At least [member="James Justice"] wasn't about to jump off the cliff. She was glad that he wasn't going to stop her from going with him. She saw the relief in his eyes, though the longing was still there.

Kay was also glad that he wasn't planning on them dying. But just as she started to dwell on that a bit, he took off and started to go down some very steep and narrow stairs. Maybe he wasn't afraid of heights, but she was, to a certain extent. She hugged the wall with her back as she moved down the stairs sideways, arms spread out on either side. "James! Don't go too fast, please! U don't want to fall..."

James could vaguely hear his sister's voice like a distant echo as he stormed down the stairs. The memory was coming back, stronger, harder, and heavier than before. It was so vivid, it was like he was back there, holding Leighlah close to him one more. James could feel his mind going through emotions so quickly he didn't know he was able to feel them--let alone this quickly. Excitement, fear, exhilaration, anxiety, worry, ecstasy, amazement.

"B-baby, that's wonderful," James said at last when he could speak. His lips forming the words as he relived the moment. The spacer could feel his knees growing weak as he sank back and Leighlah eased him into a couch in their second rate flat. The scent of breakfast lingered in the air, he could still hear the ticking of the clock on the wall, ticking with that distinct strange double click.

Honey? He could feel her hand on his cheek, turning his eyes to her's. Honey, slow down. Slow down. Slow down.

James snapped from his trance as he felt his foot catch on one of the stairs. His hand instinctively pushed out, gripping against the wall and stopping his fall. He panted for a second. These dreams, these flashbacks, they were getting incredibly strong.

"We are getting closer," he said over his shoulder, "I can feel it."

His feet touched the ground at last, there were no more stairs left to climb, "Do you have a light? Or something? I left mine on the ship."

A tugging. That was all he could feel, something unnatural pulling at him, closer and closer. He could almost here the words echoing to him, You are mine. The words echoed, constantly a sickened vile tongue sapping each word as his eyes couldn't break away, he began to pant, in an almost intoxicated trance as he was slowly drawn closer and closer, crossing the darkness unnatural light that engulfed his sight.

An all consuming flash as he found himself in a chair. A foreign location as his eyes tried to accommodate the sudden changes. He looked around, the walls a mass of pulsating flesh, long black tendril veins sewn throughout the walls. At the end of a long corridor, laid a door, out of place entirely, made of wood and bones. Slowly Thraxis rose to his feet, pulling himself along, each step a crushing of bones and flesh as it almost completely fell apart beneath his step. He looked behind him, a large chain had tied itself inside his body, feeling his very heart pulsating against metal as he began to walk. Whatever psychedelic trip he was on, he wanted seconds.

It took him an hour, his entire body feeling ready to be torn away from the weight as he dragged his body closer, forcing himself through the pain with a sick smile, he felt intoxicated with pain. As he reached closer and closer he felt a split second of horrifying pain. His sight changed, he was watching behind himself as his entire body was torn with the weight, his skin dislocating from his body as all that was left was bone and organ.

He paused for a second, this horror fest only got better, a laughter erupted all around his body, his voice box no longer contained by flesh literally echoed all around him, vibrating on his very bones. Finally peeled from the weight he gripped the door knob, swinging it open with a pant as he walked forward, his eyesight returning to where his eyes once were.

His entire body paused for a second, entire visages flashing through his mind, murder, decayed flesh, entire centuries passed him by in vivid expense in matters of seconds.

The first was a scene and a half, an entire town left broken and distraught, the few survivors tied up as a large man walked across them, his arm raised as he danced between who to choose. After a few seconds, the child was chosen, old enough to feel fear yet young enough to not grasp the concept. Slowly some robots marched, their frames hunched over as they picked up the boy, grabbing one of the pitchforks the people used to fight back. Digging it into the ground they tossed the kid up into the air, the sound of bones crunching and organs churning as the boy broke into a scream and cry. The man who choose the boy laughed as he started to make demands. The people slowly standing up, saluting the boy in a sick parody of how one would salute their countries flag.

Then came the next one, a pregnant women, the same man watching with a fevered fervor as he slowly lowered her down, onto a grinding rack, her belly exposed as at a slow pace they lowered her down, her chest being torn apart as the baby meet with a grizzled fate. Its entire body mashed and churned.

Then they all stopped, Thraxis vision returning as he found himself holding the rusted machete. You... are worthy. It echoed, in its tone, Thraxis looking with a smile as something washed over his body, he felt his right arm churn with a sick manner, he could feel his flesh changing and morphing into something more.

