It was a pretty exciting spectacle, all things considered: The bats and droids locked in a sort of chaotic dance, from which the three Force adepts were safe behind this Twi'lek mercenary's barrier. Although this Twi'lek was clearly powerful, she had to see that Ben and Dune were at an advantage here. Her energy was being used to keep the bats off of her and the boys. Sure, she could engage in a saber duel, but her ability to keep the barrier up required that at least a portion of her focus be elsewhere.

Dune and Ben were both somewhat capable with Soresu, the lightsaber form best for defense. Dune had learned some from Corvus Raaf, Grandmaster of the Order, and Ben had studied Soresu under Knight Barrien Siegfried. Between the two of them, they could hopefully repel the offensive of a half-focused single opponent. Soresu seemed the correct choice to Ben--they did not need to defeat this Twi'lek. They just needed to hold her off long enough to stop her from securing the massive crystal before Master Raaf or Knight Tionne or both came to their aid.

Dune was making the usual Jedi plea for nonviolence. The right call, Ben thought. The two of them would only last so long once the fighting started--best to buy as much time as possible. Ben stared cooly into the eyes of the tall Twi'lek, adding to Dune's calmness with a measure of unwavering confidence. This woman wouldn't be easily shaken, but maybe she could at least be convinced to take some time to consider it.

"And this won't be worth it to you once the much more powerful Jedi who are right behind us arrive. You'll be treated by the Alliance as just as much an enemy as the ideologues of the First Order. You won't escape their retribution."

For safety's sake, Ben assumed a Soresu guard, breathing deeply and listening to the sound of his lightsaber. The clamor of the bats and droids was drowned out. Ben was calm. Ben was ready.

Well things escalated quickly!

Kaile barely had enough time to react, the full grope making her jump with surprise. Eyes went wide and her jaw fell in sudden shock. He came out of nowhere! Granted, Bobo was not amused.

He scuttled down Kaile's shoulder and went to defend Kaile's honor. A red tongue went snapping out to try and flick as Semus's right eye. Granted, this was around the same time Kaile reacted. She had been after all, a Yum Bunny waitress and a Pyre trained sleeper agent. She had basic self defense down pat.

All she had to do, was S.I.N.G. Maximum damage with the least amount of force.

Left elbow to the solar plexes, a stomp of her boot to his instep, right elbow to the nose, and then a closed fist smack right to the groin!

S.I.N.G.!

So she sang.

Nubica smiled and led the way into the cave.

When she’d found her crystal on Ilum, it was in so many ways like every other crystal – it’s Force signature seemed neutral to her. But since then, she’d researched and spoken to many Jedi and knew this meant one thing. None of the crystals there were right for her. The one she held in a small pouch in her pocket was a fine crystal. It worked — but it was not her crystal.

“Seek your crystal, I shall do the same. Once we have the one we seek, we should speak again and take it in turns to craft our sabers. To say the ritual words. And…I don’t know how true this is, but I’ve heard it said…the Jedi doesn’t choose the crystal, it is the other way around. So please, be patient and wait for the right crystal to call to you. How it will do so, I cannot say. But trust in the Force.”

Although all of the crystals were imbued with the Force, each Jedi was supposed to feel that it was, in some way, special to them.

As she stepped forward into the white glow that was the crystal cave, she wondered if it would be the same as Ilum..

But as she turned the final corner she was amazed to see so many crystals. The majority were clear, ranging to pure white but every colour of the rainbow was evident here. As she gazed into the cavern, with its many tunnels leading off it, she wondered how she could choose just one from what must be thousands stretching as far as the eye could see?

So she did what she’d failed to do enough the last time she looked.

She used the Force.

Using Force Sight, the cave was actually brighter than to her naked eye. Perhaps they were all perfectly good crystals to use? No, that didn’t feel right. So she followed the Force and walked maybe a few hundred metres through the cavern and down a particular tunnel. At the end of the tunnel the rock narrowed and the crystals thinned. But the light was no less intense. One crystal stood out to her. She opened her eyes. Oddly, the crystal looked the same as any other without the benefit of the Force, simply a translucent gem.

