The Coronation of Baroness Magrath

He listened to the master as he always did. He never imagined that the dark side could be so disturbing, frightening and... twisted. He felt a sudden sympathy for his brother, had he just become a victim to the dark side all those years ago? He sighed and shook the thoughts away. He listened to the master's past experiences, dumbfounded.

"I understand." he said calmly. "I never knew it was so... twisted. Thank you." he said, though he wasn't sure what he was thanking him for. Perhaps for making him realise what the real dangers were.

He looked back at the master before lowering his voice so only Ray could hear. "Are you a light sider?" he asked, an unspeakably naive question to ask someone. He saw everyone who was a dark sider as a possible enemy and threat. Though the boy looked innocent enough. Almost instantly forgetting that this was the person who had tried to shoot him not long ago and while Fletcher got no punishment, even though he had started it, Ray took all the blame.

[member="Ray Valerio"]

Ray laughed a little at the question he didn't even use the force but that didn't really mean he couldn't take a side. Honestly he didn't care much for the force, the best warriors didn't require it in battle. He shrugged his shoulders lightly, "I'm not a light sider or dark sider. I don't see any reason I should have to pick a side. I enjoy the company of some light siders and the company of some dark siders. People are people after all, no matter what 'side of the force' they prefer." He explained casually.

He didn't think his master would be happy if he were to affiliate himself with this person. Ray seemed nice enough but was a possible enemy, however a possible ally as well. He wasn't quite sure how to react. "But surely you must find it hard to be around two sides of people who are constantly at war with each other." he suggested, looking over the heads of the crowd to glance at his master before looking back at Ray. Fletcher was still tense, from the presence of the Sith around them.

The Duchess took a moment from her speech to watch the crowd, seeing many whom were loyal to the thought and desire of bringing order and balance to a galaxy gripped in Chaos and the struggles of war. She had seen enough to know that too many people were being drowned under the wave of conflict brought about by the Sith and Jedi. There she stood though, trying, speaking of bringing about balance and peace, wanting both sides to work together even with their differences. It was a goal that could easily paint herself a traitor or enemy to many, and she still spoke of the dream.
Looking to the Nexu that remained at her side, she carefully chose her next words. Letting those that came before sink into the minds of others as she ran her hands along the balcony railing. Golden-yellow hues looked out, moving over the crowd and watching those that seemed to bring attention unto themselves by their mere presence at the coronation. Nodding softly to herself, she took a deep breath before exhaling.
"We can no longer stand idly by and watch as a Galaxy tears itself apart around us. The Avidonian Dominion must strive to help our neighbors and to bring about a change that has long since been coming to the Galaxy. Those of use whom do not use the Force and those of use whom do must stand together and decide that enough is enough. Order and Balance must be restored. In the recent years we have seen too many terrors rip their way across the galaxy. We have survive by the skin of our teeth, and I fear a day will arise when we all fall because we were so short sighted. Today we rise and stand against Chaos."
The Duchess let a soft smile cross her lips as she looked out at the crowd again. Watching as many cheered before she nodded softly. She knew that she would be gaining enemies, and she welcomed that. If she had nothing to worry about, then clearly she was doing something wrong. If she had a target upon her, then she was doing something right. She had friends across the galaxy, Dark Siders, Light Siders, and she was tired of waiting for the day when she would be told that one fell in battle against the other.
As she finished her speech she moved towards the large stairs on each side of the balcony. Taking a slow step down them, her hand ran along the railing as her nexu followed. When she was approached by a Queen, two Fenrir Guardsmen stepped forward, still focused on the protection of the newly crowned Duchess. With a soft smile she placed a hand on one of the guard's shoulders.
"It is okay. Thank you your royal highness of Taboon. If you would be as so kind. I have an opening after greeting guest to properly give you more of my time."
The Duchess said with a soft smile. She did not want to appear that she was merely brushing off the Queen, it was just that she had so many others to give face time to, that she could not stop and speak at length with everyone. Turning to one of the two guardsmen, she nodded softly.
"Let the others know that we will have a guest. The royal highness of Taboon, Queen Jaira."
Turning back to her guest, she bowed carefully, her hand running along her own purple gown to smooth out the wrinkles. Slowly she moved forward, the two guards would be replaced by four as they surrounded her, the large Nexu remaining at her side as she moved through the crowd. Her attention though was focused upon the man that had earlier been attacked, her golden-yellow hues falling upon him as a small circle was formed to allow her to speak with him.
Stepping forward, she smiled, making sure he understood that there was no ill will or any form of aggression in her manner as she approached. Her eyes upon him as she stood quietly for a moment before moving in closer. Her hand reaching out and coming to rest upon his shoulder.
"That was a brave action to take for one such as young and foolish as we have all been in our lives. Should you require anything, just speak."

