In Exis (Lady Kay)

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist

Matsu looked at Kay and was walking, the twisted landscape around the lake showed it more, she was suspecting it was like a bleeding and festering wound. Seeping out and corrupting through the world itself, maybe it leaked into an underground well that got tapped for water while she was moving with the sensation of the force. Slowly and carefully coming upon a large canyon that was filled with an old homestead carved into it. The map indicating what was their destination and Matsu went to the doors pushing them opened revealing a small sapling of an ancient Force-sensitive tree, She kept her eyes on it and crouched down towards it as the tree seemed to be pulsing with the lightside of the force like a small beacon. She reached a hand out touching it while the leaves reacted to her and she was looking it over, plant surge to make the leaves grow and react to her but the ground around it was vibrant. "I think it is feeding from what remained here, a powerful jedi master and the natural powers within the canyon, Thon was noted for his power with nature and keeping the light of the canyon strong. I am not certain."

She had not seen a Force-Sensitive tree in real life before. Only on the holonet. Kay crouched down and touched the ground with her hand. "Maybe he is buried beneath our feet?..." An odd place to be, but it would make sense in an odd way. The question was...who buried him?

Matsu was looking at Kay and gave a small nod. "It is possible, these trees were very rare." She hadn't seen many more then one in the jedi temple before it was destroyed and even then the jedi had never said where they had gotten it. It just was though given how she had bonded with the orchid in her study and it thrived despite living on a ship she could guess perhaps they grew near force nexus... Or maybe she was looking to far into it as the holocron hummed on her belt and Matsu brought it up to the armband and then set it on the table. THe image of Nomi was there as she spoke. "The first year of training was possibly the hardest, trying to learn both the history and nature of the jedi while also learning things some of their children learned. Vima seemed to take to it, stronger then me with the darkside dragons almost protecting her, master Thon said she is a powerful beast master able to command and control them. FOr me he seems less impressed but has been showing me greater mysteries and secrets of the jedi including how to motivate and empower entire armies."

Motivate and empower armies. That resonated with Kay and just gave her pause. Was that a skill to be learned? Kay did it automatically. She was able to gather many to her side, allies that would fight and protect her, many for nothing in return. She had figured that maybe it was only because she was nice and respectful, but perhaps it was something else.

Kay just continued to watch and listen as more unfolded.

Matsu remained there, sitting next to the tree as she felt the calming effects of the tree at her back and the holocron was speaking more. The image of Nomi standing there tall and at the ready. "Battle meditation is not solely something the jedi can use. There are sith and others in the galaxy who can use it, whole ideals within it. The ability to cause doubt and disorient crowds making their will to fight diminish. The jedi can find peace and give the power to those with them, make them faster, stronger, more inspired to want to follow them. On the scale of a group or an army that will slowly go out." Matsu was listening and she knew this, there were rumors the sith emperor had stretched his power and influence to his entire empire, or using it to cloud the minds of the jedi and keep their abilities dampened while she also knew when a jedi used it they could inspire armies. Several jedi now were skilled with it and Matsu was listening. "The power can be strengthened with the willpower of the jedi, your sheer strength of will can make it more then most can resist."

Kay just stood nearby and listened. This was more of a journey for Matsu. She just came to help where it was needed and go along for the ride. Of course there was valuable information to be learned from it all too.

She thought about the armies and having such a strong will over them. But no. That would be wrong. Let the soldiers make their own decisions, right or wrong. Don't ever force them. The power involved could corrupt an individual if they weren't careful.

Matsu continued to listen as she remained there seated, her thoughts on the words the jedi master was saying. The abilities with battle meditation were complicated to say the least and going over it in her head. She wasn't certain what could and could not happen. She knew other things about the technique and from the holocron of the Shan and Revan she knew how it could turn the tide of a battle. Hell she had seen jedi like spencer and Sarianna able to use it across entire planets to strengthen the jedi while her eyes remained there. "But like all important things, it does come to an end, there was danger in the galaxy, war, sith spirits seeking to corrupt. THe great hut had claimed the lives of many jedi as new horrors that had been unleashed upon the galaxy were spread far and sometimes close to home. Our masters worked to try and understand the threat that was coming to us but the darkside can cloud everything and everyone no matter the time period believes their time is the most important era. I am no different and saying others who thought such are fools would be in itself foolish. All I can tell you for now is that when Master Thon could no longer teach me here in the canyon of Ambria he sent me to other masters, ones strong then him in battle meditation, in the secrets of the force and I learned things, I saw things few others will have. My best friend was slain by his brother, I watched the man I cared for fall from grace and had to pass judgement on him. Take what I hav learned but make sure you are able to live your life."

The man she cared for fell from grace and she had to pass judgement on him? Whatever did she mean by that? Did she have to kill him or have him imprisoned? Kay couldn't of done either of those things to her husband. She would have worked to redeem him, for that was her way.

As for living her life after his death, her life was all for one thing, the freeing of slaves, saving their lives and their families, as well as fighting oppression. That was all that she lived for now. And it hurt so much to find her former boss and his company ArmaTech were now oppressors themselves instead of what they had started out to be. She had hoped that her friends Sheila and Zreame didn't become corrupt as well.

