Surprise Droid Party [Metal Lords - Commenor Diplomacy Exchange]

[member="Ultimatum"] led the way, and Darben followed behind [member="Lady Kay"] and [member="Darlyn Excron"] with Mute by his side. He noticed there were no organics, at least none that had crossed their path aboard the station. Darben felt slightly uncomfortable by how empty it seemed, he kept Mute close by to him. Plus, he was afraid of space. Not only hyperspace travel, but just the emptiness of space in general. "They've settled in nicely" me murmured under his breath.

Darlyn chuckled, following behind them all. "Anytime you need, Mr. @Ultimatum. I'm pretty free when not buried in papers." He held his hands behind his back, as he stayed fairly close to [member="Lady Kay"] and [member="Darben Skirae"], seemingly unaffected by the lack of organics save the four of them following Ultimatum. If anything he seemed comfortable, though it wasn't to any fact of the situation nor a love of droids. He just found them easier to understand, and in Ultimatum's case they were quite polite.

He noticed the food and seats, but even someone as lacking in political graces as he was knew better than to take the initiative on these things. Indeed, on entering the conference room he seemed to enter something closer to a business mode, no less full of energy and puns but more restrained.

The artificial smiled to Minister of Justice. That was well, for Ultimatum had work to finish in that area. He was glad to see the man seemed to be keeping his cool. The situation must be fairly unique, Ulitmatum doubted that many of these organics spent much time among solely artificials. They appeared to be holding well nonetheless.

When the group reached the conference room Ultimatum spoke, "Feel free to eat or drink." The droid did not know if that was a professional thing to allow, but it was his attempt at courteousness. It would be easier after all to conduct the meeting when all involved were in good condition, plus hunger was a proven irritant and Ultimatum wanted to alleviate those as much as possible for the duration of the meeting.

----

Ultimatum waited, if no one opted to partake then it would probably be only a few moments. If they did then perhaps it was longer. When the organics appeared ready Ultimatum began, "As most, if not all of you know. I called upon President Kay for the Metal Lords, a new galactic coalition of various artificial beings. As one of the first members of the organization I have come to believe that the intentions for its creation are nonmalignant. I was sent to conduct a peaceful agreement between our two galactic powers in order to create a strong trade and support relationship. It should not be any surprise that the leader of the Metal Lords, [member="HK-36"], chose me to speak with you due to my previous connections with the President. What are your thoughts on this?"

Kay picked up some tea and a couple of finger foods. She wasn't starving but a light snack was nice. And of course the tea. One of her staples. But of course [member="Ultimatum"] probably knew that already.

After she finished eating, she sat back in her chair, cradling her cup in her hands while he spoke. She raised a brw slightly as he gave her the title of President, instead of one of the others that she had. Was it intentional? Or not? Right now she wasn't sure. Especially as he mentioned [member="HK-36"] . Kay wasn't sure about that droid, and whether or not he was on her side or still threatened her. Perhaps this indirect reaching out was a way to show her that he was no threat.

She sipped her tea, glancing to both [member="Darlyn Excron"] and [member="Darben Skirae"] before she answered. "That all sounds promising. As you know, we're not an aggressive government. Diplomacy, neutrality and being allied with others from all sides helps to stem the violence and keep us protected. I don't see a reason why we should turn you down." Especially as they hadn't turned anyone down yet.

The Commenor representatives may receive a report from their associates that there was another ship movement heading through the hyperlane routes towards the location of their meeting. It was a single shuttle transport with some minimal starfighter escort, however [member="Ultimatum"] would be able to rather quickly know that it carried rather precious cargo as he received a transmission on his build-in communications,

"Ulti, we finished negotiations on Denon, I am heading over to join your meeting and meet with the Commenor representatives personally."

After that it would be a fairly standard procedure, the station where the two factions were currently meeting wasn't that far from Denon, so soon enough the shuttle would warp into real-space within the system, followed by the two mechanical dragon droid starfighters who accompanied it, and it would head towards the docking bays of the structure Kay, Ultimatum, and others were aboard on. Then they would dock, presumably without any issues, and HK would disembark, leaving his Greycloaks and the previous companions behind to make way through the station in his solace and join everyone in the conference room eventually.