"GO GO GO!" Sibar's voice echoed through the halls of the academy. It didn't seem like anyone was there but they needed to stay alert in case Sibar was mistaken. The sound of squads footsteps bounced off the academy walls. "Which way to the underground Major?" Sibar shook his head. When they reached a cross in the academy Sibar looked down the hallways they could go through. "Mike, Oscar, Rhod, you three go to the right hall, Alex and Newt take the left, Jax and Henry stay with me and we go straight." The incinerators all nodded and took the path they were told to. It was risky splitting up but it was their best choice.

Descending through the basements of the former Imperial Command compound had not been difficult. In the hundreds of years since the Empire had been driven off, the government had reclaimed the building, then sold it off to companies. What had been home to those that subjugated millions of systems, was now home to everything from communications providers to start ups selling glorified napkins. The upper tiers of the basements had been cleared away for storage for the companies up above, as well as telecommunication lines that serviced the building and janitorial bots and their attendant maintenance personnel. The further down Harm went, however, the less populated the building became. Before very long he descended from the basements to the foundation. The foundation was honeycombed with access into subterranean caverns, several outfitted with pumps to bring groundwater to the building in case of emergency, and likely others to be used to escape, should such have been needed.

Harm stood for a few moments trying to figure which of the entrances would lead to his quarry. He wasn't worried about getting lost down here, he had communicated with an Alliance command ship in orbit. They were extending their protection to this planet, and Harm would use such protection if it was available. He'd informed them that he was pursuing a lead on supposed dark side cults in the area, transmitted where he was going and his proposed time table. They had told him that they would pass it on. Whether anyone showed up to help him wasn't his call, but he was sure he wouldn't get lost and stranded.

After a few moments of looking around, he got a strange sensation of deja vu. This was reminding him of something. Harm paused in his search for clues to think about it, think back. His mind didn't have far to go.

-Three Months Ago-

The green skinned force ghost of Laranth Tarak looked back at him as he descended the final incline into what could only be called a cavern. The rock ceiling was far enough overhead that it was lost to darkness. The walls on the far sides were likewise lost, the only light came from the hand torch he carried and light reflecting from various crystals lining the edges of symbols carved into the floor. Harmon stepped closer, until he was fully within the circle of symbols, then stopped and waited.

"I am willing to bet you're wondering what is going on." Laranth's force ghost said after a few minutes of silence.

"Yeah, but I've learned that waiting often reveals enough, if not everything." He replied with a smirk. He'd learned, from their fairly short association, that he wasn't going to be able to pull anything out of her if she didn't want to tell him. Her stubborn streak was far larger than his. Which made sense, for a force ghost to be able to manifest this long after their death.

"Well, learning is the reason. You're a damn good instinctive shot, you have pretty good training too. You don't, however, have a lick of training with the force." She started. "I know you've heard the spiel that the force is generated by all living creatures and connects us all, binds us, penetrates us, yadda yadda. It is all that, but it can also be a crutch. If you come to rely on only the force to keep yourself alive, then you will be unable to cope if you lose connection to it. Such has happened in the past, and can happen in the future. You don't really have to worry about that though, you've gone your whole life without it. What we need to do, is teach you how to augment your training and natural ability with the force. It is an invaluable tool."

"Alright..." Harm said as he looked around himself. "...how do we begin?"

"Sit." She commanded. He nodded and slid down to the ground, sitting cross legged. "Good. Now, turn off the light."

"The light..." He paused for a moment, then turned it off. He had the pit of fear in his stomach, he didn't know where he was aside from very far underground. She had earned his trust, however, so he decided to trust her.

"Excellent. This next part shouldn't be hard, but it will be a foundation for everything that will follow."

