Jedi Robes felt different from the silky, thin Sith Robes Krux Mullarus were used to. It felt like wearing a bunch of blankets. It was quite comfortable, really. Still, Krux felt a bit out of place here on Lothal. He could feel, and even see the dozens of lightsided presences on the planet. Along with that, there seemed to be an intense, powerful presence nearby that he couldn't make out. It didn't feel light or dark, just...big. Krux was still getting used to his new strengths born of the Light side, rather than the Dark. In fact, many Jedi may feel the presence of a Sith within the cave he dwelled in. Despite Mullarus' new allegiance to the Silver Sanctum and the Jedi, his aura and features were still shifting from Dark to Light.

With his comfortable white robes and his symbolic mask over his face, Mullarus scoured the cave, completely defenseless with nothing but his trust in the living Force, for a vein of crystals he could use in the construction of a new lightsaber to replace Bleeding Cross - the iconic violet-bladed crossguard lightsaber he refused to carry any longer. The amount of innocent blood he had spilled with it gave it an eerily-disturbing dark aura that was almost physically painful to hold in his hands. It reminded him of his past life as a Sith Knight. Of Setzi. The emotional trauma he suffered that led him here to trek the path of the Jedi, seeking serenity.

The cave system was complex. Often, Krux felt he was going in circles. Still, he found no crystals, continuing to wander the cave. Suddenly, he felt a familiar presence nearby. It was a stamped, branded aura. One he never actually had met before, but the boy's aura was...carrying the mark of a past enemy, now an ally.

Whirling to face his shooter, Dune was careful to deflect the shot away from the Kyber crystal. He charged in, slicing the rifle from the spindly droid's hands before decapitating it. Between Ben and himself, the droids lay in smoking, sparking piles of scrap in under five minutes.

A droid toro, missing it's lower half attempted to crawl towards a rifle meters away. The Bith made short work of it, stabbing down and ending it's feeble attempt. He thumbed off his weapon and took a moment to catch his breath as he went to examine the large stonethankfully despite the droid's mind numbing stupidity.

"Thank the Force that the crystal is safe," he said as he turned to face his friend. His expression became one of concern as he saw the wild look on Ben's face. The human's shoulders rose and fell with his breathing but his lightsaber was still held ready in two hands. "Ben..." began the Bith.

Dune had to fight the urge to step back when the other Padawan turned his head to regard him. "Ben, it's over. We have to hurry and cut the crystal out." That look was full of bestial fury, not like Ben Corscifine at all....

After meditating for some time, Faratain discovered a dark presence he hadn't felt in the cave before. Faratain jumped down from his perch and followed the presence inside. He let the force guide him to the presence and found a man. He received confusing signals from the man's aura. He could be Jedi or sith for all he could tell, although his robes indicated Jedi. Still, better safe than sorry the padawan withdrew his lightsaber, he ignited one blade, a single blue electrifying ray of plasma illuminated the dim cave. "Halt," he said confidently "Halt???" He asked himself. Who was he, a drill sergeant?

Faratain took a few steps forward. "Are you a Jedi or sith?" Faratain felt something was off about the man, he felt like he had already met him somewhere but he couldn't remember where almost as if he had met him in a dream. Faratain nervously awaited the man's response.

Didn't take long.

Not surprisingly, it seemed a Jedi student had found Krux in the cave. His aura wouldn't have been difficult to follow, of course. He wasn't surprised he even thought he was Sith. What was a bit of a surprise was how quickly the young man was to arm himself. A saberstaff? A Jedi Padawan with a saberstaff. He must have studied hard and worked for days to build such an exotic weapon. Here Mullarus thought Jedi saw lightsabers as tools, not weapons.

Oh, give him a break, he's a student. Just like you.

A student of the Jedi, but certainly not battle.

Mullarus raised his hands at his side, "Look upon me with your eyes, Jedi." Now that he thought about it, that sounded wrong. Krux was a Jedi, too, now. What should he call fellow Jedi? "See that I am not armed. Like you...i'm learning. I'm a Padawan." Krux decided to avoid the question as to why his aura felt so dark and sinister still. He was a bit surprised as well to see the young man, apparently an eldorai just like his old friend Kendrix from the Sith, said nothing in regard to his rather sinister-looking mask, befitting to a Sith or Dark Jedi. Maybe the young man was a very unjudgemental person, which was fantastic. "Did you happen to see any lightsaber crystal veins around? I'm looking for one for a new lightsaber. Nice..." he said rather calmly, staring at the electric-blue blade of the lightsaber he had pointed at him, "saberstaff, by the way...Don't see those every day."

The eldorai Padawan could probably make out the indigo eyes of the man's face behind the mask and white hood, and he could also clearly see the man was not lying when he said he was unarmed. There was not a single weapon on his waist. Was he a fool to come unprepared for the worst, or was it faith in the Force?

Finally she made her way to where her Padawan had indicated they should rendezvous. But as she closed in on his position, she sensed not one, but two Force Auras. One was Faratain – there was something about being a Master to a Padawan that gave you such insight.

