Spare Time? What's That?

Kay-Larr

Kay frowned slightly as she listened to [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] pour his heart out. The bad part is that he was right. She was alone in many ways as well, and being a politician had led many to just pursue her when they wanted something. "I'm not a big social butterfly either. Most find me to be quite boring and rigid as I haven't taken any lovers at all since my husband's death."

She smirked at his last remarks. "You're not so bad yourself, you know. And if you ever want somewhere to stay for a while, you're always welcome here. No strings attached, no expectations."

Kay brought him to her office and started to prepare some tea right away. She needed it after this conversation. It made her think of a reality that she pretended didn't exist.

It hadn't meant to all come out, but... Well, if he was to trust anyone with that knowledge, it was Kay. It was so quick, so easy... To have years of work taken away in an instant. All for the selfishness of others.

"Well, you haven't put out for me, and I haven't found you boring, so I must say you're doing a pretty good job" The Jedi would joke in response, shooting her a light smile. "I don't get suitors. Not anymore. Not since I was younger. Once you get a little older, they stop until you have a position of power. And then they're gone as soon as the power is. That's life."

A laugh escaped him at the compliment. "Why thank you, I'll remember that come re-election" Was the next joke to come out of his mouth.

Tea? Kark, he'd probably need a drink after all this.

"Thank you. Really" He spoke softly. "I really do appreciate that, jokes aside."

For a moment, brown eyes brimmed, and shined... A real smile accompanied them this time.

Kay smirked at his joke while she started crumpling the dry Sapir leaves into their cups. It made her think back on her days of being on the run. No matter where she was, she always had time for tea.

She sighed a little, keeping her back to [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] while he spoke of suitors stopping once age kicks in, as well as a loss of power. Kay knew that well. Of course she turned everyone down. Most were just playboys anyways and one was a Knight of Ren that was almost half her age. Then there was Veiere. He was older than her, yes, but he cared, and he didn't push or assume. He was respectful. Of course she could be wrong and he might not like her in that way at all, but besides their Force bond, there was a connection between them. Unless that was her imagination too.

Kay poured the water into the cups and then carried them over to the coffee table to let them steep. She smiled as he smiled, glad to see the truth in it. "You're welcome. There's plenty of places to stay, plenty to do. It's quite quiet here for a Core world. There's not much by the way of trouble."

"I really do appreciate it" He spoke quietly, though would then turn to shoot her a playful little smirk. It seemed the Josh she knew was coming back here and there, despite the times he did grow serious. "Are you telling me that the reason you want me here is because you're lonely, Madam Kay?" The Jedi Master would joke in turn, a laugh escaping him. Ah, there were the jokes again. It wasn't near as fun without the jokes, after all.

"Well, I suppose I could drop in more often to fix that... If you'll have me."

He would sit down near the coffee table once she'd finished, shooting her a smile. It was nice to be able to kick back for once, and just... Talk. Talk with a friend. A real friend. Someone who didn't just want you there for business, or for something you had...

Kay feigned a near faint at his joke, placing her forearm up to her forehead while she spoke in a dramatic fashion, "Oh yes. I cannot bear the loneliness. Everyone ignores me and I am just bored without having you here to rescue my sanity..."

She smirked and then handed him his tea before picking up her own. She had a sip, relishing the flavour. "Of course I'll have you visit more often. It'll be nice to not have to be so serious all the time and to pretend that things are more simple."

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

"Well, I'll just have to change that. I'll see about coming about more and more often if I can. I'd prefer the company over being bored all the time when not on mission anyway" He would tease back with a laugh. It'd be nice to have some company, without Shmi around these days. He worried for her, and hoped she was alright, but in the meantime, it couldn't hurt to keep his sanity. Human interaction was a basic human necessity, right?

He would take the tea as she handed it off to him, thanking her quietly before taking a sip. "Serious? You? Noooooo. I could never have guessed!"

Kay stuck out her tongue at him for his jest. "That's right, I'm the clown President." Of course those that don't approve of her actions would probably think that she was a clown. But they only had to wait for the five years for her term was up before they could run again. She had no plans to run for a second term, but who knows what could happen between now and then.

She sipped her tea. "I don't know what I am going to do after I finish here. Maybe I'll retire and cultivate Sapir tea leaves." Or have her own tea shop. That was an idea too.

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

"I knew that. Obviously" The Jedi Master would tease back, sticking his tongue right back at you. "You're aware that had I been a single man, I'd have done more then just stick this tongue at you in retaliation to yours, right?" Josh would joke, and then end up laughing in turn. They both had their reservations and their attachments, but he couldn't help but make that kind of jab here and there. It was just his sense of humor, and Kay was quite used to that, at this point.

A chuckle escaped him when she suggested she could retire and make tea. "Fits you" He joked as he would sip his tea. "Though I wouldn't put it past you to poison the tea of your enemies!" He joked again cheekily.

Kay raised a brow and smirked at [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] 's little 'threat' of what he would have done if he was single. "Oh yeah? And what's that? Something like this?" She blew him a raspberry and then laughed.

To his comment on her poisoning the tea she gasped. "Poison? I would never! Do I look like an evil Sith Lord to you? Drug my enemies maybe, but never poison." She laughed again. Oh if she was Dark, then maybe she would do something like that. But there was always ways to detect such things.

He laughed in turn when she would blow a raspberry, but he shook his head. "No" He would respond, shaking his head. "I don't think you even want to know" The Jedi would joke, clear amusement in his expression. It was all in good fun, after all.

