Sibar's men marched in tune with each other. They had yet to encounter any hostile forces which was strange. Sibar hadn't been on the stealth mission on Lothal but reports had said it was crawling with people from the Republic and Alliance. "Major Laval, I see something." One of the incinerators broke the harmony of marching, he was pointing to a building nearby. Sibar looked closely and saw figures guarding it, the building's walls were ruined with the insignia of the rebellion of old. This was definelty the academy, and it was already crawling with the Alliance. "Okay, Ayden, Carter, Baxter, I need you three to get to the other side of the street unnoticed and set up your thermal detanators. When your ready give me the signal." The three incinerators nodded and ran off into the alleyway. When they gave the signal Sibar laughed a little. "Alright everyone throw your thermal detanator's in three....two....one!" The explosives went flying towards the entrance, explosions soon blew anyone guarding the entrance sky high. Meanwhile the squad was sprinting towards the entrance, they were ready to siege the academy.

Wings extended to full length, Alpha soared through the air above Lothal. Currently he was looking where the Force directed, and that was towards a small camp of people in the mountains. Through visions he had deduced that at least one of these men knew of the large kaiburr crystal that was said to be topside. He would find these men, and coerce them into showing him where.

He could not allow the Darkside to have yet another tool to making a Superweapon! Spotting a small dot of red ember in the distance, he dropped his arms to his sides, with them went the wings, and finally his boots activated - massive flames erupted forth to rocket him through the air.

The nearer he got, the more the Force whispered that he was in danger.

Angling his body upward, he curved in mid air, until he hovered vertically. Slowly his boots dulled, losing the pressure built up to allow flight, sending him gently to the ground below. Landing with a soft tap, he reached to the side of his helmet, and pressed an almost invisible button. Instantly his visor switched to thermo sensors, and he counted several men gathered around the roaring flames. Flexing his muscles, he did a once over his suit, to make sure it still fit comfortably.

It was then, he stepped slowly through the trees and into the light..

He had been wondering about for a while now, holding onto a map that he had found rummaging through the library at the temple. He had been in need of a crystal ever since he had abandoned the one that had been housed in his ligthsaber on kasshyk. Meeting the grand-master had been a humbling experience and he had gotten rid of the crystal as it would remind him too much of his time as a sith but now was not the time to reminisce on his past, he was lost. Hopelessly so.
Looking over the map as he looked over the mountain he cursed himself for not learning how to read maps correctly enough, he could find a general location on a map easy but a pin point location was hard for him and in this situation he had no clue about were to find the cave leading to were he could find Kyber crystals.
Turning his head outwards from the mountains he looked towards the horizon were he could hear the distinct sounds of a speeder approaching the mountains. His new jedi robes fluttered a little around him as the wind so lazily tried to grab onto them and pull them along with it but it's grip was ultimately too weak. Around his waist was the crystal-less lightsaber along with two blaster pistols he owned, these were fastened around what seemed to be a belt made out of a spiked chain that made up his belt somewhat.

The sound of the shuttle overshooting the cave entrance was enough to send a wave of piercing fear through the area. It was a deep, guttural roar that seemed to leach through everything as the craft began to bank through the sky and return back towards the landing zone that had been designated by the shuttle’s pilots.
“Lieutenant order the transports to continue on to site Bravo, I can handle this alone.” Belis said and watched as the pilot before him entered a series of signals into the control panel which illuminated the immediate area.
“Orders relayed My Lord.” The voice of the pilot came through the helmet he wore with the same modulation as he would expect from the Stormtroopers that rode within the flanking AALs. “Leaving formation now.”
The transports could be seen moving ahead of the shuttle as it lowered out of the formation and turned back towards the initial landing zone.

The deafening rumble of the shuttle only increased as it lowered through the trees that surrounded the camp where the xenologists had established their camp before heading down into the caves beneath them. It would be here where Belis would start, he could already feel the crystal. It called to him through the force, but the signal was odd and unwelcoming. He would not be able to follow it to its source purely on instinct alone.
No.
He needed a guide.
The shuttle made a heavy thud as it hit the ground and the airlocks released around the ramp. Ren was already out of the shuttle and stepping into the cool Lothal air before the systems had even warmed down.