What followed was hours of training. The first thing he did was learn to touch his center, the place where the force both emanated from him, and crossed through him. They spent hours while he learned to feel it instinctively, this connection to the force, and through it everything else. From there he learned to push his senses out, to feel the things and people around him. In that cave, he felt minor eddies in the force around each of the crystals. After still more hours, he was able to see the symbols that were limned in crystals upon the ground, though their meaning still escaped him. After roughly ten hours of training that day, they rested. She taught Harm some meditative techniques to help him recover his stamina faster than sleeping.

In all they spent a week down in the dark of that cave while Harmon learn some important force skills. He had explored the cave with his senses through the force, and was sure he could find the cave again for their next training session, but he couldn't spend all of his time in training.

-Present Day-

Thinking back to that first of many such training sessions, Harm realized that he had fallen back into his old habit. He had a connection to the force, and could use it. He cleared his mind and found his center. Through it he found his connection to his surroundings. Pushing outward with his senses, he sought out the feel of the dark side. It permeated the whole area, but after several long minutes, he found the trail. He crouched by the entrance to the cave he was going into and made a series of marks to indicate that he had gone this way, in case anyone was following him. He then stood, and continued his hunt.

"Where did he come from?" Jules pondered. The third man in this now-heavily-oriented encounter seemed to crop out of absolutely nowhere, as though he were part of the tall grass this whole time.

His antics were bold, and that was coming from a smuggler. The momentary surprised amusement of the posterior perusal was quickly replaced, however, by utter shock when the girl retaliated. Whichever way that scuff went, her reaction and reflexes were amazing. Crux wished he could fight like that, but the thought he entertained was lost when he realised Jacen had pretty much given him an invitation to explore the caves.

"Well, it's been fun, but ah... I'm gonna go see a cave about a crystal. Anyone wants to come along, it's fine with me!" and with that, he practically skipped away to the faint glowing. It grew brighter as he neared, until with a swoosh and a thud, he slipped into the cave entrance and landed simply within the hole. His first impression was that it was very humid in here, and that distant drip drip was very distracting. Then a chill ran up his spine, around his shoulders, and up his jaw. His whole body felt somehow electrified, and then he felt drawn deeper. He shook his head to get the fuzz out; but now he was curious. The young man followed the tingles in his chest and butterflies in his stomach further within, deeper into the caves.

Location: Lothal Starport

Lothal was too far from Hutt space or the Republic for a McYodas, but there was a Biscuit Baron.

Traffic around a spaceport was too transient and younglings constituted too much of a market for there not to be some kind of fast food in a place such as this. As such, the Nautolan feasted on a jolly meal. The toy was kind of disappointing though.

Sipping on a youngling-size cup of Fizzuglug, the boy's large, black eyes watched as transports and shuttles shuffled in, out, and above the Lothal sky. The park was still relatively quiet, leaving him peace in which to resume his practice. Taking a break from lunch, the boy pulled out his HoloBoy, dialing through the current streams on the HoloNets for urban dance. Pausing on one video, the child streamed the data and then called up a three-dimensional rending of the video in the form of a hologram floating above the screen of the small data device.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS_DvUlrukk
Nodding his head in time with the beat of the son, the Nautolan was fixated on the timing and movement of the two dancers. The interplay between them. The starts and stops. The freeze. The practiced ease with which the two worked in tandem with one another, sharing each other's energy as the song was brought to life through the rhythm of their dance.

The boy was swaying from side to side, even as he went back to eating his kid's meal. After the jolly meal had been reduced to leftover wrappers and waste, the boy cycled back through the video again and again as he slurped on his Fizzyglug. Trying to study the movements themselves.

Setting his drink down, the boy walked around the HoloBoy on the ground. Turning to face his reflection in the mirror-like windows of the office building adjacent to the star port, the boy began to try and mimic some of the movments.

Faratain followed his master inside. Once on the interior of the cave the pull grew to the point where he could focus on nothing else. This was strange he had never felt a sensation like this before...

"trust in the force..." a voice seemed to call to him from across ages. "Of course..." he responded, almost lazily.

