Kay slowed down her run when she saw [member="James Justice"] drop down and begin to cry, skidding to a halt as she saw a ghostly figure watching him. It felt strange being there. The whole place was strange.

And then the ghostly figure approached him, touching him. It was then that Kay realized who it was. She swallowed and stepped back, letting them have their moment. Then the ghostly figure spoke to her. It startled her, but she nodded a little in response. "You're welcome..." She wasn't the only one that helped to look after James, but maybe at this moment she represented the others as well.

Kay glanced around to the other ghostly figures wandering aimlessly. Was her husband there too? Her gut instinct told her that he wasn't. She hadn't felt him since he was killed. It was as though his spirit just disappeared when his life ended. Part of her died when he did. At least James found a way to reconnect.

Kay's commlink went off in her satchel. She had a message, but would check into it as soon as she could drag James out of the temple. Hopefully the message wasn't urgent.

James opened his eyes and savored the face of his beloved wife. She stared back at him with what felt like a lifetime. He never wanted this moment to end. Part of him wanted to know how this happened--the other was too scared that it would be something he couldn't live with. He swallowed, "I have missed you, more than anything."

"I missed you too, Jamie," she said, her hand slid down his arm to his, taking it with a gentle caress. He forgot how this made him feel like--like the world was alright. He had been searching, looking, trying to find this feeling again for so long.

"So many mistakes," he said with a whisper.

"None of those matter anymore, Jamie."

"So many one night stands."

"Jamie, I don't care. I love you."

"I tried to forget you."

"But you couldn't."

"I tried to act like you never existed."

"But you can't stop it."

"I tried to drink you away."

"But I never left you."

"I killed so many people..."

"Jamie," she cut him off softly. "Stop. I love you. Nothing has changed, nothing will ever change that."

His dark eyes looked into her own. In a moment, all the guilt, shame, hurt, and pain was lifted off his shoulders. He smiled a genuine smile, not the fake sleezy one he gave to women to climb into their beds, and not the ones he gave to win cash over, but a warm, genuine smile.

"You need to work with your friends, and stop playing around, Jamie. Get them to safety, do you even know where you are in the galaxy?"

The spacer shook his head, "No, not really."

"Then go look at the stars, just like you showed me you could. Find where we are."

He nodded, "O-ok. I will," he bound away, like a young boy eager to impress a girl. Leighlah glided over to [member="Lady Kay"].

"How has he been? This bad the whole time?"

The ghost licked her lips, casting a glance to James, the man was looking up at the night sky, counting and gauging the constellations.

"I need you to do something for me," she said looking back to Kay, "I know that you don't know me. And that I don't know you, but being dead grants someone... a measure of wisdom. Call it a sixth sense. I can see that you are a good person," she hesitated, "I don't know if I can leave this place. No matter what it takes, get him off this rock. This place is dangerous. Too dangerous for the living to stay here too long." Her eyes shifted from him, back to her. "Do you understand? Can you do that for me? For him?"

Thraxis wandered through the forest, time felt like an eternity as he wandered through the same forest, with little idea where to go, the only sign the few puffs of smoke that were pouting away in the distance. As he walked he felt his gut rumble, looking down to the severed arm he tore off a small piece, taking a bite only to be meet with instant remorse, "Oh... oh that is bitter. No wonder these things are top dogs. Nothing wants to eat them." he said as he continued, dry reaching in hopes the taste would go away.

It took an hour, but finally he returned to the remains of the ship, the large beast had long since vanished into the depths below, a large tunnel being the only reminder of his adventure with the monster. His eyes darted about, his body slowly following the ship to find any supplies he could, "Nothing in here..." he mumbled to himself, going along empty corridors, the corpses had been littered all around, none of the faces were recognizable to him. Though that could be attributed to the licks of flames engulfing every few or so group he walked by.

After a few minutes he found the cantina of sorts, there wasn't much food but enough, some bottles of water but of course, the most crucial part of a good healthy meal, Booze, was missing. He let out a quick sigh, looking around there was no effective way to carry it all, until he spotted a dead body, pausing for a second to remember how much stuff the human body stored. Such as organs and blood. He looked to his sword, pulling it out with a loud squelch as the blood drained from it once it met air, he was starting to realize how useful of a container carcasses were.