“Excuse me.” A man approached, his attire simple yet typical of a researcher. His face was drawn with concern. “You don’t have permission to be here, your ship is letting off vibrations that will disrupt the sleeping pattern—“ He grasped at his throat, taking note of Belis’ hand which was extended in a physical expression of the mental effort taken by the force user.
“There is a crystal beneath us. Tell me where it is.” He released the man who fell to the floor gasping for air. “Tell me.”
The man clambered to his feet and started to run, his fear filled face shooting back to look at his assailant. “No…NO!” He ran, tried to clear the camp but Belis wasn’t going to let that happen. The man’s limbs paused, stuck in place as his entire body went solid and straight. The mental will to run remained but the muscles became stuck by powers beyond his control.
“Let us begin again.” Belis’ mechanical growl stated, almost disappointedly. “You know what I want, I know that you can tell me.” His hand extended out to touch the side of the Xenologist’s temple. “One way, or another.”
Silent agony followed and within minutes the scientist was on the floor, blank and emotionless. The force having ripped what Belis wanted from his mind in a violent way.

He had the map, the way into the caves and the passages to take. However there was something else, something more disturbing to the Knight.
The Jedi had got here first.

The Junior Academy of Applied Sciences. Not the most exciting place to be when Team Darkside was onworld, but? It would have to do. Karen Roberts looked up at the sky from inside her Loader and admired the fireworks. Not because there was an invasion of darksiders up there but because the construction crew was still forging the Skytower. The tallest building onsite. And the sparks were still flying and falling with style.

She parked her Loader near the Office and dismounted the rugged vehicle. Having completed her earlier tasks, she was eager to see what else needed to be done to finish the construction. So she clapped her dirty hands together and dusted off her pants. Strolling across a work place that was filled with equipment and supply boxes in every direction. Happy to be a part of the work crew that would put this place back together again. One small piece at a time.

The blue-haired woman walked into the Office and let the door close behind. Nodding to all present with a thunderous voice in reply,

"Crewman Roberts reporting in sir. All done with the Brisko job. What's next on the agenda?"

Wondering who else might show up to assist.

Alpha paused, just before fully embracing the piercing light of the camp fire, calling out to the crowd, "Who here knows where the Kaiburr Crystal is?"

Instantly men arose, and those that already stood, moved quickly to arm themselves. They didn't get far. Instantly Alpha began a Neural Storm that spread through them all like wildfire. One by one, in quick succession, they fell to the ground. Some twitched, others drooled.

Looking to the last man standing, Alpha began again, "I am sure you know of it, as your heart beat accelerated when I asked. Sensors do not lie." He said calmly, ignoring the fear creeping into the mans gaze.

"What did you do to them!? Did you kill them!?" The man, though fighting the terror at the show of power, yelled in retaliation.

"They are only temporarily unable to control their common motor functions. I would guess it shouldn't be more then five or six minutes before they are on their feet - well except him. A lifetime of booze and drugs will blow through what brain cells you have, so it will take longer for the effects to wear off." The Dark Knight said, finally stepping further into the light.

With glowing read eyes upon him, the other weakly replied, "Yeah...I know where it is...just don't hurt me."

"I would not hurt an innocent man. I incapacitated your friends, true, but as a means to not hurt them physically, nor come to harm myself." Alpha replied, "You will show me where it is."

Ben couldn't resist the broad, dumb smirk that spread across his face as this red-haired Alliance woman--Tionne, she had been called--herded him and Dune into the caves, barking orders. Under any other circumstances, Ben probably would have been offended at the implication that he was incapable of handling himself simply because he was young, but something about the way Tionne had immediately contradicted the judgment of a Jedi Master surprised and excited Ben. She was commanding and strong; Ben felt immediate personal resonance with her critical mind.