Denn listened to the Twi'lek as she caught her breath. It looked like the terrain was definitely not easy going. He didn't imagine the heat and humidity of the planet they were on helped. He sucked his teeth, shrugging slightly he offered up the quarter full bottle of whiskey to the woman. It wouldn't do much to lessen the heat, but it helped him keep his mind off the particularly tough situation at hand..

"If'n ya care for a drink." He said as he extended his arm toward her, the bottle held loosely in his hand.

He looked back at "Jenny" taking a few steps over to the entry ramp. He figured if they were going to survive, they ought to travel together. That is if the woman was willing to help him. He was curious about the others she had arrived with. It might be a tight fit, but they could probably all fit into "The Genesis" if they didn't already have a way off the planet, which is what the Twi'lek had made it sound like. They'd need to find the parts, but that could always be secondary, there didn't seem to be a shortage of derelict ships on the surface, he might even be able to find some long forgotten technology, this place looked like an overgrown boneyard.

Denn reached up, adjusting his hat, and brushing off his clothes before speaking again, a quizzical eye on the woman's prosthesis. She looked capable enough, he didn't know enough about her to trust her, but this planet was odd enough. It couldn't hurt to have her along, at least till they could figure out a way off the planet. He rested his hands on his hips, the DE-10 Heavy Blaster resting on his gun belt.

"Well miss, the way I see it, we've got two options. We go hunt down these friends of yours, and see what their plan is, or we head out, see if we can find the parts for ol' Jenny here and fix her up and then go find your friends. Ask me my opinion and I say we find your friends. I reckon we stand a lot better chance if we're all together than split up out here."

He was half asking, half suggesting. He didn't much like the idea of heading off on their own. If this woman was afraid of what was out there, then he might do well to think twice about starting a salvage operation just yet. Besides, finding the others could be advantageous. If he could find them, he could verify this woman's story, after that, he imagined they'd pay fairly well to get off the planet once they'd finished with what they came for. Sounded like they'd spurred off on their own. Only reason someone does that is for a reason... He thought for a moment. He'd noticed the woman carried herself like a force user. He'd learned to detect them through subtle body movements and behaviors over the years. It was another reason not to trust her, but if there were more, they were likely to be alright folk. In his experience, the nastier of the force users tended to stay away from each other, too obsessed with personal power to forge close bonds to people.

He waited for the Twi'lek's response. He was a good enough tracker, but he'd need a direction if he were to track her friends. Hell, she might even be able to lead them towards 'em if they were also force users.

Kay heard her brother as he nearly fell. There's an unmistakable sound that emanates from someone whenever they lose their footing. It took a few moments for her to catch up with him. "Almost there to where?" She could hardly see anything either. A look up the cliff wall gave her an idea of how far they had gone. It was quite a distance. The others didn't even know that they had gone down. More than likely they'd be worried. "James...Star and the others will be looking for us. We can't be too long, okay?"

At his request for a light, Kay rummaged through her satchel until she produced her fire starter. "I just have this." She activated it and it lit up like a flare. "It won't last long though. We'll need to find some wood or something to keep it burning."

Denn nodded at the Twi'lek as she suggested they find the others.

"Let me grab a few things first, and then we can get on with it. Any idea where you last saw 'em?"

He turned and quickly ascended into his ship for a few moments, returning with a small bag which he slung over his shoulder, leaving his jacket inside. He adjusted the blaster in his holster and tucked his flask in tightly to his vest. He spit once, the heat annoying him. He wiped the sweat that had begun forming from his brow and stepped quickly over to where Stardust was standing.

"Well, are you ready to get goin'? Best you lead the way."

He gripped the strap on his satchel, his right hand hovering just in case he had to whip out his blaster in a hurry. No telling what or who would jump out at them. He sure hoped the others were at least as capable as the Twi'lek looked. He'd never been to a jungle planet before, but he knew that in wild worlds like this... dangers were abundant and from what Stardust had said, there were many here. Denn let the Twi'llek lead, his head on a swivel as they traversed the terrain. It wasn't long before he was taking labored breaths. He grunted as he stepped nearly tripped over a particularly tough root protruding from the ground. He managed to catch himself, continuing onward through the brush. He hope Stardust had some idea where she was going, because he was completely in uncharted waters here.

Wood. Right. James began searching, half fumbling in the dark. His hands stretched out, feeling--

His mind flashed back. Twenty-five years. He was a kid again, looking, looking for a--

The lights flashed on, blinding James for a moment. When he blinked it away--she was there.

