The young Anzat stopped, caught in something of a daze as he was suddenly snapped from out of his brooding and back into the here and now.

"Sorry!" The datapads scattered about his feet, dropped to the floor, as the youth reached out to help steady the person he'd knocked into. "I'm terribly sorry, I..." the teenager remarked, rambling for a moment as he caught a first glimpse at the person he'd crossed. A man. An old man. Feth, he'd walked right into some old geezer? Score one for the...

...wait...

Something was... different. Or was it the same? Taking a step back, the boy's mental defenses were immediately put on guard. Kneeling down, the youth started collecting the datapads back up. Even as he did, his mind was already racing.

What if this was another Anzat? He'd never actually met another of his own species before. Everything he knew about them was either suspect, rumor, or a result of his own experience. Hugging the datapads against his chest, the boy was struggling not to stare in awe at the presence in front of him. "My name's Sor-Jan," the young knight supplied, with a slight bow of his head.

"Are..." Are you like me? The question was on the tip of his tongue, yet he hesitated.

Afraid of the question.

And afraid of the answers.

"Are... are you looking for something, Master Kortun?" he managed finally.

Smooth, SJ. Very smooth.

Somebody interceded!

A blue Lightsaber sailed through the air and clipped Kage's slugs into a new trajectory. Giving the dark armored Jedi ally some more breathing room. With a zip of the eye the Lightsaber returned to the hand of it's master. A gray armored female who was running across the field of battle. Apt to join the fray.

"You can certainly run fast soldier. But can you dance too!"

With a Force guided push the soldierly woman sprang into the air. Her helm's visor lit up by the blue glow of her brilliant Lambent Force Crystal. An item that aided it's wielder in the subtle art of Vong-sense. Though, given that they were already engaged? This probably didn't mean a whole lot right now anyway. Besides? She had two more Lightsabers on the back of her utility belt anyway. So she was definitely ready to rumble.

She sailed through the air like a bat out of hell. Aiming to come crashing down on [member="TK-0743 Kage"] with style and gusto. Her blue blade ready to carve his helm in two.

Ben and Dune raced into the cavern and there with the antique B1 Battle Droids was a Twilek. A Force adept who had somehow gotten ahead of them. The Bith couldn't fathom how the Twilek seemed to randomly appear being that he and Ben had been first to enter the cave systems. No matter, nothing could apparently change that now. :p

"I'm afraid that you won't have the chance to sell it," Dune said as he raised his blue-bladed lightsaber in a ready stance. Beside him, he knew the other apprentice had too with his own green blade. "You will be given an opportunity to leave, unharmed, if you go now." Somehow, he didn't expect that would happen....

Jules reached in and locked that little part into place, and quickly removed his hand as the circuitry and cycle were put back into place. The vehicle fired back to life and pulled up from the ground, resting on its repulsors. He hopped down off the vehicle and let everyone back away from it before he shut the bonnet of the speeder and wiped his hands off on the lower leg of his pants. Once that was done, he followed the Jedi's, Jacen's, hand gesture and wandered toward the soft glow a bit, before turning back to the party at hand.

"Jules," he followed the politeness, "And ah, I'm... mm... I'm no Jedi. Just a humble tre-err adventurer." he gave a somewhat theatrical bow and his eyes flicked back to the designated cave entrance. Crux really just wanted to finish the business of being here, so it was done. He would not be against getting off-world right after his business was finished, but he could also stick around. It depended on the mood, really.

Poy set up her booth near her T-65XJ X-Wing. "Galactic Alliance Recruiting Pilots Now!!" she couldn't help but chuckle; it was the exact same sign she'd seen when she enlisted just after her fourteenth birthday. Several small groups of curious folk approached Poy's X-Wing and had a good look at it; even though she was a bit beat up, it could still outrun TIE Fighters no sweat. A young man - he looked to be eighteen - came up and picked up one of the brochures and flipped through it. It described life as a starfighter pilot - "The best there is!" was the main slogan. Poy's hand shot out in greeting and gripped his hand warmly. "So, you're thinking of joining our ranks huh? Let me tell you, it's the most fun you can have stationed on a battle carrier!!" she smirked, resting her arm on his shoulder, before going onto explain the daily life of a starfighter pilot.

