"I think personal peace might be one of the hardest to achieve. It's hard for people to feel settled with what they have. Most people will always want something better. A better ship. A better house. Or there'll be some people who want to constantly travel. Constantly want to struggle."

He was speaking from experience with the last part. It was something he couldn't quite understand himself. Why would someone want to struggle in life instead of finding a place to settle down? Shan gave a small shake of his head to try and not focus on that for now, instead turning his attention over towards Alicio at the offer of a "trade deal".

"That seems like a reasonable enough deal to me. Though if I know anything about politicians, is that they'll always have some kind of hook or ulterior motive. I wonder what yours could be?"
Of course, he was joking with that. Shan didn't think that about all politicians. Just some of them. Either way, it seemed like a reasonable deal to him. It also lacked the "selfishness" he thought it would be, wishing it for himself. Plus it helped that Shan cared for Alicio's family in the first place. He owned Amani plenty after all.

"Oh I'm not the one ordering Danger is." Jysell chuckled "I'm a simple girl and my taste is not so refined, back home I only drink cheap Spotchka so I couldn't tell yah which of these tastes like ambrosia or a monkey lizard."

Jysell leaned against the bar patiently glancing towards the series of bottles lining the shelves, she tried to count how many colours there were amongst all of them but lost track easily, she noticed a collection of small reptiles aimlessly floating in one of the large flasks and her face puckered imagining the bitter taste. She clued back in to hear the end of what Danger was saying.

"Not so far, though a place like this? one could imagine the lies shared here, a charity to address anything caused by or being created by the Sith threat? It invites a certain precautionary tiptoeing. you know how much the Sith hate it when people talk about them let alone host a banquet in their dishonour."

Jysell yoinked another singular Devaronianed Egg from the tray held high over a passing server quickly snacking on it.

"A pleasure to see you again, Miz Starstrom. I do hope you've been well,"

Holly smiled at Danger and sat down a bowl of snacks in front of the two women.

"I would like you both to meet Tarw Rhyfelwr. He's a soldier for The Galactic Alliance. Tarw this is my coworker Jysell Brumen, who I'm sure you've seen on her famous broadcast Eyes on the Core. She is accompanied by Miss Arsceneau, who is a very prominent business woman in the Core."

She figured she may as well introduce everyone and facilitate conversation. Thats what bartenders did right?

"Yeah, they do. Sometimes to quite the embarrassing degree, if I'm honest."

As if on cue, his parents were kissing their usual, deep kiss. Aris adverted his gaze, trying not to let the second hand embarrassment creeping into his mind win. He loved how much his parents were clear with their affection for one another, but he couldn't help but feel.. Eugh over it. They had to know how many people would see what it was they were doing, right?

Maybe they just didn't care?

Aris couldn't really wrap his head around it, but he could wrap his head around the fact Zaiya just admitted she didn't know how to dance. He blinked before smiling faintly. Grinning, perhaps?

"Alright, well. I'm glad you know the regular ones Zaiya, but if you're still intent on being my guardian knight, then you'll have to learn the proper ones." He stepped from her, giving a slight bow before he held his hand out for her again. "We'll start with a simple waltz, yes?"

"Moontide..."

That name always made her heart flutter. Jonyna had always been one to value the power of a name, especially nicknames. Calling herself the Firestarter had always been a sort of self-congratulatory title, something she came up with during her Rebel days to prop up her legend. The Empire had sent Moffs, Death Troopers, Inquisitors, all to try and take her and Giran down, but nothing worked. Had they ever encountered Vader, Jonyna was sure they'd have died.

Maybe they were just lucky in that sense.

Maybe they were just never that high a priority.

And yet, the name she had come up with now, The Eye of the Storm, it meant something more. A warning to the galaxy. A signal that the jedi would wash away evil, like a rainstorm washes away the mud and grime.

But Moontide...

It was calm. It was the sound of the dawn's water coming in. Washing the beach of footprints and loose sand. She loved it.

She loved Jenn.