With a tune in his voice and the sound of cutting and slicing echoing all around him he got to work, emptying the interior of the body to make way for all the supplies. Taking his time an hour passed, the blood and organs removed leaving nothing more then a biodegradable sack to carry his supplies. Wrapping up the arms around his neck and the legs around his waist the body remained loosely hanging, before making his way back.

Mantis Moon sat looking over his sword, polishing it with delicate care. His eyes were narrowed in a cold look, as he studied the blade, getting every inch. They had been in orbit over Soceras when the fleet left. He was still unsure why the Chrome Ark had been called in, they were nothing more than a medical vessel, with minimal guns, at most. But then Lumi had explained to him that they were called in just for that, some ship had crashed. And now they were being called in to help with any survivors. The warrior didn't know much about piloting but--he guessed the chances of surviving a fall like that were pretty slim.

He had no idea what they were going into, but it was best to be prepared. He looked up at Lumi, his Lumi, her ear piece in, probably listening to more of that brilliant science stuff. He couldn't help but smile slightly. She was like a daughter to him, his pride and joy. That glowing demon that she had made appeared again, materializing on the table. No matter how many times that female ghost appeared, it made him jump.

"Mistress, we are within the landing point," it said.

"Thank you, LAINA, bring us out of hyperspace."

"Yes, Mistress."

Mantis sighed, shaking the fear out of his white mane.

"Its alright, 'Tis, I told you this thing won't hurt you," Lumi said with a giggle.

He couldn't help but smile, "Your right. I will be alright."

The Doctor rose and walked to the control room. To this day, he still had no idea how she could walk blindly like that through these halls with ease. She stood over the massive table, "Prepare us a transmission, LAINA, over all bandwidths. Priority: Emergency."

"Of course, Mistress."

"This is Lumi Snow, I am here as the first ship as part of the rescue crew. If you can hear me, begin giving me a sign. We will move on your position and pick you up. We can provide emergency and massive medical relief." The doctor paused, "Put that on repeat, LAINA."

"Of course, Mistress."

"What now?" Mantis asked.

"We wait," Lumi said with a slight smile. "And we hope."

Denn rested his hand on his blaster, slowly following the Twi'lek, taking a brief moment to survey his surroundings. He'd want to be able to find his way back to the ship if things got hairy. As he looked back, he saw that Stardust had already begun moving away towards where she may have thought her 'friends' might be. He buckled down, taking long strides to catch up to her. As he traversed the rough terrain, he shoved brush aside, the slick humidity clinging in the air like a blanket. Denn kept one hand close to his blaster as he ducked under a particularly low hanging branch of some strange glowing tree. As he looked out into the foliage he could tell they were teeming with life, strange sounds and rustling all around. He really didn't want to meet the life on this planet if anything Stardust had told him was true and he could only imagine with the heat and humidity on this planet just how nasty the local wildlife could get.

Carefully, Denn trudged through the foliage, careful to watch where he was stepping, mentally keeping track of his direction. He didn't want to get lost here, that could easily mean a life sentence to this graveyard of a planet. That's truly what it was, he noticed, multiple scars in the terrain indicating other ship's drag trails and space debris that had been sucked in by the planet's gravitational pull. In the distance, he even noticed what appeared to be overgrown structures, buried beneath vines and branches, leaves and plants. Whatever civilization lived here... he wondered what happened to them... He felt as if something were looming over the planet, over him... He didn't like it one bit. He hoped they found the others soon, the two of them out here was starting to worry him.

He continued pressing forward, hoping the Twi'lek knew where she was going.

Carl made his way onto the deck. It had taken him forever to finish going over those medical notes, but it was a great way to pass the time in hyperspace. Since he agreed to the internship with Doctor Snow, well he found he had a lot of free time these days to do that. They were always going from one planet to the next, working their way along the galaxy doing good. It was strange to see things like that, when he signed up for this extra college credit, he had never thought life would be so adventurous.

Stepping on the deck, he could see a new planet looming before them in the viewport, "Where are we now, Dr. Snow?"

"I don't know," she said with a slight smile, "Here we are, just doing a rescue mission for a crashed ship."

"It looks pretty deserted," he said plopping down in a nearby chair. "Have you scanned for lifeforms yet?"