"Can you imagine sitting around in the ready room, then all of a sudden the alarms go off. You sprint down to the hangar and climb into your X-Wing and take off into the void of space, to conduct combat patrol over a dangerous sector. You then come into contact with some enemy TIE Fighters and shoot several of them down. You complete your patrol and then make your way back to the carrier and land successfully. You will be back inside the ready room, waiting for the next alarm," it seemed to have the desired consequences - the young man was listening keenly.

"I joined when I was fourteen. I've been flying for ten years and love every minute of it. This one time, I was on combat patrol and shotdown a duo of TIE Fighters and two slave ships on their way to Orvax IV," she seemed to be drawing the young man into the Alliance. Now to seal the deal with the main kicker - handing over the application form. Poy handed it over to him, along with a rather flash looking blue ink pen.

"And what sort of rank and pay do you get when you join the Alliance?" he asked, taking a look at Poy's rank markings and squadron insignia on her distinctive orange Galactic Alliance flight suit and gaudy helmet, which was equal parts of yellow, orange and red.

"I'm a Flight Lieutenant at present, as well as Acting Squadron Leader for Scourge Squadron. You'll start off as a Cadet during training and will then be promoted to Flight Officer, followed by Second Lieutenant, Flight Lieutenant, Squadron Leader, Wing Commander, and so on, right up the chain of command. You can advance as far as you like!!! And the pay is pretty damn good if I do say so myself..." he signed on the dotted line and handed the form back over to Poy, who took it with glee. The Galactic Alliance was now up one more starfighter pilot. He said that it had been a lifelong dream of his to become a top-notch starfighter pilot, so Poy wished him the best of luck, before he went on his way.

She settled down in a chair and waited for the next interested party to come and have a look. "Galactic Alliance starfighter pilot recruitment here!!"

As the Dark Jedi ignited his lightsaber and brought it up into his own Makashi salute, she brought her saber down to her side and slowly started to circle. He was an unknown quantity to her, but then she was also an unknown quantity to him. Gaining information right now was key to developing a successful way to deal with this Dark Jedi.

Faratain had spent what had seemed like a lifetime in preparation to make his light saber. Despite the hours of agonizing study and several failed designs he finally had a model -not to mention the parts for- his own lightsaber that he felt confident with.

It was immediately after getting all the parts together that Faratain had received the holocall and the coordinates on Lothal. He hurriedly packed what few belongings he had and hopped on the closest transport he could. Once on Lothal, finding his master was a harder task. He went to the coordinates his master had given him. After not finding her he decided to holocall, she did not answer.

Faratain resorted to a different method, a sort of tracking he had used in the cult of Ashira that relied on the force. It took his several tries and about half an hour but he eventually got a vague location of his master. After securing a speeder by some... unconventional means, he found a cave in the area he sensed his master to be in.

Walking up to the cave he noticed a trail of footprints going in but not coming out, he knew his master must be inside. "Master?!" He shouted hopefully into the darkness. When no response came he decided it was time to enter.

Carefully he took a few paces into the mouth of the cave, it was pitch black all around. He realized in his haste that he must have forgotten to bring a light source... Having only one option left to him he pulled out the training saber from beneath his robes. A single blade shot out from the long staff hilt and the cave was bathed in a soft blue light.

"I'm coming..." he muttered to himself as he began his trek into the cave. The further into the cave he went the stronger the connection to his master was. But there was something else nagging at his mind. Something else was calling him from deep within the cave...

Suddenly he saw the soft glow of a light source coming from a crevasse in the wall. Quietly he walked towards it. "Master?" He asked hesitantly.