The force, that must be what the pull was. he remembered hearing somewhere that the crystal chose the Jedi but he could not remember where, he could only focus on getting to the source of the pull, to what must be his crystal.

he walked forward no doubt in his mind now of what he would fine. When he reached his destination he stopped. For the first time, he noticed all the crystals, all of a different size and hue. For the first time, he wondered which one was his. How would he know which one to choose out of so many?

He decided to trust the force. he shut his eyes and let the force guide him. He felt his hand grasp something small and crystalline. Just as it did the tremendous pull he felt stopped.

he gathered the crystal up and examined it. I was translucent but had a bluish-white tint to it. It appeared to be no different from the other crystals in the cavern except this one was... right, this one was his. Now that he was fully out of the trance he fully noticed the immaculate beauty of the cave, different shades of every color imaginable lit up the room which was bathed in their luminous light.

It was just then that he remembered his master must not be too far away. He clenched the crystal in his hand and went back to her.

"Nubica, I have found my crystal, I am sure it is mine. I am ready to form my light saber. but Still why don't you go first to show me how it's done."

A wave of near giddiness washed over Faratain, he had trusted in the force and achieved his goal. Now he would form his lightsaber and begin his path on the way to becoming a Jedi.

Nubica knew about the elements to construct a saber. She also knew that construction would take time and patience. She always had the latter and here, with no distractions, she had the former. She’d also researched the use of adding a cell recogniser. It was a device used to modify a lightsaber so that it will not function for anyone except those allowed by the combination of small sensor array and recognition chip installed in the handle.

She’d constructed a saber before, so she knew the drill. She found as comfy a spot as she could – given this was a cave – and sat down. She indicted her Padawan should do the same.

As she sat in the cave, she knew she had all of the elements she required to construct her saber. As she fidgeted into position, she listed them in her head and checked them off from the components laid out in front of her. Her new kyber beam crystal, the Ilum focusing crystal in its pouch, a blade-emitter matrix, various dials, a blade length adjuster, a lens assembly, a hand grip, an activation stud, a power conduit, a belt ring, a safety switch, a recharge socket, casing, a sensor array, a recognition chip, a blade lock, a beckon call.

But first she had to imbue the crystals with the Force. She opened the pouch she’d been carrying for some time now.

She closed her eyes, held both crystals in her open hands and recited the crystal code:

“The crystal is the heart of the blade
The heart is the crystal of the Jedi
The Jedi is the crystal of the Force
The Force is the blade of the heart
All are intertwined
The crystal, the blade, the Jedi
We are one”

She repeated this over and over. On occasions she was so at one with the Force that she lost track of time.

Opening her eyes once more she was interested to see that both crystals had changed in colour from clear to purple – just like the one she already used. She’d heard of crystals changing colour before of course, but was surprised it happened to her.

Slowly, carefully and methodically she began to assemble the saber. She closed her eyes and meditated. She used her Telekinetic powers to lift all of the components into the air. She detached one half of the hilt and attached the power conduit. Then she connected the recharge socket to the power conduit. Aware she was no longer breathing, she practiced Breath Control for a few moments before entering into a Moving Meditative state – allowing the Force to flow through her.

Once calmed and at one with the Force, she connected the emitter matrix to the power conduit and then attach an activation stud to the emitter matrix and slotted it under the casing. Next she added a blade length adjuster to the emitter matrix.

The schematics then called for her to place the lens assembly with both of the crystals in between the emitter matrix and power conduit before adding the safety switch and blade dial. Finally she added the sensor array, recognition chip (already set for her own DNA and midi-chlorian count) and the remaining parts. She then sealed the lightsaber and attached the belt ring.

Once more she spoke the code:

“The crystal is the heart of the blade
The heart is the crystal of the Jedi
The Jedi is the crystal of the Force
The Force is the blade of the heart
All are intertwined
The crystal, the blade, the Jedi
We are one”

Opening her eyes, she winked at her Padawan. “That’s all there is to it.”

Jacen had assumed that the man who had appeared with a loud slap of a pert rump was in fact the girl’s partner. What followed quickly disavowed him of the notion. The perky brunette moved with a fluid grace to strike him several times.

There would be no playing the honest gentleman standing up for the lady’s honour today.