Another laugh escaped him when she would refute ever even having the idea of poisoning someone. "You? Roofies? Damn, that's almost as bad as poison!" Josh would crack, seeming to take delight in tormenting her with her own words.

Kay smirked and then sipped her tea. No doubt she wouldn't want to know what [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] would do. Probably tickle her to death like one of her old friends used to threaten to do.

His comment about roofies almost made her snort tea out of her nose. She coughed and sputtered. "Careful...you nearly...drowned a President." She coughed again as she composed herself.

That was one thing he certainly -would- do, but it wasn't the particular thing that the Jedi Master had meant. Perhaps she didn't want to know, after all... She probably wouldn't. It was clearly something dirty, even if she didn't pick up on that.

But her response to the roofie comment brought out a burst of hysterical laughter from the Jedi Master. Even her warning didn't do anything except make him laugh harder. "Oh come on, drown? It's just a few coughs, at least we know you're alive and not a droid in disguise or something!" Was his next quip. With a big goofy grin to accompany it.

Kay raised a brow after she calmed down from her coughing fit. "A droid in disguise? Do they make any that are so lifelike? That could be useful..."

Indeed it would. She could use one as a decoy when going into dangerous territory, or at uncomfortable events like some of the balls she was invited too. Hmmm.

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

((Sorry for the delay. Christmas, then I got sick, then my skype was hacked, and my phone is on it's last legs.. blah))

"I think they call them synths, or something like that... Maybe that was just fiction I read though, I dunno..." The Jedi would respond, casually shrugging his shoulders in turn. A droid double would be nice... The less balls he had to attend and try to find a date, the better.

Heh, balls.

But something didn't seem right... He didn't know how to say it, really. Something just felt.... Off.

But what?

Kay nodded. "I'll have to look into it. If they are real, perhaps I could purchase a couple." She smiled. No doubt her security detail would probably approve. Unless of course they were linked to the holonet and then could be hacked into. That would make them dangerous instead of helpful.

She had another sip of her tea while she studied [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] . "Something the matter?"

"Oh, I... I'm fine" He would remark, seeming to snap back into reality when Kay would call for it. He would manage a smile for a moment. "I'm probably just really on edge, you know? I'm just getting back from mission, and I'm probably so used to sensing blasters being fired at my head, that I'm likely just still a little tense. It'll fade. This always happens" He would remark, chuckling a bit. But something still seemed... Off, he couldn't explain it. But it seemed off...

"Mind if I pour a bit more tea-"

KRAAAAAAAAASH!

A blaster bolt, a large sniper bolt in particular, would crash through the window, aiming right for the back of Kay's head. Kay likely wouldn't even have a chance to react as she would suddenly find herself floating in the air, and being roughly thrown sideways and slamming hard into the wall. The bolt would strike the chest of the Jedi Master instead, and when Kay would look back...

The Jedi Master was gone.

Disappeared entirely. Leaving a pair of Jedi Robes with a scorch mark where the bolt had hit.

Looking at the window, she might see a chopper flying upwards just out of view of the window, and the likely alarms that would soon begin to sound, if any...

Hearing the bolt crashing through the window caused Kay to jump in surprise. But she didn't have time to react. [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] 's instincts were much quicker. She was thrown hard against the wall, smacking her head on it's surface before she fell to the floor.

For a moment she lay there unconscious.

When she came to, Kay got to her feet and looked for Josh. But she couldn't find him. Only his robe remained. Did he just....?....The security detail soon arrived and whisked her out to be checked by the medics. Einon soon followed from the hallway, shaking his head in disappointment.

KABOOM!
The sound of an aircraft exploding would radiate through the building as pieces of shrapnel would hit the walls from outside and debris would fall from the sky. The remains of the chopper would hit the ground outside of the building in a smoking wreck. The body of a man would be found just a ways from the wreckage. Or, well, thought to be a body until said body would turn out to be faking it, and immediately fire a blaster at the first person to check the scene, before using the confusion to make a run for it.
That was when a figure would appear behind him, and land a hard kick to the back of the head, knocking the would-be assassin flat just as they reached for the sniper blaster they had used earlier.
The figure would crack his neck, before turning toward the party, a stoic expression spread across his face. Josh was without the outer part of his robe, which had been left in Kay's office, but of course the Jedi Master wore the GI-like inner part of the known Jedi robes.
He didn't say a word, only scoured the area to see if Kay was there and alright.

Kay was not there. She had been sent off to the medics. While she was carried off, her mind was swimming, both from the hard landing as well as not being able to find Josh. He didn't perish, did he?

Einon was being briefed on the commotion outside. He quickly sent more guards out to see to it, while remaining behind to watch over his charge. Why was she always a magnet for trouble?

Hours passed. The attempt on the President's life had gotten around, and it was likely that it would be harder to visit her now. Of course, that was for someone that wasn't Josh. He would manage to slip past security, using a power he'd picked up and one he had used in this ordeal as well. It wouldn't be long before he would find where Kay was being held, and likely being tended to. He would close his eyes, and his body would disappear...

Not gone. Just invisible.

With that, he would peer in to see just what he was dealing with, if he could just walk in and say hello, or if he had to do some explaining and get clearance, or if he had to wait. Why the invisibility? Well... He needed time to survey his situation.

Meanwhile, it would begin getting out that the attempted sniper had taken a cyanide pill the moment they were looked away from. It would be difficult to trace it back now.
