For all new rebels, about to take their first steps... (GA dominion of Lothal)

[member="Kaileann Vera"][member="Seamus Valik"]

He didn't need the Force to see how on edge the girl was now. It once again struck Jacen that it could not be pleasant to be stranded out here alone and have strangers appear out of the dark. And then to have one grope you.

Both his hands came up, palm outwards. “Sorry, sorry,” he said, slowly, looking towards her and meeting her startlingly round, hazel eyes again. As a sign of his intention he backed off half a step. Confusion was etched into his face as he tried to work out what the feth was going on. "I can't sense you in the Force and you can take down a big man in a heartbeat. Got me on edge is all," he said softly.

He slowly turned back to the man who was on one knee. “You can keep your hands where I can see them. Touch her again and if she doesn't break your hands with that torch I will. Now what's this about Talon?”

Tea?

The boy hadn't been eating or drinking much of anything of late. The flavor seemed diminished. Even when he did choke down food, the hunger remained. Nothing satisfied the craving that gnawed at him. It was nothing physical. The medical droids even noted that the boy's physical digestive tract seemed to be shrinking. Whatever this thirst was, it was something medical science was at a loss to explain. "Yes, sir," the adolescent answered meekly, moving to sit with the elder Anzat as the man poured the water from a thermos. "Thank you."

The gesture made the youth mindful of the time he'd spent with his own master, a Thisspiasian with an affinity for grub tea. A brewed concoction made with bark. Very strong. Very bitter.

For himself, the boy picked up a packet that appeared to be kosh. Steeping that into the water, the boy was quiet for a few moments, as though trying to gather his thoughts and determine what he wanted to ask. Their species was rare. To have an opportunity to have such a discourse with another of his kind was more than a once-in-a-lifetime moment. In one hundred years, Tilund was the first Anzat that the boy had come across. "Do you ever find that..." He'd stopped, because he'd convinced himself that it was, perhaps, a dumb question.

And yet, here they were, about to enjoy something that the youth had been prepared to abandon. Drinking tea was the past time for humans, and their near-human appearance was one that was less than skin deep. Wolves in human clothing. Wetting his lips, he found the courage in himself to let loose the remainder of that doubt. "...that food doesn't taste the same?"

The food wasn't what had changed, of course. Sor-Jan's tongue no longer craved the taste of grain or meat or cheese... it was something else entirely that he wished to drink of. And it scared him to the depths of his soul.

"How do you..." the boy began, pausing as he pulled the tea bag from out of the brewed water. How should he end that sentence? How do you stop from eating brains? From murdering those around you? From letting go the false trappings of humanity that you've spent a lifetime cultivating? "...control your appetite?" he asked finally, glancing up at the man as he did.

Faratain turned on his saber staff. The weapon felt good in his hands, it felt right, it seemed to resonate with the core of his being. The Blade was a vibrant, electric blue. Indeed, when he swung the blades they seemed to crackle with an energy that seemed to match his own enthusiasm.

Faratain practiced some of the basic saber staff motions and dual blade motions he had learned while being trained by the cult and found that it was easier to coordinate moves and positions with this weapon than it had ever been with any other weapon he had used. He went through the form I positions he had done, while not polished they were done with accuracy and precision and there could be no complaining about them. Faratain even started to do some of the form II positions he had learned although these were mostly clumsy and rough attempts but they were a start.

Faratain tested the detaching and reattaching mechanism of the two blades and found that it functioned to his liking and was rather fluid. He got so enthusiastic in his swing and testing that he slashed a wall, not damaging it horrible but scratching t, melting a few crystals.

"Hopefully, the force will forgive that little transgression with meditation and the fate of the galaxy did not depend on those crystals" Faratain commented.

He turned off his saber and looked at his master. "This is an incredible experience. But I heard reports of Jedi-Sith battles on the way here perhaps we should assist our allies?"

Nubica observed her Apprentice in action. His movement with the staff was fluid and well practiced. The damage to the walls was unfortunate but not the greatest accident the galaxy had ever witnessed. But his style and grace were to his credit and she knew instinctively he was a natural with a saber - which would make training all the easier when the time came.

"I have heard the same reports and I'm sure we can lend a hand - but follow my lead. No unnecessary risks. Understood?"

She began to lead them out of the caves. "Tell me, where did you hear of a Sith presence? That should be our destination." In truth, she couldn't wait to use her new saber - and where better than in the presence of a Dark-sider?

Objective: Search feelings for an answer to that.

