Kay kept her eyes on the man holding the blaster. But instead of firing it at her, he then turned it on one of the other men and pulled the trigger, hitting him in the head at point blank range. Everyone, including Kay, just stared in shock as the body hit the floor.
The man in the chair spoke up. "He told me it'd be safe. Well he lied and now he's paid the price for the lives lost and the buildings destroyed. Justice has been served."
Kay piped up. "Justice? That wasn't justice. It was murder. What was it that he said was safe?"
"Drilling into the core of course. It's so full of...minerals." And by that of course he meant precious gems. Many core samples were displayed in the office, some containing gems that she had never seen before. "Now be a good girl and walk away, before I serve justice on.....him." The man pointed his blaster at an older gentleman on the other side of the room.
Hmmm. Kay needed Hawk for this one. She just glared at the man before stepping out of the office. There was no need for any more to die that day.