Especially since, in Ben's opinion, she had been absolutely correct.

Whether or not it were true that Ben and Dune would make a mess of the crystal if expected to remove it from the cave wall alone, Ben was sure that-- between the two of them-- they could figure out how to follow the map. If the two reached the crystal, they could at least make sure it remained in the hands of the Jedi. Of course, Dune, who seemed ever-calculated and calm, had already begun to lead the way. As Ben worked through the caves beside and behind Rhur, he felt a slight twinge of annoyance. Ben didn't mind following the Bith's lead, he was just always sure that he could lead the way just as well. He was growing bored working his way through the cramped caves, saying nothing.

"So, Dune, what do you think of the elder Master Raaf and that Alliance Knight we met? Was I the only one who felt like there was some tension there? I mean--"

Then, from somewhere outside the cave, there was a momentary, intense rumbling. Accompanying the sound was an undeniable wave of negative energy flowing through the Force all around the padawans. Even Ben, whose sensitivity was not exceptional, felt his stomach dropping with the dark power that was present. There was no mistaking it, the First Order had arrived.

Whatever Ben had been talking about moments before vanished from his mind as he fought to remain calm. His breathing deepened and he turned to Dune, who could not have failed to hear. After all, the cave had almost seemed to shake as the shuttle passed over their heads, even through the layers of rock surrounding them. Ben shot a very sober look at his companion. This may be the most serious challenge either of them had faced to date.

"We had better hurry."

The Count had decided to take a more ''direct'' route to the Kyber Crystal. Acting upon information acquired through the bribery of one of the excavation team, he had found another entrance that would lead him to his goal. Multiple landing craft arrived from in orbit to land just outside the cavern entrance, before offloading two companies of B1 Battle Droids as well as a few other models that he'd brought specifically for this mission. Striding proudly down the exit ramp of his personal shuttle, with several Magnaguards in tow, he marched his forces into the cavern to locate this crystal he longed to acquire for his own research and that of the First Order.

As they strolled through the darkness of the caves, the Count sensed the presence of others seeking the crystal. No doubt Jedi from the Galactic Alliance, he thought to himself. ''So, I shall face Jedi once more.....it has been so long.'', he said quietly, before he and his droids arrived at an intersection connecting the two tunnels. He knew his enemy would be here soon, and he would be prepared to meet them. Several droids began setting up E-Web turrets, others taking up positions behind the rocks in the cavern to prepare an ambush. ''Hold your positions. We shall catch these Jedi off guard....''

"Well as it is simply a giant kyber crystal, and not a Kaiburr crystal, not exactly the most precious thing in the galaxy," Taeli stated, sitting down on the cave floor. "I can understand the confusion, they sound very similar. Still, we have company on the way and it would be remiss to work ourselves into a tizzy over that. The Padawans can take care of the crystal while ... there was only one entrance yes?"

There it was again, the flickers of another dark sider in the Force ... behind them. There must have been a separate entrance to the cave network and they had found it. Oh lovely ... he didn't feel alone either. Flickers of energy ... a sort of hollow feeling ... droids. She had worked around them and designed enough of them to know what they felt like in the Force.

"So now our question becomes, who deals with our friend coming towards this entrance ... and who deals with the dark sider that got in through another entrance?" she asked. Essentially she was asking the age old adage ... meat or potatoes?

While Raaf probably wanted to just study the crystal, Thanewulf had but one purpose for it - to be mounted as a centerpiece of a laser inside a cannon, mounted on a ship and shot right into the heart of the One Sith. Therein lay the difference between Jedi serving the Republic and Jedi who sided with the Alliance; the first kind was sometimes ill-suited for the perilous times they found themselves in. Despite being a versed scientist, circumstances had made Thanewulf more practical.

"Go inside then" the redhead said, her gaze plastered to the mists into which First Order vessel had descended, near the research camp - "Your apprentices need help. They can't face a dark-sider alone, not yet."
Grey eyes narrowed somewhat, Tionne's hand reaching into the inner pocket of her anorak to grab the electrum hilt of her lightsaber.