Allies: Obvious, ain't it?

Enemies: None.

It was a strange feeling to be on Lothal again.

Mira hadn't set foot on the planet since herself and [member="Lilin Imperieuse"] had gone to the planet a few years back and retrieved a Loth cat, Mira wondered what had happened of the pet that Lilin had wanted. Mira had no real luck catching one - they were quite elusive in their own right. For now, she had stuck with a mechanical companion. At first, it was Sneaker, then it was Pixel - the blue and white BB unit. She had to admit, Pixel made a good companion when things came down to the wire, but then there were times like Hoth when he could easily be shut down by the hand of another. That is where a Loth cat would have come in handy, or maybe some other form of organic pet. Maybe something to look at later on down the road - for now, she was here and wasn't quite sure what she was doing. The Force had guided her here - perhaps it was to assemble the new lightsaber she had acquired the parts for, or maybe it was to help with the kyber crystal retrieval, or maybe it was just to pull guard for the Alliance forces on the ground. She wouldn't assume nor would she question - she would just follow.

Wherever the Force guided her, she went.

It seemed that Lothal was that place.

Mira kept herself seated on the edge of the Starfury, a leg dangling off the nose of the starfighter. She would stare out into the open plains before her - somewhere out there was an answer, one she was bound to find. With a sigh, she'd bring her leg up and sit cross legged on the edge of the fighter. She would begin to inhale slowly and exhale roughly - repeatedly as she reached outwards through the Force. She could feel the tingling echoes of the Force surrounding her, tiny wisps of energy swirling about like rain droplets caught in a torrent of wind. Further and further she'd reach across the plains, searching for the answer as to why she was brought here.

Faratain Listened to his master as they walked out of the cave side by side. "I understand master. No unnecessary risks" he repeated to ensure his understanding and compliance to the instruction.

When they reached the entrance of the cave Faratain was pleased to see that his speeder was there but surprised to see how much time had passed. Nonetheless, he walked over to the speeder and turned on its Navi-computer. "Before I left one of the masters gave me the coordinates of a large kyber crystal that had been discovered on the planet, said that if at all possible we should go there and try to secure it. I bet we'll find some Sith there". Faratain said as he plugged the coordinates into the Navi-computer. "There" he pointed to a blip on the screen. "Those are the coordinates."

"We can take this speeder, or if you've got one I can send you the coordinates and I'll follow you there"

They made their way out of the caves quicker than the inwards journey — but then time was of the essence, and there was no longer a need to search, just exit.
Nubica sensed others as they travelled. Not close, but near enough to register. There were no doubt many caves around here with crystals, so it could be those that she picked up. Or Jedi searching for crystals of course.

She watched [member="Faratain"] check out his speeder. Listening, she nodded at his approach. “I was aware of the find, but didn’t know Sith had spotted it too. If that’s the case, we should hasten to the location.”

"My speeder is hidden near here. Give me the coordinates and I can meet you there. Don't engage anyone until we meet up. A dead Jedi is of no benefit to anyone.”

With that she walked off to recover her speeder. Punching in the coordinates, she set off, aware she was now five minutes behind her Padawan.

The youngish man looked confused as he looked from the girl to the Jedi Master. He had already proven she was present and not some illusion or apparition, why would he need to touch her again. The girl was not in need of further testing, Her lack of force signature was from something interfering with the ability to sense her. It was that simple really.

"Why would I touch her again? I've already proven she is not an illusion or apparition." he said oblivious to the fact that groping was frowned upon in nearly every circumstance. "The reason you can't sense her is from some interference because as I've shown, she is indeed here."

He kept his hands in plain view as ordered while he knelt still too confused to stand.

"Now, as I was going to say, " he began after a moment of watching the woman's pet and looking back toward Jacen, "I came to inform you that Master Vosra has died."

[member="Jacen Voidstalker"] [member="Seamus Valik"]

Well, while Kaile couldn’t sense the Force or intent, she was a Lorrdian and those abilities allowed her to see the measure of truth within the Jedi’s words. None the less, her flashlight still swung from right to left between Mr. Handsy and Grimy Cave Jedi diver.

Bobo ran up her shoulder and stood up with his chest popping out. He gave them both a narrowed stare with his beady black eyes. One could almost believe he gave the, Yeah, keep back!

A few more seconds and Kaile managed to calm down. Okay, now he could get that he was a little bit wary, and had a right to it. Most people didn’t realize that Bobo was a Ysalamiri; definitely considering how tiny he was. Because of his genetic manipulation, Bobo was stuck in perma youngling lizard mode - at least that is what she called it. He was a midget, a mutant. His area of effect with the Force null bubble was normally based on the immediate location of the person he was using as his perch.