"Hey, are you lost?" asked the girl.

The ten year old girl's dark brown eyes glimmered with curiosity. James swallowed, a young kid again. He recognized the girl from when they had landed. He was the mechanic's daughter. "Y-yeah. I am. I wanted a glass of water."

"It's this way," she said gripping his hand. "Come on. I'll show you."

As she turned, her long dark hair flipped and James could feel--something scary. Something he never felt before. Something that surprised him. It was like amazement and awe and fear all at once. It was like being the best and the worst in the world at the same time.

She pulled him along to the kitchen and poured a glass of water from the tap into a cracked purple clear cup.

"Your the Justice kid, aren't you?" she asked as James took a drink.

"Yeah," James said. "What's your name?"

"Leighlah," she said. Her voice commanding before asking "Where's your mom? She was with you last time you were here."

James dropped his head, swallowing. "She-she left."

"Oh," Leighlah said, her voice softening. "I'm sorry."

James shrugged. The loneliness kicked in. He would give anything to be someone else right now. He felt so--so--so--

The spacer found himself snapped back to the present. His hand gripped a sliver of wood.

"Found somethin," James announced making his way back to Kay. "How's this?"

He paused for a second, moving to the chair in front of him pushing aside the dead carcass as they Machete rested on his lap. The bones falling from grace, the clothes catching up with reality as they fell through, a phantasmal layer of flesh no longer holding it up as it crumbled to an almost dust state. The crushing of bones along the weak floor echoing slightly as the dust slowly settled. Thraxis head fell back, looking through the mystical light that seemed to dance around him. A horrible feeling had been shooting up his arm, it felt as if his nerve ending were being rubbed against by some sort of creature, its limbs clawing against his nerves as it stopped up to his shoulder before running down again with what felt like spindly legs.

"Hmmmm.... wonder how everyone else is. Probably dead." he chuckled, if they were then it looked like he was going to be having a fun vacation from the Pitt for roughly about forever. He took a passing glance along the blade, it had been withered by long use, or by time itself. The blade had been rusted a sick green, life pulsating on the metal with every touch.

As he sat in the chair, he heard a rustling, from outside this church something moved around, though it felt as if it hovered about, creeping and crawling, stalking its prey. Then he heard more, more of a rumble. It seemed the creatures were back for a second round. Slowly he peeled himself from the chair, raising the sword high up in the sky he quickly dropped it down, pointing to the door, waiting for the first signs of life to come rushing through.

Kay took the piece of wood from [member="James Justice"], holding it to her firestarter until it caught alight. "Thanks. This'll work for a little while. But we should keep an eye out for more on our journey."

He had that far away look in his eyes again. At times it made her want to smack him upside the head so that he could focus on the here and now. "I need you to be with me. Here. And now. Not stuck in your own thoughts. We need to get ourselves and our friends off of this planet. Well, maybe not [member="Thraxis"] . He'd probably be happy here. I still don't understand why you hired him in the first place..." A change of subject for sure. But maybe it'll help him to focus better.

[member="Stardust Raxis"] [member="Denn Ralto"]

James nodded, his mind struggling to stay in the moment. He could hear the whispers of Leighlah calling him, pulling at his mind. It was a sweet whisper, pulling, pulling, asking him to fall in with him into the past.

"Why Thraxis?" he repeated the question, moving forward. The light illuminated the dark valley just enough to not trip over the ragged, torturous stone ground as he moved along, "He is the best at what he does. No one can doubt that. My dad used to say that every tool kit needs a hammer. Someone willing to do the most destructive, dirty, and unthinkable things that can be done," he glanced back at Kay, "There are some places even I won't go. Some things that I can't do--and some people need that done to them."

The spacer pulled himself over a toppled pillar-like boulder and offered to help his sister up over it, "Another reason is if he is busy working for me, taking care of things, torturing the right people," he began making his way through the valley as the walls grew closer, steeper, and the path grew more narrow, "The he will be too busy to torture ye. He cain't hurt ye if he is too busy flaying slavers, spice dealers, and worse likes alive," James tapped his temple, "I will be honest, Kay, I ain't as stupid as people suspects I be. I want them to think that, but I ain't. I know which side of the bread to butter."

James halted in tracks, they had come to a steep incline of the side of the valley.