"Go. I'll handle this one." said the Hapan and beckoned Taeli to follow her students into the cave. Hopefully she would be able to reach them before they stumble upon another member of the First Order.
Once Master Raaf was on her way, Tionne turned her back to the entrance of the cave and slid the anorak off her shoulder to remain in a white sleveless top. Long copper hair framed her pallid, freckled face, every so gently flagging in the cool breeze.

Thanewulf stood in the middle of natural gateway to the caves, legs apart at shoulder's width. She let her arms hang down by her sides, saber still idly laying in the palm of her hand. The Knight opened herself to the Force, revealing her presence to the dark figure emerging from the mists. His signature was mighty, chaffing against her intricate senses like coarse sand against soft skin.

Ash-coloured orbs narrowed, gaining infalliable focus of the target. No words escape her, warnings or threats of any kind, but the determinance chiseled into her symmetric face spoke volumes of her intent; she was not going to let him pass.

They'd been moving down the tunnel for about five minutes when Ben spoke up. "Yes, there was," he said without looking up from the datapad. "Master Raaf probably feels like the GA Jedi are overstepping their boundaries. I know the Grandmaster, her sister, has been a staunch Republic supporter and I'd guess she is too."

Dune pointed to the left at the next fork without speaking. They continued on for a good fifty metres before he spoke again. "Jedi are Jedi and I'm glad the GA supporters have come as promised. By ourselves, we couldn't hope to stand against the First Order." It hurt a little to admit but it was true. Pride was a weakness for a Jedi, but Dune was proud of his Order. Still, the GA Jedi were still his sisters and brothers in the Force.

He looked behind him when he felt the ground shake. "Yes, let's go," he said when they locked eyes a few seconds later. He suited his own words as they began to run as fast as the limited light allowed. Dune had hoped he and Ben would locate the crystal before the opposition arrived but no such luck....

"Oh dangit!" it was the abrupt call in the middle of the creek of crickets startled the young woman. Her head jerked up, smacking against the hood of the speeder. The flashlight fell, bouncing and rolling against the thick grass and pebbles. Bobo blinked, watching Kaile wince and grimace as both hands went straight to cradle the growing lump she now had at the top of her head.

Who was that?! she thought mid grimace, glancing around to see if there was anyone there. With Bobo around, it made it impossible to sense anything, and pretty much had to deal with things the good ol fashion way.

Your typical hearing.

"Hello?!" she called out curiously, still rubbing her head with one hand while the other went down to pick up her flashlight.

As a student of history, it was always interesting to discover new questions.

Questions tended to reveal to scholars that they did not know what the missing pieces were. That they did not know what it is was that they didn't know. As a case in point, during his conversation with [member="Matsu Ike"] on Shri-Tal, she'd made reference to the history of the Silver Jedi as holding a possible key to controlling the preternatural hunger which had started to lay claim to him.

Now, as a living relic of the Old Republic, the teenage Anzat had gone into his research with the assumption that he would discover the history of a Jedi splinter group that had been spawned after the fracturing and near total genocide of the Jedi that had occurred at the onset of the Galactic Empire.

Imagine his surprise when he found that the Silver Jedi were as old as he was, and held its origins at Coruscant in the Jedi Temple where Sor-Jan had been raised. A militant sect, dedicated to the complete pursuit of the Dark Side of the Force. And, yet, never in all the years he'd served the Jedi Order had the boy ever heard of the Silver Jedi.

Datapad in hand, and two more stuffed under one arm, the boy casually paced back and forth along the shelves of the temple library, head down and brooding as he perused through the loose assortment of historical footnotes -- mere snippets -- that had survived the four hundred years darkness. He wasn't dressed as a Jedi. He rarely did these days, and then it was usually just a green cloak over his usual clothing. No, the boy was dressed as a true son of Corellia. Selonian half-boots, dark trousers with yellow pipping down the sides, a light shirt, and an open jacket. A blaster pistol was secured in a drop-leg holster along his right thigh. A silver cylinder hung from his belt, the one mark that could give him away.

