Factory Q&A

Question, I'm trying to upgrade my freighter. Already found some stuff in the Marketplace, and general upgrades for things like improving the existent shields. How often would I have to submit a new factory sub for it? Every little add on? Should I dedicate a massive amount of work towards multiple changes in a single dev-thread and go with those? This is an ongoing project for Kerri, and she'd be tinkering with her freighter constantly. Thanks! :)

Depends on how much of a modification you want to do at one time.

For one or two items, you can do the mod thread --

For a massive overhaul, I'd advise simply resubmitting the submission as a fresh one and archiving the other so it can still be reviewed as a whole for balance

My character possess four arms, each one capable of holding a weapon. Can I create four unique weapons and submit them as one submission or do I have to individualize them? Just trying not to bog down four judges when one can judge it.

Greetings, I've come across an idea that's got me rather curious about the likelihood of a submissions success and possible plagiarism yet I cannot quite tell whether it would be considered a Canon item or not.

I would like to create The Jedi Path which would serve much the same as the book does IRL, a historical representation of the Orders traditional teaches with certain individuals notes and comments regarding them. The problem is as suggested above, would this be considered a cannon item or would it be considered plagiarism given it's an actual book.

Could I otherwise use it as a source/inspiration if so, and include the same or similar anecdotes from the likes of Palpatine, Anakin, Luke etc.

Though I've made several submissions over the time I've been on Chaos, the factory itself is still a matter of treading on thin ice for me so do forgive me if this has already been laid out clear for others somewhere...-I have however noticed that this item is not in the cannon list and would therefore love to make good on it myself.

Thanks!

If you are creating a book that details exactly what was in the Jedi Path, then yes, it would be a canon item. If you are saying it was created by a canon character, then yes, it would be a canon item.

If you are just making a book, written by you to display your own version of events and histories for chaos history, it wouldn't be a canon item.

I've been gone a long time it seems. Factions have died. The Map is strange to me. Rules and restrictions have changed to the point I don't have any idea what to do with myself.

Question is in regard to company advancement.

New layout-
Sign a contract with three player-run organizations, one of which must be a major faction
Display growth through two passive expansions of your company.
Display growth through two active expansions of your company.
Successfully complete a project of sizable proportions.

I have a bunch of old stuff, and I want to know where I stand as far as advancement goes.

-O.S. contract (done while One Sith was Major) {x}
-Merc Work for The Black Ties {x}
-Merc Work for The Vanguard {x}
-G.H. Corporation contract {x}
-Arm's Deal {x}
-Hiring a new Soldier {x}

And I have plenty of products I can use to fill in some gaps. I know I need the sizable 100 post project still, but otherwise what is needful for me to advance?

Edit- the hyperlink in the company area brings you to the archived Factory Q&A

So... question. I haven't thought of this until now, but do I need to put Razel's type of Vibrosword in factory? Or, hell, any part of him? Other than him being a huge cyborg, his blade can be overcharged to heat a lot... does that require a factory post? And if so, how would it be handled rule wise? Since rule number one is:
Codex & Factory submissions may only be introduced into role-play threads whose start date begins after the submission's approval date.

The factory is optional unless you have been reported and are requested to submit your item by staff, however if you would like to submit it you can but it can only be used after the submission has been approved - only in threads started after the submission is approved.

If they fulfill something similar to what is in active or passive expansions, you can use them for tier ups. They just have to be complete threads.

Passive Company Expansion Objectives

- Attend or host an economic summit
- Defend your company, another company, or a faction from a hostile attack
- Invest in another company or faction
- Train your company's personnel
- Draw up or steal schematics for a new product
- Draw up deals with another corporation or faction
- Provide philanthropic donations, fundraising, or contributions
- Make three mass-produced products in the Factory. (For Tier 2+ and equals to one passive company expansion)
- Make three company operations specific submissions in the Codex. (For Tier 2+ and equals to one passive company expansion)

Active Company Expansion Objectives

- Establish another operation for your company
- Establish a sphere of influence on a planet or in a sector
- Establish or help establish a colony
- Establish or help establish a new location
- Participate in a planet's colonization
- Recruit personnel into your company
- Secure investors for your company
- Train another company or faction's personnel

When I created my company for my Jedi Artisan, the workshop system didn't yet exist.

Is there anything that I need to do in order to convert my Tier 1 company into a Tier 1 workshop? Do I even have that option for a company created prior to the workshop rules?

Submit a company modification using the workshop template. If any information pertaining to the actual company itself though changes (such as locations, operations, etc) you will need to provide threads documenting the changes. If it's just a template change, no threads required.