Ben and Dune arrived at the cavern just in time to encounter a large company of battle droids fortifying a position. Somehow, they had been beaten to the crystal by a company of droids and a tall Twi'lek, who--by the sensation that Ben felt in beholding her-- was strong in the Force.

How is that even possible? Ben and Dune had only been detained for a moment by the darksider before Taeli had come to their rescue. Somehow the droids had managed not only to locate the crystal, but to create an entrance route for this darksider and their own small occupation force. It seemed impossible, but by some trick of logic or fate it had all happened in the moment it took Ben and Dune to catch up.

Ben's saber sprang back to life. Its humming calmed him. The emerald blade glowed against the darkness of the cavern. He assumed a Shien ready position. Dune was a powerful Force user, and Ben was more than happy to have the Consular by his side in this moment. Working together, surely Ben's brute strength and Dune's meditative calmness would make for one successful fighting force.

Ben spoke to the Twi'lek, echoing his partner's offer, "Stand down. There are Jedi all over this planet. You can waste time, troops, and energy fighting with us, but you won't leave Lothal with that crystal, I guarantee it." Ben spun his saber, listening for its whirring hum to help focus him. He felt his body relax. Not passively, but the kind of centeredness from which any movement was possible. He raised the blade above his head, angling it away from his body. Let's see if that time learning Shien on Voss had earned him anything. He awaited a barrage of blaster bolts from the droid army, or a saber rush from the Twi'lek.

Neither of these were the thing that came next, however.

The thing that came next was a massive rumbling in the depths of the cavern system, accompanied by a resonant screeching. In a moment, the cavern was filled with the rhythmic smacking of a thousand fleshy wings on the air, and the sound of talons scraping on metal. Droids began firing upwards as turrets toppled and the very air was thick with animal clamor.

Loth-bats. Hundreds upon hundreds of them, enraged and awakened by the seismic disturbances that the First Order had created in the cave.

The animals were angry, clawing at the First Order battle droids, the Twi'lek, and the padawans alike. Ben ducked and allowed his lightsaber to de-activate, hoping the bats might manage to put a dent in the droid forces without ripping the skin off of his own bones. These bats were not small, as Ben had known loth-bats to be. Perhaps they had been mutated by the influence of the massive Kyber Crystal. Perhaps the bats in this cave were abnormally large. Only one thing was certain: all of this meddling in their home would not go unpunished.

That Ithorian xenobiologist warned us, Ben couldn't help but concede, his eyes wide with surprise.

Ben tried to remain calm, hoping that he could project enough peacefulness to avoid the onslaught of which these enraged, mutant animals were likely capable.

Tiland waited patiently while the youth picked up his datapads, trying to clutch them all and talk at the same time, before bowing his head in greeting and a faint smile.

"I am pleased, Sor-Jan, that the Force has brought us together," He sensed hesitation and almost fear at the edge of the question. Tiland leaned forward slightly to get a better look. The physical appearance was right and the feel. Anzati all felt different, as they were different. Often in a dark, gruesome way. But no, this was one light. Troubled and concerned, yes, but light. A Jedi if he had ever met one.

"And I am no master, young one," Tiland said with a smile, "I am but a wayfarer following where the Force wills. And I seek knowledge of those of my kind." A hint, but subtle, although not what he had intended at first. "Other Jedi who have followed the Force above councils or governments. I have heard rumors of such, and my own master is one. But I seek more information."

He studied some of the datapads around him. Still not the ones he was looking for and he frowned slightly and looked at the archives once more. One on Ashoka Tano and her actions in the Clone Wars and against the Empire. He studied it briefly, remembering some of the tales of her exploits.

"And what do you seek?" He glanced sideways, half-studying the younger one.

She knew he’d spent countless hours in the library. For a Jedi that was action-oriented, it must have been a challenge — but that’s what the life of a Jedi was all about after all.

She’d given him her approximate whereabouts, but now she’d wandered off. By some distance. Which should prove an interesting challenge for him, if nothing else. But he’d found her, she knew it because she sensed it. There was a particular bond between Master and Padawan. They had one recently met, but their connection was more acute than the average Jedi and peer.