Part of him wondered if either of his padawans were about. He should hope that [member="Lilli Sinopi"] and [member="Noriko Ike"] were attending to their studies of the Force.

"Come here young one." The sound of a soothing voice coming from behind him caused him to turn around and look towards the mountain. "Hello?" He shouted out into the mountain side but then he got no response only a lingering sense of direction or were to go. It felt strange but also gave him a sense of right as he began to walk towards the mountain. Scaling up the mountain wasn't really hard as it was simply like walking up a steep hill in his eyes though he was glad to find something like a walking stick on the way.
However the more he scaled the mountain the farther it seemed to him and the more his body began to weigh him down, as if he was aging a year for every ten paces. 'What is happening?' He thought as he felt exhaustion kick in and he fell down to his knees. With a laud cough he looked down at his hands, his old withered hands, with disbelief he could see that his hands were that of a man reaching the end of his years but what was what really made him not believe his own eyes was the fact that his veins were black. His hands were those of an ageing sith lord, a future he had denied himself.
"NO, I will not become that!" He shouted as he tried to take everything he had seen and banish it from his eyes, even if he had to resort to the force to do it. A small shock wave of telekinetic energy and force lightning erupted from him and it felt like the weight was lifted from him as he fell forwards and was gripped into a coughing fit. "Interesting that you'd deny what your heritage would grant you." That same voice suddenly echoed into his mind as he hacked up a large grey slimy liquid, from his lungs by how he felt. "WHO ARE YOU?!" He shouted out into the mountains as he suddenly saw he was kneeling in front of a cave mouth, the walking stick laid out in front of him. "Great no explanation but just go in here huh?! The kark is happening?"

Knowledge of the past, much of it lost. At least in the Outer Rim where he spent much of his time travelling, but the Jedi had been and still were, strong recorders of the past, preserving what knowledge they had and always seeking more. That is what usually led him to Jedi academies and temples. It was generally rare for him to visit such centers, for that was not where the Force led him. That and the many life-forces around was, at times, overwhelming, unless he grounded himself. He tightened his blanket roll once more as he wandered the archives of the library, seeking his information.

Not anything recent, and with things such as this, Jedi records were scarce, even if he was seeking information on Jedi. These were the so-called nomadic Jedi. The ones who followed the Force wherever it led them, only rarely returning to a temple. He had heard of their names, some of them. Master Fay. Jon Antilles. He sought further records of their exploits and their history, especially their personal philosophy. So far, he had come across no luck. He would continue searching though.

Objective 4

His only companion for a while had been the constant patter of water drops hitting the cave floor. Despite the Force being perfectly adept at guiding his feet, Jacen had set up a number of lights through the cave system. There was a quiet resonant hum from the choir of lights that all gave out their own pitch that changes as it traversed the cave system.
It just happened that Jacen was near the surface when he heard call from above. There was a clear crystal held between his forefinger and thumb in front of one of the lights as he gave it a cursory visual inspection for flaws. Turning towards the sound of the noise - not that it was any hint of real direction down here - he tried to pick out the words.

He heard ‘stranded’.

Leaving his ropes and equipment still in place, he headed back to the surface.

There was a light being swung around in the darkness, so he followed it to the source. Oddly he got no sense of any lifeforms in that direction, only a more vague sense of some in the distance.

Perhaps it was just a droid lost in the darkness. That wouldn't surprise him, there was some particularly inept droids around who couldn't find their way out of a paper bag.

“Ho there!” Jacen called and the light swung around, causing him to cover his eyes with his forearm. There were no robes to mark him out as a Jedi, just a saber hanging from his belt. Still damp and grimy from his spelunking excursion, he was garbed in drab exploring gear.

"Hey, there!" Jules replied to a pretty, feminine voice from up ahead. The torch that fell into the grass shone for the young human like beacon.