The doctor's mouth paused for a moment, 'Oh. I hadn't thought of that. LAINA, do a scan for all life forms on the planet."

"Scanning, Mistress."

Carl felt a glimmer of pride. Sometimes it helped to have an intern around who knew how to format documents and all that kinda stuff.

"I took the medical records of the known crash victims and cross examined them with the biological scans we produced," the AI informed them, "We found a series of positions, one is running through the jungle, two appear to be in ruins, and a fourth and fifth are moving along towards their position."

"LAINA, prepare the landing shuttle, we will be down in five minutes."

"Yes, Mistress. I shall pilot it remotely from here and remain in contact."

"Thank you," the doctor rose from her chair, Carl fell in with Malintis and began to follow them down the halls. A few minutes later, they were in the ambulance shuttle making a descent to the people bellow. The redheaded intern felt a mixture of excitement--and fear. He had never been on a rescue mission before. He hoped that this place wasn't as dangerous as it looked.

As Thraxis came to his tranquil yet modest abode he looked with a glint in his eye. The gears in his head started to spin as he took a seat in his throne. The place was isolated, everything was dangerous and the floor hadn't fallen from beneath his step. his fingers interlocked between another, his head lowering as he looked through the front door. "Maybe it is time I moved out of Sempra's basement...." he said with a screwed face.

After a brief moment of contemplation he moved to his 'bag' pulling out some cans of food, taking of their lids and going to town, his gullet quickly filling up, the first taste whetting his appetite as he realized how long it had been since he had actually eaten. An hour passed, the food and water vanished quickly as he laid prone, his hands locked on his gullet as he started to wander what his next step was.

"Hmm... Should probably get started on fixing this place up." his head looking back and fourth, checking at the few windows that had been crashed into. "Well. Better get started." he said as he pulled himself up, tossing away the corpse as he started to make the trek back. It should be easier, now that he had gotten a sense of direction in the mushroom forest.

She stopped and sighed as she looked around they now we're at the crash site that was still rsh looking as she looked back at [member="Denn Ralto"] "OK watch my back...I need to see if I can find using the force"she said as she got cross legged and closed her eyes as she could feel the living things around her

She sat for at least a few minute before she stood and turned to a certain area and started walking towards it as if on autopilot

Kay watched the scene between [member="James Justice"] and his late wife. It was touching. She was both happy for them yet sad at the same time.

Soon James bounded off and the spirit moved towards her. Kay nodded a little as she listened to her request. "Yes, I understand. It will be hard as James won't want to leave you, and if I was him, I wouldn't want to leave either. We sort of adopted eachother as brother and sister. We look out for one another. But I will do as you ask. There are a few of us that don't want to stay here and we need James to help us. He is needed and loved. Hopefully he realizes that."

She looked over to James, clenching her jaw a bit as she hated to have to be the one to tear him away from his soul mate. Kay pushed away the memories of her own dead husband. Now was not the time for her to cry.

[member="Thraxis"] [member="Stardust Raxis"] [member="Denn Ralto"] [member="Lumi Snow"]

Being dead had granted Leighlah something of a measure of Empathy. She felt as much as saw Kay's struggle. The wife pursed her lips together before giving Kay's hand a gentle squeeze, 'Thank you.'

James bound up closer, his eyes wide with excitement. Being with Leighlah had brought so much of his lost youth back to him. He felt young, alive, and freer than he had in years--since her death. Their relationship had been so much more to him than anything else in this galaxy. He was so glad to see her now again. To be with her.

'I figured it out, I figured it out!' he proclaimed excitedly, 'we are just past the Death Wind Corridor, still in Wild Space. We must have hit an anomaly in the fabric of the Hyperspace that bumped us way off course. We are not too far from Soceras, if we can make up even a Jerry-rigged ship with hyperspace travel, we can make this happen."

"If there is anyone I know who can do it, James, it is you," said Leighlah with a soft smile, biting back the bitter sweetness. "There is a shipyard just half a mile south of us. Deserted. You might be able to find something there."

"Come on, then we have no time to lose!" James shouted, bounding away.