They came through the windows, teh sound of bodies tearing their skin on glass as they pounced on the man, his sword pointed towards the door before it crashed open, his body blasted to the ground as it started to snarl and pounce. A heavy swing, his hands clenched on the hilt as if it was a Baseball bat, its impact cutting cleanly before hitting against the wall with its follow through.

A heavy noise reverberated around him, the sound of teeth gnashing into Phirik as he twisted his entire body, his blade slowly pulling out of the creature before slicing through another that jumped, the blade slipping from his grip and into the wall, its body skewed through as it struggled to pull itself free.

Thraxis tried to break free, his arm flailing about before finally giving up, his free hand pouncing onto he creatures face, decking it straight to the ground with his body following suit. They were both planted on the ground, his body cascading no top as he raised his free hand high, his arm twisting with a reel before flying straight for what he believed to be the chest. His hand twisted and turned, momentum followed through as he kept punching until the beasts grip finally let loose, though its damage had been done. His armor had been pierced and now his left arm was exposed.

With his arm finally free he reeled both his arms high, going straight for again, what he thought was the throat. In a few seconds of brutal assault, the beast finally fell silent, his hands bloodied as the armor that covered his arm slowly slid off. Revealing a pulsating heap of blackened flesh, what looked to be worms digging through his skin up and down. It was a mystifying sight as he raised his arm high, bouncing the light off his once pink skin now turned to a sick obsidian black.

Kay did quite like his father's logic. Not everyone needed someone like [member="Thraxis"] with them. She had tried to be free of him many times, fully free. Yet there he was, hired by [member="James Justice"] after she was caught by bounty hunters and brought to him.

"I don't condone torture, James. It's wrong. It can turn you into the enemy that you try to stop. I've tried to hurt Thraxis, to catch him, destroy his things, but it never worked. And why is that? Because it's wrong. It's not my right path."

She took his hand and let him help her as they moved through the narrowing valley. "He may not be allowed to torture me physically, but he still does so mentally. Just...try to keep us separated after this? Please?"

Kay never thought of James as being stupid. He just didn't always think things through. But she was guilty of the same when her emotions got the better of her. She paused at the steep incline and looked up to find the top. "A way out?"

[member="Stardust Raxis"] [member="Denn Ralto"]

James swallowed. He knew that [member="Thraxis"] had hurt her--and he had felt the man's wrath before. But--he had thought he was doing the right thing. Regret flooded him, just like it had so many times before. Yet another misstep. Another failed attempt to take care of his own. It took everything in him to shove the wave of agony back down.

"Ok," was all he manged to say.

He gripped one of the handholds on the rocky ledge and began to half pull himself half crawl up the cliff side. The angle was steep, and if it wasn't for the hand holds getting up would have been all but impossible. It was almost as if someone had wanted them to get there--only if they wanted it enough. At last he crested the edge of the cliffside, sweat dripping off his body. Turning he helped pull his sister up the rest of the way.

Ruined-Temple.jpg

James looked at the massive ruined temple. He felt his skin prick with a buzzing energy. Ghostlike figures appeared, drifting through the ruins like ships lost at sea. Their eyes were hallow, their arms and legs hung useless. James searched each of them; some were men, some were women, there were a few children. Their mouths moved noiselessly.

"Leighlah!" James shouted, suddenly bolting in panic. "Leighlah, where are you?"

The spacer dashed up the steps of the ruined temple, running headlong into it. Darkness enveloped him.

He dropped his arm to the ground, a stark realization washing over him. He now has nothing to do. Nobody to torment, no creatures to kill. "Hmmm... Maybe I should go looking..." he said before shaking his head, "No... that lot is boring..." he retorted to himself, before looking around, their was no sheathe for his Machete and would have to make do with what he had present.

His eyes darted around the place, wood, fine velvet's and other oddities. He snapped his blackened fingers, almost falling back when he saw his arm, chuckling slightly as he regained his balance, "Right. Black Arm thing. Wonder if I will be more easily accepted with that lot now." he continued as he walked to his Machete, a clean pull from the flesh as he looked at the blood that had started to roll off the blade.

A few hours went by, the creating of a sheathe was much harder then expected especially when lacking the necessary tools required. In the end, it was a beautiful sheathe, made from the severed arm of one of the beasts, tied up with an intestine around his waist. He looked around, the sight of ruined fabrics and broken wood was something to behold. "Really hope this doesn't rust the blade..." he thought to himself before realizing it already looked weathered and rusted. "Well... anymore then it already is." he sighed as he opened the doors, looking around the soft tinted light around his little paradise.

