The Initium is an amalgamation of technologies developed by Alicia Drey and Circe Savan, who are joint partners in Emeritus Industries, the ship manufacturer that built this modified Star Courier from the orbital shipyards in the Tund system. It could also been seen as the successor to theScimitar, another modified Star Courier designed by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Tenebrous, which was used nearly five centuries previously.
It's Annihilator-class generator was taken from an Annihilator-class boarding shuttle that was designed by Alicia Drey. It's stygium crystals were obtained through a business transaction, when Darth Ayra met with Jaster Awaud. In return for the services of Chandrila Group, as well as a sum of credits, Ayra obtained the stygium she needed to power the Initium's cloak.
The design of the Initium included the Annihilator-class generator, so as to give it the ability to cloak. The antimatter generator at the back of theInitium powers the cloaking device, whilst supplying power to other systems including life support, impulse, hyperdrive, it's scanners and the portable dampening field invented by Alicia.
When the Initium is cloaked and has it's dampening field activated, the ship is nearly undetectable. Only the rare technology in the crystal gravfield trap would allow another ship to detect it due to the gravitational distortion the ship makes in realspace. The Initium focuses heavily on it's ability to be undetected and thus unnoticed by other ships. With no weapons or shields, a few choice shots from a starfighter or one precise hit from a capital ship would destroy it. Thus it was given a class 1.0 hyperdrive and an agility to evade another ships shots if it was detected.
It has a cockpit for flying and a small cargo bay area that could be used to carry small items or for somewhere to sleep. It was built by Emeritus Industries in secret on the order of Alicia Drey in the Tund system. Seeking to replace the Niathal-class transport she had brought from Jorus Merrill, the idea behind the Initium was conceived due to the clandestine nature of her work, leading a double life as a Sith Lord in secret and business woman/inventor in public. She once considered handing the ship over to Jaron Lesan, a Dark Jedi who aspired to become a Sith Lord, after he successfully extracted a Katak and Qixoni Lightsaber crystal for her research into melding crystals together with the dark side. However, the ship did not end up in his hands.
In 847 ABY, Alicia Drey passed away and was buried upon her homeworld of Chandrila. After completing the ancient Sith ritual of Transfer Essence upon a Jedi Knight called Ella Nova, the Initium became the property of the Jedi Knight whilst the Sith Lord lived on in her disguise. It is currently in her control.
Initium can be translated as "go in, make a start", which Ayra believed to be a suitable name at the time of it's construction.