The whole way to the shipyard, James couldn't stop talking. He told Leighlah everything, about Soceras, his business, his daughters, his son, about [member="Ryn'Dhal"], and [member="Gray Raxis"], and [member="Stardust Raxis"] and all that had been good and bad. His wife listened, nodding and listening with unending patience.
charles_lee_03.jpg

At last they reached what could be described as nothing less than breath taking. The shipyard spanned as far as the eye could see, a large as a massive city. It was quiet, ghostly so. Ships, in various states of repair and construction stood by, abandoned suddenly as if in mid-construction.

"Aright," James said grabbing a tool box, "I need the Hyper drive core, vector plates, the nav computer, particle shields, and I can make the rest work on any ol' ship we got here."

[member="Lady Kay"]

Low and behold, he wasn't wrong, the trek back was as easy as predicted as he waded beneath the illuminated mushrooms. His fingers ringing along his armor as he whistled along. In all honesty, he hoped it would stir up the hoard, though it seemed that they had simply vanished from the face of the planet. Likely cowering from his mighty machete.

After a long voyage he came back across the ship, rummaging through the cargo crates for any building supplies he could find. "Hmmmm... Now... how do I move this..." he thought to himself, looking around in hopes of finding some wheels. After what felt like eternity he found a few wheels, nails and other basic equipment. Then he got to work.

A few hours pass, the drilling of nails into wheels which in turn connected to a Cargo box finally paid off, beads of sweet dropping from his brow as he started the hard part. Wrapping up some tethers of rope around his chest he began to pull, taking minutes to make the first step a success. He just needed to get some momentum. That was all he needed. Though from the looks of things. It was not going to be happening any time soon.

Daak Dakaara

The Not-Quite-Captain of the Smoked Opal
The sudden movement of the shuttle lifting out of the launch bay jerked Daak out of a deep sleep. In his dreams he had been swimming through a pool of Correlian wine. A lithe, Bothan woman had submerged with him, and her glistening wet fur had pulled him deep into a fantasma dream. Naturally, the pirate was a little extra salty upon being interrupted.

Daak had been laying across the bench seat of the rear end of the shuttle, his heavy jacket draped across his body when the engines had kicked on. Now, as he stood, he drew his jacket back around his shoulders and walked up to the cock-pit. There, the doctor and her intern sat in the two pilot chairs. By human standards both were likely attractive, the doc with her stark white hair and fair complexion, and the young man with his shock of red hair, a rarity in humans, he had heard.

Daak generally didn't find human's attractive, and these two were no different. They smelt always like sanitizer, walked as if electrodes had been shoved up their rears, and as far as he could tell spent more time with their noses in medical data-pads than they did anything else. His ear twitched in resignation. At least they pay well.

He'd responded to an ad posted by the doc for someone to accompany her and her assistant on a rescue mission in a fairly hostile region. When Daak had his ship, it was an area he'd known well, and considering they were flying out to save a couple of green horns who'd crashed their clunker into the side of the planet, he figured it was about as easy as money would come for him. Maybe he'd elaborated on just how familiar he was with the region, but what were they going to do about it now... fire him? The data-worms would shrivel up in too much direct sunlight without someone of a heartier constitution standing by their side.

As he drew up to the front, he leaned down to Carl who turned back to him. "I'm gonna need that seat, boy," he growled. Maybe it's because Daak wasn't swimming with a Bothan goddess anymore and the young man could sense it, because he traded places with the pirate without hesitation... or maybe he was just courteous... Either way, Daak got what he wanted, and when that happened he didn't afford much time for afterthought.

Out of the main port loomed the curvature of the massive planet they were approaching. The fur lining his neck rippled at it's sight. Partially, he was eager. He'd been trying to reach [member="James Justice"] ever since he'd lost his ship, and somewhere down there the man was waiting for him. But Daak had traveled much of the galaxy, and while he was good at reading people he was better at reading planets... and this one stank of death.

The pirates nostrils flared, and his eyes dilated. An eagerness crept over him, the same one which always came with a descent into a planet. You could have the best laid plans laid out, but what mattered in the end was how you handled yourself once boots hit ground.

Daak looked over at the doc, wondering what she felt in a moment like this. Something about her told him that she was hungry. Hungry for adventure, change, and maybe even a bit of chaos. His muzzle had been scarred into a semi-permanent grin ages ago, but in that moment he bore all his fangs in a smile. "Ay, lass, I suppose it's time, in'nit?"