That’s why Kaile wasn’t able to be felt through the Force, and why in turn, she couldn’t sense anything through the Force. It had it’s perks. But it also had some pretty harsh consequences.

Nibbling on her lower lips, she would glance again at them both.

“It’s just a Force Null bubble.” she explained.

The light would flash left and right. That’s when the buck dropped when the Mr. Handsy said that someone died.

"Oh," Jacen said quietly, his face dropping. That was difficult to swallow so suddenly. The girl's flirtatious nature was pushed to the back of the mind as he thought back to the last time he had seen Master Vosra. Jacen had been broken not long before they met. Left for dead on the field of battle by a Sith. During that time in hospital he had gathered the resolve to return to the Jedi Order. He knew how it worked and how likely it was that they would take him back. In his youth he'd been firmly kicked out on his rump by the Order and that failure had hung over him ever since. Yet Talon had given him his chance of redemption. He'd taken him back in, helped him find his feet. He'd always seemed a kind man to Jacen, a smile never far from his face.

Now he thought on it, Jacen had hoped to return to visit him some day soon. Perhaps he had hoped that Talon would have expressed some pride in what Jacen had done with the final chance he had been gifted. That perhaps would have helped him draw a line under a chapter of self-doubt that had gone on for far too long.

His eyes turned to [member="Kaileann Vera"]. "I see," he replied in a monotone voice. It was clear that his interest in her nature had faded. His attention quickly returned to the other Jedi.

"How?" he demanded, more firmly than he had intended.

Faratain traveled across the planet's surface at a quick pace. He knew that he and his master had lost valuable time but it was necessary. Still, if they wished to secure the crystal they must hurry.

As he approached his location he noticed the opening to a cave similar to the one he had found his own crystal in. If it was anywhere the giant crystal was bound to be in there. Upon closer inspection of the cave, he felt his connection with the force increase. The crystal must be in there.

He collected himself and prepared his mind for battle while he awaited his master.

Nubica's progress was slower than her Padawan's. For a start she was unable to set off without doing some advanced research. Sith was a catch-all phrase that could mean anything.

What she uncovered, or at least what the data was telling her, was that what they might face was not necessarily the One Sith but a different regime. The First Order. She knew little to nothing about them. Except they were cut from a similar cloth to the Sith - at least from her perspective.

And their Force Users. Sith? Perhaps? They did not refer to themselves as such but as something else. In truth, as Nubica saw it, you either used the Dark or the Light-side. You can live in a stable, but unless you had four legs and a tail, you couldn't call yourself a horse. Sith? Knights? It mattered little. They needed to be stopped. Pure and simple.

So she was a little behind her Padawan and hoped he wouldn't get up to too much mischief before she arrived.

Objective: Find the interesting Force nexus and inspect it.

Mira continued to press, continued to reach out with the Force and then stopped – she found it. It was a small cave with an overwhelming presence in the Force. Ripples of energy that pulsed through the ethereal waters that she was immersed in. She waited for a moment before letting go, eyes opening to stare upon the horizon. It was less than half a kilometer to the south-west from here, not a bad little walk. Maybe she would spot a Loth cat or two on her way, maybe she could convince one to follow her around and then snag it up before it decided to flee like they always did. Damned things, so elusive. They were adorable though, she had to admit that. Mira took a moment to gather her things and lock down the Starfury before she set off into the blades of tan grass. They were tall, almost as tall as she was – she remembered the last time she came to Lothal that she and Lilin got lost multiple times while just trying to find each other.

Had it not been for the Force, well they probably wouldn’t have succeeded as well as they did.

As she trekked on, she would leave a large beaten path behind her – if all worked out well, she would be able to just follow the beaten path back. Things hadn’t been going the way they should have for her, so there would be no surprise if she came out and the brush had rose back up to its normal state.

No surprise at all.

OOC: Stardust has permitted Ben and I to continue on without her in the thread over PM. Morcus and all FO PCs please take note we will be going from Ben's post where the droids were swarmed by Loth-bats.

The shrieking Loth-bats had swarmed the B1 battle droids who fired wildly in some attempt to defend themselves. The Bith realised that the automatons had to be stopped as their errant energy bolts could damage the kyber crystal. "Come on, Ben, we have to stop them!," Dune shouted.