Matsu watched it while she was rubbing her hands together now when the image changed, the baby became a small girl and Nomi was speaking with her next to her. Matsu knew some of it from the Qel-Droma holocron and his side while she listened shifting so her legs weren't sleep from it. She was a jedi... but that didn't mean she didn't actually have to move after awhile to keep from having the circulation cut off plus she was older then some. "Though after the war, things changed, Ulic had vanished to the wastes of Rhen Var seeking solitude from the ghosts of what he had done. A gret man who went to stop the Sith and Krath with the best of intentions only to have them be twisted and brought into the service of evil. After he killed Cay and was severed the from force many sought him for revenge, republic, jedi, even the ones who weren't involved in the war but suffered from it. Including my daughter who was trained by him. Even without the force learning the true dangers of the darkside and what it can do to a person. I won't pretend to understand why and how it happened, I know only that it happened. Aleema went after him for the death of Crado and the destruction of Ossus."

Severed from the Force? How would something like that happen? It certainly brought her out from her thoughts of her own recent past.

Such a tale of their lives they had. Such an intricate web and all of it documented. Maybe one day she'll leave a holocron for some stranger to find. Afterall, she had no family to leave it with.

Matsu continued to listen and the holocron changed, little by little it was showing them a display of maps and records from the war. An image oh Nomi with Cay and Ulic. THe images of the different jedi masters they had been with before the great hunt had happened. The wars taking a toll while Matsu was working on some of it, seeing the look that came from Kay while she was moving with more of her attention on the words now. "It is a dangerous power, the jedi order of this time worked to abuse it by using it upon others who disagreed with them." Matsu was guessing purely about what to tell tell but she had a few ideas going forward now when she rose up and was working on it. The sapling she started working with the earth shaping it into clay and a pot she could carry back to the ship while looking around. The ancient and rare tree not something to leave here as it served best in a temple for meditation. Matsu walked over by her while using the force to bring the holocron to her hand.

That whole thing of the Jedi being oppressive was not something that she had liked to hear. On the contrary, she had thought that the Jedi stood for the opposite. But then so did the Republic.

As Matsu got up, so did she, watching her as she expertly uprooted the tiny tree. "Oh be careful....Where do you think you'll take it?"

Matsu was looking at Kay as she held the tree in the pot with a nod of her head. "I think it will go to the wellspring, the dark energies on this world will corrupt such a rare symbol of the light side. At the wellspring it will be able to be protected as well as the people are strong and caring." She had a few ideas of other things but a tree like this well you didn't know what to do with it until years later. The one on coruscant had been ancient and now destroyed while she was moving back towards the ship now though while looking at Kay with her feet going over it all. Large sections of the world she could sense were covered with the darkside from the lake while she was moving forward into the opening ramp as she looked towards Kay. "Your insights are most impressive on this journey."

Kay was glad that the tree was to be protected and kept away from the dark. At the comment on her insight, she smiled a little and bowed her head. "Oh I just say things the way that I see it. Though I'm glad that it's helpful." That gave her a little something to be proud of.

Matsu was looking at her as she gave nod of her head. "I wouldn't discount it though, your insight can be invaluable in situations of diplomacy and investigation." She wasn't above it but she relied heavily on the force for those micro expressions and small things. She was leading the way when they finally got into the ship with her going to the cargo bay as through it was the bay for plants and food to be grown with a smile on her face. She gave it to some of the agricultural corps members who were on her crew and caring for the tree and the orchid within the ship bay. She was looking at Kay though while the ship was leaving and spoke with a smile. "Exis station should be an interesting place, after the jedi reclaimed it the order ignored it and now it just seems to be contested."

It was as though Matsu was reading her mind....But that was okay. There was no need to worry about her taking advantage. Kay followed her to her ship and then watched the crew for a moment or two as they did their work. They were all focused on the tasks at hand, which was great. And then Matsu brought her out of her thoughts. "Exis station is contested? How so?"

Matsu was looking at her while she moved. "Well with the jedi not staying there the sector's residents decided it was their and so did a team of diplomats.... at least that was when I was last there a couple years back. They were arguing who had control of it since it was a republic station but it was in their system." It was not much to go on and really she wasn't certain about it, the jedi had left after reclaiming it and building it up as she moved to sith down and bring out the attention with it. "It is thankfully away from hutt space but we know it used to buy fuel from them so they might have some presence on the station."

Some places that seemed almost neutral in nature was usually contested. And now she had basically figured out why. What was the point of running a station if one wasn't there to run it? Of course Kay also spent a lot of time away from Commenor, yet she wasn't it's ruler. But she did help to expand trade for the ports and thereby increased the economy. All of that was good and helped her to keep her job.

"If the Hutt Cartel is around, I'm sure that we'll find out soon enough. Though my bounty is not enforced outside of their territory. So that already makes me safer from them."

Looking at her as the ship went into hyperspace for a short time, Matsu could find some of the things they had there were important but nothing seemed to be as pressing. That a bounty was on Kay must had been doing something that wasn't liked. "So if I can and because it is a quick trip. What did you do that caused so many of these hutts to collectively want to have people kill you?" She was more curious if only because... well it was interesting. The women didn't seem like a killer and the jedi master didn't see her as one of those who rallied against everything because of purpose but their own wanting to have attention.

Of course it was a question that was bound to come up sooner or later. She didn't know how far outside of Hutt Territory that her bounty was known about. "To put it simply, I have rescued a bunch of their slaves and freed them. I've done it many times and in different ways. The Hutts don't like that...."