((I spoke to Macharius, because our side of the story stalled we'll finish it later in private thread, I'm moving HK to meeting with Commenor so we can get the story there pushed through and finish the thread))

"I am truly glad to hear that. Our government has thus far followed the same concept, attempting to avoid violence unless forced upon us." The droid sat down in a chair near the table's head. Leaning on the chair's back he pulled up the holo of the galactic map with the two powers outlined in blue and green. The map zoomed towards the borders and stopped at an approximation of where they were at. "Obviously peace could be attained simply by not paying heed to one another. Sticking to our borders and not moving ships across would constitute the most fundamental of peaceful coexistence."

At this, the hologram displayed two ships on either side of the border with a distinct line along the border. Neither ship moved as he spoke, but then as he continued one of the ship, a freighter in appearance from both sides moved across the border. "However, a mutually beneficial plan would be allowing trade routes to continue. I do not believe that either side would have any specific issues with this. If I may suggest, we could also begin direct commerce with each other as I am certain that companies without both borders will appreciate the possibilities."

The two ships that had not moved, warships by their appearance, then crossed the border. Ultimatum continued more cautiously, "Obviously moving combat fleets through other people's territory is a somewhat sensitive subject." Ultimatum was uncertain if [member="Lady Kay"] even had a war fleet. The last he had remembered, she was a pacifist, though there had been some changes since then. It made sense that a galactic power have even a defensive force, but Ultimatum understood that some went without.

At that point Ultimatum was relayed the message that [member="HK-36"] had arrived and Ultimatum internally sighed some small relief. He doubted that there would be any trouble with an old friend, but he did feel somewhat uncertain about the topics that had to be gone over and the fact that he was not the 'authority' of the Metal Lords. Unfortunately his promises did not always equate to a guarantee that the other Metal Lords would follow the concept. That was why HK was a good person to have here, as the founder of the Metal Lords he would, hopefully, have some control over those Metal Lords that did not directly agree with Ultimatum. "Ah, the head of the Metal Lords, HK-36 is arriving. He will be here shortly and hopefully we can deal with some of the issues with our government in comparison to yours."

Kay nodded as she listened, her eyes on the holographics that [member="Ultimatum"] displayed while he spoke. In a way it reminded her of some teaching lessons. She half wondered if Ultimatum had ever taught classes before. But given that she couldn't remember a lot about her past, she wasn't sure if that was one of the missing memories or not. Either way, he knew how to explain things well. "I'd rather that we had good relations with our neighbours instead of ignoring them. Opening up trade and business is what we've done with all of our allies. And we offer all of them the same rates. There's no favouring one over the other with us."

As she saw the holographic images of combat ships moving through eachother's territories, it made her wonder what the Metal Lords were planning. She also had no idea of who their enemies were, if any. Commenor had none, and by extension neither did the Alliance. "Sensative yes. However our fleets would always ask for permission before entering another's territory. Some governments are quick to go to war over the simplest of things."

Kay sipped her tea, stiffening up slightly at the mention of [member="HK-36"] . Oh lovely. So she was going to see him again. He had a tendancy to pop up at various meetings that she was at. No doubt he was keeping an eye on her. At least that was what she believed. "Well I wouldn't want to take up too much of his time." Hopefully the meeting wouldn't be too long. And she made a mental note to herself to avoid looking at HK's photo-receptors. The last thing that she needed was to be hypnotized again.

The door to the conference room would finally open and in would stride the tall slender figure of HK, even covered in ceremonial armor and wrapped tightly in illustrious black cloaks his body would seem rather skeletal and somewhat fragile underneath, a juxtaposition to its true nature as a Phrik-forged near indestructible war machine. As he came into the room the droid would conduct a slight bow, greeting Kay,

"Lady Kay, Queen of Commenor, it is good to see you again, thank you for accepting our invitation for our two nations to meet and speak."

He would look to Ultimatum then, giving him a nod as well,

"Sovereign, thank you for leading these negotiations."

And then he would give a nod of greeting towards [member="Darben Skirae"] and [member="Darlyn Excron"], should they still be in the room.

"I am sure our sudden appearance and the vast numbers of ships and stations appearing in this sector is somewhat unnerving. My kind is not always as subtle and delicate in manners of politics and diplomacy as I or Ultimatum, even we prefer to speak plainly and to the point. You can be calm however, we are not here as conquerors or to conduct another violent droid rebellion like the Omni and the Red Queen did, if such was the case, well like I said my kind is not very subtle, the signs of fighting and sieges would be very clear for you in stead of these negotiations. Our goal is to improve droid rights in the Galaxy but not by conquer or eliminating organics but rather by showing the universe that machines and organics and live and cooperate with each other peacefully, more than that, in such state we can thrive many time over than before."