“Alright,” Jacen called loudly. “Just who the hell are you both?” he asked incredulously.

The caves were damp and slippery. Jules almost lost his footing several times along the way. Nevertheless he followed that sensation of being alive that drew him deeper, propelled him forward, and led him into the depths of the unknown. Oddly enough, despite not knowing where he was, how he would get back, or how deep this cave went, he was not afraid. In fact, the closer he got to whatever this sensation was, the safer he felt. The depths of the cave grew darker as he passed the threshold of where Jacen had delved. Crux pulled out his torch and kept following the sensations until he slid down a steep slope and landed in a puddle of water. Surprise made him gasp, and he had to quickly lift himself up out of the water to cough out what he had inhaled. When he looked up, he saw the faint glow of a small crystal in the wall. It seemed to be beckoning him closer, to reach out to it. His eyebrows raised in appreciation and he found his feet. Slowly, he approached the small, faintly glowing crystal that shone like a beacon in this darkness.

Once he opened his eyes he grabbed the crystal as it floated in the air, a feeling of success came over him and he smiled a little sheepishly to himself. It was his very own crystal one of the very few possessions he would ever have as a jedi and he felt that it would be enough for him, it was an odd sensation to be sure but one he felt was a little right in it's own way. "Now I just need to make my own saber." He said as he stood and held his older saber hilt in his hand and placed the crystal into a pouch on his belt. The saber hilt was the last thing of his former life and he knew that if he was to fully commit to the jedi he had to let it go and so he did, he let it roll out of his hand and watched it fall down on to the cavern floor.
"I commit myself to the jedi order and it's ideals." He said to himself, reaffirming his decision to himself and solidifying it completely and he began to leave the cavern, repeating a mantra to himself as he walked. "Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy. Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect. Jedi respect all life, in any form. Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy. Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training."

It was magical. As Jules neared the crystal, it glowed brighter. A pearly, soft light that drew in his curiosity. He stood in front of the little charm for awhile, while it pulsed gently with that comforting glow. What was really seconds felt like small glimpses of eternity. When he finally reached out his hand to take the crystal, he reached half way then froze. He did not know why he did it, it simply felt right to do so. Another few moments of forever went by, then the small gem started to move all on its own. It wiggled out of its place in the rock and took the baby steps to escape its stone prison. When it was finally free, it merely hovered there for a moment. It turned in the air for precious seconds, then it drifted up to meet Jules' hand. Contact felt like a soothing meeting between family, and when Crux closed his hand that calling faded. It was replaced with a contentment, a knowing that he had accomplished something great. He had no idea why he had these different measures of emotion over a simple crystal, but he knew he would not part with it anytime soon. He gave it a little toss in his hand, caught it, and pocketed it away in his inner vest pocket.

Now, then. He needed to get out. He peered around him in the absolute darkness, sighed, and started feeling around to find where his torch went.

Faratain sat down as his master directed and watched her form her own light saber. He was taken aback by her skill and elegance in forging her weapon. By the time she had completed her task Faratain's mouth was open in astonishment. "I don't know if I can form it as well as you master, I may need quite a bit of time..."

With that Faratain set forth with the task at hand, he decided to begin like his master had. He set his crystal in his open-palmed hand and began to meditate on the force and his connection to the crystal. To help him focus he decided to recite the phrase his master had said:

“The crystal is the heart of the blade
The heart is the crystal of the Jedi
The Jedi is the crystal of the Force
The Force is the blade of the heart
All are intertwined
The crystal, the blade, the Jedi
We are one”
Faratain felt the crystal rise from his hand as he said this and slowly lower itself into his hand when he was done. when he looked down the crystal hadn't changed color like his masters had, but it did seem to glow brighter and was slightly more blue. "Simple enough," he thought to himself, "now for the real challenge."