Kay gave his hand a squeeze. She saw in his body language that he felt bad. "James...You are the best brother that I could ask for. Never stop trying, never stop caring, okay? We both only have the best of intentions at heart when we make certain decisions. I know how it feels to have them backfire.."

As [member="James Justice"] began to scale the cliff, she did so as well, following in behind and being careful to put her hands and feet where he did.

Once near the top, she let him help her up. The old temple before them made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. Even her arms were getting goosebumps. The ghosts seeming lost as they floated made the atmosphere all the more frightening.

Before she could comment on it, James was already running inside, calling out the name of who could only be his dead wife. "James!! Wait!" Kay followed him, but stopped at the entrance. She held her breath, her heart pounding in her chest before she too stepped inside.

[member="Thraxis"] [member="Stardust Raxis"] [member="Denn Ralto"]

The spacer stopped dead in his tracks, but not because he heard her--though he somewhat did, nor because he didn't want to keep moving--but because he couldn't keep moving. His body went numb. He tried to move but the darkness around him was pulling him, making him numb, drawing all the life out of the air. James could feel--he could feel the world around him change. His body physically shook as what was up and down began to--change. He didn't know how but he could feel the world warping.

Then the memories flooded him again, all at once. The smell of her strawberry hair. The sight of the golden light flowing down on her from the window on Leighlah's gorgeous face. Her shimmering eyes, her radiant smile, her everything. The way she talked, the way she made him feel, the way she always managed to make him smile, the way she and she alone could take his breath away and leave him speechless. The way she always bit her lip when she was thinking. The way she always drank coffee and never tea. The way she could yawn and make him soft and helpless.

It was too much. Too much for him to bear.

James buried his head in his hands, sobs wracking his body as he willed it to stop. Tears poured from his eyes like they never had. He had cried every morning he woke up without her, but never like this. Never so alone. His fingers dug into his hair as sobs became moans. Moans became screams. Screams became wails.

It felt like dying.

It felt like being undone.

It felt like everything good in the world was once again snuffed out.

James had never hurt so badly before in his life. He wanted it to stop, to end it, to forget she had ever existed if it meant hurting this bad. And then--the crying stopped. The pain stopped like a faucet getting shut off.

"Hey, Jamie," said a familiar, sweet voice.

The spacer looked up, covering his mouth in shock, awe, and--there was no word for it. Her dark, gorgeous eyes twinkled with life like the midnight sky. They radiated compassion, gentleness, kindness, and patience beyond all reason. They could only be her's. Her lips were curved in a sweetly innocent, flawless smile. A smile that promised hope. A smile that never gave up on anyone. A smile that could brighten even the worst days.

"Leighlah," James murmured. He never before wanted to and was so scared to believe something was real before in his life. "I-is it really you, sweetheart?"

Her ethereal hand caressed his face, running along his stubble. "Don't be afraid, Jamie. Everything will be alright."

A fresh tear rolled down his cheek as he closed his eyes, savoring her touch.

"I don't want to be," he confessed, "But I can't lose you again." A gentle sob escaped his lips, "I--I--can't lose you."

"Ssssssh," she consoled him, running a hand through his hair, "Its alright." She looked back at [member="Lady Kay"], offering the woman a smile, "Thank you for taking care of him."

He opened the doors, the soft hum of creaking as he looked around, "How long am I gonna be here..." he thought to himself, pulling out his comlink, "Now that I think about it... did anyone even try to get any communication established with anything else?" he paused for a second, recalling all the events that had transpired. "Don't really know... They were all busy complaining." he muttered as he started to try and relay a message.

Yo, Thraxis here.

So, I am stuck on some crappy space rock. Gonna spend the next few days here. So you lot just kinda do your thing. I will be seeing if I can't bring back some mementos. If not, I need you guys to grab some really powerful Stunning weapons, a lot of Cages and a big ass Cargo Carrier. Dip into my funds if you have too.

From Thraxis

He pressed send, he didn't know if the message was sent or not. He never really knew how these things worked. Just knew they did. But in the mean time, he got to work, taking his walk back to the ship. It had all he needed in it. Booze and food. Though the booze was the more pressing matter at hand.

She sighed and waited for him turning around before she looked back and saw the forest in a odd beauty...that hid secrets she knew she had barely even of...yet

She turned listening and gave a grin"alright ummmm....you know...I have no fraking idea where they went... actually a idea...of some sort....let's get going"she said as she turned and started walking