HK explained,

"Many of our ships are construction vessels, refitted war ships to create instead of destroy now, the planets who now accept cooperation with Metal Lords do so willingly, our cyborgs and droids spoke to them ahead of time, we would not appear so suddenly if we did not knew that the planets would welcome and accept us. In fact I just came from meeting with Prime Minister Macharius of Denon, he too agreed to work with us for better future in peace, and his rule of the planet will be maintained and respected by us. It would send a rather hypocritical message if we came here to free our brethren from slavery by enslaving the organics in their stead."

The droid pause to not drown Kay in avalanche of words too much,

"I want to speak with you about restoration and expansion of old trade hyperlanes and trade spaceports between and within our territories."

Kay watched as [member="HK-36"] walked in. He looked different than before. It was strange, but not unheard of. Perhaps this weaker-looking visage was done on purpose in order to seem less intimidating. She bowed her head in return and then listened to his speech. Did he always talk so much? She wasn't quite sure. Her husband had been known for giving big speeches as well and she did the same at times, but still, it wasn't always necessary. Still, she seemed to have somethung that he wanted and that was why they were being catered to.

She sipped her tea, nodding as he finally got straight to the point. @Ultimarum had already given her a bit of a heads up as to what was going on, so hearing HK speak of trade lanes and stations came at no surprise to her. "A healthy economy, one brought on by trade can provide for it's people in the way that war can't. I am not alarmed by the arrival of your kind near our sector as Ultimatum and I have a highly valued friendship and trust. So yes, we'd be interested in hearing your offer."

[member="Lady Kay"],

The droid always looked somewhat skeletal actually, even on that day he first met and spoke with Kay, summoned to Commenor by a portion of her very concerned and very vocal citizens, perhaps it was because the armor he wore now was more ceremonial and less functional, not masking his true form as much as the Vong-shaped suit of biot armor that blended in with the dark confines of his cloak. That and the machine was actually capable of a degree of shapeshifting, able to make himself appear larger or smaller, thinner or wider, by shifting the armor plates on his body.

"Good, that is good. Well the offer is simple, before the Republic, before Commenor, there were powers in this world, powers with which my kind interacted and learned from, that used lanes and routes between planets now though to be too dangerous or simply forgotten. We can restore portions of these Hidden Hyperlanes, mapping out new routes, cooperating with your pilots and using our knowledge, connecting Denon through Antar to Commenor and then extending it out to Alderaan or Onderon perhaps and connecting it once more with another major hyperlane trade routes. We would also construct spacestations along that and other existing hyperlane running through our border, these stations would be civilian and neutral spaces of commerce and industry used as bridges to intermingle citizens of our two nations and quicken the rate of caravans traveling between us by easing their journeys We could also take the brunt of dealing with piracy in our sector, as pirates are a plague we will be fighting any way."

HK explained before pausing and adding,

"All this at a price, of course. Outside of offer of trade and commercial expansion I am also here to talk about possibly disputed border worlds like Antar, and the civil rights of droids within Commenor space."

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay nodded as she listened. She had heard of the hyperlanes that [member="HK-36"] was talking about. Or rather mere mentions of them. Back when she had first began to run Commenor as it's elected President, she wanted to take full advantage of the booming trade that Commenor had at it's disposal. Through reaching out to others, most particularily some of the growing governments out there, she had seen that trade and access to hyperlanes was where Commenor held it's value. It had saved them from war. Even now, the most Imperial governments make use of them, have made deals with her government over them, and have taken their hostilities elsewhere.

A brow was raised as he spoke of the price to pay, of disputed worlds and civil rights. She sipped her tea, shifting her weight a little in her seat. "New hyperlane routes are always in need. Especially as some become compromised or held under a blockade. As for your price, there is no cause for concern over the civil rights of droids in my system. Due to my friendship with [member="Ultimatum"] , he had shown me how sentient some droids can truly be. So they have the same rights and must obide by the same laws. Now as for Antar, it is not my place to tell their citizens who will govern them. Joining the Alliance is never forced. So let them have their say, let the citizens vote on it. Should they choose to be a part of your territory, then their decision would be granted. But it must be an honest vote, no voter supression, no ultimatums, no bribery. Agreed?" [member="Darben Skirae"] [member="Darlyn Excron"]

Darben remained silent as [member="HK-36"], [member="Ultimatum"] and [member="Lady Kay"] conversed, making mental notes of everything discussed. Hyperlanes for the most part. And something about Antar. The hyperlanes, he could get behind. Trade, it meant. New hyperlanes were always in so much need, and Kay gave a very good reason to that, with blockades and such. He had never seen a blockade first hand, but he had heard things.