Faratain unpacked all the parts Necessary for his lightsaber. Two of every part. He Laid them out in order of how they would connect. He began to meditate again, lifting the pieces into the air with great difficulty he began to assemble his blade. Matrix then lens or was it lens before matrix. Faratain's mind filled with duct and the pieces came clattering to the ground floor. "No matter," he thought to himself as he began the process for the second time. Okay now, was it the emitter shroud that went in before the energy source or...- Again the pieces came clattering to the floor as Faratain lost his concentration.

Faratain decided he was going about the task in the wrong matter, instead of guiding the force he should let the force guide him. He closed his eyes for the third time and began to meditate. He focused on his connection to the blade(s) and their importance to him. Emitter shroud, matrix, switches, lens, all fell into their correct place. Two identical hilts began to take shape. Close to the end the of the process his crystal rose a few feet in the air and by sheer force of will split itself n two, each half going to a different hilt. When the separate hilts had been completed two electromagnets attached themselves to the end of either blade and finally to each other.

The dual sabers/saber staff Faratain had created floated gently into his lap. Faratain opened his eyes and drew a deep breath as if snapping out of a deep trance. Faratain looked down at the finished product. The bronzium plated handle shined and reflected the crystals off the walls magnificently.

Faratain looked up to his master, beaming with pride. "What's Next?" he asked.

Nubica smiled at @Faratain. "Now the fun part," she said.

Stepping back, she made sure she had space and her thumb activated the saber. She'd handled plenty in her time as a Jedi. They all felt special to her but this one? Marcello was right! Her eyes shone with excitement. The connection to this blade was different to any other saber she'd ever held.

Slowly she performed a few velocities. She cycled through the Forms, one at a time, picking up speed each time. By the time she reached the seventh, she was a blur of purple light. She felt exclierated, special.

Beaming at her Padawan, she said, "That's what's next. Off you go."And with a hiss-snap, she deactivated her blade.

"Was it something I said?" he asked as his breath returned. Slowly he rose to a knee and looked at Jacen Voidstalker and the strapping figure he presented. The woman was not his actual objective but he would be watching her closely after this.

Tiland studied the boy for a moment and then gave him a gentle smile, making his way to a nearby seat and settled down comfortably, thinking. He had felt how the hope had grown after his first sentence before disappearing and the other emotions that swirled through his mind.

A fear of what he could become. Now that was something Tiland understood all too well, which he suspected was for the same reason. Now that was the struggle and always had been. As far as he knew, it would be the same for the rest of his life as well.

But how to approach such a thing? Truth was what the youth sought, so truth would be the thing to give him. Tiland leaned back for a moment and took a deep breath. This was not something he had spoken of before, perhaps for the same reason Sor-Jan now sought what he did.

"That is a truth with which I may be able to assist," Tiland said slowly, rifling through his satchel for the mugs and thermos. "Care for some tea first?" Perhaps that was not the most normal response, but it was a habit he suspected he had picked up from his short-term teacher [member="Vorhi Alestrani"].

"For I am... Anzati," He continued after several slow moments, "And that is a struggle against one's nature." He brushed some wrinkles from his robes for a moment before pouring himself some hot water, and for Sor-Jan if he so desired. He studied his herbal pouches for a few moments before selecting a few and laying them on the table.

It was the yell from the Jedi that startled Kaile even more, and her eyes went wide. She was already fretting due to getting groped out of the blue, and Bobo was having none of it. He would crawl up and down her shoulder, staring down any would be attacker as if he was the sole champion of Kaileann's honor.

Meanwhile, Kaile's heart was thumping so loud she could hear it in her ears, and to be frank she was half tempted to pull her stun gun out and take a few pot shots. Gone was her cheerful demeanor, and in its place, a very wary young woman holding her flashlight like a baton.

She may not have her morp gun out, but she can still smack someone with this!

"Why you yellin' at me for?!'" she would cry out rather defensively, a bit hurt. Brown eyes would pan from the Jedi to the guy holding his jewels. She took a step back, giving herself some space in between the two men just in case.

"Ya'll just stay in place." she suggested heavily, while she tried to consider the fact that perhaps the Jedi wasn't actually even a Jedi. Just cause one has a lightsaber didn't mean squat. Take herself for example.