The other. There was a familiarity about it – but not enough that she could identify it readily. It wasn’t Dark but wasn’t entirely Light either. She could have feared for her charge but she didn’t. He was competent and tended to follow instructions.

So she followed the cave to where she could sense them and before she could see them, she heard them conversing. Slightly relaxed, she walked forwards until she turned a corner and could see both.

She was, for once, at a loss for words. The last time she’d faced the person talking to her Padawan, she’d been transporting him to a prison ship. But there was a change in him. So she kept up a healthy level of concern but took no direct action.

“Hello again,” she said. “To both of you.”

Jacen’s face scrunched up; he was clearly troubled by this news. “He was the Jedi Master who gave me my second chance at all this,” he said quietly, as much to himself as to the others. All thought of the stranded girl’s flirtatious nature had been forgotten at this grim news.

“Are there any funeral or mourning arrangements? Where is the tree?” he asked. If it was somewhere he could get to, perhaps he could at least go and pay his respects. Death had become a regular occurrence to him. But no matter how many were lost, no matter how well-versed he became in controlling his own feelings with the aid of the Force, it still hurt each time.

Indigo eyes turned to saucers beneath his mask as he saw the familiar face of the same Vaapad-wielding Padawan that defeated him during the Battle of Balmorra. Truely, this story of him turning from the Dark Side and becoming a Jedi was already proving to be eventful.

He blinked, "Y-you...I swore I felt a familiar presence." No wonder fhe eldorai felt familiar as well. He must be her student. In order to appear a bit less intimidating, Krux reached up and removed the white hood over his head and removed the mask from his face. What stared back at the pair of Jedi was the face of Krux Mullarus. Dark Side corruption still plagued his features, but they were beginning to fade. His hair was much shorter now, symbolic to his new start within the Jedi Order.

"I...I don't know what to say."

"You'll excuse me if I don't take advice from an adversary while he is trying to kill and/or injure me," she quipped, meeting each attack with careful parries and reflects. He was skilled, she could easily give him that, and he was quite fast for a man his age. His probing attacks on her defenses were telling he had a methodical style. Another deflect and she concluded fighting this duel traditionally was not in the best interests of time.

Breaking for a moment, she twisted the handle of her lightsaber and the second blade ignited as the ring fully formed. Around her hand, the blades to start whirl at speed in violet circle of energy.

"I think you'll find us full of surprises," she said, gesturing with her free hand and sending a bolt of Electric Judgment at the dark sider in front of her.

The Count quickly extended his arm, raising his hand and deflecting the oncoming bolt of Electric Judgement into a nearby wall, before smirking. ''My turn'', he said casually, thrusting his hands forward to unleash a powerful torrent of purple-hued Force Lightning directly towards the Jedi Master, sustaining it while he attempted to blast her backwards into the nearby wall. ''A modest mockery of the real thing, my dear girl. You waste your potential on such meager training. I can feel the anger....the hate welled up inside of you. Unleash it and make this fight FAR more equal, or I'm afraid it will be over for you soon enough....''

"Been there, done that," she said, placing her spinning double bladed lightsaber into the path of his lightning and absorbing it. She used the Force to anchor herself in place while he attempted to force her back. As strong in the dark side as he was, there was still a gap between a Knight and Master in this case.

"If you're going to use dun moch, at least know what buttons to press on your opponent," she replied, slowly moving forward. Step by step, all the while she started to call on the light side, gathering it into herself ... more specifically into her hand. "I do agree with one thing you said, this fight will be over sooner than thought."

With that, she unleashed the power of the light side she had gathered in a burst of Force Light. Not as strong as it might because the small amount of time she had used to gather the Force, but it was still going to pack a wallop for any dark sider.

The Count quickly leaped up into the air, jumping over the girl and her oncoming attack before landing behind her and unleashing a volley of unnaturally fast strikes towards her back. ''Sloppy, girl. You attack where I am and not where I will be.'', he said, chuckling softly.

Typical, she thought as the dark sider dodged by jumping into the air, over her, and landing behind her to launch an attack on her seemingly undefended rear. Unfortunately for the dark sider, he would find her not too concerned by the attacks as her robes were made with cortosis-weave. So as he volleyed attacked her, she felt the heat of his blade impacting on her robes but not burning through them ... and he was much too close to dodge now.

Not bothering to respond to his taunt, she simply spun as he attacked further and her spinning lightsaber blades would come directly towards his blade, hand, arm whatever was because being close enough to take off and unleashing a powerful Force Push at his chest once her lightsaber blade attack ended.

The Count had his blade cut in half, before being pushed a good distance away, a grin upon his face. ''Very good.....I expected nothing less from a Jedi Master. Your skills are impressive, mi'lady, though you still underestimate what I'm capable of.'', he said, suddenly raising his hands up into the air. The cavern itself began shaking as the Count used the force to widen unstable cracks in the cavern ceiling, causing the very earth above them to quake, small bits of rubble starting to fall from above. ''Obviously, I can't allow you to interfere with my plans. What I have in mind is far beyond the First Order and Techno Union. You can have the crystal. I already have what I came here for.......'', he said, flashing a glimpse of a strange holocron tucked securely away in his pocket before using Force Speed to quickly disappear down one of the side passages as the roof of this part of the caverns began to tremble and slowly come apart.