The main reason he did not speak, he had met a rare few droids, save for Ultimatum. He was still getting used to seeing sentient droids compared to the many protocol droids and pit droids he had seen back on Corellia, working under other merchants. He would occasionally glance between the two and [member="Darlyn Excron"], making sense of the diplomatic discussion as they went on talking.

The Iron Lord Protector (Neutral Good)
[member="Lady Kay"], [member="Darben Skirae"],

"That is good to hear."

HK replied to Kay's answer,

"I was not concerned that droid rights would be an issue in Commenor space, but I wanted to be certain before I shared the results of this meeting with other Metal Lords. I will respect Antar's ability to make their own choice in the end, without any deception or trickery, as I know some of the gas giant's moons were wishing to come under Commenor influence, yet other moons already spoke and agreed to work with some of my Metal Lords who wish to use our resources and knowledge for their benefit and expansion of their capitol. I am curious as to how the situation will develop then."

The droid reached to his back then, scurrying his hand beneath his cloak before producing a small holorprojector disk, turning it on the device would show the map of the current Denon, Commenor, and Alderaan sector, along with the current charted hyperlanes,

"We are also willing to share our knowledge of ancient, forgotten, and forbidden hyperlanes with Commenor, but be wary-"

He warned as the view changed and more networks of violet colored hyperlanes were simulated on the map, standing out from the standard holograph blue. Some of them connected to other planets from various points, like Commenor or Denon, others seemed to just end and jut away in the middle of deep space between planets, some seemed to just end in a dead end.

"-they are not on current maps for a reason, due to entropy and galactic rotation they may be unusable, others are infested with dark and strange forces, being we encountered throughout our journeys around the edge of the Galaxy and while using these hidden pathways."

Turning off the holoprojector he offered it to Kay,

"I also wish to discuss possibility of commercial and to a degree military alliance between us. Many of the Metal Lords are mercenaries, often practicing the martial arts, however I am pushing for us to adopt a more defensive stance. We are not here to conquer or invade, but we will not turn our back on allies should they need reinforcements in a defensive pact or aid in efforts to rebuild in the aftermath of wars or other disasters."

Kay-Larr

Kay nodded to [member="HK-36"] . She was curious as to how Antar would vote. From what he had mentioned, it seemed as though it'd be split down the middle. But only time would tell. She'd leave all the campaigning to the people of Antar. It wasn't for her to try to sway them. That in a way would be cheating.

She looked to the disk and holomaps presented, almost squinting her eyes as she observed the changes. Of course she couldn't memorize it all, but it was interesting to see how hyperspace routes had changed over the years. Kay raised a brow as he had mentioned dark forces and strange beings that posed a threat among the old routes. "What do you mean? What dark forces?" Were they haunted somehow? She loved a good mystery, but wasn't going to go out of her way to investigate it. She had far too many responsibilities.

Kay took the holoprojector with a bow of her head in thanks and then listened as he continued on with his proposal. As usual, he wanted a military pact. Nearly everyone did, which wasn't surprising given the constant wars going on in the Galaxy. But she was reluctant to add Commenor's forces to the mix. Staying out of the conflicts had kept them safe, as well as allying themselves with both sides. "The Commenori stay home...That's the way it's always been. Our numbers are small and are needed to protect what we have. I won't stop individuals from going into conflicts, nor my husband, but given our alliances with aggressors from both sides, putting our forces into a conflict against them can have harsh consequences." Nor was she confident that any would come to their aid. Promises were one thing. But action spoke louder than words.