He started toward the scene. Judging by the sounds he was starting to be able to hear, he assumed it was a broken-down speeder. The grass crunched under his boots, a gentle breeze swept this plain, and Crux called out again, now that he was closer and could see the silhouette of the vehicle and person.

"What seems to be the problem, miss..?" he asked, then heard something from behind him. A male voice, this time.

Startled by the development, Jules fumbled out his own light and swung it around to the third party. His smuggler's eyes sized up what he could see. Spacer, farmer, maybe a treasure hunter. Something to that effect. A glint off the other man's belt meant either blaster or lightsaber. The former was more probably in Crux's mind, so he lowered the probably-blinding light so the new man on scene could see.

"Hi!" he called out. The secret to living on the edge was to be friendly to everyone until you get shot. Pretty much assume everyone's a friend until they try to kill you, rob you, or otherwise threaten your existence.

"No, you will be showing me."

In the seconds before the voice spoke, a dark presence could be felt nearing, closer and closer, but anger and hate did not come from the presence, only nothingness, only the cold. Behind this force was a man once known as Garth Hummel, a once proud Jedi Knight, a rebel against tyranny, then an enforcer of it, and now he stood against corruption and stood with the only true chance for order in the galaxy, the First Order. The will of Sieger Ren drove the dark robed figure as he stepped into the light, staring down the dark armored Jedi.

As the man Alpha had chosen to show him the way looked back and forth between the two menacing figures, Varus could feel his fear, and he fed off of it. Reaching to his side the man drew a lightsaber and thumbed the ignition switch. With a snap-hiss the Knight of Ren's blade sprung to life, its golden-yellow color a sharp contrast to the dark attire worn by the Knight. Underneath the shadow of his hood the saber's glow cast a light on the face beneath it, which was crisscrossed with scars and other damage.

Varus had become strong after his conversion, the pain that altered his mind had made him strong and with Sieger's gift, the newly anointed Knight of Ren could finally use the force as he had only dreamed, no longer did it wind him to move a stone, no, now with the help of the dark side, he had become strong. "Surrender now, and I shall make it painless." The dark sider offered almost mockingly, knowing full and well the Jedi would fight. They always fought.

Bar Oplut's name came up.

It was little more than a fragment, which caused the boy to question the validity of the source. The idea that Bar Oplut had been a member of some militant Jedi sect was incredible. More than that, it was stunning. Sor-Jan knew Bar Oplut. He'd been a friend of Dilly's -- the Anzat knight's first padawan. Bar Oplut had been a Jedi of the Old Republic the same as Dilandau had. Grown up in the same youngling clan.

The boy had grown up to become a Guardian, but some... TeamLightSide fanatic? That was absurd. Sor-Jan would have known. Dilly would have known. His padawan wouldn't have kept such a thing from him.

Who was Bar's master? Sor-Jan knew that he'd spoken with him. At least a dozen times! His master had been...

...oh, what was his name? This wasn't that long ago. Sor-Jan could visualize the man's face. He was that... that guy. With the beard. And... and the brown robes. He was...

Oh, feth, that was every Jedi Knight in history.

Datapads in hand, tucked under one arm, the boy was now strolling with his head down. Free hand holding his chin as he tried to will his memory to summon forth a name. He stayed like that, idly wandering, until he'd collided with something.

Or had it been someone?

They’d shared information with the Alliance — if the crystal were on Lothal, it needed more firepower than the Jedi could muster to stop them taking it. And moreover, they wanted to keep their base here secret. So assisting the Alliance in ensuring the planet did not fall into Dark-sided hands was entirely logical.

And if Corvus received a supply run of her favourite dessert into the bargain? A definite result.

She knew the Alliance pilots were here to do a job, but the promised supply run was no doubt a well-earned diversion.

She was in her office and picked up the comms chatter. “We can always do with some help Coren. Feel free to use our facilities in any way you need. I’ll be out to the hangar presently.”

With that she quickly left the underground temple and headed through the newly planted forest and headed for where the X-wings too were pointed.

And was that a napkin in her pocket? Quite possibly!
