OLD Factory Q&A

With the new spaceship template in effect I had a couple of questions.

  • The capital weapon conversion chart: Does this apply when tallying weapons (to go with the armament rating should one choose)? So for instance a ship which has 1000 turbolasers listed on the example, does that mean this is the equivalent of 500 heavy turbolasers?
  • Is it allowed to expand the armament/defence rating to give specific ratings for different ship types or situations?

Question 1:

Yes it's there as a simple aide to help someone swap out weapons. Note there are no hard limits as per previous guides, the example ships are good places to start from. Make your ship smaller, put less weapons on etc.

Question 2
Probably. I don't see an issue with listing them by arc if it's convenient. What else did you have in mind?

Discourage? I wouldn't say that. But the armament ratings, defense rating, speed, manoeuvrability, hangar size strengths and weaknesses together make it nice and easy to take in a ship pretty quickly.

No one will be prevented from listing out their weapons, or showing them by arc (which I love seeing done), or splitting out by type. I enjoy tinkering with different loadouts, but then no one ever read a star wars novel and had the precise number of heavy, dual turbolasers mounted on an ISDII spelled out in tedious detail.

Ships should be relatively accessible for writers to read the submission fairly quickly and understand the intention, its strengths and weaknesses. Submissions aren't just for the submitter, other people have to read and use them too.

[member="Krayzen Dratos"] with most restricted materials a 10-15 post dev is all that is needed for something unique so "if" I'm correct for something a little more for limited double it so on. If I'm wrong braith or someone will clarify it better

I'm talking about increasing the access of a company's resources so that the said company can use the resources for production. This doesn't include using restricted materials.

There would need to be a contract thrsad with the One Sith or other faction. Ten posts is the minimum, but I would think you would be looking at a greater amount than that. Companies are still beholden to tier limitations as well, so a tier two with faction backing is still a tier 2.