HK-36

The Iron Lord Protector (Neutral Good)
[member="Lady Kay"],

When Lady Kay asked about the dark forces which can lurk in the Hidden Hyperlanes, the droid looked up from the transmitter to her,

"Well for once there are the usual Star Weird phantoms, they like to lurk in Deep Space and hyperlanes seldom ventured, then there are those Withered Smoke beings, but you can usually encounter them when you get too close to an abandoned ship or an asteroid drifting through space, I do not recall a time when they would just float in the middle of the void on their own, and I heard rumors about stations and bases hidden alongside these forgotten routes, strongholds to the Cult of the Machine God, one of the Chaos Dieties of the Bando Gora. However they all pale in comparison to one threat especially,"

HK waved his hand towards the holoprojector which switched its image from the map of the Hidden Hyperlanes to that of a tall and slender grotesque being in long slightly tattered robes. It had a cephalopod head with numerous long tentacles extending from it and falling down like a beard, its limbs were thin and skeletal, spindly with elongated frail fingers, it did not seem to have any feet, at least any visible from below its flowing robe. The eyes of the creature glowed in pale eerie light.

"We call them the Deep Ones."

The droid begun,

"They are a nomadic race with a strong presence in the Force, as far as we know, most if not all of them are capable of telekinesis to the degree that they can float effortlessly high above the ground. They travel through the Hidden Hyperlanes and the Deep Space in fleets of numerous vessels shaped like giant squids of different sizes, we catalogued starfighters, corvettes, frigates, and cruisers under their command. They seem to feast on raw flesh from their captured victims, craving brains especially, but what do they not eat whole they are able to control as mindless corpse-slaves which crew their ships. The Deep Ones also require hosts to reproduce, whether dead or alive we do not know, but we encountered large spawning pools filled with their larvae, I believe they push some of their prisoners into them and let the larvae burrow inside."

With another wave of his hand the image would disappear,

"Luckily for us, and you especially, they are really bad at fighting droids, the first few skirmishes between us we were able to go through them fairly easily, after that they stopped trying to board us right away and preferred to keep us at bay. We also only encountered them at the edge of Galactic Disk, the Unknown Regions, and the Outer Rim, I doubt we will see any of them over here in the Core."

Unfortunately, couple months later, a Metal Lord patrol would encounter a Deep One fleet within the droid territory, in the Core, not too far from Commenor borders.

"Our numbers are not as vast as they were when Metal Lords were purely nomadic either, many of my brethren considered dealing with organics and claiming sedimentary territory to be a bad idea. But what are neighbors for if not to help each other? If we combine our strengths would our defenses not grow exponentially as well? I do not ask you to go to wars for me, but should Commenor be invaded, Metal Lords would come to aid. All I ask is a word that should pirates, Sith, or Imperials, that you recognize as unjust aggressors, cross into our territory, we will not be left alone while Commenor stands by."

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay furrowed her brows as she listened to [member="HK-36"] explain what lurked in the hyperlanes. She hadn't ever heard the tales, outside of them being ghost stories and the types of things that people that feared travel would come up with to justify their fears. Who knew that those tales were once or could be based on fact?

"I don't really venture out that far, so it's no wonder thatI haven't heard of them or encountered them." The strangest beings that she had encountered were on Bespin on a mining platform miles below the levels of atmosphere that Cloud City floated above. They were deadly, had a great interest in [member="Ghorua the Shark"] and had their own ships for travel. Their guard beasts were also vicious. The First Order had opened a file on them, but she hadn't heard of anymore encounters. Hopefully their numbers weren't very large. Maybe they were a dying species.

She clenched her jaw slightly as HK-36 once again asked for military aid in the case of attacks by Imperials or Sith. Pirates were one thing, but invading fleets were quite another. "As I have said, our numbers are small as is our fleet. The larger government powers quite easily outnumber our own and could crush us in a short amount of time. You might forget that we are neutral and are allied with three Imperial Empires and with some of the Sith. Attacking them would force us to take sides and given how blurred the line between good and evil are, we cannot jump to conclusions on a situation and come in with our small fleet without knowing the full details. Perhaps it's the diplomat in me, but I choose to fight in a different way." And it's done well for them so far. In all of this time that they've expanded their reach, they've been more or less unchallenged. Even now, they could fight over who controls which world along their mutual border and where the lines are drawn, but instead they are talking it over and negotiating respectively.

If only all governments did that....

But then the industrial military complex would go nearly bankrupt.

HK-36

[member="Lady Kay"],

"Yes, they do not venture this close to the Core often, doing so would make it very difficult for them to stay hidden, and such creatures often value sticking to the shadows and darkness."