It would help him find her and it was assisting her in knowing he was nearby.

Finally he was close enough that she could hear his voice.

“Ah, Faratian,” she said. “You found me. Good. The crystals are up ahead. I presume you’ve settled on a design you like and have all the parts with you?”

A wave of relief rushed over the Eldorai once he heard his masters voice. He turned off his lightsaber, he no longer had the need for it. "Yes I have a design and all the parts, it took a while, but I'm ready". Faratain double checked to make sure he had all the parts, he did. He gathered all his belongings and stood up.

Faratain took a deep breath to prepare himself. "I'm ready when you are Master". And with that, he followed his master further into the cave.

With each step, he took the pull he had felt earlier amplified. He didn't know what was waiting for him (other than a room full of crystals) but he knew right where to go to find it.

I can feel my surroundings with the Force, but I still can't feel you…

Oh really? It seemed that the splunking Jedi was all the more ready to dive deeper into holes than previously thought.

Bobo was not happy about the situation, and he crept down to give Jacen a beady black eye. Not as threatening as one may think, but the minature Ysalamiri was not liking where this was going.

Amusing, considering how friendly Kaile was.

“Is that you asking if you can?” the devilry only grew as she suddenly gave a whoop! Jules had managed to fix it.

“Oh! You did it!” she pulled out her arm, still speckled and smeared with grease and went over to give him a quick hug. Bobo was suddenly taken from his glowering perch and whipped around to meet the new fellow. His tiny clawed feet went gripping tight at Kaile’s shoulder, but she didn’t mind.

“Thank you both!” she’d add with a wink, rocking on her heels.

Stardust looked to the two who just walked into and activated both sabers a yellow and blue flash"

I'm sorry"she said to the both of them "but I can't let you have this crystal" she said as she spun her blades around and slowly walked, they felt weak probably not even a knight level, no worry for her she'd show no mercy

She stopped hearing the screech then ducked as the bats started attacking the droids around her, the droids started firing into the air to hit as many as possible to deter them from being a distraction "stupid bats" she said and rose to inhale then out shooting fire at one heading at her causing it to shriek before falling as she emitted her aura out to cause them to circle around the three"

Now then"she said and grinned as she held a blade out"I'll let you make the first moves"she said twirlkmg her blades around

Dune looked up in amazement as multitudes of bats swarmed over the intruding battle droids. The automatons fired wildly into the mass of mammalian flesh, felling some but too losing numbers of their own. There were perhaps a dozen droids versus thousands of bats. Numbers heavily favoured the winged creatures.

Dune cringed slightly at the infuriated shrieking, using the Force to buffer the worst of it. The Twilek had drawn and activated two lightsabers of her own in the commotion. Blue and yellow, not red which confirmed what the Bith had felt. Not a Dark Sider, probably a mercenary.

When the clamour died down, he spoke again. "You aren't a Dark Side adept, so why do you support them? Credits? What good will credits do when they enslave you. They will take this crystal and build a weapon for tyranny. And don't think you can outrun them because they'll find you too." His voice was calm and certain despite knowing she was stronger than he and Ben. She could overwhelm them in short order but the Bith hoped this Twilek would listen to reason.

Seamus had once had a very good friend in common with Jacen. A master of sorts for them both. Due to Seamus not being overly strong in the force they had of course not progressed at the same rate but an acquaintance was still an acquaintance. As such he had followed, albeit slowly, and arrived in time to hear the exchange.

He walked up from behind the woman who had just spoken and looked at her with an expression better suited for one studying an archaeological find than looking at a woman. With little thought he reached out and grabbed a generous amount of her posterior and looked at Jacen as he put his hand back to his side

"She feels just fine to me, Master Voidstalker."

