Jacen barely even felt a trace of disappointment that the powerful strike connected with the head of the Sith Knight was held at bay by the armour plating. His focus was a knife edge that would not be deterred from its goal. The sexist comment didn’t even register as he took a half-step back.
The Sith had conjured a shield on across his forearm. The disk was barely larger than a dirk, yet clearly capable of absorbing blaster bolts. No manifestation of the Force, he realised, this was a device embedded in the gauntlet of his armour.
Damian continued to fire on Erebos’ flank. Then that brave, yet barely capable Padawan came rushing to swing a blade at the Sith’s knee. Damn but that was unfortunate. Jacen had been planning on drawing his handcannon and firing at point blank range, but he couldn’t afford to take the risk with an Agricorps padawan in the line of fire.
Instead Jacen kept his footwork careful and tight. That shield was small and unlikely to stop a lightsabre. At the same time the Sith had taken a reverse hand grip. Good for wide slashing movements but it came with significant downsides. Pushing through from the outside of the hand was always less effective than from the thumb side. A reverse hand grip also significantly reduced the wielder’s reach. There was a reason it was not the most popular style.
It was time to finish this fight. He stepped closer and unleashed two quick jabs for the upper chest which would be tricky to block with a reverse-hand. That grip also ensued Jacen knew which direction the block would be coming from. If Erebos came in with the expected block Jacen would allow his blade to be pushed off line and then come swinging in for the legs.
In, out and around. High and low whilst keeping at the edge of his reach to prevent the Sith from striking at him with his own blade. Erebos could back away, but that would ensure stepping back into Abel’s blade. If he used his shield he would open himself up to Damian’s blaster. This wasn’t a fair fight. It was war and he should have brought more friends.