As they danced, Jonyna made sure to sneak in a few pecks, twirling them in a waltz that made sure to get them close enough to Valery Noble Valery Noble for her to see them. Not to interrupt Val's own intimate dance, but close enough to where Val could see them.

Yet, Jonyna's sensitive ears could hear the crowd's murmuring. Jonyna could only imagine that on a planet like Hapes, lesbian relationships weren't uncommon, but a Mando and a Cathar Jedi?

That was a rare sight.

"...is that allowed?" She heard one whisper.

"I've heard that Jonyna has always been a wild child..."

"I heard she goes out at night and does the type of debauchery that would make a woman faint."

That was it.

Rumors. The thing that kept the noble class going. It was their type of entertainment, the type that allowed them to belittle those outside their own social bubble. The kind of thing that was so opposite to what she was accustomed to on Cathar. And yet...she could play that game.

Through her own mastery of the air, Jonyna threw her voice across the room, coming from small places. Into small pockets of people, into places no one would notice a new voice.

Was it irresponsible for a jedi master to do this? Oh, absolutely. But Jonyna was never one to let that stop her. After all...

They were right on one thing. She was a wild child.

"Ya know, I heard Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania 's a bit of a party girl herself."

"I heard the Queen Mother likes to sneak out in disguise and get a drink herself."

"I always wondered what Valery Noble saw in a man like that. Then again, I've heard he's quite capable in the bedroom. With that many kids? He has to be..."

Maybe it was innocent fun, but Jonyna couldn't help but feel a slightly undertone of how the Hapians went about it. The way they looked at her. It made her fur stand up, like she was a zoo animal being gawked at.

She leaned in to Jenn's shoulder, whispering slightly. "...you wanna get out of here? I'm getting a bit overwhelmed..."

"Yeah, they do. Sometimes to quite the embarrassing degree, if I'm honest."

The Force had a wicked sense of humor. As Zaiya stood on the edge of the dance floor, she couldn't help but be drawn into the unexpected spectacle. Aris's parents had decided to share an intensely passionate kiss right in the middle of the crowd. Even Zaiya couldn't help the faint "Oh!" of quiet exclamation she made as she quite unabashedly watched.

This was the first time she had ever seen such an open, fervent display of affection. Her own parents, while they indeed expressed themselves with many physical acts of affection, but nothing compared to the public fervor Aris's parents displayed. It was... oddly mesmerizing and, to be honest, distracting.

Which, as it turned out, was a good thing. Zaiya had been feeling a bit out of her depth with the dancing, but when Aris insisted that his personal Knight should master all the proper dances, her nerves melted away. With a playful grin, she stuck her tongue out at him -- His best friend was back again.

"Fine. All the proper dances," she said, pretending to be serious while trying to ignore the slightly daunting thought of being up close with Aris. Nope, she wouldn't let herself worry about that. This was just training. Nothing more.

Totally just training.

At least, until Aris gave a very proper, royal bow - had to be since he was all dressed up in his finery - and asked her to dance the waltz. Zaiya felt a warm flush creep across her cheeks and her heart skipped a beat. A waltz. That looked easy enough, right?

She placed her hand in his, her fingers tingling at the touch, and flashed a daring grin. "Waltz it is," she said as the strings of another dance began to play. As she glanced over at his parents, still wrapped in their affectionate embrace, a curious thought bubbled up.

"So," she said, her eyes twinkling with curiosity, "do your parents always kiss like that? Is that why you think it's unsanitary and gross?" She kept her tone light and playful, hoping her question would distract them both from the intricate dance steps.

Why not dive into some totally scientific questions for the sake of general knowledge? After all, keeping their minds busy while trying to keep up with the steps.

Noah sipped his drink and listened to Makai speak about how the war and business were currently co-existing. It made sense, with battles in space and on the ground leaving a large amount of salvage that needed to be collected and processed before being recycled. “I can understand the business side of it. While I don’t have any major contracts with the Alliance, or any contracts at all with their opponents, I have several with independent systems on both of their borders. Whenever the big powers in the galaxy at large go at each other, smaller systems tend to want to beef up their arsenals.”