He suited his own words, wading in with his lightsaber raised. He brought the blue blade to bear with the wide slashes of Form I, taking apart several distracted droids. Aware now of the threat in their midst, some turned and began to fire on Dune instead. The Bith brought the weapon in close, deflecting several bolts before redirecting one into the torso of it's shooter....

Seamus slowly stood with his hands up at shoulder height palms out as he patiently obeyed the direction to keep his hands visible. That lasted until he heard the creature was a miniature Ysalamir. Calmly he turned and began looking at the creature and doing his best not to try and touch it.

"What does it eat?" he asked staring at it, "Does it have any health issues from the mutation? Does it show any signs of psychological imbalance?" he rambled off until he remembered why he was there and heard the stern "How?" from the Jedi Master.

"I'm still investigating, Master, but it seems he was attacked by someone using a razorbug and then he used the force to become a petrified tree." he made an odd face, "That sounds a great deal more far fetched than it did in my head."

Faratain waited for quite some time for his master. He became slightly impatient, he felt that there was an urgency in securing the crystal; but decided it was overall better to wait for his master than rush in and go against her order, on top of the fact that he might risk death - not that he couldn't handle himself.

In the face of a lack of objective Faratain decided to put his situation to good use. He chose a place to stow himself above the mouth of the cave and decided to keep watch in case of any enemies that might try to go in the cave and meditate, hoping that the force might give him some insight as to the current situation. it wasn't as active as he had hoped and was certainly far from ideal, but it's the most he could do for now until he heard from his master.

When Jules hauled himself up out of the cave he sprawled on the ground for awhile, panting. Distant voices told him that the group from before was still gathered. He huffed out a breath and just stared up at the sky. The stars were so pretty. He tucked his hands under his head and closed his eyes. Crux felt the breeze slip through these crags of rock, and felt peaceful within himself. He took a deep relaxing breath and then sat up to see what was going on with the little party. It would take him a little while to get back, though. He was in no rush; and they were all crowded up for some reason. One was kneeling. The girl was backed away. How odd.

Well, by all accounts, things were getting pretty serious.

A bit too serious.

Her concern over the matter was paused by the questions about Bobo. Still have stunned, she could only comically gape a bit. Blinking rapidly, her mind raced in conflict between wanting to ask questions and answering his own. Mr. Handsy was now peering at her curiously; no he was studying Bobo like a curious curio.

In response, Bobo blew out his tongue at Seamus.

"Ah... well.. uhh... He likes carrots." complications? Well Kaile never really bothered to go studying the real ones. She just kinda... adopted Bobo. "I... don't know, he just... does what he does."

Another glance would shift over towards Jacen. With the way both of their body-language read to her, they didn't really mean her any harm. At least, the intent wasn't there.

She slowly lowered her flash light.

Luckily for Ben, droids were fairly helpless against Shien when their primary weaponry were blasters. Granted, Ben was no master when it came to The Perseverance Form, but he had been practicing the dulon that he had learned from that blue Silver Sanctum Jedi on Voss every morning since his trip. He launched himself forward, placing himself and his blade directly in the path of oncoming blaster bolts. He was a flash of emerald, striking at the streaks of glowing crimson and redirecting them with more velocity. He could feel himself releasing into his instincts, trusting his saber to guide him. One droid fell to the ground with a metallic clang and menacing sizzle. Two. Six. There was chaos all around as the bats began to flee the cave through the opening that the First Order had created. Ben wasn't sure if he had caused any harm to the bats; his attacks had been broad and unfocused, leveled not only against the droids that had presented an immediate corporeal threat.

Ben seemed to forget Dune entirely in his trancelike offensive. He vaguely remembered a warning given by Boo upon teaching Ben Form V--something about aggression leading to the Dark Side. Ben was not in a position to stop himself, now, however. One moment of hesitation, and he knew he could expect a blaster bolt in the back. He spun his blade precisely, fiercely, connecting with one incoming shot after another. He was emboldened by success and by the power that emanated from the kyber crystal, he had never felt so in tune with his own sense of focus. His own sense of strength.

Perhaps he had gone too far, too fast.

At least his intentions were correct: the First Order had to be repelled from Lothal. This was not only Ben's home, but the home of the Jedi Order. He maintained steady breathing, trying to center himself within the chaos of battle. It felt like it was working, although it was not. Ben was not skilled enough in meditation techniques to maintain his calm in the heat of a maneuver like this. His emerald blade impaled a battle droid swiftly and viciously. He was dangerous, but he did not know it.