Kian had been chatting amicably with several guests when he first felt it. The touch of the darkside. Kian had been caught slightly unprepared for that. His presence here was to gather intelligence on the rise to power of [member="Baroness Magrath"] and to help in ascertaining her potential thread level to the Republic. It was often that Kian's Shadows failed to scope out the presence of darksiders, but they had in this instance. Had Kian been prepared for their presence he would have shielded his force signature or masked his force presence all together. As it was, when Kian felt the presences of [member="Enigma"] and [member="Darth Venefica"], choices had to be made.

One one hand, Kian could withdraw his force signature, but having already been sensed, doing so would likely tip the off to his attempt at secrecy. All Kian could really do was nothing. He would pretend as if their presence was completely unknown or unimportant to him. After all, there was nothing on him connecting him to the Jedi, save the lightsaber strapped around his ankle and Kian had no intentions of using that. He was here to observe and learn.

Kian found himself distracted for a time watching as a young boy, whose use of the force signaled him as a Jedi seemed to get into an altercation with a mandalorian and it had ended with [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] injured and the Mando removed from the room. Kian recognized DragonsFlame by sight, though he couldn't say he knew the man.

Turning his attention to the Baroness, Kian's eyes narrowed beneath his mask as he considered her words. Something about the words "rise up and bring order" turned Kian's stomach. It seemed like something Palpatine would have said. But, playing his role as Admiral He'le, Kian applauded politely along with several other patrons at the words.

Flether watched as the Dutchess approached Joshua. He stared in awe but whilst trying to remain composed. It was clear that she didn't mean any harm.

"I believe you shouldn't have punished the Mandalorian like you did." he said truthfully, interrupting the Dutchess, knowing that Ray was only acting out of self defence. Or at least self defence was one of the reasons. Nonetheless, he hadn't drawn a weapon first. He didn't reveal that it was in fact all his own fault that Ray had drawn his weapon and that Josh had then stepped in the way to protect the boy.

[member="Baroness Magrath"]

Josh would decide to leave the lad alone once his warning had been goven. He had done all he could, and more for the boy. Now, it was his turn to learn from experience. And he had his Master to guide him in the right direction.
The Jedi Master had given his wisdom, his protection and all that he could. Now, it was the boys turn to use it.

To his surprise, after her announcements, he would be approached by the Duchess herself. While her speech had tipped him just a bit on what was going on, he would politely smile as she came near, and bow in respect. "Duchess, it is an honor to meet you" he would greet politely. She would commend him for what he had done, and he chuckled a bit heartily. "Your Grace, what is a few sears of the flesh when the life of another, especially one so young, is on the line? I did what I would have expected others to do if they were as in close proximity to him as I was. Sometimes... We have to do brave and foolish thing when it is necessary to. But I do appreciate your words, and you taking the time to honor me in speaking to me. As for your offer... I will keep that in mind, Your Grace" he would speak politely with a continued warm smile. Spoken from the heart, there was no falsehoods or masks here... This was the real him.

Well, no conversing with the baroness herself would evidently be happening soon... Thus it seemed that the next best option was to go and speak to someone here that she recognized. That individual would appear to be [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] - he knew who she was regardless of what guise she wore in order to remain silent. Considering recent circumstances, she softly stepped over to behind him, tapping him on the shoulder.

