Lakeview Silver Jedi Temple
Divide & Conquer
The next few hours saw the Jedi Library of Shri-Tal transform from a once blue dawn into a brilliant red firestorm of activity. Students running here, phones being answered there, red flashes of light on every tiny computer screen, and massive blue holograms being projected into every open space imaginable. The Jedi Temple had done it all. Braskan and her remarkable Silver staff had done it again. They were accomplishing the impossible.
~ "Then try it again. Emma get me line one and tell Kerr not to bring those supplies any further south..."
~ "We have more incoming craft onto lane one down by the borderlands..."
~ "Seven units have reported in ma'am. Their commander is requesting reinforcements be sent to..."
~ "Torr. Come in Torr. This is Temple Command. Repeat. Come in. This is Temple Command..."
Madness. It was as if it was all happening at once. Which, well, was probably because it was all happening at once. The Jedi Library had become a hub of communications for distress-signals and radio frequencies from all over the planet. More and more students were being diverted to rescue-and-relief efforts that even the hallways outside the chamber were teeming with computers and activity. Remarkably, even the local militias were requesting Jedi support in key places planetside and beyond. Emma almost completely lost track of time, and space too. So much was the hurry that surrounded her. It was so completely overwhelming that she had to take a moment to get away. Just put down the phone and shuffle to the door.
Leaving her duties to another student Emma Prinn escaped the hustle and took a moment to clear her head outside. A moment that should have been filled with clean air and finally a fresh breath of peace amid the storm. Alas, only the sights, and sounds, and smells of a terrible war greeted her outside in the summer's air. You could almost see the ship's overhead. Bickering and blasting for control of the skies. It was terrifying, wonderous, and beautiful all the same. She could almost cry and shed a single tear.
"Emma? What are you doing girl? Now is not the time for loitering about? Good heavens. Just look at that view. Force help us."
"Oh. I'm sorry Master Fargan. I was just taking a break from the phones. I'll get right back to it. I promise? I..."
"Nonsense girl. You look ravished. Simply drowned. Oh no no no. Go down to the cafe and get yourself cleaned up. The combat volunteers have already left the planet to assist the Fleet and those phones aren't going anywhere soon. No. You won't do anyone any good out here now. I only meant to find you away from the spectacle as it is. It's not safe out here near the windows anyway. ...Quickly now. Get back inside girl."
"Yes Master. I... Ugh. Yes. ...Thank you."
Emma tossed her tears aside and stepped back inside the silver halls. Master Fargan closed the balcony doors behind her and locking them shut against the burning wind. It had been some hours since the fighting started nearby and it was only showing signs of getting worse.
Much much worse, indeed.