Kay gave Leighlah a small smile as her hand was squeezed. It left her hand with a cold and tingly feeling. She didn't quite know what to make of it.

While [member="James Justice"] led the way and blabbed on about everything and everyone but herself, she just kept quiet and walked behind them a handful of paces back. Let them enjoy what time they had together. Right now she was just the third wheel. But in moments like these, that was okay.

The shipyards were quite an amazing site. Kay just stood there for a moment, unable to take in all of the details. There was just too much of it. As James gave out his list, she finally spoke up.
"I'll look for the nav computer." That was probably the easiest one to find and about the only one that she knew.

Quickly she made her way over to the first ship and climbed in, searching the incomplete cargo freighter for the cockpit. That tended to be where most nav computers were found. Hopefully this ship had one.

Being on her own gave her time to plan, think and reflect. What would she do if she was stuck here forever? And what would she do if she wasn't? Both had their pros and cons. It wasn't as though she hadn't been an exile before.

Dom was starting to fall asleep in the short time of hyperspeed he had between stopping and checking for signals. He knew he was starting to slip, and the absent thought came through his head: "Well, if I crash, at least there's the blackbox to ping my location.." and then he sat for a moment longer. Then bolted upright. Of course! The blackbox of there ship! If they crashed, he could look for that signal to tell where they are! With a second wind, he began inputting new commands into his ship computer, telling it to ping the blackbox of the ship he believed they were on. And sure enough, he got a hit. Not too far from his current position.

He arrived a few minutes later by hyperspeed, and sat up at the site of the planet. Or, half-planet, really. It was torn asunder and asteroids floated all around it as debris. And they were down there, somewhere. He couldn't believe that it had much of an atmosphere, but with a quick scan, found that it did. Somehow.

Lumi felt the apprehension of Malintis and Carl as they approached the planetside. The doctor could feel a bit of excitement rising in herself. She loved to learn, to explore, to find new things. Now was a whole uncharted planet before her, one that was dangerous, exciting, and ripe for discovery. The scientist in her couldn't resist the chance to learn. She slung her sword over her shoulder, it was nothing much more than a blade, made by her tribe when she left.

She heard the new man speak from beside her. She turned to him and offered a warm smile. Being blind she couldn't see him, but his mind glowed on the fringe of her consiousnss, just like Carl's and Malintis', glowing like lanterns on the fringe of the macroconsiousness.

"It is," she said in her exotic accent that was not quite placable to most. The blind doctor strapped her medical supplies on her belt before making her way down the loading ramp. Malintis and Carl followed her. The warm, humid air hit her with a ginger haze. "Keep your eyes peeled everyone. There is no telling where they will be, or what clues we will find. LAINA, I want all of the studies on this planet discover filed in a report. I want full scans, please."

"There are several massive mushrooms in the surrounding area, Mistress, the size of most trees," the AI reported, "It is past nightfall, the planetary orbit seems to support a 25 hour rotation. Air is 20% Oxygen, 40% Nitrogen, 15% Helium, 5% random gases. There appear to be no sentient natives. Pollen levels as well as orbit and axial tilt indicates that we are in the early "summer" of this planet. There are a few floating native avians that resemble 'jelly fish.'

"On a similar note, Mistress, we have detect one of the other ships landing on the surface."

"Establish comm contact please," The doctor ordered, "And give me the direction of the survivors from us."

'They are to the direct right, contact established."

Lumi cleared her throat as she began walking and talking to [member="Dominik Borra"], "Excuse me, this is Doctor Lumi Snow, here on a rescue mission for a crashed ship, If you could please assist, we would be eternally grateful."

She wasn't sure what else to say, she hoped he wasn't hostile.

As he was cruising down into the planet to land and begin his search, a comm link was established with his ship. For a second he was excited, thinking it was [member="Lady Kay"] or [member="James Justice"] trying to contact him. He let it through, and was disappointed at the unfamiliar voice. But disappointment turned into curiosity. They were here to help a crashed ship? A Doctor? How was she alerted to their presence when he was still looking for them, only hours ago noticing they were far too late on their arrival? It was suspicious, but after a scan of the planet and a long moment of silence on his end, he didn't pick up any facilities or whatsits that would indicate a conspiracy. Maybe they were truly here to help.