It was as the small creature drew nearer to give him another evil eye that he got an inkling of what was happening. That icy chill ran up his spine as all sense of the Force faded. Then she asked him a question. Jacen's mouth started to form words, before he realised what she'd just implied. There was no answer to that, just a fixed expression with eyebrows raised incredulously.

He was drawn back to reality by the explorer addressing him in return. A shake of his head and he drew his wits back to him, having been thoroughly flummoxed by the bouncy little thing. “Pleasure to meet you Jules,” he said. “You'll be able to see the entrance, but please leave the gear as I've set it up or laid it out.”

He turned back to the greasy girl stood before her speeder and gave her a friendly smile. “I just held a torch! You're good to get back on the road now?” he asked. Do not flirt back, he sternly told himself. You're a Jedi now. We don't flirt.

When he woke up he could see his saber floating above him, the orange crystal just being set into it and the components closing up around it. Raising himself up he let the now complete saber float into his hand and then closed it around the hilt. 'This hilt has to be changed, it is a sith hilt not one made for the light of the jedi.' He thought as he stared at the now functional saber hilt in his hands, some memories of his past floating up to his mind.
"So you think you'll use something like that to try and make me go away?!" The voice suddenly snapped out behind him and he turned around, standing in the shallows of the islands shore and with a snap hiss the lightsaber in his hand was ignited, the brilliant orange color illuminating half his face. "Oh so you really want to end me do you?" The sith spawned version of himself said as he turned his own red lightsaber on but it frowned when no answer came from Derriphan. "Fine have it your way!" It shouted and crackling force lightning came from it's fingertips aimed at Derriphan, though as he brought his new lightsaber up to meet it the lightning simply landed on the saber and dissipated there.
Derriphan didn't hesitate when the lightning was gone and charged at his shadow self, going in for a powerful overhead sweep to cleave it's head a sunder and be done with this nightmare. It seemed to be too good to be true as soon as the blade came towards the shadow it brought it's own blade to counter and a fierce duel began. For every hard blow Derriphan used on the shadow, even managing to make it take a few steps back on occasion, it almost managed a glancing blow against him. "Come now you can't beat me Derriphan, I am what your name means!" The shadow said as it kept trading blows with Derriphan, who at this moment was beginning to feel tired as they kept their duel up.
Flairs of red or orange cut through the soft blue of the island's large fungus glow bathing the fighters silhouettes to any onlooker for all they'd see would be two figures dueling with those blades. The fight dragged on to what felt like hours to Derriphan as he was so close to just collapsing to the ground while his opponent just kept coming at him. Then it finally came a glancing blow against his arm which opened up his defenses and the shadow cut through the emitter of his saber.
It cackled in triumph. "Ha Ha Ha so this is all you had?! And you thought you could fight me off with that type of strength?! You are weak Derriphan, a disgrace to your parents. Just accept that you lost and come back to me." At the end it's voice became soft again as it held out it's arms towards Derriphan who was at his wits end with fright. Whatever this thing was he wanted no part in it or anything to do with it either but then a thought occurred to him, Something Mantic had said to him when they were on their way to Kasshyk. "The dark side is something all jedi must accept and deal with in their own way, they either fall or emerge the stronger for it." Those words resonated within his mind and he suddenly knew what he was supposed to do.
He opened his arms and embraced his shadow self. "I will not go with you but I will accept you as a part of who I am. Something that I can never get rid of and shouldn't either get rid of, You are a part of me." He said which seemed to make his shadow recoil in horror. "What?! No you are supposed to follow me not accept me!" It shrieked as it pushed Derriphan back and readied it's saber for an attack but as it came, Derriphan simply smiled at it. "You are my Itsu, the chains that hold me together." He said in a kind voice and the shadow exploded towards him and engulfed him.
He woke up a few moments later in a small chamber of the beaten path inside the kyber cavern, his saber on his hip but his new crystal in his hand. A sense of overwhelming joy and achievement rushed into Derriphan and he felt like he could do anything but he instead got into a meditative position and let the crystal float up to the height of his chest. "The crystal is the heart of the blade. The heart is the crystal of the jedi. The jedi the crystal of the force. The force is the blade of the heart. All are Intertwined. The crystal, the blade, the jedi." He chanted the mantra he had found in the jedi library, used by the jedi padawans that had gotten their own first lightsabers but Derriphan was using it to attune the crystal to himself it would be a part of him and he a part of it. It would not be a weapon but a shield for those who would not be able to defend themselves. "We are one."

