Codex Q&A

Lightsaber crystals that grow in caverns, could they be broken off by sheer force such as a strong species of a Whipid or Wookiee being able to snap one off from where its growing or with the use of some kind of weapon other than a lightsaber?

Also in an unaired episode of the clone wars a giant kyber crystal (used to power the death star) is shot at by a blaster and redirects that blaster fire into a much powerful laser. Would this apply to normal lightsaber crystals not as powerful as that laser but same idea.

If so, what would happen if electric emery such as from a magna guards staff comes in contact with a crystal would anything be absorbed/redirected?

@Z'Zharen
I...don't know. I'm not sure how it relates to the Codex.

I think you'd do better asking this in the RP discussion area or the factory discussion area, depending if you want to make an item with the answers.

Apologies,

I thought this was to confirm what would be plausible in the galaxy of Chaos. Not to construct a weapon, but just wanted to see if it was possible for someone to break of a crystal without any precise mining tools.

How does one go about making a unique Force ability?

I have a friend coming to join the forum and he wants to re-create his D&D character as a FU. Basically he is looking to create a Soul Knife, which is a type of Psion class. The main ability of a Soul Knife is essentially a blade projected from their fist which bypasses inanimate objects like armor and damages the living creature beneath. Or something similar.

How do we go about making an ability and if it needs to be submitted, where do we do that?

Custom Force powers are not submitted. To mangle a saying; 'The Force is infinite, your ability to be fair should be too'.

Basically, don't do anything which clearly violates the forum rules or which makes you a jerk, and you'll be fine. Also try and make it not a direct rip-off and linked (even tenuously) to something in canon.

Question - if I wish to create a Royal Order does it have to be submitted and approved in the Codex, or can I just create it within our minor faction and award it. It has no special properties, its rather like the medals you see given at the major faction levels....lol I think I may have just answered my own question but I will still leave this question here.

Example is here -

For a knight level sub basically just to teach Flow Walking and Torture By Chagrin and the lightsaber forms that I don't RP'ly know, what am I looking at in posts for a Dev Thread?

I would say fifteen to twenty posts, though I would personally suggest seeking PC training, instead.
But you are free to do this if you wish.

Yeah well, PC training means I need to interact with people! Also I really like using the sub system for some reason.

Anway, thanking you :)

[member="Valiens Nantaris"] I want to create a new breed Ysalamir about 1/10th the size of a regular Ysalamir. A little easier to carry around, but at the penalty of having a greatly reduced anti-FU bubble at a radius that just covers the average sized humanoid. The breed would also be unable to pool their bubbles together with any other Ysalamir to increase their range. Do I need a development thread for this?

All engineered species require dev.

For this, given that it's a portable nullification field, I am sceptical. It would need to be heavily balanced by weaknesses.

I'd also be looking at at least 50 posts of dev with more than 3 writers.

[member="Valiens Nantaris"] Okay, I can understand the need for development, but that much development? The weaknesses of the Ysalamini is a much smaller field, 2.0m compared to the usual 10m, and it lacks the ability to expand the field with other Ysalamini or Ysalamir.

[member="sabrina"]

That depends entirely on what kind of planet you intend to make. Most planets will not require a dev thread.

The exceptions are planets containing:
  • A Force Nexus
  • Restricted materials
  • Locations of unusual power (exceptional defences/ powerful artefacts)