He was glad to see that Makai wasn’t angry that his son had told him about his and Myra’s pregnancy. Well Junior hadn’t exactly told him directly, he had been calling his mothers to talk with them about a girl he had met on Coruscant and in the ensuing conversation about that he had let slip to them about Makai and Myra’s upcoming birth, which had of course led to badgering about when Junior was going to tie the knot.

“Good to hear you’re excited…and I know for a fact that you’re probably pretty nervous as well. My advice? Don’t go into it with any preconceived notions. You’ll encounter things that people or books couldn’t even prepare you for. So be flexible and roll with the punches. As for Danger? Best to stay outta her way and let her do what she wants with the grandbaby.”

Noah chuckled as Makai mentioned his own child and shook his head. “He’s not resistant per se. He just finds it very hard to take help…best to just let him run head first into a wall and learn himself as backwards as it sounds.”

"I married you because I know you'll never give up, even if it's clear you're going to lose."

He closed his eyes, letting his forehead rest to hers as she leaned up. He just held her there, on the dance floor, uncaring as ever that there were whispers and rumors abound. Kahlil held her in his arms, chuckling even as she waggled her eyebrows at him. Good that she wasn't going to stop trying to win, even if she wasn't ever going to. He'd never go easy on her, after all.

"I'll always love you most."

Kahlil whispered in turn to her kiss, leaning in to it gently. He blinked as she pulled back though. Not because she did, but because of the fountain of all things. And pleading? He laughed.

"Well, then, shall we go make a wish?"

As Valery stood in Kahlil's embrace, her forehead resting against his, she couldn't help but catch snippets of the whispers and rumors swirling around them. One in particular, carried by Jonyna Si Jonyna Si 's familiar voice, drifted through the Force and reached her, making her blush a deep shade of pink. While she couldn't deny her husband's skills, she felt a slight sting in her heart at the reduction of their bond to just that.

What she saw in Kahlil went far beyond anything as simple as physical attraction and intimacy.

He was her perfect match in every way. The man who had pulled her out of darkness when she needed it most, the unwavering rock at her side through every challenge they faced. He was kind and gentle, but also fiercely protective, fun and caring, and the only person in the galaxy who truly understood every part of her, even the pieces she kept hidden from everyone else. Kahlil wasn't just the love of her life; he was her best friend, her confidant, her partner in all things.

She loved him most.

"Will you now?" she teased, her smirk returning as she pushed the whispers to the back of her mind. She let her eyes lock onto his, the promise of a deeper connection shining brightly between them. "I'll give you a chance to prove that later," she purred, her voice low and sultry as she playfully bit her lower lip. Her gaze held his with a mixture of affection and mischief, hinting at the fun that awaited them later, once they were away from prying eyes.

But first, there was a wish to make.

"If you want to head back after the wish, we can," she continued, her fingers brushing lightly against his chest, teasing yet sincere. "You seemed pretty into the dance, and we could even meet up with some friends if you'd like." Her tone was casual, but the underlying message was clear — she wasn't interested in sharing him with anyone else tonight, not even for a dance. Still, the idea of socializing and catching up with friends was appealing, a brief escape from the rumors that seemed to cling to them like a shadow.

She leaned in close, her lips brushing against his ear as she whispered, "But right now, I just want to get away from the noise, make that wish with you, and maybe remind you of all the fun you have waiting for you later." Her voice was soft, inviting, each word laced with a promise of what was to come.

Valery pulled back just enough to meet his gaze once more, her smirk deepening as she imagined how the rest of the night would unfold. Winning against him might be impossible, but she was more than ready to play the game. With every teasing glance, every lingering touch, she would make sure he knew that while he might always win, she'd never stop trying to outdo him — and that, in itself, was part of the thrill.

Finishing his drink as he listened, empty lowball glass was collected by a circulating waiter. He didn't opt to grab another. He figured news would slowly get out about the pregnancy once he told Junior and a few others. That was fine, plan had already been put into place and it wasn't as if Ellie wouldn't eventually show the obvious signs.