The young boy was having trouble believing this was real.

He'd wondered what it would be like, to meet another Anzat. To stumble across another of his kind. Everything he imagined in his mind... the stories, the exaggerated half-truths whispered by spacers over card-chips and cheap booze... everything he'd dreamed, and what nightmares would come, were startled and dispelled by the very existence of the man in front of him.

This was no monster. This was no cold-blooded murderer. Nor was he beastial, predatory, or even unkind. Quite the opposite, in fact. Sor-Jan's mouth fell agape, as he found himself somewhat entranced by the man's very presence.

This was an Anzat. An older, elder Anzat Jedi.

A sharp intake of breath accompanied the bright, hopeful look in the eyes of the boy as Tiland spoke about his search. "Your... your kind?" the boy echoed quickly, eagerly hanging with baited breath for more.

That eagerness deflated, slowly, as he realized what the man meant. Not knowledge of the Anzat. Not the secrets to how they had endured as long as they had in the service of the Light, not evidence of what personal flaws might have tipped them at last to the Dark Side of the Force.

...was it merely inevitable?

Downcast, the young Jedi didn't look up when Tiland addressed him again. "Truth, Master," the boy supplied in answer, cryptically. Yes, Tiland had said that he was no master. But he was older. Older than Sor-Jan by far, and that meant that - if nothing else - he'd mastered some part of the gnawing hunger which already tugged uncomfortably at the edges of Sor-Jan's conscious mind.

Slowly, the boy raised his eyes back up to the man. "Truth about what I am," the adolescent vampire clarified, anxiously. Nervous, as though ashamed to confess a weakness. Or to talk openly of his budding desire to feed on living souls. That he could ever entertain such a desire was repulsive to him, and so he disgusted himself. And, yet, it was a darkness within him. Averting his gaze again, the boy uttered softly, "Perhaps truth of what I don't wish to become."

The devil in the dark.

By this time Poy had signed up three other hopefuls to the Starfighter Corps, thanks to some more war stories. Then she struck gold; a young teenage girl shyly wandered up to the X-Wing and began climbing up the ladder into the cockpit. "What do you think?" Poy asked, as she got on the ladder and strapped her in the cockpit. "Can girls become Starfighter pilots?" her eyes lit up as she took the controls and pretended to throw it over the sky. "They sure can! I've been a fighter pilot since I was fourteen years old," the girl's eyes lit up as she listened to Poy's war stories in awe and in excitement. "In fact, one of my best friends was a female Starfighter pilot. We flew together in a special operations outfit that was tasked with the most dangerous of missions; missions that any normal Starfighter pilot would refuse to fly on," the girl listened, and became lost in a daydream that she too was a Starfighter pilot, going up against their sworn enemies and wiping them from the skies.

Poy climbed back down and retrieved another application form and her pen and climbed back up the ladder and handed it to her. "What do you say? Do you think you have what it takes?" the girl smiled and took the application and began filing it out from top to bottom. She signed on the dotted line and handed it back to Poy with a glint of excitement in her eyes. She was finally following her childhood dream, and then unbuckled herself from the pilot's seat, gave Poy a tight hug and made her way back down the ladder, jumping up and down, before running off to tell her parents that she had enlisted in the Starfighter Corps of the Galactic Alliance. Poy sat in her cockpit and hoped that her recruits would not find the training too difficult and would all pass their course with flying colours and be posted to an operational squadron in about one year's time.

You're a natural at this Poy - maybe it's time to do something else than be a pilot huh?