"Josh... It's good to see you again." And in his mind, he would hear a request: Please call me Vanessa.

Vyse roamed around the court yard, staying to himself. He worried about an assassin attempt, or about there being some kind of trap, but deep down, most of all he feared losing his newly found, and only family.

As the crowd grew so did Vyes's anxiety, it had been many years since he had been at a event and he began to get overwhelmed. Woman did come to ask him for a dance, but he was in no mood and respectfully declined them.

As his paranoia began to get the best of him the horn sounded. A beast came out, he panicked a brief moment, Then Lady Magrath appeared and Vyse clamed down.

He waited, watching the proceedings intensely. And finally as the crown was placed on her head, a wave of clam came over Vyse, for a moment, all of his fears left him, clapping vigorously as the crowed cheered, a smirk would appear on his face as he thinks jokingly to himself, "Nice to still have family in high places."

His fears had left him finally, he started to relax as about everything, letting his guard down, maybe this whole thing would go well? Alas then the shooting started, Vyse immediately looked at where the sound came from, seeing the armored man flying forward, he was just about to go to his ship when the man fell down and was taken away.

He took a deep breath, as the now Duchess made a speech. Her words rang true to him, he had always loved and supported order, and it was calming to see she did as well. Vyse took another deep breath, "Well, that's too much stress for one day." Then he left to the bar for a cold glass of water.

As Vyse sat and ordered his drink, he noticed another man ordering his own drink, the man was clearly a soldier so Vyse assumed he must be a hidden guard, but it was odd one would be ordering a drink, then he heard; "Guess I fit right in..." It was clear to Vyse he was some kind of assassin, he wanted to tell the guards but feared he would lose track of the man, so he followed him.

After following him for a bit he saw him offer a drink to the kid from before, this had to no coincidence. Then the man who was shot joined them, he looked too well for a man who was just shot. Why is he even still here, he was shot!?

Then the Duchess came up, it was all clear to Vyse what was going to happen. He ran over, slowing to a walk by the time he got in ear shot. "Duchess! It is great to finally have contact with you!" Vyse using a fake voice and trying best to sound like a fanboy kissbutt while giving a warring something was up, as they have had contact beforehand in the from of exchanged messages. He had to get her out of here without tipping off what he thinks are assassins.

"You must try the food over here. It is simply divine!" As he walks, he gets into a position for a moment where everyone but the Duchess can see his face, he then mouths "Assassins".

Ivy had been near the entire time, josh was an old friend and long time ally for her, ever since she was among the order.. that was another life though. Her eyes glued on the over-aggressive padawan and watching with a silent gaze upon the situation, her air allowing josh to read her more carefully while others would see her as cold and unreadable.

Her eyes moving on the crowd as she keeps watch from a safe distance, her mind focusing on every little detail while taking in the scenery, her job was simple.. remain neutral and allow for everyone to be allowed to foul up the party.. she knew eventually someone would see her yet so far she has yet to be seen by anyone other than [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"].

It was a subtle life remaining hidden, but she wasn't about to allow herself to be mixed in with the idiotic padawan, besides.. it was quite amusing to see the Mandolorian provoke the padawan into a childlike tantrum, it was the best show.. yet she kept her laughter locked down and didn't allow it to show.

(OOC: winging this, my eyes have been acting up today so not gunna read all the posts to see what has transpired, if I messed up with this lemme know and I will alter/edit it)