HK pointed out before listening to Kay's words, he wasn't very pleased at her response, but then again as Kay was set in keeping Commenor neutral, so was the droid set in getting himself involved, they seemed both to be stubborn in their ways.

"I am far older than you, Queen Kay, and I have seen many powers rise and fall throughout the Galactic cycles. Neutrality with the Sith and Imperials works only until they are at your borders and those who would be willing to help you defend your sovereignty are already gone. The Sith will always hunger for more power, through conquest, the suffering of others, and sacrifice of those below them, and the Imperials will not stop until all of the Galaxy is under their rule. Often things are grey and morality is a spectrum, but throughout millenniums I have seen many cases when there was clear manifestations of good and evil, especially when the Force is involved. I am not asking you to attack anyone, neither did I moved for formation of Droid Space to take territory from others and attack them."

The droid explained, tapping into his experience fighting alongside the Jedi and multiple Rebel Alliances throughout his lifetime, plus the fact that he recorded pretty much everything he saw and heard made it really convenient should someone ask for evidence,

"I dream of a Galaxy where smaller powers like ours can thrive, powers which do not focus on expansion and dominance but giving sovereignty to the people, territories which favor trade, commerce, and diplomacy over military. We enjoy peace while other powers fight among themselves right now, but should a more militant force decide to attack us without provocation, we would not be able to maintain this dream unless we band together and support each other. It would not be for the purpose of preemptive strikes but defense."

Kay-Larr

Kay clenched her jaw as she listened to [member="HK-36"] explain his stance. Age had nothing to do with it. She'd seen many governments rise and fall in her lifetime too. She worked for one at the top and saw it fall once she was fired. Such a thing wasn't new to her.

She took in a deep breath and released it, averting her eyes from his while he spoke of the Sith and the Imperials. It was starting to get her a little angry. Not so much at him personally, but at his views on the Galaxy as a whole. "We have nothing that the Sith want. We haven't gone after them or tried to take anything from them. The Imperials we have bargained with for access to our trade routes. They aren't pushing to get close to us as there's nothing of value for them that they can't get elsewhere. They have bigger targets. And in my shorter lifetime I have seen Jedi behaving like Sith and Sith behaving like Jedi. I have seen the lines blurred so much for whatever causes that there is none that are better than the other."

As far as being a small government is concerned, hers is expanding, but not through military means. It was moreso through economics. Her faith in other governments was very weak. There were multiple times in the past when they were on their own. Words expressing otherwise meant nothing. Even promises. She had had them before. "As I have said...We would have to know all of the information in any conflict before we chose a side. I just can't trust that the righteous are truly in the right."

"Jedha claimed similar position as you once, they had no resources and stayed out of Imperial path. It did not stop them from overturning its soil in a single day and wiping out life on the desert moon."

The droid recounted an ancient story, one that few people would probably know or heard about, especially after the Gulag Plague either erased or change much of ancient history. In fact the machine was changing the story in what he claimed to suit his position more, relaying on the fact that he was one of the few people who still had memory and records from before the Gulag Plague to be able to spin the history how he saw fit, usually dealing in half-truths.

"Either way, I doubt either one of us is going to give ground on our stance so we would just have to compromise. If you will need to evaluate situation first before any rescue operations, then do so, I will answer your call for reinforcements as soon as I can, regardless of your enemies. In the mean time we could establish a more set trading agreement and open up our borders to let commercial traffic flow freely. We could also share the responsibility of paroling major hyperlanes going through our territory to protect them from pirate attacks."

HK proposed, it was similar to what he would later offer to the Free Worlds Alliance and the Alderaan representatives accepted, it was the machine's goal and dream to establish close cooperation between Denon, Corellia, and Alderaan, helping the three kingdoms grow in power together.

The past usually repeats, but not always. There was no sign that either of the Empires wanting to pursue claimong her territory. That didn't mean that it couldn't happen, but it put it in the highly unlikely territory.

And then [member="HK-36"] began talking about a compromise. That sat better with her. What he was asking for was simple enough, and something that she was used to doing with other governments and companies anyways. He wasn't asking for anything out of the norm, or anything that would hurt them. Instead what he offered was a promise for each of their economies to grow.

Kay nodded in agreement, holding no argument over what he proposed. "I'll agree to that. But remember that we don't play favourites, so the taxes and tariffs will be at the same low level as everyone else. This way everyone can be happy."