"I'm here myself to help rescue my friends. If you are here to help the same crew from Justice Shipping, then we are on the same team, Doctor." He replied.

James pulled himself up into the bowels of one of the ships. Squeezing through the tight space, he relied on is Force Vision to let him see in the dark. He shimmied along several of the cooling pipes that hadn't been used in many years, alongside a wall of couplewires, and a dusty trio of generators. He finally made it into a space where he could stand upright--with a modicum of breathing room.

"Good thing I ain't claustrophobic," he muttered before scaling up a mass of pipes.

At last the spacer reached what he was here for, the space between the hull and the roof of the inner deck. It was amazing how complex the insides of ships were--and how few people truly appreciated it. This space was barely tight enough for him to fit through, even worse than before. As both sides pressed down on him, James belly-crawled along, just barely able to fit. No, it wasn't because of donuts or an excess of other sweets, but because of sheer tightness.

He pulled out a spanner and began removing a funny looking bluish grey plate. Truth be told it was more than just a plate, inside it was highly delicate vector tools so complex the writer didn't feel the need to try and make something up. When the plate was removed, James made his way back the way he came, bringing it with him.

"Got the plate!" he shouted loudly, his voice echoed off the walls of the ghost town eerily.

Kay didn't need to climb and squeeze into the bowels of a ship. She went to one of the ones with the easier access. Hopefully while she was searching for the nav computer, James' wife was watching out for him. Sadly the first ship didn't have one. So it was off to the second.

She moved further into the shipyard, turning towards the left. She took note of her surroundings in case she got lost. And then she heard the voice of [member="James Justice"] as he claimed to have found one of the objects that they were looking for. That was good news at least.

Kay found another freighter and climbed inside. Access into the cockpit wasn't so easy, but she managed to get through the debris. At least she was flexible. Fortunately there was a nav computer. Did it work? Who knows? But another problem presented itself. She needed to pry it out. With a sigh she searched the debris for something to work with. This was going to take a while....

James began to stride through the ghost town, his boots crunching on the duracrete flooring. The vector plate was tucked under one arm, the other gripped the tool box, swinging freely. He whistled a cheery tune as he marched along, like a man on his way to work instead of a stranded crashed survivor trying to find his way back to the rest of the galaxy.

"I remember that tune," Leighlah said fondly.

James chuckled, "Yes, back on Chroma Zed, the second night of our honey moon."

"We went to that bar and grill on the south street," She said fondly, her voice growing reminiscent, "You said it was the best on the planet."

"I didn't lie did I?" he joked.

"You did," she bantered back, "I've had better steaks in a fixed pod race." her smile grew warmer as she looked into his face fondly, "But you took me out on the deck and we danced under the stars to that song all night long."

He shot her a winning smile, "That is what made it the best."

"Always."

The space reached a half-finished ship, offering her the chance to walk up the loading ramp first. Such a gentleman.

"I've wanted nothing more than to go back there. With you," James said following her up, "I still go there every anniversary. I haven't missed it once. I get that table on the corner they gave us. I go alone, every time. I order the steaks for two, two glasses of wine, just how you like it. Red, candy sweet. Then I go on the deck and request that song, every time. I tip the band like you always wanted me to, and they play it all night. And I stand there and I remember you, Leighlah. Every anniversary."

"I am looking for someone too," she said, perhaps they were responding to the same distress signal. That would be something.

"The chances of that being true, Mistress, shows to be the most logical of possible options," LAINA interjected.

Lumi nodded her head, "I believe we are here for the same thing. I was sent here to help respond to the crashed vessel as a medical professional from Dal'Bor University. I was one of the closest there, and already in a ship so, it made sense," given that she was on Justice Shipping's pay roll, it made more sense than not. "I think that we can work on the same team, Mr--I don't think I caught your name, Mister."

"Mistress, there is a being ahead, amid the rubble of one of crashed ship," LAINA interjected.

The blind doctor stepped through the brush and felt the person a moment after her AI said it in her ear. He was a Zeltron by the smell of things, and by the way that his aura felt, as loony as a bat under the sun light.

"Hello," she said with a warm smile, "My name is Doctor Snow, who might you be?"