"Yeah, I can see that. Appreciate the advice, suppose this first one is the experiment." Makai laughed at his own joke, he would never repeat that in front of Ellie. She was a little sensitive right now. "As for Danger, yeah, I'm sure this kid will be insanely spoiled. I'm not even going to bother on that front. Not worth it."

A pause as they addressed Junior.

"I can tell.I suppose he'll get it in time. Maybe."

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Persephone limping over. It appeared she had finally injured her ankle - a little faster than he expected. His gaze turned back to Corek.

"Looks like its time for me to go home. We will have to catch up more soon. Maybe contract you to guard one of my mines. The one on Lothal. We'll speak though, not the time or place. I better get her home."

Another handshake and he was off to take Persephone back to Gallinore to ice her ankle.

Each and every time the tender name left her lips, Jenn found herself pouring more of herself into its utterance.
Basic remained something of a foreign language to her, for it lacked the intricacy of Mando'a, and required a conscious effort on her part - whereas the tongue of her people flowed far more freely from her lips. But this name? It felt... right. A fitting vessel to carry all the tenderness she felt whenever her gaze came to rest upon Jonyna, losing herself within the Jedi's eyes with remarkable ease.
Jenn was a child of war. A warrior who thrived in battle and bloodshed, her very nature antithetical to the idea of peace, meeting the notion of laying down her arms with a shudder of fear... but the fiery woman before her managed the impossible, and made the thought palatable. Try as she might to deny it, she loved the blissful peace she experienced in the Sentinel's company, all but embracing the harmony she inspired within her heart and soul.
She loved Jonyna.
To haran with the taboo of it all, the looks sent their way, and the many challenges they would face on the road ahead! Fire and water, Jedi and Sithspawn, Cathar and Mandalorian - their stark differences only made their yearning all the more vivacious! Jenn relished in the attention they earned, more than a little giddy as she followed her bold lover's steps, her gaze turning this way and that to catch the looks they earned with their cheeky little pecks... and when they came to rest upon her closest friend and her husband, her cheeks took something of a rosy tint once more. So scandalous, the way she was showing off... deliciously so.
Such pride, however, could not last forever. In spite of her station in life, Jenn was hardly the kind to bask in the attention of others, and the disapproval she felt from so many people made her wish she'd kept her eyes on Jonyna instead. So, when that whisper reached her ear, she gave her partner a soft hum of assent.
"The room's starting to feel small" confessed the redhead quietly.

"I'll have Corellian whiskey straight," Danger replied regarding her order, respecting Jysell's reference that she'd rather have cheap Spotchka. "Ain't no shame in likin' what one likes. I've had my fair share of rotgut whiskey and there are a few brands I even still drink in fondness -- even if they are no better than Womp-Rat's piss." the woman added plainly, the corner of her mouth twitching as she smiled in genuine amusement.

Attention drew over towards Holly and her companion, Danger nodding in turn as the bartender offered their drinks.

"A pleasure, Mistah Rhyfelwr," Danger added, extending her hand in greeting to him as well. Jysell indicating that odds were lies were running plenty was likely right.

Jonyna nodded as she led them outside.

A single wish.

That was what the local had told her. She could think of a million things she wished for with Jenn. A long life, a beautiful wedding, a simple kiss...

There was a lot they had ahead of them, and Jonyna really wished they had a fast forward button on their relationship.

But one wish was deeper than all of that. One she had before she met Jenn, before she even met Taam. One that went back do her days as a rebel.

As she walked out of the ballroom with Jenn, it pinged in her mind. Something naturally impossible between the two of them. Something so intimate that she couldn't help but want it.

Her hand never let go of Jenn's, and she looked nervous to even make eye contact.

"...That was really nice, ya know? Just...dancing with you."

Why was she acting this way? Like a shy little kitten blushing and whispering to her mate. What happened to the tenacious warrior Jonyna? The bold rebel that did what she wanted, when she wanted?

She needed to be bold.

She needed to-

She didn't wait for an answer, grabbing Jenn by the waist and dipping her into a deep kiss.