"If I wanted to punish him, then the guards would not have so easily allowed him to reenter. One can not merely strip themselves of their armor and expect to slip back into an event with plain clothing. After all, he spoke with you once more as you stood near the bar."
The Duchess flashed a small smirk, there was nothing that had happened that day at the coronation that she was not aware of, or that those whom stood ready to lay their lives down for her did not know of. This was a day for celebration and to mingle. If one so chose to strike her down in that moment and create a martyr to galvanize the Avidonian Dominion to action, and unleash her children upon the galaxy in rage, she would welcome their blade or what ever so weapon they chose.
For her she was accomplishing more by making herself open, and she knew that her close friend [member="Darth Venefica"] was near by and ready to strike down those that would strike her down. With a soft smile she returned to the young man, her hand shifting from the Jedi Master's shoulder to the young Padawan's.
"You though must learn patience. There are many that would seek to corrupt you due to the anger that you've just shown. Steel yourself in your mind and spirit, and remember. You were chosen to be a Jedi, to embody their ideals and what they stand for. Do not forget that, do not let your anger rule you or those whom are your enemies would seek to use it to corrupt you."
The Duchess leaned forward, placing a soft kiss on the boy's forehead before she stepped back, smiling silently. She was an enemy of this boy, her affinity for the Dark Side would call for her to strike him down, whilst her ties with the One Sith would very well call for her to entice and corrupt him from his path with the Light Side of the Force. She though wanted neither end for the young Padawan, and was herself eager to see how well he might do and how far he would go.
When she heard a commotion of others moving around and listening to their words, her golden-yellow hues caught a young man trying to move the masses, warning of assassins. It was always something, and she herself was smart enough to know that there was always going to be an attempt upon her life. Moving towards the young man, she stopped at his side, her hand touching his shoulder as she smiled. Giving a soft glance of understanding and knowing, she was showing her regal bearing. She would not allow the fear of her end to undo her presence at the coronation. She would appear strong to the very end, and show that she did not fear those that would attack from the shadows.
Moving through the crowd, her golden-yellow hues moved over the faces and figures as she greeted them, though she was never far from a circle of Fenrir Guardsmen that moved with her, allowing only those selected by the Duchess to even come near her.

Horrified and yet amazed, enticed, he stepped back, conflicted by an array of emotions. It was true he had to work on controlling his anger, he always knew that. But now the dark side didn't seem to be all it appeared to be...
This woman had been more understanding than even some Jedi masters. Everything she said he knew to be true. He was amazing that someone like that, an enemy, could be so compassionate.
It seemed so easy to just turn to the dark side, join his brother and no longer live in fear or hiding away from the world. He missed his brother so much, he was the only family left. As his thoughts conflicted, he thought of how if he joined the dark side, he would have a motive for fighting, but now he was just a student that no one took seriously, despite his above average skills.
Resisting the temptations, he watched the Duchess, his eyes narrowed. He may have been strong but the increasing pressures made it easier for him to give in. Who were his enemies? No, he wouldn't think about it. He knew where his loyalties lay. He pushed the thoughts aside.
"Wait!" he called out, pushing through the crowd after the Duchess. "What do you mean my enemies could use it to corrupt me?" he asked.

[member="Baroness Magrath"]

"The Dorin Defense Fleet," Armand repeated. "I imagine with the Republic gone that your territory is constantly threatened." The Hapan doctor's gaze followed the now Duchess who worked her way around the room, still heavily protected by her guards.

"I served in the Hapan Royal Navy for a few years and then most recently in the Battle of Kashyyyk with Jedi Master, Graxin Rade. Now I am leading The Rebel Alliance against tyranny in the galaxy. Against the evil that threatens to wipe out entire species." He looked at the Admiral. "I imagine we are speaking the same language. We are a small group and could use all the help we could get," he continued throwing out a hint in the Admiral's direction.

Still, she waited patiently. In time, she would have the opportunity to inquire and do business, the best way that she could, after all. Vanessa was a businesswoman, and she could keep waiting to talk with [member="Baroness Magrath"] once things had settled down. Well, unless that one Jedi decided to go crazy and start a scene, but she'd just offer up [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] as a sacrifice.

Seemed simple enough.

@Everyone

After he was done speaking with the Duchess, who had moved onto other measures, the Jedi Master would casually lean against the wall elsewhere, just watching this party, relaxing a bit after the wounds he had sustained. It was very unlikely that he would jump in again if someone got shot at. He'd already done it once today, doing it again would make people think he had a deathwish.

For now, he would just watch. And wait.
