times earlier, and in various other places, we are not beholden to canonical events (not at this point), so whichever is deemed canon really does not matter. Both are suitable as being used as canon examples for factory & codex subs or various new things that may crop up, but we aren't getting rid of EU stuff or new canon stuff - both will stay, simultaneously.

Well I don't mean to Burst your bubble, but in the event that the New Timeline comes out with a new list of planets, updated Wookiepidia, and one day (I hope anyways) they will release an atlas for the new development of planet and the galaxy.

Now I'm not saying this will happen even in the next 5 years, but I'm sure it's gana happen, so in the event that it does happen, I'm just interested in how the Forum will evolve. I'm 100% sure the forum will stay in current path it has been, too many people just don't know a lot about the new timeline to even post the new canon stuff. So untill they complete or remotely cover half of the new canon, it's mostly just a skeleton of what we do here.

That said, I'm really gitty about how the new timeline will evolve, as a younger adult who didn't grow up with the EU, it's like I get to exsperiance it all again like the older fans have. That said, I'd never abandon the EU, the Vong and Old Republic are just too great of a series to just stop enjoying and love.

The forum does not use the canon maps, so this isn't an issue, and we have our own history for planets, so again this isn't a real issue.

The forum is set 844 years after the battle of Yavin, and after 400 years of a plague that wiped out a massive percentage of the galactic population and erased most of recorded history, setting technology back almost a thousand years, if not more. What happens in canon is only a foundation of what happens here, any major changes that go beyond movie events won't have a significant impact here.

The Yuuzhan Vong will always exist here, there's no changing that no matter what happens in canon, so will a vast majority of things. We don't adhere to canon to the T.