The walk to the peaceful fountains wasn't a long trek. Silas was half expecting to hear chatter from the busy dance, but when he first set foot outside all he could hear was the calm flow of water. He preferred it outside, it allowed his mind to rest like it did on Azbrian and relax in the quiet embrace the area provided. However, that wasn't the main reason he was here for. A wish needed to be requested and not one that was going to be half hearted. It needed to be something that could help him stay true to himself...

Closing his eyes, he let the force flow through him. Different thoughts were racing through his head, but in the end, there was only really one that could be said tonight.

"No matter how impossible it may seem, I will continue the legacy my family has set out for me..."

The wish could have been made out in many ways. His family had a history of Sith, arguably more than the Jedi. It was obvious what path he wanted to stay on, however with how he had been acting was the force trying to indicate something else? he just hoped the wish would come true for what was best for him and what he desired.

Finally reopening his eyes to the water in front of him, he stood there in silence in deep contemplation before slowly turning around to walk away. Right now, he was unsure what the future held for him and for the first time, Silas was worried about the man it would make him into. It could have been superstition or recent stress making him think this. Yet, one thing was for sure, you never know what was coming in a galaxy like this.

Others had joined them at the bar and Tarw offered a polite smile to the two that Holly introduced him to. He shook his head when Holly asked if there was anything he wanted to drink, "I am good thanks. Best that I head out, I'll let you catch up with your friends." Tarw finished his drink and set it aside for someone to collect.

He lifted up, and stretched his tall, imposing figure before bowing his head politely to the others who were chatting with Holly. He then walked out of the ballroom and headed back to his hotel room. Thinking deeply on the oncoming war, the dread he was feeling in his gut and his worry about not surviving the end of this next war. He was a soldier determined to fight on the frontline.

That held plenty of dangers.

"Yes. It is.. Very affectionate, if that's what kissing is. It's too much, in my opinion." He didn't dare look over. No one wanted to see their parents kissing, especially not like that. Yes, he was happy they cared for one another so openly. But he was still very much their son. Thankfully, they didn't linger on his parents public display of affection and instead turned to the purpose they came here to the dancefloor for. Well at least he wasn't going to let them.

Dance. That's what they were here for.

"It's simple once you find the rhythm. Follow my lead, and don't worry too much about missteps. You'll sort those out as you go." Intricate and yet simple. He held her by the waist and hand, pulling her along gently to at least set the proper rhythm. Slow enough that she could take her time to at least understand what was going on, but he wanted to make sure she didn't loose the beat.

"Just.. Focus on the music."

It was easy to tell that Zaiya was overthinking things. Her mottled spots darkened into a burnished amber, reflecting her thoughtful and curious state as she furrowed her brows, considering what Aris had just said.

Too much?
That was an interesting thing to ponder. Then what wasn't too much?

Her parents had always given her pecks on the cheek and forehead -- little gestures of affection from a parent to a child. But between mates? Zaiya recalled how her parents were always touching in small ways -- running their fingers through each other's hair, caressing an arm or cheek, or simply standing close and cuddling. She had once heard it described as grooming, a way of ensuring each other's needs were met. Sure, they kissed, but it was always cute nuzzles and playful tokens of affection. The kind of passion Aris's parents showed was something kept private, at least from what Zaiya could remember. It hadn't been something she saw much of at all; but that was likely due to their biology.

But how did one even learn to kiss like that? Did you just try it and see how it went? Were there training videos or classes for this? Where did people go to find out such things?

Maybe I should ask Lossa or Cora? They would know, right? Zaiya mused regarding Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania and Lossa Aureus Lossa Aureus . Lossa had just had Zeriana, so she must know more about this stuff. After all, you couldn't have a baby without knowing about these things, right?

Oh, but there was cloning, too. So maybe it was more complicated than that.

Before Zaiya could spiral further into her rambling thoughts, the gentle pressure from Aris's hand and his straightforward instructions pulled her back to the moment. He was in instructor mode, and Aris took that role very seriously. It helped Zaiya focus on what he was saying rather than how close he was.

Her attention dropped to her feet -- she didn't want to trip! -- so the first few steps were spent counting in her head, focusing on the rhythm. Since Aris had told her to listen to the music, her questions about kissing would have to wait.