As the man brought the ceiling down as he retreated, she caught the glimpse of some sort of holocron. Unsure what holocron he might have retrieved in the caves, she would think on it later. For now, she simply used the Force to stop the ceiling from collapsing on her and blocking the path. They would most likely meet again if he was a member of the First Order.

"A curious man," she mumbled, directing falling rock to the sides so as to not obstruct the path. Still, with his retreat, time to go finish the task at hand.

"Padawan Corscifine, Padawan Rhur, report on the status of the Kyber crystal?" she asked into her comlink, starting to follow the map she had to the site. She was going to see it for herself, just to make sure the two Padawans hadn't gotten into too much trouble from dealing with the dark sider's droids.

Ben stood with his friend and ally amongst the remains of the battle droids, listening to the simple, perfect droning of his brilliant green blade. He felt a sense of completion. He was satisfied by their success in combat, and especially by the role his own offensive prowess had played.

Ben had learned for the last eight years the importance of eschewing fear and anger. He had been told time and again that peace of mind is important outside of combat, because it is simply practice for times of duress. He had become today an example of the danger of these passions in situations of stress. He was overcome now by something powerful and frightening. He had allowed the Dark Side to touch his being, and he had used it for the purposes of destruction. Righteous destruction, he was sure, if such a thing existed. Ben had no idea. He was sure he would be fine. There would be a time for contemplating the consequences of what he had done, surely.

He could take that time once the crystal was safely off Lothal and out of the First Order's grasp.

They had done it, they had managed to secure the crystal. As Ben got his breathing under control, Dune was already preparing himself to cut the artifact from the stone. Ben was surprised that his body was not tense, rather he felt relaxed. Almost calm. As Ben turned to join Padawan Rhur, Master Raaf's voice came through the comlink. Apparently, she had been successful in her endeavor as well. Indeed, Ben could feel an absence of the Count's dark presence in the Force.

"Master Raaf, this is Ben," he replied, "we have located and secured the crystal. We will do what we can to loosen it, and we'll await your guidance in removing it entirely from the cave wall."

Dune eyed his friend surreptitiously as Master Taeli's voice broke Ben's fixed look of concentration. He seemed back to his usual self but the Bith could feel a certain inner turmoil. That Dune chose to leave it be wasn't from apathy. Now wasn't the time and there was the matter of their assignment.

Once Ben finished speaking, Dune set about cutting some of the rock away in silence. It was painstakingly slow work but his dexterous hands and near-sighted eyes made him well suited for detailed work. Even working together, this was going to take a while. Dune hoped Taeli had driven off Morcus for good.

Chevu followed the Force to a tiny crevice in a cobweb-covered nook in a of the vaults that seemed to be dilapidated and left in disrepair. There were piles of rubble strewn about, but the Force presence was clearly coming from one of them. The Mirialan's gaze dropped to her BB-eight unit.

"What do you think, little buddy? Got a shovel in there somewhere?"

A click and a whistle came, then some very excited beeping. Two Bit was always glad to do something other than follow Chevu around. A manipulator arm extended from the droids, roly-poly body and began to dig. Even more excited beeping rang out in the caverns when Two Bit found it. Covered in debris, and almost impossible to notice, was a cobalt shard. It was some kind of gem stone, that much was clear, but Chevu had no idea what kind. All she knew was that there was Force power radiating off the thing, with a light that was stronger the suns of Moorjhone.

What did she find? She'd have to take it back to Sullust Temple to be analyzed, but she surely one of the masters there would know.

Things were getting pretty serious, and Kaile didn’t want to end up taking their attention away. Somethings are better left for the parties responsible. As much as Kaile was the sort to lend a hand, this one seemed to be out of her jurisdiction. Not to mention, one of them had been handsy!

As they stepped away from her speeder, Kaile lowered and secured the hood. It was time for her to go. It wasn’t a completely wasted effort. During her earlier run, while she had been searching for a good place to find a comm connection, Kaile stumbled over a curious little patch of crystal growth. It had been as big as her fist, and really pretty. Honestly, she only found it due to the glint from her flashlight.

Unbeknown to her, because she had Bobo, Kaile didn’t realize that this was a Kyber crystal clutch. To her, it was just a neat and pretty shiny to add to her rock collection. After all, who didn’t like collecting rocks?! Free hobby was the best hobby!

She had it in the small satchel in her speeder, something that she’d show Kurt later. Kaile did enjoy showing off whatever little trinkets she’d found, her small room inside the Messa turning more and more into her home than she’d ever expected it to be.

That thought made her smile.

With a small wave of thanks, and ‘Good luck,’ Kaile bid her goodbyes.