One, two, three... one, two—

An accidental step on Aris's shoe made Zaiya flush, and her head snapped up to meet his gaze with an apologetic expression. Her rosy golden skin turned a soft coral over her mottled spots as she quickly blurted, "Sorry!"

The further they went, the easier it became for her to relax once more - a bout of sudden agoraphobia kept at bay as they left the confines of the ballroom and the myriad eyes within. Holding Jonyna's hand within her own, Jenn gave it a little squeeze as they came within view of the fountain. Wishes were something of a contemptible notion to the Mandalorian, jaded as she was when it came to luck, and fate - raging against the latter more often than not, refusing to accept that her choices might be preordained. Still... there were so many things she longed for, when it came to the gorgeous woman at her side. So many wishes she could make, on the off chance they might just come true... but there was one in particular she longed for, more than anything else in the world. No matter how far off they might be from it, and the intricacies related to it.
Her Moontide's voice claimed her attention once more, emerging from her pleasant reverie once more... only for her cheeks to flush. Manda'yaim damn her for being reduced to this! Her, an indomitable warrior, wise leader of her Clan and bold Reformer acting every bit the blushing maiden of those Lady Velvet books she kept on reading! Mustering the will to speak up, she opened her mouth to answer the Jedi-
And found her world reduced to the two of them as their lips crashed against one another. Wrapping her arms around Jonyna's back as her darling held her by the waist, Jenn abandoned herself to the moment, her eyes fluttering close as she allowed herself to forget all about the world around them. There was nothing more important than her beloved Moontide, and how best to show her just how deeply she felt for her, renewing their liplock as soon as it broke. Neck-breather that she was, the Ersansyr had little need to break their kiss for air, and she relished in that "upper hand" it gave her.
Pulling her face away from the Jedi's own required a monumental effort of will - but one she gladly made, for it gave her the chance to finally utter the words she so longed to speak.
"I love you, Jonyna."

Zane watched as Katarine set her glass down, the slightest hint of hesitation lingering in her movements. He could sense the tension in her, the way her eyes darted to the crowd and then back to him, as if she were caught between wanting to escape and wanting to stay. But when she took his hand, a small, satisfied smile tugged at the corners of his lips. For tonight, that was all he needed.

He led her onto the dance floor, guiding her with a gentle yet confident grip. As they settled into the soft waltz, Zane's hand found its place on her waist, his touch light but firm, while her hand rested delicately on his shoulder. The music enveloped them, and for a moment, it felt like the rest of the room had faded into the background. The familiar rhythm of the waltz flowed between them, and he couldn't help but marvel at how easily she moved — graceful, even if she seemed a bit out of her comfort zone.

Katarine's voice broke through the rhythm and melody, "Well, the short answer? Nowhere special," he admitted, his eyes meeting hers with a playful glint. "It's just one of those things you pick up over time, you know?" Going out with friends, and celebrating accomplishments with his fellow pilots. It had taught him how to dance, well enough to hold his own in a waltz, but he was absolutely not a skilled dancer.

He sure didn't have her elegance.

Still, he gave her a light spin, guiding her smoothly before drawing her back into his hold, a little closer this time, "Do you come to these gatherings often?" he asked with purpose, "You seemed a little... uneasy earlier." He was careful not to make too many assumptions, but he figured that she wouldn't deny something so obvious.

"You're a great dancer, though." He watched her move and couldn't help but smile.

And there is was.

Jonyna's only response was to go beat red, the Cathar for once in her life, hesitating.

It was a simple four letter word, and yet it immobilized her like never before. In her past relationships, she was the one in control. She was the one who flirted and teased. She was the one who confessed first.

Now she was on the backfoot. Now she was the one who being confessed to. She needed to say it back. She did, Sylvar she did. But the words. The words got caught in her throat.

And yet, as she stared deep into her Lyrana's eyes, she couldn't stop herself. Something her mother had told her took over.

Where the heart wavers, there is something to gain.

"...I love you too Jenn." Jonyna finally let out, looking to the woman of her desires with a deep longing. "And I know what I want to wish for..."
